Aug 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Power lift gate control module has shorted out due to water leak somewhere on my van. Board has visible water damage. Tailgate won’t open or shut at all. Has to be done manually from inside the vehicle through trim opening on rear tailgate.

Aug 2023 ENGINE The engine starts to stall. It’s scary. It slows down to 0 and when you step on the gas it doesn’t want to go. We bought this van last year and it’s done it since we bought it. I’ve read that Honda knows it’s a problem but there needs to be a recall before someone dies in an accident.

Aug 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER While moving at a very slow speed, 2-3 mph, then pressing the accelerator, the car hesitated to find the proper gar while the engine accelerated. When gear is found, car, suddenly jerks forward to catch up with engine speed. This throws passengers backward, jerking their necks. Local Honda dealers “ are unaware any problem exists.”

Aug 2023 SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Over 20 times our van has breaked when it was not needed. This usually happens when going up a hill and turning, or when a car slows but not enough to need to break. In several instances we have almost been rear-ended due to the sudden breaking. We try to turn off the service, but it has to be turned off each time. With the amount of traffic we have in the area, this is very dangerous.

Aug 2023 STRUCTURE The van was parked in the garage. I used the fob to open the sliding door on the drivers side. It stopped, got stuck. I pressed the button to open and close it in the vehicle and it started to move. And then I heard glass crunching. The door fell off the track and broke the window.

Aug 2023 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM On June 16, 2023 When I got in my van and turned on, about 8 different system failure lights started singing and light up across my dashboard. I proceeded to drive it and it drove fine most of the time but then it would misfire or loose power. I took to a mechanic who plugged unit to read all the codes it was displaying. The ones that showed were P0300-P0306 and P219B. The mechanic pulled up and saw an extended warranty from Honda had been issued for my type of van, 2019 Honda Odyssey Touring. I called Honda to make appt to get fixed and was told that my VIN wasn’t included in the extended warranty. My van is displaying the exact issues the extended warranty covers and is clearly in need of the corrective actions listed by Honda. My gas mileage has been greatly affected and my and my children’s safety. When driving it will loose power and become very jumpy. When it looses power, there are times I’m going 50-60 mph and it’s dangerous because I suddenly drop speed and could potentially be hit. There have been codes in the past that have come on and when checked they signified dirty fuel injectors and cylinder misfires. The warning messages would go off just as randomly as they appeared. This time it’s different and the lights have stayed on. I am pleading with NHTSA to please consider including my VIN/van in a safety recall. This is an issue that Honda should address to all 2018-2019 Honda Odysseys and not just the few it knows about. The fuel injector machining process is clogging the inside of the injectors. Honda knows this. It’s dangerous to those of us who purchased their vehicles.

Aug 2023 SEAT BELTS The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while her grandchild was seated in the third-row driver-side seat, the seat belt became twisted around the waist and he became stuck in the seat belt. The contact unbuckled the seat belt but the seat belt failed to retract and loosen the child from the restraint. The child began to scream in pain as attempts to loosen the belt made it tighter. The contact called the authorities who sent the fire department to assist; the fire department was forced to cut the seatbelt to release the child. The child sustained red markings around his waist but did not need any medical assistance. The dealer and the manufacturer were both notified of the failure but neither provided any assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

Aug 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER I am not getting recalls done at Autonation Honda because they tell me that Honda has not been providing rear view camera. This has been going on for 2 years. Honda does not care for its customers! I went to Autonation Honda 3 times - 25 January 2023, 25 April 2022 and 28 December 2022. Even today (5 August 2023), I am told that Honda still has no parts. Honda used excuse of COVID for long time and has been selling its vans without any shortages. This is height of carelessness from Honda. So, I want to lodge complaint against Honda for the negligence of its duty. Thanks.

Aug 2023 STEERING,SUSPENSION The original tires on this car needed to be changed around 20k miles. I asked the dealer to align it in 2021 after getting new tires. I barely put 8k miles per year on this minivan. Recently when I went for a rotation I was told that they are wearing unevenly. I went to get an alignment and was told that the rear driver Camber was out of spec and the rear passenger toe was out of spec. The problem is that you are unable to make those adjustments on the rear. This means that it came like this out of the factory and is rapidly wearing tires on the vehicles. I did a search online and found other people from 2019 model years who experience this issue. I had the knuckle on the passenger side replaced for $900. But then found out about the drivers side toe being out of spec. I find this abominable that the car came from the factory out of spec in the steering/suspension. There's no way i could have hit something hard enough to knock it out of spec without there being other damage to the car. I would like honda to reimburse me the cost and to fix the steering knuckle for the rear drivers side. I also would like a safety notice issued to people that their tires may wear rapidly due to inability to adjust camber/toe on the rear. I only noticed now when i go to get the tires aligned. Its been 5 years i had the car.

Aug 2023 POWER TRAIN The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission failed to properly shift into gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the solenoids needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Jul 2023 VISIBILITY/WIPER The mirror has become detached on the drivers side. The same issue that has been reported as a recall for 2020-2022 Honda odyssey. My vehicle is 2019 and has the same issue. It is not bonded properly. It is a safety hazard. The dealership said I need to pay to have it replaced. However it should be that my car is included in the recall.

Jul 2023 ENGINE My Idle Stop feature on the car has become very unreliable. After the car enters the stop state, waking up the car has the following difficulties: Almost regularly, the start up process causes the car's audio and electrical to glitch and will put a warning on the dashboard that the collision mitigation system has been engaged. A few times now, the car has simply not woken up from the idle stop state, and the console will tell me to put the car in park to restart, but the shifter won't do anything. I've had to open the driver's side door to reset the electronics, close the door, and then hold the brake and push the start/stop button to get the car to restart.

Jul 2023 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM On 7/24/2023, my 2019 Honda Odyssey hesitated on start but did eventually start after a 5- second delay. After 6 miles on road, the car began to hesitate, choked, decelerate on its own even with foot on gas petal, and finally won't move an inch. The following warning lights were triggered: Brake System Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Emissions System Problem, Power Steering System Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, and also To Start Engine: Brake + Push. The 2019 Honda Odyssey was towed to the Honda Dealer near me. They kept the car overnight and it stalled and died on them too. The dealer said the fuel pump needs to be replaced. I collected my memory and recall the car has experienced jerky moments at times lately. This strike me as a prematurely dead fuel pump as fuel pumps are designed to last at least 100,000 miles of the life of the car. I found out that there was a fuel pump recall in 2021 but I did not receive any notification. With a prematurely dead fuel pump and my experience, I believe this car should be part of the recall as the defect may be more widespread, affecting more than just what the Honda manufacturer has recalled. Furthermore, this is my third Honda, but this has brought many problems causing me to have called AAA 4-5 times so far and towed twice in the last couple of years.

Jul 2023 STRUCTURE THE DOOR OF MY 2019 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS MALFUNCTIONED SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. UPON OPENING THE DOOR, IT IMMEDIATELY CLOSES WHEN ON AN INCLINE OR DECLINE AND WILL NOT STOP EVEN WHEN A CHILD IS IN THE WAY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS I OFTEN PICK MY CHILDREN UP FROM SCHOOL OR CAMP ON A SLIGHT HILL AND WHEN THE TEACHER/COUNSELOR PUTS THEM IN THE CAR, THE DOOR CLOSES ON MY CHILD. I ALSO HAVE DIFFICULTY CLOSING THE DOOR WHEN ON ANY TYPE OF HILL. I HAVE SEVERAL VIDEOS OF THE ISSUE. HONDA SAID THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE AND THAT THE SLIDING DOOR WAS ONLY DESIGNED TO WORK ON FLAT SURFACES, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS.

Jul 2023 POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES Brakes: there are several manufacturer communications on investigating brake vibration/judder, but it seems nothing has come from it. I have noticed this problem since owning the vehicle. The problem typically happens when on a downhill slope. Even light and smooth application of the brakes will cause a judder. It feels as if the brakes are being pumped on/off resulting in inconsistent braking action, but the pedal is held steady. It is an alarming feeling, but I can guarantee it will happen on a specific hill as I turn into my neighborhood. Another driver complained of the same downhill braking concern. It is something I have learned to live with, but that shouldn’t be the case. Why is there a feeling of brake pressure release and reengaging with a steady brake pedal? Maybe it’s the transmission causing it…: Transmission: the software with this 9 speed transmission is abysmal. The tech bulletin that was posted merely resets the software. What we need is a software update, or better yet, a removal of the “adaptation to customer’s driving pattern.” You know what changes? My driving pattern. And my wife’s, who also drives the car. You know how a car should adjust its shift points? The accelerator depression and rate of depression! This transmission feels like it is about to fall out of the bottom of the car on multiple occasions. I’ve never driven a car with a worse automatic transmission shift response. My first automatic was a 1985. Not only does it sound like internal damage to the transmission during hard shift, but many times it leads to poor response to move the vehicle away from traffic. Variable Cylinder Management (VCM), has a high chance of causing significant damage to power train components with a negligible return in fuel economy. Thanks, Honda…eyeroll.

Jul 2023 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE There was no warning display on car today during the incidents. I pressed the breaks and with my foot on the breaks the car accelerates 3 times. I had a car in front of me which is why I stopped but no no one behind me to trigger the car to propel me forward 3 times despite my foot on the brakes. This is second time it does this. I took it in right away to the shop. The first time was a a couple of months before (May 2023) but I had a car behind me so I figured the car took over to avoid a bump in back…but again my foot was on the brakes. And I had a car in front and In back, which could have caused an accident in front. Weird acceleration All the time: When you are at a stop and try to accelerate, the car stalls and then accelerates abruptly. Very dangerous when you have drivers behind you and in front. Collision Mitigation warnings keep popping up since 2022, but shop could not see the issue because the display disappears. It pops up randomly and disappears.

Jul 2023 LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that after picking up the vehicle at the dealer, the contact examined the vehicle and the rear passenger’s side sliding door opened and failed to close securely. Jun 2023 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE I was driving my vehicle, slowing down to turn left, when my car shifted into neutral all by itself. The satellite radio went off and the collision warning appeared on the dash. This could have happened on the highway and I could be dead. I called the Markley Honda Dealership here in Fort Collins however their service department was closed for the day. I plan on calling them first thing Monday morning. Also, the heated seat problem appeared on the dash 5 days ago and it works just fine.

Jun 2023 POWER TRAIN This is for the 9 speed transmission. Frequent erratic shifting first and/or possibly second gears. Engine revolutions increase and then gear engages with lurch or tire sqweek. One incident (and only one) of unintended acceleration after mid-range gear change on expressway without cruise control active or foot on gas pedal. Occasional clunk noise at mid-range shift. I do not use ECON mode. I have never used the paddle shifters. 2019 Honda Odyssey EX, currently about 27K miles. The vehicle is operated above 5K feet altitude and frequently above 9K feet altitude. Often in the same day. At last dealer visit, service tech indicated that there were no recalls or bulletins. The transmission was not serviced. My next transmission service is recommended for 30K miles. I subsequently made local service rep aware of California based class action lawsuit for these issues and I was passed to service manager. He indicated that he has no fix. I called Honda corporate service and I disconnected the call when the representative asked for a detailed log of incidents, which I cannot provide. My last inquiry to local dealer service tech about installing the 10 speed transmission (available in a higher trim level in 2019) in place of the 9 speed has gone unanswered. I originally thought that these issues affected only my van until I read about other experiences on the internet. The unintended acceleration concerns me.
