| May 2025 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving on several occasions and depressing the accelerator pedal after stopping, the vehicle hesitated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); a year later. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the recall repair was completed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred the following day. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 59,000 |
| May 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I am filing a complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall related to the fuel pump motor (NHTSA Recall 21V215000 and/or 23V858000). In 2024, I brought my 2019 Honda Odyssey to Stevenson Hendrick Honda in an attempt to complete the fuel pump recall. I was informed the part was not available and no repair was completed. I was told to check back later. In preperation for a family road trip I checked back in and was told the part was still unavailable. Unfortunately, I did not receive a written confirmation of these visits. Yesterday (5/21/2025), the vehicle failed to start and had to be towed to the dealership. The error code DTC P0087 (fuel rail/system pressure too low) was logged. I have now been presented with $4,000 in repairs, all related to the same fuel pump issue that should have been corrected under the recall. This failure represents a serious safety concern and has caused financial and logistical hardship. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this as a failure of Honda to provide timely remedy for a known defect, resulting in vehicle failure and costly repairs for a safety-critical system. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | My tailgate originally would not open and now the vehicle is inoperable. This was caused by a leak through the roof, where Honda failed to properly seal a seam, causing water to get onto the trunk control module and damage it. I see online this is happening with almost all Gen 5 Honda Odysseys and is clearly a manufacturing defect, causing thousands in repairs for each. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC),SERVICE BRAKES | The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that when the vehicle was turned on on several occasions, the "emission system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, power steering EPS problem, vehicle stability assist VSA problem, hill start assist problem, and road departure mitigation system problem" messages appeared. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injector kit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000 | Crash: No Fire: No | 120,000 |
| May 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the messages "Emissions system Failure", "Brake System Failure", "Brake Hose System Failure", "Power Steering Failure", "EPS Failure, "Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Failure", "Hill Start Assist Failure" and "Road Departure Mitigation System Failure" were displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was filed. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a vehicle safety complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 120,000 |
| May 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE | On a rainy day, the power tailgate began to malfunction. First it would open part of the way, beep, and then close, then when trying again it would go move back and forth on its own, and then close. Trying it again later, however, it completely stopped working to the point where we had to manually force it to open and close, only the latch would work. The heads-up display showed power tailgate error. On my attempt to troubleshoot I found that water had leaked into the area behind the driver's-side rear inside body panel where the rear control module and fuse housing is located, which I noticed was covered with water. I was able to partially dry this. Later on the rear tailgate started working again briefly but the problem returned and now it no longer works. I contacted Honda USA about this issue and they told me there is no recall for this, however when I did a google search this issue immediately pops up and seems to be a common manufacturing safety problem that has not been addressed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | ADAS completly stoped working and warning lights about multiple failures showed. I am having trouble with the factory dealer. Honda. They want 1800.00 dollars to replace camera and fix The Warranty i have will not cover it. I have seen a ton of this similar situation posted all over online. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Recently got a message on the instrument panel that says "Emission System Problem" with DTC P219A. This is related to faulty fuel injectors. Honda released Service Bulletin 21-010 and extended the warranty to 10y/150,000mi to cover this issue. However, Honda is saying my VIN is not covered by this campaign. From browsing owners forums and talking to the dealer, it seems that many more owners are experiencing this same issue. Clearly the original service campaign did not cover enough VINs. Honda needs to expand the service campaign to cover more VINs to capture all of the faulty fuel injectors. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Delayed transmission engagement when accelerating from a stopped position. When the accelerator is depressed the transmission hesitates and does not shift for a few seconds. This is very unsafe when trying accelerate into traffic or cross roads. This has been an on going issue with this transmission. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Warnings Displayed: 1.Auto High-Beam Problem 2.Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Problem 3.Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) Problem 4.Collision Mitigation System Problem 5.Road Departure Mitigation System Problem 6.Brake System Warning (Red BRAKE light illuminated) Dealer diagnostic: Multipurpose camera malfunctioning. costs $2218 to replace. This should be a manufacturer recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I was driving to work and all of a sudden, the Check Engine light turned on and when I looked at the dashboard, it says Emissions System Problem. As I went home, I purchased an OBD sensor and as I used it, it read P219A which is about fuel injectors replacement. I was searching for answers online and I came across an extended warranty for problems like this with 18-19 Honda Odyssey but it says for certain VIN numbers. I called Honda America and said that my VIN number is not within the list so they are not covering the warranty. Same is true with the dealerships, they said the same thing. As I looked into Odyssey Forum online, a few of us at about 90k mileage has this issue and we were all told that our VIN numbers are not in the list. I do hope you can help us on this that we can be covered by Honda regarding this inconvenience. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The fuel injector system is failing. The check engine light came on at around 60k miles and the error code P219A is present for this model. Service Bylletin 21-010 covers Honda Odysseys but do not cover this specific VIN. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Without any notable prior messages or symptoms prior to the failure, on [XXX] after dropping off the kids at school and then turning on my 2019 Honda Odyssey EX-L (28,170 miles), the "Brake System" light was on and the following 5 dashboard warning lights/messages turned on: 1) Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, 2) Lane Keeping Assist Problem, 3) Collision Mitigation System Problem, 4) Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, 5) Auto High-Beam Problem. The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems no longer works, and it becomes unknown to the driver whether the "Brake System" light is being triggered only by the Collision Mitigation System Problem, or an additional problemch as the anti-lock brake system not working. While no accidents occurred, the warning lights add unneeded driver anxiety, which can contribute to a potential safety impact. The problem has been confirmed by the San Leandro, CA Honda Dealer to be error code U3000-49. Dealer diagnosed problem as "Multipurpose camera / millimeter wave radar internal circuit failure" and recommended to replace the multipurpose camera and perform aiming. Dealer advised that safety features will not work. The diagnostic fee was $179.10, and the repair fee was quoted as $2456.55 The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | I am filing this complaint to report a recurring and costly defect involving the starter system in my Honda Odyssey. The vehicle has been experiencing starter failures every few months, requiring repeated repairs and part replacements. Each time the starter fails, I am left stranded without warning, creating a serious safety hazard, especially when the failure occurs in public areas, on road shoulders, or during emergencies. The defect has caused extreme inconvenience, financial strain, and raised serious concerns about the reliability and safety of this vehicle. Given the frequency and cost of the problem, I believe this constitutes a systemic defect that should be investigated for a potential recall or manufacturer responsibility. I urge the NHTSA to thoroughly investigate this matter to determine whether this ongoing issue with the starter poses a broader public safety concern and qualifies for regulatory or enforcement action. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Shortly after owning we started noticing sporadic jerks between 24-29 mph that felt like a hard up shift. We immediately brought to our local Honda dealership where they performed a software update. We were told that the vehicle struggles to shift while under load. Recently our van was making a whining noise and seemed hard/delay to accelerate in drive as well as reverse. Almost felt like I was in neutral, but was not. NO warning lights were on, but something was not right so I went home. The next day it would not start and lit up every warning light. We had it towed to the dealership and was told battery was shot so they replaced. On way home it was still hard to accelerate so we brought it right back to the dealership and have been told a new transmission is needed. We have had all maintenance done at dealership prior to this. In fact, the vehicle was just in 3 weeks ago for an oil change and everything looked great. These issues have occurred without any warning lights or diagnostic alerts, making them unpredictable and dangerous. A transmission should not fail without any particular warning to the driver. It seems these transmissions have had a defect from the date of manufacturer that cause malfunctions, premature failing, costly repairs, and most important major safety concerns. Honda needs to be held accountable. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,BACK OVER PREVENTION | About 5 warning lights came on simultaneously keeping me from driving my vehicle safely | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Front camera stopped working, which appears to be a common problem for honda, and deactivated all safety features that rely on camera. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Nine simultaneous, spontaneous errors while driving in town. Error messages were as follows: * Emissions System Problem * Brake System Problem * Transmission System Problem * Brake Hold System Problem * Power Steering System (EPS) Problem * Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem * Hill Start Assist Problem * Road Departure Mitigation System Problem * Blind Spot Info System Problem | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | AIR BAGS | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact drove over a pothole and the front passenger’s side curtain air bag deployed unintendedly. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. The VIN was not available. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 100,000 |
| Apr 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Took the van to the dealership to fix a recall for the fuel pump. A few days later, error messages popped up saying there are problems with the adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation system, lane keep assist system, and brake system, among others. I test drove it from Arcadia to Pasadena on both the freeway and the sidestreets without any problems. We took it back to the dealership who assessed it and told us that the multipurpose camera was bad. It would cost us $2100 to get it fixed. We refused. No one was hurt, however, the dealership told me that there is a safety risk to my family if I did not repair it. Attached is the invoice for the last visit during which the dealership gave us the estimate for replacing the multipurpose camera. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ENGINE | My 2019 Honda Odyssey has only 63,545 miles on it. The vehicle recently began making strange "rattling" sounds from inside the engine block when driving. I took the car into the dealership (Honda of Oakland) and learned from the technician that the rod bearings and/or connector rods are damaged. The engine needs to be completely torn down. To repair the car, I will need to purchase a new engine. The cost estimate is $13,000. Looking online, I discovered there is an ongoing recall for this issue affecting many 2018-2019 Honda Odysseys. Somehow, my vehicle has been excluded from this recall despite exhibiting the exact same problem(s) that the other recalled vehicles are experiencing. It appears that the existing recall parameters for the cars being affected by this bearing rod issue are too narrow. Many more Honda Odysseys are experiencing this same problem. I called American Honda for further assistance and they declined saying that the vehicle is outside of the warranty period and they are not obligated to help. I purchased this vehicle from the Honda of Oakland dealership - during my ownership, the car has passed many multi-point inspections. Nothing I have done (or did not do) has contributed to the problem - it is purely a manufacturing defect. The technician tells me that, if I don't make this repair, the engine could "seize-up" on the road while driving. This condition poses an active safety hazard for Odyssey owners. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My power liftgate ceased to open or close via any electronic means (button on dash, button on remote, tailgate left button on back of vehicle). The tailgate control module in the rear driver side panel was full of water when it was removed. The circuit board back side was covered with moisture damage which has shorted out the board. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | The adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and road departure system randomly fails and does not work. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | All the symbols related ADAS suddenly popped in my car with no rain or snow or any accidents. When I checked with Honda dealership, they said it caused due to software issue and nothing related hardware and it needed 2500$ for replacing the entire system. If it is software causing this issue why would customer had to pay for it, and it could be a recall. I noticed similar issue for all 2019 and above models. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Forward multi purpose camera failed and cause the rest of the advance driver assist systems to malfunction. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
