| Mar 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Odometer display malfunction. Periodically, the display will go blank or display incorrectly. It also blinks on and off a lot. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I've been stranded at least 5 different times. My fuel pump needs replaced, but with the recall, I won't be able to get it fixed until the Fall 2024. I'm upset because I have to keep worrying about my car for the next 6 months. I've visited the dealership where they couldn't replicate the issues I was having with my car, until after the recall came out and answered the question as to what's wrong with my car. But now I have to wait for 6 months to get it fixed. I shouldn't have to worry about driving my car. I would like a loaner car until the replacement parts come in and my car is fixed. I should not have to pay for this loaner car. I just don't know how Honda expects people to drive a car that may shut down at any time. Please help me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Driving on interstate all dashlights came on and then dimmed, car would not accelerate. Stepped on brakes and then car engaged. Also have vibration under gas pedal that can also be felt on floorboard on passenger side. Recently had transmission flushed and shavings were found, technician indicated transmission failure HOWEVER, car gives me no warning lights - this could cause a very bad accident. Incident with dash lights and no accelation was early Jan 24, transmission service was completed on 2/27/24. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I was parallel parking and when I put the car in reverse and barely touched the gas it suddenly accelerated into the car behind me. It was so fast it shot backwards like a rock into the car parked behind me. This was not driver error. It is now with an independent mechanic so I do not know at this point if they can reproduce the incident. I did not take it to Honda as I wanted an independent an unbiased report on the car. No warning lights, etc. before hand. The car behind me had somebody sitting in it and he hurt his hand. BUT if there had not been a car parked behind me I would have shot out backwards into a very busy street. Or had somebody been walking behind the car the would have been killed. The body damage to both cars shows that the speed had to be high at impact, and given the small space between cars when one is parallel parking I would have had to put the "pedal to the metal" to cause the kind of damage that was sustained. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 1 Towed Medical attention | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact called another local dealer, Bennett Honda (1820 Cumberland St, Lebanon, PA 17042) and was informed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The odometer/fuel gauge (trip/fuel/mpg/time/temp/oil life display) is blank when the car starts. It occasionally goes out while driving. I originally thought it was just in cold weather but it has happened in summer too during extreme heat. The majority of times is when the temperatures are below 40. After a few miles it with flicker and eventually come back on when I reach my destination but if it's in the low 30s it doesnt come on at all. I have had it completely out for 3 days in a row when we had a cold spell. I even park in a garage with the hopes it would help but it does not. I feel not knowing how much fuel I have is a safety concern. I constantly have to top off my tank in cold weather not knowing if it will be out for days at a time. I have done research online into this issue, there are many other 2019 Honda HR-V owners that are having the same issue. In March of 2023 I showed my dealer pictures and videos of the gauge blank and flickering and they were able to get Honda to agree to replace the Meter Assembly at no cost to me when the part came in even though it was out of the warranty period. It has been a year and they still tell me the part has been backordered every time I call. They also told me they believe it stops keeping track of mileage when the gauge goes out. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Feb 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | A few days ago several lights and warning items came on: Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation Problem, Auto High Beam Problem and the Break System Light is on. I took it to my local Honda dealer- they said the Monocular camera needed replacing and the break hold/emergency parking break switch needed replacing. Then 2 days later my low battery on my fob came on. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Vehicle stalls on the highway during longer drive times up to 3 hours. Gas pedal stops working and all dashboard warning lights illuminate. Engine will not restart for several hours but after being towed and some sort of rest period restarts with no issues. Same problem happened on 3 separate occasions. Dealer was unable to recreate or diagnose any issues | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,AIR BAGS | The contact owned a 2019 Honda HR-V. The contact stated while driving 70 mph on cruise control, the contact heard a weird noise and the vehicle decelerated to 0 mph without warning. The vehicle lost power and the contact could not restart the vehicle while sitting in the middle lane of the highway. The check engine and several other warning lights illuminated. While stuck in the middle lane, the contact was rear-ended on the right side by an 18-wheeler and tossed to the left side of the highway crashing into a barricade on the left front side of the vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the collar bone, left leg, and upper front teeth and had a blood clot. The contact also suffered emotional distress. The contact was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was treated for the injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 1 Towed Medical attention | 49,000 |
| Jan 2024 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle jolted forward. The vehicle failed to start. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer and was informed to schedule an appointment for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 55,575. | Crash: No Fire: No | 55,575 |
| Jan 2024 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I’m very frustrated with Hondas lack of response to the fuel pump recall. Here is what I’ve been told: I called Rusty Wallace Honda in Knox, they told me they can fix my car until earliest November 2024. I called Honda Recall Number- they told me there is nothing they can do at this time. They told me to keep driving it and if something happens to call, but the recall says the call could stall out mid-drive. They also told me they have required all Honda dealers to pull my model from being sold (if this car isn’t safe to sell, why am I driving it?) Rusty Wallace told me they didn’t feel they needed to inspect my car and instead, tried to get me to trade it in and buy a new car (I don’t have a loan and don’t want a new car). I want to feel safe and I drive 35 miles to work one way all highway. The thought of my car stalling is giving me crippling anxiety. Honda is refusing to provide anything to me but to allow me to trade it in. I feel stuck with my car because I tried to go to Subaru to buy a new car with them and they can’t take my car. I don’t want to be stuck with this death machine for 10 months, Honda needs to step up and put me in a rental car. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The odometer and other information on that gauge are blank upon starting the car. That includes the fuel gauge, clock, and thermometer. Some fiddling around with the knob eventually brings it back but the total mileage and Trip A mileage are lost (I need them for tax purposes). Today it says "range" where the total mileage should be. The second time it happened, nine months later (today), while driving, the numbers and bars/lines became incomplete. They were moving around a bit. After awhile, they came back. I understand that many other HRV drivers have the same problem and that the fix is expensive. I have had the car for two years and drive 1,000+ miles a year. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Odometer (trip/fuel/mpg/time display) works intermittently and often has garbled readouts. When it is not working, distance traveled and fuel level is unknown, creating a safety concern. When the display is completely nonfunctional it is unknown when (or if) it will return to functioning. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | Car would not turn off. Says vehicles remote keyless start system problem. Won't shut off vehicle motor. Tried for over 10 minutes to turn off vehicle. Had to risk injury by removing battery terminal cable. It's been 2x it has happen. Honda sounds like recalled or extended warranty for 2016-2018 but not 2019. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Failure of my Odometer/fuel gauge/ outdoor temp. This dial seems to go blank/black screen! This seems to happen in colder & wet weather. This could be a real SAFETY issue if my car ran out of gas on a 4 lane highway due to not being able to see fuel gauge! Also NOT being able to track mileage for oil changes or mileage for replacing tires! I am willing for NTSB or Honda to inspect my car! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The speedometer doesn't work in the cold which has happened more than once. This data on the cluster gives data for fuel (miles) amount of fuel in the tank, actual miles driven, percentage of oil… It needs to be addressed as a recall since too many others with the same make and model have this issue… | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | There has been an issue with the Odometer (trip/fuel/mpg/time display) for my car. There was a factory recall for it and the software had been updated at the end of March or at the beginning of April, 23. However, the same issue has been restarted since last week (around 10/11/23). The odometer (trip/fuel/mpg/time display) is dark when I start my car. After I tapped several times, it was displayed but did not work properly. Also, you can see there is a time display difference between the odometer and the radio. Please see the pictures. Now, the Honda service department wants to charge for the diagnostic fee because the warranty has run out. This is unfair because of the same issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V The contact stated that the instrument cluster failed to show the fuel mileage or the mileage on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | - My back windshield spontaneously shattered. - Yes, my safety and the safety of my passenger was put at risk. We were driving on the freeway when the glass spontaneously shattered. IF I had a child in the backseat of the car, they would have been covered in shards of glass. -The problem has been confirmed by the dealer AND by Honda themselves. They issued a Priority/Action notice in May 2023 addressing spontaneously exploding back windshields in 2023 Honda HRV's (my model). There has even been one other person report the SAME issue at my Honda dealership. Honda is not agreeing to repair my back windshield, even though they publicly acknowledged the issue. - There were no prior warnings before the event happened. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Since car was new it has surged going up long hills due to fuel pump. Occasionally it would hesitate when pulling out into traffic, causing danger. At 16k miles the fuel pump locked up and left us stranded. After cooling down, the pump worked again well enough for us to get home. This is the same swollen impeller issue affecting around 800k other Honda vehicles of the same make, model, and year in a recall, but the recall does not include our specific VIN. The repair is quoted at the dealership at $1042 for a 1.2 hour repair and an $80 part, according to Honda's own service bulletin (A21-025). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The odometer/fuel gauge keeps going out when I’m driving and it’s so scary to not know how much gas I have or how many miles I’ve gone. This has been happening for over a year now. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V. The contact stated while reversing, the back over prevention screen went blank. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V046000 (Back Over Prevention). No additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 32,000 |
| Aug 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I started losing my air conditioning on a trip for vacation (7/16). When I got back, I made an appointment for diagnostics. My car at this point is just barely out of warranty. The diagnostics on 8/3 came back that their was a leak in the condenser coil. After doing some searching I saw that there is a warranty extension for other Honda models that fall in the same year my car is in. I called Honda Corp the same day and specifically asked was the condensor coil that is in my car manufactured in the same plant the defective coils were made in and the reply was yes. The dealer filed a good will claim for me and they covered 50% of the coil replacement which i took in for repair on 8/24. Due to the leak, the compressor is bad and they want more money (enough for a down payment) to replace that. The gentleman at the dealer told me this is a known issue but the HRV isn't covered under the extended warranty/recall that was placed for other models. Due to the current problem, I have been told if the compressor locks up, it could cause a belt failure in my car. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS | The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while attempting to park her vehicle, the vehicle independently accelerated into a tree without warning. The air bags did not deploy upon impact; the contact did not sustain any injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer body shop where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was also informed that a diagnostic was performed but no defects were found. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | 42,000 |
