| Jul 2023 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | I was making a 90 degree right turn and had turned my steering wheel the amount needed to make this turn, however, the car direction did not match the amount the wheel was turned and continued to head towards the oncoming traffic lane. I removed my foot from the gas peddle and noticed that even though the radio was still playing, the screen had gone black. A couple seconds later, the screen came back on and the car jerked into the turn, seemingly finally catching up with the steering wheel. I took the car to my mechanic and the diagnostic scan did not show any codes that matched this issue. My mechanic did note that he looked up the issue and found other reports online of the same thing happening to 2019 HR-Vs after heavy rainfall. My incident occurred 3 days after we had so much rain that flash flooding occurred. Honda corporate directed my to the dealership. | Jul 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The sun visor (Driver side) has become difficult to operate. Also, the sun visor does not close flush to the cabin roof. The sun visor is not operating as it should. I reached out to Honda but since there is no recall and this repair is outside of the warranty period, they will not make the repair at their cost. The dealer has done two software updates but it still does it from time to time. | Jun 2023 | STEERING,STRUCTURE,SERVICE BRAKES | Issues: Sunroof leaks heavily: during the rain and in car washes, into the backseat, which is ruined now from the constant leaking this past winter 2022-23 *Sunroof replaced 3/2023 Continues to leak heavily Weather Strips: Doors lacking weather strips, or the weather strips are so loose and loosely connected, it serves very little purpose, i.e., the seal attaches loosely to widely spread intermittent hooks, these are not attached securely and leak significantly. Brought to Honda: Never repaired Steering: Severe instability when both turning and accelleration!! Very dangerous when making a left hand turn from a stopped position!! This happens daily! Body Parts: Cheaply made, put together incorrectly by the manufacturer Honda in Mexico, e.g., Honda is completely aware of the plethora of body defects, including the sunroof. | May 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | I'm reporting two issues: 1) The gas gauge (the 3rd circle on instrument panel) keeps going out. Over the 18 months, when starting the car on cold mornings, the gas gauge would show blank, I can't see how much gas I have in the car. After about 10 minutes, the gas gauge information would show up. I initially associated the issue with starting the car in cold weather, but in the last couple of months, the gas gauge will start flickering in & out as I'm driving. These have been on warm days I have been driving at least 30 minutes or more before the issue starts. Nothing unusual happens before the issue starts. The risk part is that you could run out of gas and not know it because you can't see the dial. I asked the dealer to look at the issue when the car was inspected this year and last year and they aren't seeing any error code related to it. 2) The drivers side door lock has on a few occasions been hard to lock from the inside. When I try to push down the lock switch, it is very hard to push and the click sound is very loud with an associated metal grinding sound. I had to restart the car and press the button that shows the oil life to get the gauge to come back on. This is a new problem and I have not scheduled service yet. The vehicle did not respond to the accelerator when flooring the pedal. A number of lights appeared, some were blinking and others remained lit. Thankfully the vehicle eventually began to operate as normal. However, this event has increased in frequency, duration, and severity. Typically the warning lights would turn off within a few days after each even the lights remain on for a longer period of time and the event occurs more frequently. The noise and sensations this event creates occur more frequently during an interval and sound more serious and damaging. The car continues to react in uncertain ways, sometimes refusing to accelerate, sometimes slowing down more rapidly without breaking. The photos and videos are not from the original event date. | Dec 2022 | SUSPENSION | The vehicle developed a rattle and I took it to the dealer and was told that both rear shocks and dampers had to be replaced. When I went to pick up my vehcile, there was another vehicle that was the exact same year and model there with the same issue. My car has only 24,731 miles and was our of warranty by 1 month. This seams too coincidental form my car and another car to come in with the same problem, which leads me to believe that this may be a fault part. | Sep 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I heard of an ongoing investigation partaining to 2019 Accords and CR-Vs, so I wanted to add this information: I have a 2019 Honda HR-V, and at least twice, the Automatic Breaking System has engaged erroneously/at dangerous times. The most glaring incident, I was driving in one lane at ~30 mph, and there was a left turn lane with a stationary car that I approached. I was not in the turn lane, I did not try to turn into the lane. My emergency brakes detected the car, one lane over, and UNSAFELY slammed the brakes. AFTER TURNING ENGINE OFF, THE LIGHTS GO OFF AND COME BACK ON AFTER 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING AGAIN. IF PARKING BRAKE IS ENGAGED WHEN PARKED, IT IS NOT RELEASABLE. CHANGED BATTERY WITH HONDA BATTERY, ISSUE RESOLVED. 6 MONTHS LATER DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THE DOOR AJAR LIGHTS AND SOUNDS ARE ON AND THE OVERHEAD LIGHT IS COMING ON AND OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING AT NIGHT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AMONGST 2019 HRV'S. DEALERSHIP DOES NOT KNOW WHAT WILL RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY PROVIDE CODED THAT SAYS IT WILL BE THE START OF THE RESOLUTION AND CODE CAN BE RAN AFTER THESE ITEMS ARE FIXED TO FIX THE REMAINING ITEMS THAT MIGHT BE CAUSING IT. $2600 FOR A NOT EVEN 3 YEAR OLD CAR TO BE FIXED FOR A KNOWN ISSUE???? HRV FORUMS HAVE MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS AND THE ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. LIGHTS COMING ON IN THE CAR ON THE ROAD AT NIGHT ARE A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. | Oct 2021 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES | I was driving into my very short driveway tonight. I have a class B (van sized RV) parked in front. As I drove in and started to brake, the car accelerated rapidly. I tried pumping the brake, but the car accelerated and hit the back of the RV, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The air bags did not deploy, but the seat belt became very tight. I took the car into a dealer in Utah 4 weeks previously and they did recall work on the brakes and fuel line. The problem with the brakes was excess air in the brake lines that they had to bleed, from what I read about the recall. I don't know if this is still the problem, but something caused the brakes to fail. I am now unsure if this car will be safe to drive, even after repairs. I live in a very remote area where the nearest community of any size is 2 hours in either north or south directions. There is open livestock grazing (horses and cattle) on the two lane highway and without the ability to brake as needed, this could be deadly for me, my passengers and the livestock.
