| Date | Component | Summary | Severity | Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mar 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Car has completely stopped while driving numerous times. I have been driving anywhere from 35 to 45 miles an hour when the car suddenly stops for no apparent reason. Today I was almost rear ended. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH, the brake warning light illuminated and the brake independently activated and the vehicle decelerated to 10 MPH. The contact stated that the cruise control was not activated during the failure. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and veered the vehicle to the side of the road, waited for several minutes before restarting the vehicle and the vehicle operated as needed. The contact stated that the failure recurred a week later. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 45,000 |
| Mar 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The component system that is failing is the Anti Collision Emergency Braking System. It has put the safety of me, and my family at risk, by engaging while I was driving on a highway—multiple times regardless of if there was a vehicle in front of me or not. I've had to lightly pump my brakes in order for the system to disengage. This issue has not been investigated by anyone other than hearing about it on the local news station. There were no other warnings and thankfully has not yet resulted in any accidents. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I have owned my Honda CRV for only 8 days. I have had three instances where my auto-braking has activated when it was not necessary. I have placed my stopping distance for my auto-braking at "short", to hopefully avoid unnecessary braking after the first incident occurred. Two of the incidents occurred when the vehicle ahead of me was turning right at an intersection in town at slow rates of speed. In both cases, I was not close to the vehicle, but my vehicle braked suddenly as if a collision was imminent. In one of those incidents, the vehicle ahead of me had turned and I was starting to accelerate when the emergency braking activated. It totally surprised me since there was no vehicle in front of me at that time. The third incident the automatic braking activated for just a split second and went off when there was a vehicle at least 50 feet in front of my vehicle and we were traveling straight down a city road at less than 30 miles per hour. It is a little unnerving at the moment the vehicle does automatic braking when there is no apparent reason for it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Vehicle braked hard without driver touching brake pedal. This has happened twice in last year. Now reading that this may be common with 2019 CRV | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | In February of 2022, the automatic emergency braking system (CMBS) randomly activated as I was driving through an intersection and caused my 2019 Honda SUV to suddenly decelerate, shudder, and jerk while coming to a very sudden stop. There were no other cars in front of me or at the side of me and the weather was clear and the road smooth. My seatbelt tightened as I was jerked forward by the sudden stop. The emergency brake warning sign was flashing on the dashboard. At first I was unable to accelerate and move the car forward but after a minute was able to start up. There were cars following behind me and they too had to make a very sudden stop and avoided what could have been multiple rear end collisions. I have approximately 7,000 miles on this SUV and have driven it for approximately two years and this is the first incident. I am scared to drive it with the CMBS activated and am turning it off every time I start the car! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Automatic braking occurs when driving for no apparent reason. This has happened multiple times usually when driving on the highway at high speed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH in between two intersections with no nearby vehicles or objects, the vehicle started beeping and the brake warning indicator was flashing on the instrument panel. The vehicle then erroneously suddenly activated the brakes and the vehicle came to an abrupt stop. The contact stated that his wife who was seated in the passenger’s seat sustained bruised from the seat belt to her shoulder. There was no medical attention provided. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was also informed that sometimes the metal plates on the road may give a false indicator of a vehicle causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified by the dealer of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 | 24,000 |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle independently slowed down without warning. The contact also stated a similar failure occurred as he crossed a yellow line on the roadway. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where he was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty; however, after the dealer spoke with the manufacturer, they agreed to honor the warranty. The contact was given a date for the parts to arrive however, the parts never arrived. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 13,000 |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | In April or early May 2021, my wife and I were driving my CRV on Interstate 77S coming from downtown Cleveland in the afternoon. It was a sunny day and we were driving at highway speeds. All of a sudden my CRV went into an Emergency Braking condition. The car was braking was as if I slammed on the brakes full force. Luckily no cars were immediately behind us or else they would have rear-ended us. The car slowed down rapidly and drastically, but control of the car was returned to the driver before it came to a full stop. No cars were in front of us. Nothing was in the road that we could see as an obstruction or shiny object (which Honda said sometimes fools the sensor). We were approaching (maybe 100 yds away) a shadow in the road from a bridge overpass. The dealer checked the vehicle on May 4, 2021 for proper operation of this Emergency Braking system and if any codes were created by the event. Nothing was found wrong. The car had 15,483 miles on it when Honda checked it. Honda said the shadow in the road should not have triggered the sensor. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The emergency braking system deployed unexpectedly and for no reason I was accelerating after getting on the expressway at rush hour when the brakes deployed nearly causing a rear end accident. This has happened three additional times since the first incident. No inspection of the vehicle has been performed. The "BRAKE" light did illuminate. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | On 22 Feb 22 while exiting the highway to a service plaza, the Automatic Emergency Braking System slammed on the brakes in our 2019 CR-V. Fortunately, no one was close behind us. I recall that the Lane Departure Warning system activated and then the brakes slammed on. The braking system fault has also occured 5 or 6 times when making a 90 degree turn from a stop light to another street and there was no one directly in front of us. We have owned the car for 3 years and are happy with the vehicle and safety features, but this fault is extremely dangerous and needs to be addressed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | This has happened 3 different times in the last 4 months, I have been driving down the road and the brake button pops up and slows me down when nothing is around, called dealership they said nothing wrong with vehicle. It's even done it in a curve and scared me had a vehicle behind me almost caused an accident | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The vehicle’s automatic braking system flashes the warning and slams on the brakes when there is nothing in front of the car. It is an intermittent problem that happens mostly when the weather is clear and dry. This has nearly caused an accident on occasion since it’s happened when traveling at both lower and higher speeds. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The vehicle will be running at a certain speed then will just start braking like a car is in front but there isnt. It has done it several times. Sometimes it brakes hard and sometimes not. It is scary and worries you about being rear ended. It will slow you down then take off again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I HAD 2 INCIDENCES WHERE MY CRV STOPPED SUDDENLY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. BOTH TIMES, I WAS DRIVING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, ON ONE-WAY STREETS, WITH A STOP SIGN AT EACH BLOCK. SPEED WAS AbOUT 20 MPH (OR LESS). THERE WAS NO WARNING OF ANY KIND, NO ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED AND I DIDN'T REPORT IT TO THE DEALER (CAR IS LEASED), THINKING EACH WAS JUST A FLUKE. I'M REPORTING IT TO YOU NOW, SINCE I JUST LEARNED THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED WITH OTHER HONDA CRVS AND IS BEING INVESTIGATED. THE RISK OF AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE BEEN HIGH IF A CAR WAS FOLLOWING ME CLOSE BEHIND. I DO NOT REALL THE DATES, BUT BOTH OCCURRED WITHIN THE PAST YEAR. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Car will randomly brake when there is nothing in front. Has happened several times. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | was driving on the highway at 50 mile an hour and car slammed on the brakes automatically. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the Automatic Emergency Braking System activated without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,500. | Crash: No Fire: No | 13,500 |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | My car will run normally with all the safety equipment turned on. Sometimes, when I switch lanes, the car will brake and slow down possibly 10 miles per hour and cause a dangerous situation on a highway or expressway. It happens mainly when I'm on a highway and traveling at normal speed and will make the traffic behind me come closer to my car as if I'm braking. When this happens, there aren't any cars near me neither in front and to my sides. This happens about once every 2 weeks of highway travel and also when merging from an entrance ramp. | Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving on the interstate at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision-Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking engaged, and the vehicle abruptly stopped. The brake warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. The VIN was not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | 50,000 |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | This vehicle is NOT equipped with an automatic braking system however if I get too close to a vehicle in front I will get a visual and audio warning to BRAKE NOW. From time to time the BRAKE NOW warning will appear when there are no other vehicles in front of me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES | On Thursday evening (2/3/22), I had just made a left turn from a complete stop, and was accelerating up to speed. The car had only reached between 30&35 mph when it (the car) came to an abrupt and slamming stop. There were no other vehicles or anything else in front of me that could justify us to stop. The car was not in cruise control - which, when I carried my vehicle in to be checked out, I was asked repeatedly. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Vehicle on several occasions has applied the brakes at highway speeds for no apparent reason. My safety is at risk because this will causes the vehicle to brake without warning and at high speeds. No vehicles were in front of the car, the road was clear. The vehicle has been taken to two Honda Dealerships for this issue. The warning "BRAKE" warning light flashes in the dashboard when this has happened. This has happened multiple times in 2021 and also in 2022. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was exiting I-490 east to I-390 north at 45 mph and suddenly my Honda CRV forcefully applied the brakes. There was no vehicle in front of me and fortunately there was no vehicle in back of me. But I remember this because it really scared me. This is the only time this has happened. I am reporting this now because of an article I read on AOL titled "Over 1.7M Hondas probed for unexpected automatic braking". | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
