Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Jun 2022 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE In two instances, while driving in the city street (cloudy day, daytime) around 30 miles per hour, the car suddenly went into emergency breaking with no obvious reason. The breaking light flashing in the dashboard. No car in front at all. The car almost went to total stop. The system went back to normal less than a sec later. Everything was normal before it happened. I was lucky because no car was behind me when this happened. Did not take to dealer.

Jun 2022 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE While driving on the highway at approximately 50MPH my 2019 Honda CR-V suddenly braked hard on its own, with no vehicle in front of me. Luckily there was no one behind me either or it would have likely caused me to be rear ended. It was a frightening experience, also causing neck pain for a few days afterwards. I reported the issue to Honda.

Jun 2022 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was driving at 35 mph on a city road. All of a sudden, I heard several beeps and saw a brake signal on the car incident panel come up. My CRV braked automatically and slowed to 25 mph. There was no car behind me, thank goodness. The brakes released and then the CRV drove as normal. There was no indication before the braking system engaged that this incidence would occur except for the beeps. There was no reason for my CRV to engage the emergency braking system. There was not a car in front of me or any other obstruction that would cause the automatic braking system to engage. It was a scary experience.

Jun 2022 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Automatic Emergency Braking system engaging without warning when no obstacle is in front of car. Very sudden, aggressive automatic braking puts my safety and that of other vehicles/drivers at risk of collision (rear-ending me). This has happened three times in the past week. I called dealer and they professed to have no knowledge of the problem. I am hesitant to bring the vehicle in for a “fishing expedition” if a repair shop doesn’t know what the problem is and definitely how to fix it.

Jun 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Driving on road and all of a sudden the car seemed like it was braking. We have don't automatic breaking. The dash lights came on. Engine, steering wheel !, traction control, brake system, and blinking brake light. The last few days it was taking more cranks, this started happening after a new fuel pump was installed last month. This was because of a fuel pump recall.

Jun 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The audio head unit software or hardware is defective. The unit resets repeatedly like someone is pressing the brightness button over and over again (beeping wildly). The problem is well described online as extremely common in newer Hondas. Honda has a TSB on it https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10163184-0001.pdf However, the dealers often won't replace these unless they can see the problem themselves, which only happens intermittently (in my case, I have many videos of the problem). But when it does it is an extreme safety hazard disabling the navigation system, climate controls, and other controls controlled by the head unit. Many people in online forums have had their units replaced multiple times to no avail. Honda should be forced to recall these defective audio head units. At the very least dealers should be instructed to fix the problem when videos of it are shown to the dealer.

May 2022 ENGINE Oil dilution issue in my 2019 Honda CRV. Gas getting into the oil and stalling the vehicle. Honda dealership changed oil, spark plugs and differential fluid. The dealership hasn’t taken responsibility of this issue or the Honda Corporation. I contacted them and get no response back.

May 2022 EQUIPMENT Touchscreen flashes and beeps. Brought it in to the Honda dealer twice and they said they did a hard reset of the screen. The vehicle was 6 months old with less than 4,000 miles when the issue started in January 2020. It happens intermittently and Honda has not been able to fix it. Today 5/11/22 the screen has gone completely blank. Now there is no rear back up camera, no climate control, no vehicle information or settings, no maps or radio information.

May 2022 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was driving at about 10:30 PM in downtown Chicago (the bridge over the river on Madison St) on May 4th when my automatic emergency braking system engaged. There were no cars or people in front of me on the street, nor was there any other object that I was in danger of hitting. I was driving at approximately the speed limit. There was a car behind me but luckily they were far enough back that when I pressed the foot brake and turned on my hazards, they were able to go around .

Apr 2022 VISIBILITY/WIPER Single internal 4" long windshield crack developed starting at the Honda Sensing safety suite sensor block built into the top of the windshield. This crack is growing in length on the passenger side of the windshield and is currently about 9" long. There were no windshield overheating or freezing issues (the crack originally appeared on 04/14/2022), no car incidents, or road hazards (like something hitting the windshield). My car is still under warranty but local Honda dealer refused to even take a look at the windshield condition stating that Honda's warranty does not cover windshield.

Apr 2022 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was driving into a parking lot behind my store, as I approached my parking space going roughly around 5-7mph the brakes engaged by itself for a brief second (as if i had slammed on the brake pedal and let go) leading me to lose control and hit the wall/back door of my store. All warning lights are now on, damaged the front bumper and I'm guessing the radar sensor in the front. Called my insurance to try to file a claim, if not covered will try to contact the dealership.
