| Sep 2022 | STRUCTURE | The contact owns 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while she was driving 75 MPH, she heard a noise coming from under the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. As she continued to drive, she heard a metal plate hitting the freeway and dragging. The contact stated she was able to pull over into the emergency lane and was able to get help with securing the skid plates with a wire. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who informed her that the skid plates were damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while she was driving 65 MPH, she heard the sound of the metal plate hitting the roadway underneath the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the skid plates needed to be removed and that the clamps were loosened. Additionally, there was damage to the flash guard. The contact stated that the vehicle was not repaired due to the parts not being available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 27,500. | Crash: No Fire: No | 27,500 |
| Sep 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My sunroof exploded as I was driving down the highway yesterday evening. It was sunny, and I was not driving under an overpass, and there were no vehicles near me. I did not see an object hit nor was there anything on the roof or in the hole. Just lots of shattered glass. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The fuel pump failed on my car. I am very lucky and fortunate that I had my car parked in my driveway. I had driven my car a couple times the day it happened and my car started and then immediately shut off, after that, the car would turn over but wouldn't turn on and the battery and oil lights were flashing. I did not need an oil change, I still had 70% life. I called AAA to come because I thought it was my battery, the technician told me that my battery was at 100% and he'd never seen a Honda do this before. I had my car towed to Honda where they found it to be the fuel pump. My car has a little less than 65,000 miles on it and is only 3.5 years old. My car had been running well up until this point. When I asked more and more questions about this, they said that I was getting power to my pump but it wasn't coming on. I was told that it wasn't going to ground. Again, I am lucky that I was in my driveway but they had told me that once my car got to the dealership, they had turned it on and it started up, but then it died. Luckily I wasn't on the road anywhere. I know there is an active recall for Honda CR-V fuel pumps but it doesn't cover what happened to my car which is ridiculous. In all the years I've been driving, I have never had an issue with a fuel pump before, nor should I ever. This is not part of a recall and it should be. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | My automatic braking system deployed unexpectedly while my foot was on the accelerator. I was driving my mother and accelerating to the posted speed of 50 mph with no car in front of me. Suddenly the "BRAKE" warning light came on the dashboard, as though I was coming too close to something, and the car started braking. My mother and I were suddenly leaning sharply forward and I was afraid the car on our tail would hit us. I had to turn into a driveway quickly. I have not taken the car to a dealer or service center yet. No one has inspected the vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Earlier today my brake warning light suddenly came on and my 2019 CRV suddenly slowed down. No cars were nearby on the street. I was driving just under the 40 MPH speed limit. This could have been a problem if a vehicle was behind me. A few hours later on the freeway my brake light suddenly came on again. I was driving just under the 65 MPH speed limit. No cars were nearby on the freeway. This time the car didn’t slow down. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I was opening the hatch to my CRV, and it just slammed shut. The hatch strut started leaking fluid, and it almost slam down on my head which would’ve been a pretty serious injury had it hit me. My vehicles only three years old and I don’t even use my hatch that often so I believe that it is gone bad | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | AIR BAGS | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his wife was seated in the passenger’s side front seat, the air bag sensor intermittently failed to recognize her in the seat causing the air bag off warning light to be illuminated. The contact notified the dealer of the failure and the dealer informed him that unless they could duplicate the failure, they could not diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 1,000 |
| Aug 2022 | STRUCTURE | Driver's side sun visor. This is a known issue to Honda. The original sun visor became rigid and very difficult to adjust. Honda replaced the original sun visor under warranty. The replacement has also become rigid and is very difficult to adjust. Now, the visor will not fold back into place and drops down, blocking my field of vision. I have the item available for inspection. Autonation Honda of Lewisville, Texas has confirmed this issue three times. Honda says this is a known issue and will not take further action to correct this, and since this is a common problem, there are no new sun visors available for sale, and they are currently on back order, for an unknown period of time. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | On Thursday, 8/25/2022, I was at a red light and when it turned green the vehicle ahead of me proceeded, I began moving when suddenly the automatic emergency braking system activated for no reason as the car ahead of me at that point was at least 4-5 car lengths and there was no oncoming traffic. Aside from startling me, the car behind me almost rearended me. The brakes activated, my foot was not on the brake pedal, and the warning light flashed on the dash along with the warning beeps. At that point I put my foot on the brake and the deactivated. I reported this issue to the dealer and they had me bring the car in and determined that it was caused by a low voltage in the battery, the car it 3 years old and only has 13,979 miles on it. The dealer replaced the battery but I wonder if I will experience this issue again in the future. I have to wonder why a battery would go soon, the car was purchased new, and why a low battery would cause an issue like this that could cause an accident. If this happened on the highway it could have resulted in a serious accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | AIR BAGS | My wife was on her way to work and she hit a deer. The damage estimate is approximately 5000.00 to the right front end. With that much damage the air bags should have deployed but failed to do so | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | 1) The following has occurred 5 separate times on 5 separate days: I was driving on a 2-lane road on 4 occasions going anywhere from 25mph to 35mph, and on a 5-lane freeway on 1 occasion going 65mph. My brakes suddenly engaged and my car came to a full stop. The "BRAKE" notification flashed on my dashboard continuously for 30 seconds to 60 seconds. I was unable to steer car for another 1-2 minutes after. Each time it felt like a slam and my body was physically moved in whiplash mode. All items in my car flew around. Each time this occurred there was not another vehicle, object or person in front of me nor beside me. However there were cars behind me. On 3 of those instances, the cars behind me swerved. On all 5 instances I was shaken to my core. I did not want to drive for a day or two after. I have been terrified ever since. I could have been killed each of those times. My son could have been killed or severely injured on 2 of those occasions he was in the passenger's seat. The other drivers who had to swerve violently to get around my car could have also been killed or severely injured. Each of those times the dashboard has lit up every single icon. I have been told I have to pay to have this problem checked out. I do not have the means for this. I purchased my vehicle brand new off the lot. This is unacceptable and honestly terrifying, both for the risk of death and injury, and financially. 2)Electric Parking Brake Problem- my car refuses to start after this event. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | For the 4th time in a year and a half, my CR-V has failed to start. I've had it in for dealership servicing twice on this issue and even replaced the battery at their recommendation. It did not fix the problem and they have since told me that they can't identify the problem and said it could be with the computer system (I did purchase an additional warranty for the computer system). In addition to the car failing to start and needing a jump start, the dashboard will start beeping and go blank, or flash a warning message that does not fit the situation. I consider this situation to be a safety issue as it leaves me without a reliable car for travel due to the uncertainty of being able to start the car. The latest episode was today and it was 88 degrees out and I had my 91 yr old father and my dog with me. Waiting for assistance in the heat was very hard on them. My father felt sick due to the long exposure to heat. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) engaged and the vehicle decelerated inadvertently. However, there were no other vehicles or objects around. The brake assist warning light was illuminated. The contact stated the failure had been reoccurring increasingly and it seemed like the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) was pulling the vehicle to the left each time it engaged. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving approximately 22 MPH, the vehicle stalled abruptly. The contact stated that the brakes locked up. The contact stated she had traveled over a metal plate on the road several times previously. The contact waited for 4 to 5 seconds before the vehicle would move. The Forward Collision Assist Mitigation warning light was illuminated. There was a loud abnormal grinding noise detected. The contact called the local dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Action Number: PE22003 (Forward Collision Avoidance). The failure mileage was 57,370. | Crash: No Fire: No | 57,370 |
| Aug 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | When driving on a main road at about 45 mph, the automated braking system slammed on the brakes, slowing me down to 20mph. At this time, my foot was already on the brake as I was going through an intersection so I was slowing down. There was nothing in front of me. This happened on 8/20/2022. Thankfully there was no car behind me, otherwise I would have been rear-ended. On several other occasions, the automatic brake warning has gone off when there is no obstruction in front of the car, but this was the first time the brakes actually slowed the car down significantly. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Driving 45MPH on a two lane road, no oncoming traffic, no obstructions, one car 1/4 mile behind mine. Suddenly, I heard three beeps and lost control of the vehicle. The brake mitigation system activated bringing the car to a dangerous stop in traffic. This was sudden, random and without any warning. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Multiple times all of my dashboard lights come on without notice. After checking my battery, there was no reason. It comes on for days then off. I took it to the honda dealership to che k it it. They stated that it was the fuel injectors, however my year of Honda is mot in the repair. After calling the corporate Honda and Honda of Stonecrest, I have gotten no response at all. It has been close to 2 months. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | EQUIPMENT | 2019 HONDA CR-V CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 2 MONTHS AND HAD 24,000 MILES. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THAT VEHICLE BE REPAIRED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE MANUFACTURER. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | TIRES | A Honda 2019 CR-V EX 2WD was purchased in March of 2019 and came with OE Hankook Kinergy GT 235/60R18 H436 tires. The DOT# 5M3V1BH5018 (One tire) and 5M3V1BH5118 (Three tires). The vehicle was garage kept and most of the mileage driven was within the state of Tennessee. All four tires were rotated every 5,000 miles and balanced every 10,000 miles by the Honda dealership that sold the vehicle. A multi-point inspection was performed every 5,000 miles that included steering, braking, struts, and suspension components with no issues found. Tire pressure was monitored by both the owner and dealer during routine maintenance. Road noise began after the 12,000-mileage maintenance and could be seen as uneven tire treadwear. At 15,000 miles the dealership performed a four-wheel alignment to correct the problem, but the noise continued and became more pronounced at higher speeds. It became difficult to hold a conversation or listen to the radio without turning up the volume. By 23,000 miles it became apparent that the inside and outside tread on all four tires had become scalloped. The dealership confirmed the diagnosis and recommended new tires. They stated that continuing to drive with the cupped tire tread was not a safety issue. In contrary, most retail tire or automobile repair websites universally agree that driving with scalloped tires is dangerous. The decreased amount of tire tread to road contact causes reduced traction and increased braking distances, on wet driving surfaces and in emergency situations. The dealership service advisor also shared information that Hankook uses substandard material in the manufacturing of their OE tires leading to premature wear and possible failure. How does this tire justify a treadwear rating of 540 and mileage warranty of 70,000 miles when an entire set of four tires became useless and unsafe at 15,000 miles? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | On or about August 8th 2022, while traveling on Rt. 561 (Haddonfield- Berlin Rd. driving my 2019 CR-V my automatic brakes engaged erroneously. My son was with me in the front passenger seat when the brakes automatically engaged. This occurred while we were approaching Laurel Rd in one of two dedicated left turn lanes. There were no cars around me at that time. The driver’s side tires did track over the painted hashed yellow median stripping briefly. It’s a wide open area. It was not a harsh break but it jolted the car. I did not notice any signals on the dash and no sound of alarm was heard. This is the first time this has occurred. I understand that the NHSTA is investigating similar reports. Weather was clear and sun was out. I am scheduling a visit to the dealer, Burn’s Honda of Cherry Hill. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Emergency Automatic Braking engaged and almost stopped the vehicle. They remained driving during the failure. The brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no additional assistance was provided. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Action Number: PE22003 (Forward Collision Avoidance). The approximate failure mileage was 19,000 The VIN was not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | 19,000 |
| Aug 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Twice this has happened. Driving on normal city streets, approximately 35 mph, come to the metal plates on the road in construction area Nad car slams on its brakes and comes to a complete stop in traffic, almost causing an accident and scaring heck out of the occupants of the vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle suddenly came to an abrupt stop. During the failure, there were no other vehicles nearby to cause the Forward Collision Avoidance System to be activated. The cause of the failure was not determined. | Jul 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was driving our car on a suburban side street, maybe going 15 MPH, and all of a sudden the car just completely to an abrupt stop and we were all jerked backwards. The dashboard displayed a rectangle that said BRAKE in all caps, which I'd never seen before. There was absolutely nothing in front of us or in our way. No dog, no person, nothing. It was like someone had pulled an emergency brake and stopped the car out of nowhere. We were OK, though my son in the backseat said the seatbelt pushed against his neck. It was really scary and unsettling. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
