Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Mar 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE On three separate occasions the vehicle has audibly alarmed and showed (“Brake”) on the dash and then violently activated the brakes without my touching the brake pedal at a speed of over 40-50 MPH. This occurred when there was no vehicle or obstacle anywhere near my vehicle. This potentially could have caused a rear end collision if another vehicle had been behind me. I called the local Honda dealer and the service advisor told me he had heard of this happening and he had no solution other than shutting off this system each time I start the vehicle. That is unacceptable to me as this is potentially very dangerous.

Mar 2023 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Every warning light flashing, loss of power and none of the advanced features working. Took to Honda dealer on multiple occasions and can't diagnose issue. Had regular maintenance done and now the radiator hose blew off while driving and won't star. Bought brand new and have records of maintenance. Very dangerous due to lack if acceleration when trying to merge or turn into traffic.

Feb 2023 FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, there was a loud noise coming from under the hood of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over safely, and the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the vehicle was experiencing the failure stated in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact was advised to contact the dealer for assistance. The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 170,000.

Feb 2023 STEERING The steering wheel began slipping (without moving the wheels), especially when turning the wheel all the way to one side or another to make a turn starting in November 2022. Kept getting worse, although it was intermittent; it started trying to move the steering wheel the opposite direction when turning or while driving down the road. Dealer was unable to duplicate it a month after it started, although they recommended the replacement of the gear box (electric p/s rack). Four local mechanics checked it and three confirmed the gear box (electric p/s rack) was most likely faulty, due to the driver assist sensor issue that had been occurring in 2017 and 2018 models. The recall information for both years matched the symptoms and it kept getting worse to the point that the steering wheel intermittently slipped up to 90 degrees while holding it to make a turn. Finally had to have the electric p/s rack replaced at my cost, as the dealer wouldn't cover it. Vehicle now steering normally.

Feb 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I bought the CRV new, and it now has 31,000 miles on it and was never in an accident. On three occasions the breaks engaged without warning. There was no car in front of me and no reason for the breaks to engage. The car went into a fast slowdown form 45MPH to about 10 MPH when the breaks disengaged by themselves, and the car returned to normal. When this happened the Orange BREAK banner in the speedometer window, went on. This is obviously a very hazardous defect. If I were Highway driving, someone would have surely ran into me for stopping so suddenly without any provocation. I read somewhere Honda is aware of this and is investigating it. But I worried about using the car as it may happen at any time without warning,

Feb 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Vehicle has had phantom braking and accelerations, occurrences of "Christmas tree dashboard" with all system alerts going off - have been intermittent, far between and unsure how to go about presenting to dealership or auto repair due to this - however THIS OCCURRED TODAY AND CAUSED A COLLISION/ ACCIDENT! My looking into the issue online has shown that this is a problem that many others have also had and that NHTSA has opened an investigation into it with honda! AGAIN - MY VEHICLE IS NOW DAMAGED AND I AM INJURED DUE TO THIS SYSTEM MALFUNCTION/ERROR! Today while in slow moving traffic to turn onto interstate, car started having the phantom breaking and jolting forwards out of my control. All of the system failure alerts started going off (I've been able to clear in the past by turning off and turning on car multiple times in a row and on the 5-7th restart they go away) - while slowing moving forward across railroad tracks - the railroad lights and barriers then also started to decend (unexpectedly, as they had just been down shortly before - less than 2 minutes) - I attempted to accelerate forward to clear my vehicle from the tracks and my vehicle jolted forward - despite my own braking, the vehicle's forward collision mitigation also failed and the brakes did not/would not apply hard enough (or as hard as I was applying) in order to prevent collision with vehicle in front of me. I attempted to veer to the left at the last second to avoid any collision - which limited damage to truck in front of me to very minimal, but my car's front right is moderately damaged. ADDITIONALLY - driver airbag deployed despite speed being under 35mph and collision not at a level that warranted airbag deployment - thus ALSO INJURING ME AND CAUSING ADDITIONAL CAR DAMAGE. NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY DUE TO PERSON INJURIES AND VEHICLE IMPAIRMENT!

Feb 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I have had my cross traffic alert come on at least 5 other times. There was no reason for it to alert. Unfortunately this time it came on while traveling on a 2 lane street going 40mph and jammed my brakes on slowing me down to almost a complete stop. Causing me to lunge forward and hurt my right hand. There was no reason for this to happen. Luckily no one was behind me or I may have been hurt seriously. I am now scared to drive my car. I have made an appointment to take my car in on Monday for repair. I do not want this car anymore and have no confidence in its safety.

Feb 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Oil dilution problem with fuel. This is a known issue with the 2019 Honda CRV. I bought the vehicle new in August 2019 and had to change the oil 8 months later because the oil level had risen well above the maximum mark on the dipstick due to fuel contamination. I currently (2/10/2023) have to change my oil 3 times per year so that it doesn't get to diluted so as to cause excessive engine wear. I drive less than 12,000 miles/year.

Feb 2023 STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES All my car systems started to flash warning failure lights including brakes, steering, transmission and all the safety features. My car would start but I couldn't move it out of park and all the warning lights for every system on the car blinked failure. The wire harness that connects to the rearview mirror caused my entire car to shut down and become inoperable. I had to have it towed and it cost me $1552.53 in repairs. I did some research and other people are having the same issue. Critical systems like brakes shouldn’t be connected to things like mirrors. This is a critical safety concern. This issue should have a recall. The 2019 models having a bit of wire that hangs down is clearly a design / engineering flaw. I shouldn’t have to pay to repair this. I would like to know what Honda’s plan is to fix this issue. I have found reports of others having the same issue. My hanging my handicap plate card on the rear view mirror shouldn’t short out the entire car. Legally that is where we are suppose to hang it. People with disabilities have lower incomes and shouldn’t be penalized for Honda design errors. I would like my money refunded. I think Honda should warn customers of this flaw. I also think Honda needs to fix this on all existing and future models. I was lucky this didn't happen while I was driving on the highway to my destination.

Jan 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was driving at highway speed on a highway, no other vehicles in front of the car when the automatic emergency braking system suddenly engaged, slamming on the brakes. There was no indication or dash lighting indicating that I should brake, and there were no objects in the road. The vehicle has not yet been inspected and the dealership has informed me that there is no recall for the braking system. Had there been a car directly behind me this would resulted in a collision.

Jan 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE While driving 45 miles an hour my car braked on its own. Luckily there was no vehicle behind me, in front of me or pulling in from a side road. I was thrown forward and everything on my passenger seat was thrown on the floorboard (purse,etc.). I am taking it to the local dealership, where I purchased it in the morning.

Jan 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The forward collision or automatic brake system engaged for no reason, Zero cars on the road. The car beeped and then came to a complete stop, luckily no vehicles were behind me or I would have been involved in a car accident. The LCD screen beeps, turns on and off, brightens appears and go and down. It won’t stop until you turn the car off. It’s happened numerous times. The backseat passenger window went down and wouldn’t go up either by backseat passenger door or driver door, heard clicking by shutting the car off it fixed it.

Jan 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE On December 30, 2022 I was driving my vehicle between the speed of 40-45 MPH through an intersection on a overcast day mid afternoon around 11:30 AM there were no vehicles in front, behind, or either side of me. I was the only vehicle in the intersection. All of a sudden the car did an automatic hard brake. So hard I was lifted off my seat and my head almost hit the steering wheel. The mid of my back from the force back into to my seat has hurt me for a few days after the incident. Luckily there was no one behind me or I'm sure I would have been rear ended due to the hard sudden stop for no reason at all. A few days later after the holidays on January 4, 2023 I called my local Honda Service Department told them about the incident and asked if they needed to inspect my vehicle or anything they could do to fix the system. I was told there is nothing they can do at this time Honda Corporation as a whole has not done any kind of update to the programing or summited any kind of service requirement to correct. He advised for me to turn the function off every time I turn on my vehicle. At this time Honda or no one else has inspected the vehicle and I have continued to turn the function off so it has not reoccurred at this time and I sure hope to never experience it again. There were no warning lamps or messages the day of the incident. Since I have owed the vehicle on multiple occasions I have gotten a "Brake" message pop up on the dash when nothing is in front of me but never has the vehicle did an auto brake like it did on December 30th.

Dec 2022 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM 2019 CRV 18k mileage stalled without warning while making a right turn onto a heavily travelled two-lane road with a 50 mph speed limit blocking all southbound traffic at the crest of a steep hill. Car would not restart or jump-start. Battery was fine and car started 5 minutes beforehand. No warning lights rough idling, etc. Just dead-stopped. It was towed to a Honda Service Center and problem was diagnosed as a defective fuel pump relay.

Dec 2022 VISIBILITY The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while idled, the heater and defogger system failed to operate above 40 degrees. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that due to the engine size, the heating system performed as designed. The contact was concerned that due to inclement weather, the failure could cause a safety risk to his health. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

Dec 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Brightness control of the center console infotainment unit will randomly cycle through it’s settings; day, night, and off. Problem has occurred multiple times since I purchased vehicle in early 2021. Typically happens during the day with full sunshine, but has happened three days in row now with rainy/cloudy weather. Have shown video of problem occurring to a Honda dealer service tech and after inspecting, was told they could not reproduce problem.

Dec 2022 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE While driving 55-65 MPH on the expressway my vehicles brake system activated, slamming the brakes, without an object or vehicle within my line of sight. The first time it happened, I thought perhaps it incorrectly detected a car where there was a shadow from an overhead bridge. This has happened at least two additional times without warning or issue. As I was driving on the expressway at a high speed, this was a potentially dangerous situation where I could've caused a collision due to randomly braking without warning or expectation. There were zero warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to failure. I receive regular maintenance for my vehicle and always take it to the dealer for scheduled maintenance. My vehicle has been in an accident unrelated to this issue, but this has happened prior to the accident as well as after.
