| Feb 2023 | POWER TRAIN | The truck was purchased used in October 2022 with 82k miles on it, but it appeared to be operating fine from the dealership. Shortly after the purchase, the transmission started hard shifting and also hesitating between shifts. I took the vehicle into a Ford dealership and they test drove it saying it was normal, but also refused to check the PCM to see if the calibration was the most current from Ford. On February 27, 2023, as I was passing a slow moving vehicle on a highway the gears starting acting erratically, jumping from 8th up to 10th, then dropping all power (while showing that it was in 1st gear on the dash), then suddenly hard downshifting in the pass, almost causing me to lose control of the vehicle in the pass. After completing the pass, a "wrench" light came on, so I stopped at the nearest place I could to see what it was saying. My FordPass app said it was a powertrain issue, but then as I restarted the truck, the wrench cleared. I was able to make the rest of the drive home, but with extra clunky and hard shifting. I've now taken the truck in for an inspection, but have been seeing online that this is a common problem, which is wildly unsafe of Ford to have not fixed this. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER,VISIBILITY | Back glass shattered for no reason , alone on a state highway with no houses and other traffic . Thousands of not hundreds of thousands of other people have had the same thing happen to them in f150s for years apparently. A quick google search didn’t take long to read hundreds of other f150 owners sharing the same experience . Ford refuses to accept responsibility for what is an obvious design flaw. Broken shards of glass flying around in the cab . Luckily I didn’t have my grandson in the backseat today. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY | Hello! Twice now I have been driving down the road in my 2019 Ford 150 and the back windshield had blown out like a bomb. The 2nd incident happened yesterday and shook us to the core as my two little ones were in the back seat and had glass all over them! I am waiting a call back from our ford dealer, Kuhio Ford (Lihue, Kauai). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | POWER TRAIN | I was driving on the freeway at about 75 MPH. I wanted to pass another car, so I pressed the accelerator petal to 100% (floored it) and took my foot off the petal immediately because I changed my mind. Roughly 1 to 2 seconds after the inputs, the engine rev'd up to about 3000 rpm, and then changed gears, jerking my truck so violently I could have lost control. I was able to get the behavior to repeat for me, and next time I'm on the freeway I'll try to record it. It's possible I was in cruise control and in eco mode. I have been having many issues with the transmission, including some 'bucking', shuddering, harsh shifts, grinding noises, rattling noises, high-pitch whine, surging revolutions, stuck in gears to name a few. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | POWER TRAIN | My F-150 is currently inoperable and unable to be repaired due to TSB 22-2139, which is a fundamental issue with the 10 speed transmission. To summarize the issue, the transmission at certain times will not shift gears while driving, which is a significant safety hazard. My truck has been at a Ford dealership for close to 30 days now, and Ford is unable to provide an ETA on replacing the transmission. There is a current national backorder for the 10 speed transmission and no ETA in resolving it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES | Rear tailgate opens when door opens without activating the remote/automatic feature that opens the tailgate. It also opens when I’m traveling in traffic. It’s a danger to me and traffic if something is in my truck bed or even if nothing is in there and it opens and someone is too close it will hit there vehicle | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | When I place my vehicle in park on my driveway, it rolled backwards and collided with the vehicle behind it. when this event occurred, the truck was in park for over an hour before rolling backwards. This is not the first time that it has done this and when I saw it happen the first time, it was only for a distance of two feet and all the wheels were turning when it rolled backwards. The truck was only in 2 wheel drive mode and 4 wheel drive automatic mode. We are now trying to leave it in 4 High wheel drive when parked. Our driveway is on an incline and we do live in Mn. Our driveway was clear of snow and ice when this occurred and the temperature was 40 degrees. We are not allowed to park our vehicles on the street overnight but have asked for a special permit given the damage to the vehicle parked behind the truck that was hit when the truck rolled backwards. This was over 4 feet when the truck rolled and the vehicle that was hit stopped the truck from rolling further. We confirmed the truck was in park when this incident occurred. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced rough idling with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cam phaser needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: 21N03 - Supplement #3 (Cam Phaser Replacement) however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 76,000 |
| Feb 2023 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that his client's back-up camera was display a cloudy and blurred image while in use. The contact called the dealer and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V252000 (Back Over Prevention) and referred him to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the same information as the dealer. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 29,870. | Crash: No Fire: No | 29,870 |
| Feb 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | 3.5 ecoboost , water leaking inside cab floors from the AC, sunroof, or back window causing a potentially toxic condition as it holds under the carpet and padding with no way to escape. My truck has Cam phaser issues in that it rattles at idle and while driving Engine sounds like a diesel. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Automatic transmission shifts gears erratically. (1) Much delayed shifting from 1st gear to 3rd gear. (Also occurs at the following gear ratio changes: 3rd to 5th and 5th to 7th.) This stalls the acceleration of the vehicle for sufficient time so that a rear end collision can occur if the driver of vehicle behind is not vigilant. (2) While driving on a freeway at 65mph, the vehicle has lost acceleration while the transmission gear indicator shows random gear hunting (10, 7, 3, 1, 9...) and finally abruptly reengaging in a gear to allow forward power. This behavior results in vehicle speed, while in the high speed freeway lane, slowing from 65 to 30 and then slowly accelerating to a more appropriate speed once a gear reengaged. This condition was conducive to a rear end collision. Ford has no availability dates for either a replacement transmission or internal transmission parts so the vehicle is being diagnosed by an independent transmission repair shop. The vehicle may be inspected there if required. (Dealer has confirmed the odd shifting behavior.) Vehicle warning light occurred subsequent to the above behavior. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | On Monday, January 9, 2023 the vehicle shut off while driving in traffic, and was difficult to restart. It seemed like the battery was dead, but it wasn’t. This incident happened again within about a 15 minute time Period. Safety was obviously put at risk as this happened in a major metropolitan area, Miami, on the road during rush hour. The dealer has had the vehicle for the last two weeks, but was not able to reproduce the problem and cannot find anything wrong. When the vehicle shut off, a warning came up on the dash which said “auto stop, put the truck in park and restart the engine.” But again, it did not want to turn over to restart, and only did so with difficulty. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | POWER TRAIN | I was accelerating onto the interstate and just as I was about to merge onto the right lane the truck just all of sudden without warning shifted out of gear like it had been manually shifted to neutral. The engine of course revved up considerably and I of course lost speed immediately which thank the lord I did not have traffic that I was merging into that could have been really bad. It only happened that one time and has not happened since. I have had some really hard shifting going on but nothing like that. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while at the gas station the pump nozzle failed to go into the fuel filler neck correctly. The contact stated that the flap opened but the pump nozzle failed to fit as needed. The contact drove to another gas station to locate a pump nozzle that would fit into the fuel filler neck. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 140. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently downshifted to first gear. The contact stated that the transmission was slipping. The contact stated that the gear shifter was stuck. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission skipped first gear and shifted straight to third gear, and then shifted to tenth gear. The service wrench symbol was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer to be diagnosed and it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced; the parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 50,000 |
| Jan 2023 | POWER TRAIN | purchased in 2019 a new 2019 f150-lariat under 60k miles 1st incident 1month after purchase Transmission lunged forward after it was in park almost throwing me off the truck running board while getting out. Ford Dallas service Dept.stated this was normal sent me away. A few months later took it back in the gears were shifting hard while driving and making a loud sound .Service Dept stated they could not hear or see any problem with the transmission-sent me away- Oct 2022 dropped it off transmission went from 10gear to 2nd gear on the highway. nearly got killed. 3 months later I received a call truck was ready. After driving off AGAIN transmission fluid was leaking on the exhaust and causing bad smoke on the highway the gears Again started to shift from 10gear to 2nd and 1st gear had to pull over off the highway. Dropped it off again at the nearest Ford which this time it stayed for another month and they stated it exhaust was cleaned up and they could not find a issue wrong with the transmission. I drove off AGAIN the transmission started leaking causing smoke while driving, Dropping gears on the highway and hitting hard. I NEARLY GOT killed on the highway because of transmission shifting down the way it is and smoke. As of today My truck is sitting in the driveway unable to drive due to faulty transmission . I will not put my family in this unsafe vehicle that Ford could do nothing to fix. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | POWER TRAIN | When driving normal conditions from a stop to accelerate the truck completely loses power to drive and gears shift super hard in a jerking motion. When trying to accelerate onto highway from stop sign it will go to 15mph then the engine will rev and gear goes to 1 and then back to gear I was originally in but the whole time the truck does not accelerate in speed which pulling out onto highway can cause me to get rear ended as the highway I pull onto from my street is 2 lane 55mph highway. It does this at all speeds and now reverse only work when it is cold . I have videos there are to big to upload on this application form | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | ENGINE | cam phaser recall performed by dealer prior to 36k miles. at 36k miles, returned to dealer with same rattle noise from engine, dealer said was noise from backpressure at exhaust near turbo. at 40k miles, engine failed in middle of intersection. Advised by dealer the engine is total loss and will need to be replaced, declined to agree that the cam phaser timing chain was the result, stated that the issue was in the lower end of the engine, which is where the oil pump is....that runs off the timing chain. prior to the failure, I experienced slight power loss, complete momentary power loss shifting between gears 2 and 3, slight knocking noise from the engine that mimicked a diesel engine sound, as well as the stated rattle noise. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | There is a serious design flaw with this truck that allows water to enter the passenger side cab via a ford designed hole where the condensate drain exits the fire wall, The water causes severe mold to form and fester bc the water keeps coming, my vehicle is at the dealership now and fully admits even through report that this is a design flaw. Last I checked mold was not a good thing to be encapsulated in a cab with. Further more not only is the mold there but the intake for the HVAC system sits right there as well sucking the tainted air in and redistributing it through the vehicle | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | My wife was driving my truck while I was hospitalised after emergency surgery. While driving, an emergency noise sounded and a “Brake Fluid Low” light came on. Immediately after that, the truck was difficult to stop - having to put the pedal all the way to the floor. She immediately went to a local full service gas station to have some brake fluid put in. She was told there that there was brake fluid all over the engine under the hood and that the brake hose was busted. They topped off the brake fluid and followed her home, one mile away, where she parked the truck (said she was scared driving and several times was unable to come to a complete stop - luckily no one hit her!). Upon getting out of the hospital, I called the dealership where I purchased the truck and an extended warranty that I pay $75-$100/ month for. I was told I was responsible for getting truck to them (in another town 15 miles away) and that most likely it would be covered under my warranty. I contacted my insurance company and filed an Emergency Roadside claim to have the truck towed to the dealership since undriveable. I’ve just received a call from dealership, Jones Ford in Humboldt, TN. They say my brake line is not covered because not a mechanical failure. They say the hose came loose and rubbed against the steering column and because of that, the warranty did not cover the brakes. They said I might have gone off-roading (which I didn’t). I am self-employed and use my truck daily. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Vehicle screen keeps restarting like it’s a brand new car every time I turn on the vehicle. Navigation stops working the screen will start lagging and sometimes it will go black while driving. Won’t do updates to new version of sync. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | 11-Jan-2023 18:01 CST approximate temperature 47F. Commuting home the vehicle was driven approximately 30 minutes on the highway. Stopped for fast food and it was turned off for less than 10 minutes. Restarted without issue drove out to a stop light to make a left turn. Auto start-stop turned off the engine but failed to restart. Put vehicle in park vehicle would not restart normally, and multiple restart attempts failed. Restarted vehicle with an jump start battery pack. Drove straight to Autozone and battery tested fully charged on printed receipt. Vehicle restarted normally twice in parking lot. Drove home battery tested 12.7 volts with multimeter. I don't suspect that the battery is the issue. The vehicle battery management system should detect a low battery and disable auto start-stop. My preference is not to have to work under the hood in the middle of traffic in the dark. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | POWER TRAIN,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Gear slipping, harsh shifting, jerking, sudden acceleration or hesitation problems, and general loss of power. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | SEAT BELTS | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the front driver's side seat belt failed to latch securely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not under warranty. No warning light was illuminated. The contact notified another dealer, and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 90,000 |
| Jan 2023 | ENGINE | Auto stop start shift to P then restart engine message came up . Vehicle stopped while in drive almost causing an accident. Very unsafe condition. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
