| Feb 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | My vehicle is not registering whenever it is put into park. The dashboard keeps signaling that it needs to be shifted into park when it already is and refuses to turn the vehicle off because it’s not registering that it did is in park. Upon researching the issue, I found that this is a common problem due to defective parts and once fixed by the dealership people have reported having the same problem within the next few thousand miles. This same issue is happening with different models of gm vehicles as well and I believe due to the widespread and common occurrence of this specific related issue that there needs to be a recall to have the problem resolved. I am unable to even drive my vehicle due to this. I can not turn my vehicle completely off which drains the battery. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My Chevy Traverse LT has only 15,500 miles. A few weeks after my 3 year warranty expired I started getting an "Action Required Shift to Park" message and the car would not recognize it was in park. After numerous attempts it would eventually recognize and turn off properly. Not only is this frustrating but also dangerous. I called the dealer I purchased from and his only offer was to put it on the diagnostic machine told me that that would be deducted from the total. When I asked what the ballpark figure would be, he said he did not know which tells me that they could just charge me whatever they wanted. He said he knew about this problem and the bulletin that was issued and had fixed many. I'm assuming he should know a ballpark figure but the way he was doing it I wouldn't know until it was all said and done shameful way to do business for a known problem. I called Chevrolet Customer Service and was told it was covered under the power train warranty. Then I found a Chevy dealer in Smithville who acknowledged this is an ongoing problem, not covered by warranty and quoted me $500 to repair by replacing the sensor and harness. He got my business by being honest. I have been a loyal Chevy customer for 50+ years and now rethinking what make car I will get in the future. I am perplexed why Chevy doesn't issue a recall for this issue since a car needs to be in park and turned off. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | POWER TRAIN | The transmission is shifted into park mechanism does not work. Can’t turn off the engine. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to turn off after the vehicle was shifted to PARK. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted and an appointment was scheduled however, the vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 43,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 43,000 |
| Feb 2022 | POWER TRAIN | Computer keeps saying shift into park after the car is in park and I’m trying to shut the car off. I then have to jiggle the throttle into park in order for it to recognize it’s already in park. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | POWER TRAIN | The transmission is shifted into park mechanism does not work and is available for inspection. The Shift Into Park notice in the Driver Information Center lights and chimes as long as the system does not believe the transmission is not in park. This will cause the battery to go dead, or in some instances you can't turn off the engine nor leave the vehicle until this error is cleared. It has been confirmed by a dealer (Henna) whose service contact said they had the same problem on their 2019 Traverse plus many, many comments about this problem for this and other GM models which have been posted on the Internet. The vehicle nor the component have been inspected by others, but another dealer will be attempting to fix the problem under one of serveral TSBs created by GM. No other warnings nor symptoms happened before this started. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Unknown what component is failing. When honking the horn, the radio station changes. It is available upon inspection. When the station changes to another station, at times the new station is a lot louder than the original station. This is distracting and causes the driver to look at the Entertainment Center and away from the road. This puts everyone in the vehicle at risk for an accident. Other drivers or pedestrians are risk for the same reason. The vehicle has been inspected several times by the dealership that sold us the vehicle who said they could not reproduce the error. No warnings appeared before nor as the error happens. This appeared within the first year of ownership. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | WHEELS | The tire pressure monitoring system shows incorrect information. It is of by 3 - 5 psi when compared to a tire pressure gauge the is tested & calibrated accurate to ±2% at our JACO NIST and ANSI certified calibration lab. Not knowing the correct tire air pressure risks a blowout while traveling. The component will be inspected within 5 days at a Chevrolet dealership service center. The failure causes alerts on the Driver Information Center to the incorrect tire pressure. The error first appeared around June 2020 while checking the tire pressure with my gauge. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | On several occasions when trying to park my vehicle I would get a “Shift to Park” error message on my dash. Despite turning the car back on and off, the error message did not go away. I had to do this several times before it’d go away. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES | Brake system failed. car crash forward. personal and passenger safety at risk.. The problem is not confirmed by a dealer or independent representatives or others yet, only reported to insurance . no police record. , UNKNOWN. I was making a very slow right turn with foot on brakes for a distance of no more than 5 meters to make room behind me and other cars, in preparation to reverse park or rear /back parking. when suddenly the car accelerate , going forward .. the car hits a barrier which put the car to stop. I was on the brake pedal the whole time. With the car at stopped at the barrier and foot still on brake pedal, I am able to shift to reverse gear and parked the car. The impact is very strong that it damaged the front end mostly right side and transmission problem, transmission oil leak and alignment of tires. Thank you very much | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | “Shift to park” message when car is put in Park and car cannot be turned off. Reshifting fid not fix the problem. Drove it around a bit then was able to turn it off. Apparently this is a known defect. Dealer who fixed mine says he gets a few every week. Should be a recall since this is definitely a hazard. My car was 6 weeks out of warranty with 30844 miles on it do I had to pay nearly $500 for the repair. And after reading reports, it may recur. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The contact stated that the vehicle was turned off however, the instrument panel lights remained powered on. The contact exited the vehicle and an audible alert was sounded indicating that the vehicle was still on and running. The contact was also unable to securely lock the vehicle. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer, where it was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,400. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 32,400 |
| Feb 2022 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Intermittently after I put the Trans. in park and shut off the engine I get a message to shift trans. to park. I repeat the process of starting and stopping engine and shifting in and out of park several more times. I can't leave the vehicle until the message stops appearing. If I get out and shut the door the radio keeps playing and doors will not automatically lock. I'm concerned that I have an electrical short and might catch fire. I park in a garage at home and could lose my home or life if it caught fire I have an appointment with my dealer 2/7/2022. As of this date I have not reported the issue to anyone. The problem started just before Christmas and stopped for several weeks and now it's back again. There are no pre-warnings before the issue occurs. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2022 | STEERING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | Stopped at a red light in left lane of a two way highway. When light turned green car stalled out. Steering locked and brakes locked. Got truck to side of road. Lights and radio still worked. Truck would not turn over or start. Dashboard was fully lit. Had towed to dealer. According to dealer it was starter and flywheel | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING | Left rear light side-marker assembly is not functional after 3 years in service and less than 29,000 miles. The side marker indicator inside the vehicle flashes rapidly (in quick succession) when the left blinker is applied. This indicated to me that a bulb was out. Initially, all lights were working when inspecting and inside flasher was quickly blinking. After checking multiple times, the left rear blinker finally stopped working altogether. This left rear indicator mark prevents others from knowing which direction I'm turning unless I stick my left arm out the window. The vehicle was taken in to dealership. Dealership said it needed the light assembly replaced at a cost of ~$867. We may have this done outside of an OEM dealership due to cost. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When I put the car in PARK, turn the vehicle off, with my foot on the brake; the dashboard relentlessly signals to put the vehicle in Park. It will not stop this notice until I stop/start the car a few times or repeatedly press the gear shift lever. It happens intermittently, but at least 3-4 times a week. As a woman, the idea of going shopping and coming out to a dead car battery from this problem is always in the front in my mind and some stranger “helping” me, instead mugs me. I am terrified that it will cause an electrical fire under my carport and burn my house down with us inside. I haven’t had my Premiere long and absolutely love it and I have been a Chevy fan for years, but I have always felt Chevrolet took care of their customers. Is it going to take a terrible loss for these Traverse to be recalled? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | When I put the car in PARK and turn the vehicle off, the dashboard signals a notice to put the vehicle in Park. It will not stop the notice until I stop / start the car a few times. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Getting “shift to park” message repeatedly when car is IN park. Sometimes can short term fix with go back to drive and then shifting to park again. Worried this will drain battery or cause car to roll out of driveway if it’s not reading that it’s in park. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle a strong burning odor was present coming from the air vents inside the cabin of the vehicle. Later it was discovered that oil leaked from the vehicle onto the floor of the garage. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 19,000. | Crash: No Fire: Yes | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | AIR BAGS | I have had two accidents in this vehicle and reported to GM that my air bags did not deploy each time. The first accident was almost $20,000 in damage. The second accident disabled my car on impact and smoke filled my car where the airbags were. We hit a large deer head on going 60mph on the interstate and I had my toddlers with me. GM said last accident there was no faulty airbags. They assure me my vin is not involved but due to the severity of the accident I believe otherwise | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while attempting to park the vehicle and shifting into PARK, the shift to PARK warning light was illuminated. The contact called Reliable Chevrolet (9901 Coors Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114: (505) 216-2993) & Larry H. Miller Casa Chevrolet (7201 Lomas Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110: (505) 633-2215) and the dealers were made aware of the failure. | Nov 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | When the vehicle is in park and turned off, will receive shift to park errors. have to turn the car back on and off multiple times and reput the car to park to get the code off. The vehicle will not turn off with shift to park message. This is a huge safety issue | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | POWER TRAIN | My 2019 Chevrolet Traverse LT with ~28,600 miles on it within the past month has been providing me with a 'Shift to Park' error on the Driver Information Center (DIC) when I have already shifted it to Park and shut the car off (engine no longer running). The shifter assembly is not recognizing that I in fact do not have it in gear and the car is in Park. The error does not go away until I re-start the car, put it in gear, shift back to park, wait a few seconds, and then shut the car off again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I get a “shift to park” message after I have turned my car off even though it is in park. The warning does not shut off so I have to remain in my car and turn the car on/off and switch it into gear and out of gear in an attempt to get the warning to stop. At times, I have had to leave the parking spot and drive around more then park again to get the warning to stop. My car is three years old. This should NOT be happening on a three year old car. My car not recognizing what gear it’s in certainly isn’t safe. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that upon placing the vehicle into PARK, the shift to park warning message would appear on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the contact had to readjust the gear shifter or restart the vehicle to correct the failure; however, those options do not correct the failure every time. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 50,000 |
