| Jul 2022 | ENGINE | Driving through Arizona desert and California desert, air conditioning went out. On Monday, contacted Mission Bay Chevrolet to get AC repaired. Dealership and service rep were excellent but this AC should not have failed at 39,151 miles. Diagnosis showed that Compressor clutch pulley melted freezing the compressor. I can only thank God that I had an extended warranty. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2022 | POWER TRAIN | The vehicle does not recognize P even thought it says it is shifted into park. Have to start , stop and move lever several times. Dealer recognized and says they have seen several of these issues , but since the car is out of warranty they won’t fix. I don’t know if the car is actually in P or not and I’m scared. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2022 | POWER TRAIN | When car is shifted into park, there is an error saying that the vehicle is not in Park and the lights and warning chime turns on. It happens 90% of the time. I can move the shifter back and forth and some times it will stop and work properly. I can also try to move the shifter while in park without moving into another gear and that might work but it may take 5 -10 tries. Do a google search and you'll find lots of threads on bad Gen 2 shifters for this year and Make/Model. No warnings prior to malfunctioning. Shift to Park Issue with warning light and message error - shift to park. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2022 | POWER TRAIN | About one month ago, I began receiving a "Shift to Park" message in error when powering off my car and in park. There is no way to override the message, during which the car remains on and there is a loud beeping noise. I have to power the car back on and manipulate the sensors to make the "Shift to Park" message go away - and this doesn't always work or takes several times. In addition to the obvious concern, I'm also concerned about my car's battery every time this happens. I have young children and am afraid to drive my car right now because of this issue. We bought out our lease in May and our Warranty expired about three months ago and Chevy is refusing to fix the defected part. Chevy is aware of this problem in older and other 2019 vehicles, they have yet to recall the 2019 Traverse. I took my car to a local mechanic to replace the faulty wire, with the same wire which will likely cause the same issue in a matter of time. Consumers should not be responsible for unethical practices. Please hold Chevy accountable for their poor choices! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2022 | POWER TRAIN | The vehicle gives a message of "Shift to park" but the vehicle is in park. This is a safety issue and could cause harm to somebody if the vehicle does not think it's in park and start's rolling. It also doesn't let the vehicle shut completely off because it thinks its still in drive! There are alot of forums and complaints on this issue. Local dealership states yes we have heard of this issue BUT "It's not on a recall list yet and also not covered under warranty" This should be a recall and fixed by Chevrolet without charging customers $400-$1,000 to fix a BIG issue with numerous vehicles. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS KNOWN ISSUE | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | POWER TRAIN | We constantly got the message to "Shift to Park" even though the indicator showed we were already in Park! We had to shift to Drive and back into Park several times before our car recognized that we were already in Park. We could not turn the car off until the system finally realized that we were in Park. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | POWER TRAIN | When I shift to park and turn off my Chevy Traverse the warning light comes on to shift to park except my Chevy Traverse is in park. This happened last night and it doesn't happen every time I turn my Chevy off. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | STEERING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Transmission shifting erratic. Rpm is high and shifting is delayed. Delay in acceleration when car is in movement. Parking gear sensor is not working. Shows on dash to put car in park. When car is already in park. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | On June 12, 2022, after stopping for gas, my car did not want to start back up. I put my foot on the brake and pushed the start/stop button, but the engine struggled to come on. It did a similar thing a week before, but on that time when I pushed the button to start the car, all of my lights came on and my radio, but my air conditioner delayed in coming on. When I put the car in drive to go, nothing happened and I realized the engine never started. I pushed the start/stop button again and everything shut off and then back on and I was able to drive. For almost a year now, I have had issues with the auto stop feature when I'm at a stop light/sign. When I try to take off again, it delays on letting me move. This is also when my car will jerk or jolt as I start to drive. I took it to the dealership to look at the problem and was told there may be something with the fuel system. All they did was flush the system, but the problem didn't stop. I am seeing reports online of similar things happening to other 2019 Traverse owners. This concerns me because what happens when my car decides not to start again and I'm in a busy area? What happens when my family is with me and it doesn't want to go or it shuts off at a stop sign or light and we're in crash? I am making an appointment with another dealership, but with how many other drivers seem to be having problems, this seems to be a manufacturer issue and needs to be taken care of by them. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | POWER TRAIN | The gear shift won't register as being placed into park. It often requires multiple on/off cycles of the vehicle along with repeated shifting into drive/park. Preliminary research showed it as a unique problem to this setup. I believe the safety risk is present by the inability to confirm successful changing of gears. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | POWER TRAIN | I get ‘Shift to Park’ message and constant dinging when car is placed in park and turn off ignition. After doing some research, this seems to be a common issue with various 2016-2020 Chevrolet vehicles. I am hopeful that this will be covered under my vehicle warranty from the dealer, but we should not have to hassle with that if GM is well aware of the issue in many vehicles. A recall should be issued and GM should cover to replace and repair back to proper working order. When many people spend a year's salary or more on a brand new vehicle and it doesn't even last them two years, that is not right. I only have 24,000 miles on my vehicle and this should not be an issue I am having to deal with right now. GM needs to step up and take care of this issue immediately. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | My complaint is in regard to the climate control system on my 2019 Chevy Traverse. I chatted with Will of the Chevrolet Customer Service Center on October 10, 2021. The problem is that the system will not keep the windshield clear of fog in certain weather conditions. During the chat, Will said that he couldn't do anything unless I had taken the car to the dealer. I believed it is a design flaw, because my son owns the same model and year of Traverse and has the same complaint. (I have previously owned 2009 and 2012 Traverses and did not experience this problem.) The next time I took the car to my dealer for service 12/14/2021, I told the service dept about the problem. According to the service request: "All functions working as designed at this time." The service manager told me that this is a common complaint. He suggested using the "Max Defrost" button (which bombs the driver with air), turning on the AC to take the humidity out of the air, and turning up the temperature. We have had this fogging happen at many times. but is not something that can be replicated, because it is dependent on the weather. The time I complained in October 2021 was particularly scary, because I was bringing my husband home from surgery late at night from Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. The hospital is about 2 hours from our home and is not a trip we make on a regular basis. It happened on Friday, May 6, 2022 again, when my husband was going to Monroeville, PA for a check-up with the vascular surgeon. It was one of those "all day rains" and the temperature was in the 52-58 degree range. I think we both had a stiff neck the next day after having the Max Defrost blasting all the way to Pittsburgh and back. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2022 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, after releasing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle downshifted with a loud thud. The contact stated that the loud thud also occurred while shifting into reverse(R). Additionally, the contact stated that while driving through a puddle of water, the all-wheel drive feature engaged, and the transmission vibrated and made a loud grinding noise. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer where it was diagnosed; however, the mechanic found no fault with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 78,000 |
| May 2022 | POWER TRAIN | The electronic cord in the shifter showing the "shift to park" message code caused my car battery to die and be unable to shut my car off and on for MONTHS. This electronic problem was nothing related to anything I did but the vehicle itself causing me to finally take it in because it was not safe for me and my kids to go far in case the battery would die. It costed me almost $500 and 6 HOURS of wasted time at the dealership. I would HIGHLY recommend and appreciate a recall reimbursement on this issues- I am not the first to have this happen. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Shift to park error on, car is in park however the car is not registering it is in park and won’t let me shut off car… tried several times of putting it in gear and back into park as well as driving it around a few separate times before it would finally register. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Shift to park error And the car can’t turn off | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2022 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When shifting into park after coming to a stop in a parking space the “SHIFT INTO PARK” warning appeared on the dash. It took driving back and forth between reverse and drive to finally get the car to go into park without the warning indicator. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2022 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When shifting into Park the “Shift to Park” message comes on even though the vehicle is in Park. This problem started about 6 months ago and now happens almost every time we drive it. It is a safety issue because we don’t want to get stranded or not be able to lock the vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | The Sway bar/Control Arm broke up near the engine without cause. It appears metal fatigue or manufacture defect caused same. It's failure led to CV Joint and other damage. This was discovered during a changing of tires. I don't know how long it had been broken as no obvious signs were readily apparent and my wife said it drove normal. There was no accident or other impact that would have caused same. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Upon shifting vehicle into park and shutting off vehicle, "SHIFT TO PARK" is displayed on the vehicle information center. Recent purchase of vehicle, owned by me less then 2 weeks and this has occurred multiple times already. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | POWER TRAIN | After shifting to Park and turning the vehicle off a message of "Shift to Park" appears on the information screen behind the steering wheel despite the car already being in park. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | First Issue: 09/28/2019- Robert Chevrolet/Hicksville- Car got shut off on middle of old country road- Car needs to be towed to Nearest Chevy dealer and Generator and battery was replaced-Generator caused battery to fail- There was no rental car given since I was told that service center didn’t belong to me- If I had brought to dealership in Douglaston then I would be able to get a loaner car. Same issue Second time: 2/10/2022 Car got shut off in middle of Northern Blvd. right near service center- My whole car dashboard and signal went blank while taking exist and I was not able to use signals indicator at all- My car got completely shut off in few minutes after shutting off dashboard. I almost got into an accident due to car slowed down and shut off completely in busiest main street. Car drivers behind me started cursing and honking and screaming because I even couldn’t start emergency flashing light. I was able to borrow orange cone from local service guy and put it behind my car since I couldn’t use emergency indicator. I was told $1350 including tax is out of pocket cost (Alternator/Battery)- I was within 3 year leasing period but due to its out of warranty for mileage limit for about over 4000 mileage. GM was involved and took percentage of and I still ended up paying $816. I am asking why within three year my battery and generator will go bad? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
