| Dec 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES | 2019 Chevy Silverado RST turbo. 46K miles. Truck would feel like it skipped a gear a few times for a few months; I chalked it up to needing a new air filter. Had that and the oil changed. Ran normal for about 3 weeks. Check engine light came on and began flashing, service esc and service parking brake lights came on. Truck would vibrate while at an idle. Truck would not get up and go and when it go to 30mph, it would violently shake and stutter. Changed the 4 spark plugs, with number 4 being the worst, then 1, then 2 and 3. Mind you, the truck only has 46K miles. Got them replaced, removed the negative battery terminal to reset the codes and now the heat isn't working. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | POWER TRAIN,STRUCTURE | Leaking rear window, rear differential replacement due to bearing failure | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 74 MPH, the message “No Oil Pressure - Pull Over Immediately" was displayed. The contact immediately pulled over and was unable to restart the vehicle. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed with an oil cooler line failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle had been serviced and repaired by the dealer under warranty. The failure mileage was 42,100. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 42,100 |
| Dec 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | In November of 2021, There was a water leak found inside the truck, on the passenger side rear cab. Chevy repaired in accordance with GM bulletin # 18-na-383. After six month, leak came back. They replaced the rear window, in accordance with GM bulletin # 18-na-383. All work was done under warranty. Now after a month since last repair, the leak is back and worse then it was. Returned to Chevy dealer and they want to replace both parts again. This time not under warranty. Further research of the internet, yielded thousands of people over many years having the same issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | While operating my vehicle at normal capacity the engine lost power and jolted very hard and the vehicle began shaking. I heard knocking noises coming from within the engine. The truck only has 68k highway miles on it with regular maintenance done by the dealer. My 2010 version of this truck lasted longer than this one. Gm is telling me I need a $7800.00 dollar repair that I am on the arm for. There was nothing out of the ordinary that could have caused this. I am aware of others having the same problem. It would not be safe if I was traveling faster. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES | The Truck is having random BRAKE FAILURE to the degree that it will not STOP and the dash lights - up with several warnings ie; ABS , Traction Control , Speed Limited . Took the vehicle in to the local dealer and they looked at it , charged $140.00 to tell us that it needs a $2000.00 Brake Master Cylinder assembly. I am aware that this truck has had multiple BRAKE issues that G.M. was aware of and dealers have thrown many different things at it to try to correct the issue from Software Update [s] , the first one caused more issues , to replacing the Master Cylinder Assembly under warranty because of glitches ! It is not right for G.M. to ask the owner of a vehicle with KNOWN SERIOUS BRAKE ISSUES to pay for the unit to be repaired. This has been going on for the last 13-15 months !!! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When shifting to park and shut truck off a shift to park warning comes on dash and you can shut engine off or lock door if you try the horn starts honking. I took it to dealer they had it for 2 days said it showed no costs nor could they get it to happen so they say. It dose it almost every time you shut it off. They sent me home and the problem is the same. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his son was driving approximately 30 MPH, the "Low Oil Pressure" message was displayed. After stopping the vehicle and adding oil to the engine, it was discovered that the oil immediately leaked out onto the ground. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and diagnosed with a leaking oil cooler line. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 30,000 |
| Nov 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Changed my oil and filter and notice a oil leak from under my radiator area. Investigated and found that the oil cooler lines was leaking from crimp joints. Contacted GM and local dealer and they would not make repairs without charging me for the repair and service, told me that my vehicle was not included in the Customer Satisfaction Program Number N212326940 and that my truck was out of warranty at 36000 miles. Current miles 38700, I believe that this was leaking at or around 35000 miles but was in between oil changes. Didn't find it until I did a oil change. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | STRUCTURE | On November 14, 2022, I noticed Water leaking in Rear Interior of Cab, Water Leak at Rear Sliding Window. It is clear that it had leaked before as there was several noticeable stains. I took the vehicle up to the Chevrolet dealership in Frisco, Tx to show them. They stated it was a known problem. Another Chevrolet Silverado was next to mine that they said was there for the same reason. [XXX], the service technician told me it was going to be in excess of $4000 to repair. I do not have an extended warranty and the vehicle is outside the standard 3-year warranty. This seems absurd since it is a known issue and clearly a defect in the manufacturing process of the vehicle. There was an NHTSA bulletin issued in August 2020 for this same issue. The bulletin number is 18-NA-383. The vehicle should be recalled and the issue fixed by Chevrolet since is is clearly a defect in the manufacturing process. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRIC | A message on the dashboard showed that the wear sensor wasnt working correctly. After driving it and letting it sit parked, when i went to drive it again there was error messages on the screen showing that brake system failure and to service the ESC. You can reproduce the problem because i tried disconnecting the battery and the message doesn’t go away. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | STEERING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Parked in parking on an attempt to crank and leave the power steering would not turn the vehicle and a message appeared stating power steering needs immediate attention and the anti skid light appeared as well as abs message. These messages may not be exact but my concern is if I attempt to drive and the power assist goes out and I cannot control my vehicle. I will say that I went back to where the vehicle was left parked attempt to drive after sitting 1-2 hours and the messages were gone and the power steering had returned. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | This truck has about 35,000 miles on it and the frame is rusted severely. Doesn’t feel safe to drive. Have to because it’s my only vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Oct 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES | Pressed the brake and service ESC/ service Brake Assist/ Check Engine/ ABS/ lights came on. Speed was restricted to 43 mph, speed was restricted to 62 mph. Cruise control was disabled. Brake Pad monitoring system read incorrectly. Took it to dealership for further inspection. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | POWER TRAIN | Lifter went bad with no warning. Caused engine damage and need costly repairs. Truck only has 68,000 miles on it. Has had all service with manufacturers recommended synthetic oil. Truck has been babied and has hardly pulled any trailers at all. Never been off road. Very disappointed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | STEERING | While pulling into a gas station travelling no more than 10 mph the truck turned hard toward a gas pump island and crashed into the island barrier guard. After shutting down the engine and restarting I pulled the truck out of contact with the barrier. The ESC light is now on. It still drives but pulls hard to the right. I have contacted the local dealer that I will be using for repairs and will deliver it to their shop tomorrow. It has not been inspected yet. After the incident the ESC light was illuminated and still is. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | POWER TRAIN | I have had to replace the transmission at 80k miles.the vehicle was shuddering so bad. Slipping gears and shifting very aggressively. The transmission is an 8 speed 8l90. This is unacceptable for gm to get away with this. Please do something I don’t want this to happen again. This same exact problem is happening to so many people! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | the transmission at the time of putting the speed jumps by itself, and the stereo turns off completely by itself | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Backup camera turned blue, not allowing me to view if a child is behind my truck. This is a safety issue because a child could be killed because you cannot see them. I have found out that this is an issue with allot of gm trucks/cars. But gm does not see this as an issue enough to put out a recall! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | SUSPENSION | Loud clunking nosies from front of vehicles, loud grinding/creaking. Truck keeps getting misaligned. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | SUSPENSION | The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the upper control arm and the ball joint detached from the passage side tire. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he lost control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where it was stationed for three weeks. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer and it still had not been diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V718000 (Suspension), however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,867. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 59,867 |
| Sep 2022 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | Lost all power steering and brake pedal did not work properly. Could not steer vehicle at all even using both hands on steering wheel. I shut off the truck, turned it back on and "service power steering" light came on the dashboard. Steering did not work at all so I shut it off. Called dealer to report problem and left a message to call me back.( I did not hear back from the dealer.) After a short period of time, I restarted the truck and the service light was still on, but the steering and brakes were working so I drove it home. I took it to the dealership on Sept 5th to explain what happened. They pulled up 8 codes from the truck and made me an appt for sept 8th. They informed me that there was a wire chafing problem with this particular truck, but upon inspection on the 8th, they said they could not find a bad wire. They told me to drive it until it happens again! Not being able to steer or brake are DEFINITELY SAFETY issues ! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
