Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Jun 2023 SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES Currently own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Texas Edition Z-71. Transmission continues to hard shift / lunge in forward and reverse. The transmission has popped so hard, on multiple occasions that I was convinced that someone had hit me from behind and had to pull over. The downshift is occasionally so hard that it that you jerk forward out of the seat. In October of 2022 the downshift at 15 mph made me lose control of my truck and utility trailer, sliding me into a small tree causing over two thousand dollars in damages. The suspension is also extremely shaky and any rough terrain makes the vehicle uncontrollable even at low speeds. I have almost had 3 additional accidents because of loss of control in rain and snow. The suspension is also noisy when you first drive with a grinding / rubbing sound. Vehicle has been in for service for these issues on more than one occasion and I have been told they cannot find anything wrong. I have had a transmission code in the past that eventually turned off. A quick internet search shows these all to be known issues and Chevrolet refuses to address of repair these major safety issues.

Jun 2023 SERVICE BRAKES Started truck in morning and service brake assist was displayed. Called dealership and was told ok to drive probably just a brake pad sensor. We were on vacation so kept driving, drove around Colorado Springs brakes seemed different but ok. Proceeded to drive up pikes peak just past 10 mile mark instrument cluster light up and chiming. The dash had service engine light, traction control, and brake light on. Instrument said brake system failure 43mph top speed, service esc, service trailer brake system and service brake assist. Was not using brakes as was climbing mountain. Proceeded to pull over and called dealer again. Was informed can’t really do anything as that far away and try disconnecting the battery. Did that and nothing changed. Proceeded to drive down mountain and contact local dealer. Drove truck in limp mode to dealership. The were able to get truck in and diagnosed internally leaking master cylinder. Master cylinder has to be replaced as it has failed. Truck has 63000 miles on it. This is a major safety item and should not of failed with this low of mileage.

Jun 2023 POWER TRAIN *What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request?- drive transmission while driving at a low speed 25mph or less I stopped at a stop sign and preceded to go while accelerating the truck started to go and immediately stopped moving forward with a high rev on the RPMs I checked to see if maybe the truck died but it was still in drive I put my hazard lights on and shut the truck off thinking for some reason it shut off when starting again immediately did a high rev when trying to accelerate with the gas pedal now this happened for about 10min I a high traffic area I proceeded to push the truck out of the way with the help of some kind strangers, I waited about 20min till starting the truck again and regained drive i went back and forth momentarily only to have the same thing happen again. I had to leave my vehicle in my work parking lot and have my wife drive 1 1/2hr away to pick me up. *How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - I had no indication on my dash of any check engine lights luckily I was only going a slow speed and was at a stop sign when the incident happened I obscured a heavily traffic area and I had to push the vehicle to a safe position. *Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - I have yet to get this to a dealer, I currently had towed to my home. *Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - No *Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - No warning lamps This vehicle has 80,000 plus miles is used as a family/every other daily driver I have not hauled anything but a vintage trailer that's well within its towing capability I have no warning lamps to even indicate a problem is occurring at this time.

May 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Truck does not recognize shifter position of park, will not turn off properly. No wat to tell if transmission is safely in park. Does this about 50 percent of the time. This has to be a safety issue. A dealer in Arizona says that on model of the Chevy Silverado it is a regular issue. I would think this should be a safety recall item.

Monday May 15th, 2023 while driving a warning STATING OIL PRESSURE LOW TURN OFF VEHICLE message flashes . Truck was towed bk to Chevy dealership. Dealership states there is a recall on engine oil cooler line but my VIN was not included. Chevy dearlership says this happens all the time lately with the same make and model. Picture shows zero damage to the crisp or oil line. It will just spontanously break off while driving.

May 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES Trailer brake service indication comes on constantly and cannot see speed use the radio or make a call. Already have changed the switch that they say is the problem, did not fix issues. Other mechanics on the internet are saying it's a wire harness between the switch and the module this needs to be replaced due to poor quality. We'll have a professional mechanic assess this but it looks like it's a common problem across the board. Please get GM to issue a recall on this because it becomes a safety issue, distraction and not able to read speed. Thanks

May 2023 SUSPENSION On my 2019-Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the ball joint in the front upper control arm broke and caused the wheel to separate from the truck while driving. The truck is available for inspection where I had to have it towed to the dealership repair center. Fortunately, no other vehicles were on the same road as me when it happened, and I was on a local road not going very fast, but it could have killed me and others. It most definitely put our safety at risk. Because of a faulty control arm causing the ball joint to break, it also broke my CV Axle, Tire Rod End, cut the brake lines and ruined the tire and wheel. Because the brakes did not work, I am fortunate the tire/wheel on the ground helped the truck to stop. The dealership says there is no GM recall so it is not covered and NHTSA Recall 21V718 is not real which I never received a notification about either. We are waiting on insurance and dealership to complete the full inspectection with an estimate and they too agree I am lucky to be alive. There were no warning lamps or messages. This must be addressed with GM immediately before more people die from this faulty control arm.

May 2023 SUSPENSION The front driver side upper ball joint broke. I was going down the highway at 70 miles an hour, pulling a trailer when it broke, I was lucky to keep it on the road. It ruined the rim, tire, brake lines and CV boot. Just fortunate there wasn’t a car next to me or we would’ve hit it and nobody died, especially with my young son in the car. Also when I got it towed the tow truck driver said he picked about the same year truck up three weeks prior for the same issue a broken ball joint on the driver side. In my opinion they should not be an issue with a newer truck with only 42,000 miles on it. This is a huge safety concern and has done a lot of damage to the truck and cost me a lot of money especially being six hours away from home when it happened.

May 2023 ENGINE The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while the vehicle was in for maintenance at the local dealer, the contact was informed of a potential oil leak in the oil cooler lines. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to another local dealer: Lighthouse Buick GMC (100 W Jackson St, Morton, IL 61550: (309) 938-4190) where the vehicle was diagnosed with needing the oil cooler lines and unknown hoses to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with Customer Satisfaction Program: N2121326940; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,800.

Apr 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The rear windows leak because of a faulty window seal. This is a widespread issue that some people don’t even notice until truck is out of warranty and dealers want $700-$1000 to fix. The issues causes water to enter the cab, mine had water going into seatbelt areas that could damage mechanisms inside and cause seatbelts to not operate properly in a crash. As well as cause mold and other issues inside the cab. The company knows of the issue and has made a bulletin for how to fix. This needs to be a recall as it is affecting most trucks. Customers should not have to pay for this fix. This is a factory defect in materials used. Whatever they used to seal the window, cracks and alloys water in. I don’t know how long this has been leaking but probably well before warranty ran out I just now noticed it because truck usually stayed dry. Only noticed because the headliner was wet and water was dripping from seatbelt area. I only have 26000 miles on a 2019
