Nov 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES I have received 2 service messages on the vehicle. The first says, "Service Electronic Braking System" and the second says, "Service Trailer Brake". Apparently, this is an ongoing and known issue to FCA with 2014-2018 trucks and they have refused to issue a recall. This issue is occurring in many trucks with very low miles. My truck has 28,000 miles and is only 4 days out of warranty, yet now I as the consumer am expected to pay for replacement of ABS components that are breaking extremely prematurely. This should be a recall, due to the long term and widespread nature of the known issue.

Nov 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER The glue that holds the screen on the uconnect screen is melting causing unwanted buttons to be pushed. I will be driving and the radio will start changing channels causing a distraction. Also when driving in cold weather I can’t use the heater or defroster because it automatically turns on the air conditioner.

Nov 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER My Uconnect 8.4 screen is becoming to delaminated on my 2018 ram 1500 limited, the system is beginning to fail i.e. random calling, GPS issues and possible other integrated safety features. Driving in the National Capital Region in Maryland is dangerous and relay heavy on the display display. The problem has been reported however it is not covered. there are numerous posts and complaints regarding similar occurrences and it has not been issued as a recall. this shouldn't happen on new vehicle and needs to be corrected before some is injured.

Nov 2021 UNKNOWN OR OTHER I am having problems with the 8.4 uconnect radio. 1 week after I purchased the truck (used) I noticed that the screen was cracked on the radio. Since then, the radio has gone haywire. It has tried making SOS calls (service is disconnected), randomly called people from my phone book. The radio will randomly switch radio stations or bands, and will turn itself on and off while driving. It will turn the a/c on and off or will make the fans go from low to full blast. When backing up the backup camera will randomly go back. I can't pull the fuse because the touch screen controls everything.

Nov 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Like many other complaints I have read on this site and across multiple Dodge / Ram forums, the center console information screen that controls most of the functions in the vehicle is malfunctioning. In my case, the screen randomly has a pop up that asks if you want to adjust clock settings and it continues to flicker and make beeping noises. From what I have read in other forums where others had a replacement under the manufacturer's warranty, the screen is delaminating and causing this problem. I purchased an extended bumper to bumper warranty and it is currently at the dealer where I purchased it from. They have not diagnosed or committed to fixing it yet but since this seems to be a wide spread issue, I wanted to file a complaint here so it is on re

Oct 2021 UNKNOWN OR OTHER My 2018 (30,134.mi) Ram pickup truck design is defective. Specifically, the defective fuel tank filler neck (the “Filler Neck Defect”) cause standard gas-station nozzles—which work perfectly well with other vehicles—to become lodged in the opening to my Ram fuel tanks. I have to physically wrench the gas nozzle free. A side effect of the filler neck’s design is that it triggers the gas pumps’ automatic shutoff when the tank isn’t full yet. The pump shuts off every few seconds, forcing me to fill the trucks’ tanks “mere ounces at a time.” https://www.classaction.org/blog/class-action-says-defect-to-blame-for-dodge-ram-refueling-issues#comments

Oct 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER U Connect 8.4 screen is delaminating causing distracting information to appear on screen. Keeps asking if I want to adjust the clock. If you touch yes, no, or X it will reappear seconds later with an annoying beep and continue over and over. This is a known problem among many Dodge and Chrysler vehicles which they refuse to address if out of their basic warranty. My vehicle only has 21,289 mi. at this time.

Oct 2021 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Due to manufacturing defect the screens on the navigation unit have begun delaminatig from the actual system. This results in the inability to view map and other controls safely. As result hands free communications and map viewing are not possible. The screens should be repaired to their OEM state before somebody gets killed trying to fumble their phone since the OEM equipment is defective.

Oct 2021 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM When fueling the truck will not allow more than a few cents worth of gas to go in. You immediately hear the sound as if it is full and pumping stops. This is a known problem that Ram Truck company ignores. It has been documented since 2015. The danger is since you can't tell the difference between the constant shut off Nd when a truck is full and you keep trying to put gas in the truck then gas sprays out of the filler neck. It has covered my hand in fuel as well as my clothing and poured onto the ground. There are no warning lights saying there is an issue. I have contacted the dealer and their response in email was "there is no open recall". There are also numerous complaints on the Ram Truck forum and a class action is being started.

Oct 2021 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The In-Car Entertainment System is responsible for controlling multiple sources of entertainment, climate control, heads-up navigation, hands-free phone use, and others. The unit is the Uconnect 4C by Harman. This system has a problem with the touchscreen delaminating, or coming loose, from the display. When this happens, the touchscreen will send multiple and variable "touches" without user involvement. While driving my vehicle on 10/5/2021, this fault caused my navigation system to change to an unreadable state, which resulted in a serious distraction while driving. The distraction lead to my approaching near to another vehicle on the road and resulting in a subsequent swerve to avoid a collision. This problem is a SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE due to the distracting nature of the display in this condition. The issue is a known issue by both Uconnect company and the Chrysler company. I have reported the safety issue and they are unwilling to address it. The first picture provided shows the delamination of the touchscreen from the display. The effect can be seen by a semi-circular line about halfway down the display. The second picture provided shows a non-commanded screen press at the top center of the screen (note the circle indicating the recognition of a push). This was observed to happen 14 times in 16 seconds. I have videos (not provided) of the what happens during navigation. It is extremely distracting during navigation and makes driving in a high-traffic situation almost impossible. There is not a way to turn off the display, which in turn forces the distraction continuously and without a way for driver intervention. This problem is known throughout the industry, which I learned by contacting my local Dodge dealer and the Uconnect company. Many reports exist on the internet, also. NOTE: This is not a wear out item and there is nothing in the manual about routine safety maintenance on the touchscreen or the unit. i.e. not user serviceable.

Oct 2021 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while having the oil changed at a local mechanic, the contact was informed of a leak coming from the oil cooler filter housing. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be inspected. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Sep 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Component that has failed is the Uconnect system. It control GPS, phone, radio, temperature settings, doors, etc. My safety has been put at risk for various reasons; the phone inexplicably will start dialing different people over and over without my prompting and I have to do my best to cancel each if they calls while driving. When I pulled over on the Hwy to avoid more distractions, It took several attempts to move to another mode to get it to stop. After exiting the vehicle to regain my composure, the vehicle locked me out while running leaving me stranded on the side of the Hwy until a locksmith was summoned for me by a concerned motorist. Also while driving, the heat would inadvertently switch to highest heat possible and seat warmers would kick on even though the temp had been set previously at 70 degrees. Mind you, outside temperature was 100 degrees. Problem had been reproduced and had been acknowledged by the dealer and Chrysler. Dealer and online blogs both stated it’s a known problem with many vehicles with this Uconnect device. Problem original started with radio stations switching on their own and has recently progressed to all systems controlled by this devise radically changing while in motion.

Sep 2021 ENGINE The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, an abnormal ticking noise was heard. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed that the manifold had warped and damaged the manifold bolts. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 61,174.

Sep 2021 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL I was traveling down a rural road with a 45 MPH speed limit, During acceleration the throttle on my truck stayed open, it accelerated to approximately 60 MPH and would not stop accelerating until I forcibly pressed the brake pedal. The truck was still accelerating even when I pressed the brake pedal. A couple seconds passed and then it finally depressed the accelerator pedal and I was able to slow down. The Throttle error light came on for around 20 seconds and then shut back off and the vehicle returned to normal. I am taking it to a dealership for review and hopeful fix of the issue.

Sep 2021 SEAT BELTS The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the front passenger’s side seat belt failed to latch as needed. The contact stated that the seat belt would latch after several attempts were made. The vehicle was not diagnosed. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

Sep 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 8.4 inch Uconnect display has intermittent "ghost" pressing buttons. This causes the radio station to change, settings to change, back up camera to activate for minutes at a time, and now phone calls are being terminated. I am in Illinois and we have a "hands free" law for cellular phone use. The phone calls being randomly terminated could interrupt emergency communications. This random termination of phone calls is a huge distraction because you look at the radio display to see what is going on and then try to interact with the display to fix it. The root cause of this is the bubbling or delamination of the 8.4 inch Uconnect display. This delamination has been a known issue since 2013. My delamination issues are getting worse. I continue to report these issues to Uconnect, but they tell me there is nothing they can do.

Sep 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Navigation system started jumping around different screens while traveling in an unknown area. It almost caused an accident several times from being startled from not knowing where I was going and from losing visibility of the upcoming Road. I have video of this happening.

Sep 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Uconnect 8.4 inch display is bubbling or delaminating. This morning I was driving thru city traffic, about 5 miles total. The "ghost" was pushing buttons on the display changing radio stations, settings etc. Suddenly the BACK UP CAMERA CAME ON. Then it would turn off. I started timing the on time, and it lasted from 2 minutes to 4 minutes. This would randomly happen. VERY distracting and could lead to an accident. I consulted the google and learned there was a recall for something similar of the back up camera staying on too long when shifting out of reverse. NHTSA #20V191000. What has happened to me is far worse than that recall.

Sep 2021 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The backup camera in this truck has intermittently blacked out for over a year. The have changed several parts and the system still has problems and doesn’t work right. While reversing, the camera will black out or the picture will become distorted.

Sep 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The 8.4 inch Uconnect display acts like a ghost is pressing buttons. The radio will randomly change stations. Other modes - settings, navigation, etc will randomly be selected. When this happens cannot change any climate controls. Back up camera randomly gets activated. This is a SAFETY issue as it causes a distraction when driving. The display randomly changing is also a distraction. Researching the internet, this is not a new issue and is known. The display is "bubbling" or delaminating causing the ghosting of pressed buttons. I am out of the warranty by 6 months and am told this is not covered. I have called Uconnect (case #80418507) and they stated they cannot do anything until a dealer determines the actual problem, which I will have to pay for. I should NOT have to pay for this. This bubbling or delamination issue is well known and should be covered under a recall or warranty. This started last fall but I thought it was caused by a dirty screen. This has gradually gotten worse and happens more often.
