| Dec 2021 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | Cruise control on 65mph going down hill. Transmission dropped into a lower gear. Vehicle immediately slowed down immediately by probably 20-30 mph. Everything in vehicle was thrown forward. I struggled to keep control and thought I was going to roll and crash off of roadway, or hit another vehicle. This was not a problem for two years, until June of this year. Driven the same stretch of highway a dozen times without incident. 21,000 on vehicle now. I took the RAM tech for a ride to reproduce the incident. Did it on a small hill at 25-30mph and reproduced the problem several times at the same location of the hill. Transmission drops into lower gear, makes a kind of grinding or similar noise. Then it stays in this lower gear straining until the brake is pushed to turn cruise off. Told him of losing control on big hill and nearly crashing. No warning lights or warning of any kind. Their response that a slight speed change is BS. 65mph to 30 or what it was in a couple seconds is not slight. It also states temporary. Even with the tech seeing it, it is not temporary. You have to push the brake to get it back into the right gear. At 30mph on test runs. Losing control of vehicle and they come up with this. You can inspect my vehicle. No sales rep ever mentioned that you shouldn't use cruise control on a hill. What a scam. Not happy with my RAM purchase now. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | When filling up with gas, it will not fill up without the causing the nozzle's safety switch to continually auto shut off(clicking off). Meaning I have to barely squeeze the nozzle so fuel barely flows into the gas cap slot taking 20-30 minutes to fill up because I can not set the lock on the gas pump nozzle to automatic flow. This is happening at all Gas stations so it is not an issue with the shape of a specific stations pump nozzle. The colder the weather the worse this is. Took in to dealer for a maintenance to see if it was just the float, but the stated to me without them further looking into the problem and having to charge me, it appears it could mean a full fuel tank replacement. My truck is only a 2018 and only has 56,000 miles on it so to me this shouldn't be happening. This started last November 2019. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Dec 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | - What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The entire touch screen feature has failed in the vehicle. This has affected the navigation, radio, back-up camera, climate, etc. control in the vehicle. The system also unpredictably crashes completely, mid transit. It is available for inspection upon request. Also, the switches governing the operation of the front row windows has sporadically failed at times (unrelated to the center console, but a clear electrical issue). - How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The entire system affecting the items listed above crashes mid transit. If I were backing up, my visibility would be lost completely. If there was an emergency vehicle, I may not hear instructions from that vehicle as I would not be able to turn down the volume to my radio. If I were using the navigational features of the car, when it crashes, it may cause injury to myself, my passengers or others. When window functionality is lost, elements are able to enter the cab which may affect driver performance. - Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? | Dec 2021 | LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES | The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after stopping the vehicle, it was discovered that the rear powered tailgate door had erroneously unlatched and came open. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the tailgate actuator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously serviced in July 2021 under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V347000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) to prevent the failure however, the failure still occurred. The failure mileage was unknown. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The radio u- connect system is constantly malfunctioning, you cannot turn off screen, or sound. I glitches almost continually which has caused the screen to get super hot to the touch, which has caused screen separation because of the heat. The glitching is so distracting to the driver, that it is very dangerous to drive. I took to our local dealer who stated it was very common for this year. At the time of this visit my mileage had reached 36,700, which they state is 700 miles out of warranty. Also I had to disconnect my phone from the system because it would not let my call my family during an emergency. I literally had to turn off my truck and walk away from my vehicle to be able to call them. I travel alone often, and I’m unable to use my phone while in the truck. It will put my family on hold, and will fight me to keep it off hold. It also randomly calls, anyone in my phone book, them switches. There have been multiple times then the screen doesn’t allow me to change anything. I have went on the computer and there are plenty of similar experiences by others, shown in video. Their screen are also separated. I’m afraid my car will catch on fire. This is a very serious situation and I’m trying to find a resolution. My husband refuses to drive it long distances do to the distraction it presents. I do have videos documenting the distraction, and have included a picture that shows how the heat has causes the screen to separate, and the screen conflict. Ram is aware that this is an issue, and the danger that this presents. They need to address this immediately, this is very dangerous. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact received a notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V757000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The dealer had been notified about the recall; however, the contact was informed that the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer had been notified of the issue. | Nov 2021 | TIRES | All 4 tires have cracks at or near the bead and getting worse. 22655 miles on the tires that were factory installed at truck purchase. P27560R20. Rotated every 8000 miles and pressure is checked weekly to maintain inflation. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | STEERING | The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, the power steering light suddenly illuminated and the message "Service Power Steering" was displayed. The contact was unable to turn the steering wheel in either direction. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer for service. No further information was available. The manufacturer was not yet notified. The failure mileage was 45,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 45,000 |
| Nov 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | I have received 2 service messages on the vehicle. The first says, "Service Electronic Braking System" and the second says, "Service Trailer Brake". Apparently, this is an ongoing and known issue to FCA with 2014-2018 trucks and they have refused to issue a recall. This issue is occurring in many trucks with very low miles. My truck has 28,000 miles and is only 4 days out of warranty, yet now I as the consumer am expected to pay for replacement of ABS components that are breaking extremely prematurely. This should be a recall, due to the long term and widespread nature of the known issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER | The glue that holds the screen on the uconnect screen is melting causing unwanted buttons to be pushed. I will be driving and the radio will start changing channels causing a distraction. Also when driving in cold weather I can’t use the heater or defroster because it automatically turns on the air conditioner. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | ENGINE | Vehicle is overheating, recall on this vehicle cannot be fixed in a timely manner due to no parts available. Also issue with low pressure light coming on due to no actual sensor just a switch. This issue has caused we to stall at 65+ mph while driving on the freeway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My Uconnect 8.4 screen is becoming to delaminated on my 2018 ram 1500 limited, the system is beginning to fail i.e. random calling, GPS issues and possible other integrated safety features. Driving in the National Capital Region in Maryland is dangerous and relay heavy on the display display. The problem has been reported however it is not covered. there are numerous posts and complaints regarding similar occurrences and it has not been issued as a recall. this shouldn't happen on new vehicle and needs to be corrected before some is injured. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I am having problems with the 8.4 uconnect radio. 1 week after I purchased the truck (used) I noticed that the screen was cracked on the radio. Since then, the radio has gone haywire. It has tried making SOS calls (service is disconnected), randomly called people from my phone book. The radio will randomly switch radio stations or bands, and will turn itself on and off while driving. It will turn the a/c on and off or will make the fans go from low to full blast. When backing up the backup camera will randomly go back. I can't pull the fuse because the touch screen controls everything. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | STEERING | Went to turn at a gas station and steering wouldn’t work steering faulty light came on and said to have power steering looked at | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Like many other complaints I have read on this site and across multiple Dodge / Ram forums, the center console information screen that controls most of the functions in the vehicle is malfunctioning. In my case, the screen randomly has a pop up that asks if you want to adjust clock settings and it continues to flicker and make beeping noises. From what I have read in other forums where others had a replacement under the manufacturer's warranty, the screen is delaminating and causing this problem. I purchased an extended bumper to bumper warranty and it is currently at the dealer where I purchased it from. They have not diagnosed or committed to fixing it yet but since this seems to be a wide spread issue, I wanted to file a complaint here so it is on re | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My 2018 (30,134.mi) Ram pickup truck design is defective. Specifically, the defective fuel tank filler neck (the “Filler Neck Defect”) cause standard gas-station nozzles—which work perfectly well with other vehicles—to become lodged in the opening to my Ram fuel tanks. I have to physically wrench the gas nozzle free. A side effect of the filler neck’s design is that it triggers the gas pumps’ automatic shutoff when the tank isn’t full yet. The pump shuts off every few seconds, forcing me to fill the trucks’ tanks “mere ounces at a time.” https://www.classaction.org/blog/class-action-says-defect-to-blame-for-dodge-ram-refueling-issues#comments | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | U Connect 8.4 screen is delaminating causing distracting information to appear on screen. Keeps asking if I want to adjust the clock. If you touch yes, no, or X it will reappear seconds later with an annoying beep and continue over and over. This is a known problem among many Dodge and Chrysler vehicles which they refuse to address if out of their basic warranty. My vehicle only has 21,289 mi. at this time. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Due to manufacturing defect the screens on the navigation unit have begun delaminatig from the actual system. This results in the inability to view map and other controls safely. As result hands free communications and map viewing are not possible. The screens should be repaired to their OEM state before somebody gets killed trying to fumble their phone since the OEM equipment is defective. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | When fueling the truck will not allow more than a few cents worth of gas to go in. You immediately hear the sound as if it is full and pumping stops. This is a known problem that Ram Truck company ignores. It has been documented since 2015. The danger is since you can't tell the difference between the constant shut off Nd when a truck is full and you keep trying to put gas in the truck then gas sprays out of the filler neck. It has covered my hand in fuel as well as my clothing and poured onto the ground. There are no warning lights saying there is an issue. I have contacted the dealer and their response in email was "there is no open recall". There are also numerous complaints on the Ram Truck forum and a class action is being started. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The In-Car Entertainment System is responsible for controlling multiple sources of entertainment, climate control, heads-up navigation, hands-free phone use, and others. The unit is the Uconnect 4C by Harman. This system has a problem with the touchscreen delaminating, or coming loose, from the display. When this happens, the touchscreen will send multiple and variable "touches" without user involvement. While driving my vehicle on 10/5/2021, this fault caused my navigation system to change to an unreadable state, which resulted in a serious distraction while driving. The distraction lead to my approaching near to another vehicle on the road and resulting in a subsequent swerve to avoid a collision. This problem is a SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE due to the distracting nature of the display in this condition. The issue is a known issue by both Uconnect company and the Chrysler company. I have reported the safety issue and they are unwilling to address it. The first picture provided shows the delamination of the touchscreen from the display. The effect can be seen by a semi-circular line about halfway down the display. The second picture provided shows a non-commanded screen press at the top center of the screen (note the circle indicating the recognition of a push). This was observed to happen 14 times in 16 seconds. I have videos (not provided) of the what happens during navigation. It is extremely distracting during navigation and makes driving in a high-traffic situation almost impossible. There is not a way to turn off the display, which in turn forces the distraction continuously and without a way for driver intervention. This problem is known throughout the industry, which I learned by contacting my local Dodge dealer and the Uconnect company. Many reports exist on the internet, also. NOTE: This is not a wear out item and there is nothing in the manual about routine safety maintenance on the touchscreen or the unit. i.e. not user serviceable. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while having the oil changed at a local mechanic, the contact was informed of a leak coming from the oil cooler filter housing. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be inspected. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 90,000 |
