| Apr 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Please help this is an ongoing safety issue that causes my phantom touching on my stereo screen. The screen is not just radio but air, cameras and many other electrical settings. The heat will come on going down the highway when there is no air turned on. The backup camera will pop up on the screen causing a pretty uncomfortable feeling when going down the road at 70mph. Along with apps opening up, random phone calls through the Uconnect system causing me to try and switch the system off. This is a problem that is visible all across the internet while dealers and others are taking advantage charging money for the fix. Last June I started noticing a bubble in the left portion of my screen. I took the truck into the dealership I bought it from and my warranty had gone out so they would not help. Ive tried contact dodge and they keep running me around passing me to different departments. The issue is now to where I can’t do anything with the radio and it constantly phantom pushing of buttons. I have researched the issue and this is common problem all across Chrysler and dodge vehicles around 2018. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SEATS | The radio which is a 8.4 uconnect screen had started to delaminate cause the screen to randomly select items and constantly switch back and forth from one screen media to hvac controls and apps, it automatically turn my heated and cooled seats on and off and again and had even turned my auto dimmer for my rear view mirror off, and when I tried to turn it back on it would select the auto dimmer like I was touching the screen when I was not. This mind you while I was trying to drive at night making a huge distraction. It constantly hits items on the screen which brings up dialog which requires me to look down away from the road. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2022 | POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | I was driving my 2018 RAM at night when it suddenly started to smoke. I had to stop in the middle of the road to find coolant had splattered on part of the engine and was leaking. Upon further inspection this morning I found there is a missing bolt on the radiator and it is cracked and a hose apparently burst. Called the dealership and states this is not covered by the warranty since I’m on my 4th year and the type of part that it is, however, the only people to have ever worked on this vehicle have been the dealership and they have never had to do any repairs on the car, only regular oil changes and a warranty repair to my Uconnect screen that was faulty. There is no reason why this would have happened other thanks faulty parts. Upon investigating further I found that 2018 Rams with Ecodiesel engine(I have a gas engine) have a recall for the same issue and many people are having issues getting repair issues due to parts. I have also found other people with gas engines with similar issues. I’d like to have some resolution with the manufacturer do they may cover their issue, not have to pay out of pocket for this. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | STEERING | Intermittent loss of power steering. Steering fights driver input when turning in either direction, when straightening out from a turn & gradual road curves. Inspected by competent mechanic. EPS rack & pinion failing at 22,300 miles on vehicle. EPS serial # not affected by FCA recall | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact's father owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, an abnormal odor was detected and a loud sound was heard coming from the vehicle. The contact pulled over and inspected under the hood. She noticed that the battery had exploded, with cracks on the casing and battery acid leakage. The check engine, battery, and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that no codes appeared after they replaced the battery. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. Prior to the failure, the vehicle had a jumpstart from Triple A towing company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,800. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 58,800 |
| Mar 2022 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact's husband owned a 2018 Ram 1500. Two years ago, the contact received a notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V757000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the parts for the repair were unavailable. At the time, the dealer had been notified about the recall and confirmed that parts were not yet available. A year later, the dealer called that contact to inform her and that parts slowly coming to their dealer and that she had been placed on a waiting list for the recall repair. Recently, the contact stated that while her husband was driving at 65 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate upon depression of the accelerator pedal; two unknown warning lights also appeared on the instrument panel. As her husband pulled over, a white color smoke began to emit from the engine. Upon lifting up the engine's hood, her husband saw flames coming from under the engine. Her husband immediately called 911 and while on the phone with the dispatcher, the vehicle became engulfed in flames. The fire department arrived ten minutes later and extinguished the fire. The contact was uncertain if a fire report was filed; no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to two independent mechanics where it was later deemed a total loss. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: Yes Towed | 66,000 |
| Mar 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The Touch Screen 8.4 Uconnect Screen is Delaminating and has Phantom Touches with Render the Screen useless and it takes away from the ability to use the screen and the SOS or Assist feature it has incase of any emergencies. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | EQUIPMENT | The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated while in reverse at approximately 2 MPH, the backup camera screen would go blank, or the image would become pixilated. The contact had not noticed any warning lights. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the navigation and information computer screen needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 68,000 |
| Mar 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Uconnect 8.4 graphic panel (radio, navigation, climate control, etc...) is de-laminating causing random systems outcomes and dangerous driver distractions. Online research shows this is caused by some chemical between the outer touch sensitive screen and inner radio screen itself leaking out the bottom of the assembly. I'm concerned about what this chemical is and its toxicity to humans both breathing it or potentially touching it. This is a well know and common deficiency, especially within 2018 models, which the manufacturer will only address if still under warranty (all 2018 Chrysler vehicles are past the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty period.) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | As I'm driving my truck there is a error message that keeps popping on on the vehicle information system. I can shut the information system off and I can't get rid of the error message. this is distracting me while I'm driving. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 MPH, there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The low oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that after turning off the vehicle, the vehicle was unable to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to an independent dealer, where it was diagnosed that the bearing on the crankshaft was loose and causing damage to the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 50,000 |
| Feb 2022 | ENGINE | while driving on the highway with cruise control engaged at 60 mph there was a loud clunk sound and the truck immediately decelerated. The cruise control had disengaged and the truck seemed to go into limp home mode and the check engine light came on. I pulled to the side of the road and shut the engine off. I looked under the truck to see if I had run over something and checked the drive line for damage but found none. Restarting the engine took considerably more crank time than normal. While driving home the truck would not accelerate normally and top speed uphill was 19-23 mph depending on the climb with rpm around 3000 before what felt like fuel cut off and immediate deceleration until rpm was dropped to around 2000. The 5 hour trip home turned into an 8 hour trip. The check engine DTC is P0336 (crank position sensor A circuit range/performance). There is a recall W58 (20V475000) for software update for loss of crankshaft position sensor signal. This update substitutes the camshaft position sensor signal for the lost crankshaft signal. There is a known defect with the tone ring on the 3.0 eco diesel. The magnetic material on the tone ring delaminates. The software update does not fix the loss of crankshaft signal. The engine now has excessive crank time before starting. There is an a noticeable aceleration lag and the truck struggles on uphill grades. The cruise control is now inoperable with the crank signal DTC is permanent until the tone ring is replaced. My repair shop checked for parts avaiability and found dodge has 22,000 in stock which leads me to believe that they not only know about the problem but also know the only true fix is to replace the failed tone ring. The truck is unsafe to drive until the failed tone ring is replaced. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Instrument panel controlling radio, HVAC, back up camera, hands free devices, etc is faulty. It turns on/off by itself, glitches to many operations several times a second. Can not be turned off. Extremely distracting. The panel also gets very hot - worried about fire hazard. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While driving on at 75 mph with the cruise control on I went to reset the MPG and the screen was blank. Started pressing the left/right arrows and the entire cluster restarts (power cycles). I was able to repeat it several more times and capture it on film, link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saQ_5ezRV-0 | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2022 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Purchased truck from Covert Dodge in Taylor, TX 2019. Mid-End 2019 started having issues with the fuel pump would not fuel vehicle without constantly shutting off. This is a very annoying situation and eats up a great deal of time. I have to hold it where it barely runs the fuel in order to get it to fuel for more then 2 seconds. Gas attendant at Costco just thought I did not know how to fuel my truck and he too had the same issue. Dodge needs to own up to the problem and fix it. There are plenty of complaints about the issue. I do not think my next vehicle will be a dodge only because they do not own up to the well known problem. Did receive a letter about the fuel tank strap. I do not think that is the issue | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My complaint is with the infotainment system 8.4 uconnect screen delaminating. This delamination is causing ghost touches on the screen. It causes the A/C and heat to switch on and off. Changes the ride height on my air ride to adjust. Has made random phone calls when connected to my phone, changes radio stations. Almost every system in the truck is controlled from the radio screen and it cam and has changes things while driving cause distractions and possible unsafe actions to occur. To me this product is u safe when the delamination of the screen happens. Please help | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | Cruise control on 65mph going down hill. Transmission dropped into a lower gear. Vehicle immediately slowed down immediately by probably 20-30 mph. Everything in vehicle was thrown forward. I struggled to keep control and thought I was going to roll and crash off of roadway, or hit another vehicle. This was not a problem for two years, until June of this year. Driven the same stretch of highway a dozen times without incident. 21,000 on vehicle now. I took the RAM tech for a ride to reproduce the incident. Did it on a small hill at 25-30mph and reproduced the problem several times at the same location of the hill. Transmission drops into lower gear, makes a kind of grinding or similar noise. Then it stays in this lower gear straining until the brake is pushed to turn cruise off. Told him of losing control on big hill and nearly crashing. No warning lights or warning of any kind. Their response that a slight speed change is BS. 65mph to 30 or what it was in a couple seconds is not slight. It also states temporary. Even with the tech seeing it, it is not temporary. You have to push the brake to get it back into the right gear. At 30mph on test runs. Losing control of vehicle and they come up with this. You can inspect my vehicle. No sales rep ever mentioned that you shouldn't use cruise control on a hill. What a scam. Not happy with my RAM purchase now. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | When filling up with gas, it will not fill up without the causing the nozzle's safety switch to continually auto shut off(clicking off). Meaning I have to barely squeeze the nozzle so fuel barely flows into the gas cap slot taking 20-30 minutes to fill up because I can not set the lock on the gas pump nozzle to automatic flow. This is happening at all Gas stations so it is not an issue with the shape of a specific stations pump nozzle. The colder the weather the worse this is. Took in to dealer for a maintenance to see if it was just the float, but the stated to me without them further looking into the problem and having to charge me, it appears it could mean a full fuel tank replacement. My truck is only a 2018 and only has 56,000 miles on it so to me this shouldn't be happening. This started last November 2019. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Dec 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | - What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The entire touch screen feature has failed in the vehicle. This has affected the navigation, radio, back-up camera, climate, etc. control in the vehicle. The system also unpredictably crashes completely, mid transit. It is available for inspection upon request. Also, the switches governing the operation of the front row windows has sporadically failed at times (unrelated to the center console, but a clear electrical issue). - How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The entire system affecting the items listed above crashes mid transit. If I were backing up, my visibility would be lost completely. If there was an emergency vehicle, I may not hear instructions from that vehicle as I would not be able to turn down the volume to my radio. If I were using the navigational features of the car, when it crashes, it may cause injury to myself, my passengers or others. When window functionality is lost, elements are able to enter the cab which may affect driver performance. - Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? | Dec 2021 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | When for gas at wawa pump got stuck in my truck would not come out sat for 5 hours until we got it out | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,VISIBILITY/WIPER | My trucks display flickers in & out if I'm using GPS it changes flickers to other settings in display on it's own it makes phone call changes directions, changes control settings all by it self even if I turn off display settings it goes on by it self it is happening to many others who own the same year ram trucks this is a serious life threatening endangerment I almost have gotten into 4 accidents myself | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2021 | LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES | The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after stopping the vehicle, it was discovered that the rear powered tailgate door had erroneously unlatched and came open. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the tailgate actuator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously serviced in July 2021 under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V347000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) to prevent the failure however, the failure still occurred. The failure mileage was unknown. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The radio u- connect system is constantly malfunctioning, you cannot turn off screen, or sound. I glitches almost continually which has caused the screen to get super hot to the touch, which has caused screen separation because of the heat. The glitching is so distracting to the driver, that it is very dangerous to drive. I took to our local dealer who stated it was very common for this year. At the time of this visit my mileage had reached 36,700, which they state is 700 miles out of warranty. Also I had to disconnect my phone from the system because it would not let my call my family during an emergency. I literally had to turn off my truck and walk away from my vehicle to be able to call them. I travel alone often, and I’m unable to use my phone while in the truck. It will put my family on hold, and will fight me to keep it off hold. It also randomly calls, anyone in my phone book, them switches. There have been multiple times then the screen doesn’t allow me to change anything. I have went on the computer and there are plenty of similar experiences by others, shown in video. Their screen are also separated. I’m afraid my car will catch on fire. This is a very serious situation and I’m trying to find a resolution. My husband refuses to drive it long distances do to the distraction it presents. I do have videos documenting the distraction, and have included a picture that shows how the heat has causes the screen to separate, and the screen conflict. Ram is aware that this is an issue, and the danger that this presents. They need to address this immediately, this is very dangerous. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
