Nov 2023 POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE Driving on a busy highway, without any advance warning, all dash lights on screen turned on at once and truck completely shut down. We were unable to operate the truck or even put in neutral to move off the road. We had our children in the truck with us and it was a miracle we weren’t in an accident. We shut down the highway for hours waiting for a tow truck. We were charged $930 to tow to the nearest dealership. We paid out of pocket and have not been reimbursed. There have been multiple recalls on this vehicle. There are currently two open recalls one has been open since June 2022 with still no remedy available. I don’t feel safe driving my children in this vehicle. There needs to be a remedy soon before something happens. I don’t want to wait any longer given a close call we’ve already had with our children present.

Nov 2023 ENGINE After only 64000 miles the 2018 Ram 1500 3.6L engine will need major repair with the cam shaft. With no longer a warranty I am stuck paying for the repair. I believe this is a common problem. I have religiously changed oil and kept mileage low.
Incident: Oct 2023
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Nov 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The led screen is delaminating. This has caused fantom touching. The truck will constantly start stop and change settings. This causes the GPS to go haywire, radio to change stations and volume, heating and cooling will go up and down, and it will initiate phone calls and emergency services. These are inconvenient when the truck is at rest, but I nearly got into a wreck due to the GPS screen zooming in and out while the truck called emergency services. This IS a safety issue.

Nov 2023 ENGINE Vehicle has shut off three separate times while driving. Without any warning. First time I was making a left-hand turn when it shut off. Second time I was also turning when it shut off. Third time I was crossing over a train tracks making a left hand turn when it shut off right on the edge of the track. Each time I had to turn the switch to the off position and restart it the third time it took several times before it restarted. The third incident was November 6th.

Nov 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The Uconnect control panel randomly changes settings for the radio, climate, phone. rear view camera and other systems controlled by the Uconnect system. It even attempted to place an SOS call for emergency help. This causes a significant distraction for the driver and systems are randomly and continuously turned on, off and have settings changed. The cause of this malfunction is a delamination/failure of the touch screen controls. This is a defect well known to FCA on many RAM and Dodge vehicles.

Nov 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER I rear ended another car and my truck was totaled. The air bags never deployed and I’ve never had an air bag light come on showing there was an issue. The vehicle was safety checked from the dealer when I bought it but they told me to call Dodge (or whomever owns it). I called them and they said someone would call me in 4 days, well here it is on day 6 and no call.

Oct 2023 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I was driving down a country road with my kids in the car and my vehicle started to stall and then the engine turned off while the vehicle was still moving. Lucky I was not driving on a busy road and was able to get it safely off the roadway onto a dirt shoulder. The lightening bolt symbol on my truck was on as it was stalling. I contacted the dealership and was told there are no fixes for the recalls on my vehicle. They also related there are no loaner vehicles to give me. I do not feel safe driving my truck until these issues are fixed. I refuse to put the safety of my kids and myself at risk.

Oct 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The auto park disabled will come on. Other lights will flash and eventually the truck powers off. It is going to cause someone to be killed. Other ram and jeep owners have experienced the same and dealers can't seem to figure out the problem

Oct 2023 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Manufacturer has failed to provide a remedy for the Z46 recall, the primary "intended" use of the vehicle is for towing, and as such I feel that the vehicle is unsafe for its "intended" use. I have contacted Mopar online, and I have contacted the dealership multiple times. With no resolution, or suggested remedy. I am simply left with a vehicle of questionable reliability which I feel is unreasonable.

Oct 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER This safety issue deals with the touch screen radio. The laminate or glue appears to have oozing on the inside of the touch screen. This oozing has caused the touchscreen to have a mind of its own and begin calling people, turning cameras on, adjust vehicle settings included in the uconnect package. The touchscreen cant be shut off and continues to make changes as your driving. Today the vehicle began calling telephone numbers and hanging up, switching between radio, backup camera, telephone etc etc etc. As i continually attempted to stop the chaos I nearly had a headon collision. This is a well known issue with this touch screen and Im shocked that nothing has been done to force a recall or correction from RAM. This has been an ongoing issue. It use to just change the channel on the radio. Now its turned into a more serious issue where someone can be killed. I would like to turn the unit off but it cant be shut down.

Oct 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER The Uconnect system which controls almost every electrical aspect of my truck is malfunctioning. There seems to be an issue with the screen and it goes into a "ghost method" and the screen will start changing without being touched. This screen controls safety features, cameras, navigation, etc. i have seen several forums where ram owners are complaining about this and this needs to be a Recall!

Oct 2023 STEERING While driving down the road the service power steering and service ABS notifications appeared on the instrument cluster and the power steering stopped working. It felt as though the wheels turn when this happened and the steering wheel wouldn’t move. This caused a loss of control and the vehicle left the road coming to rest in the ditch. This resulted in severe damage to the front suspension, axles, steering linkage, and the bottom of the engine. The vehicle was not drivable and had to be towed.

Oct 2023 STEERING On Sunday, Oct 1, 2023, I proceeded out of my driveway, when the warning lights came on and the steering failed, stranding me on the busy roadway. I was able to back onto my property again and fortunately the incident didn't result in a collision. The truck is at the dealership as I write this and I informed them that I want them to save all of the defective parts for me. The dealership's diagnosis is that the rack and pinion steering has failed at approx. 61,200 miles. The components have not been inspected, but will be available after the repair, as stated above.

Oct 2023 POWER TRAIN I have filed previously regarding this 23v-411; my trucks crank position sensor broke on a highway, almost accident. Tower in to a repair shop. Finally got replacement sensor. Spent 6 weeks trying to download correct data. It runs ok but still not 100%. I submitted the billing to dodge - Chrysler for reimbursement they denied it. Saying repair has not been determined yet. So I’m driving my truck not a rental and out of $1168. What a racquet.

The check engine warning light was illuminated, and a message to shift to park(P) was displayed. The contact pulled to a safe location and parked and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and it was determined that the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) was fractured, causing metal shavings into the fuel system. The dealer determined that the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP), the fuel rails, the fuel line, and the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel); however, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.
