| Jan 2024 | STEERING | Power steering was intermittently working for a period of time. One day while driving the power steering failed entirely. Was able to get the vehicle to a RAM dealership where it was confirmed that the entire electric power steering rack had failed and needs to be replaced. Parts are on back order with no anticipated delivery date. Part order was placed a month ago and still no updates. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL,LANE DEPARTURE | The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the navigation system was dialing numbers independently. The contact stated that the air conditioner and heater were independently activating and deactivating. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who determined there was no indication of delamination to the screen. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 38,472. VIN tool confirms parts not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | 38,472 |
| Jan 2024 | STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The rear window is defective from the manufacturer. My vehicle is taking in water from a faulty design where the window drain does work and pushes water back into the vehicle. I have young kids and there is mold everywhere. The MOPAR agent admitted the window is defective but only some of the VINs were offered a free replacement. Clearly, they didn't identify all vehicles because there are numerous complaints on forums and on NHTSA website. Please do the right thing and issue a recall and give your loyal customers their money back for your faulty design. In addition, there is no ETA on the replacement glass which means that this is a widespread issue and MOPAR can't manufacture enough replacement rear windows. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING,SERVICE BRAKES,BACK OVER PREVENTION | There is a visible defect in the touch screen of the infotainment unit, which seems to be progressing in a top down direction. I suspect that the touch screen is delaminating and the electrical characteristics of the unit are degrading. The unit now "self-selects" and changes radio settings (FM to AM, or station), or screens (navigation, to CarPlay, to comfort settings, to...). Any and all features selectable through the touch screen, are accessible and changeable randomly; navigation screens and destination changes via both CarPlay and the onboard navigation system; windshield wiper/rain detection settings; high-beam auto dim on/off; parking assist; HVAC temperature, vent selection controls and fan speed; windshield and side mirror defroster; trailer setting selection. So far driver distraction has presented the primary risk. I have experienced the unit self-selecting/changing selections at a rate of approximately 5 selections per second, too fast to keep up with while parked or driving. I am concerned that parking assist features could be turned off or warning volumes changed without my knowledge. If towing a trailer, having the trailer braking options changed or having a different trailer selected could be dangerous. Power relays are also being switched rapidly. My issue has not been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, but there are numerous Youtube postings documenting the issue. My vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps or messages. The first symptom was the undesired stopping of podcasts or changing of episodes. The problem became prominent approximately 12/14/2023 and has persisted. On [XXX] while driving on [XXX] in southern California the unit dialed and connected to the 911 operator twice and terminated both calls without my choosing to do so. Similarly outgoing emergency calls could be cancelled without completion. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | 8.4 in touchscreen is delaminating. The screen delamination causes the vehicle to register button pushes that aren't occurring, causing unintentional settings changes or making phone calls. Safety equipment (parking sensors) will intermittently be toggled off. This puts my safety at risk because it is a distraction while driving, essential safety devices can and are turned off randomly. This appears to be a common failure with multiple Dodge/Ram/FCA vehicles that have the 8.4 touchscreen. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | At 36,000 miles the fuel tank no longer would accept fuel. Dealer tried to manipulate fuel nozzle, but still didn't fix issue. I was stranded at gas stations trying to slow feed gas into the tank. I had to dribble in enough gas to make it to the dealer. Ultimate solution was to replace tank (outside of warranty). This was unsafe as I could have been stranded somewhere. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | STEERING | 1. Electronic power steering rack and pinnion and the control module on the rack for power steering. Yes vehicle is available for inspection. 2. While driving 100km (62miles)/hr on a highway lost all steering control and was forced to hit the ditch to avoid a roadway curve and oncoming traffic. Brakes functioned but steering did not. Putting my families lives and others at risk of a vehicle collision. No injuries were sustained. 3. Steering control issues has been confirmed by a dealership and mechanic shop. 4. Unknown if it has been inspected by authorities generically. My vehicle has not been inspected other than by dodge and an independent service provider. 5. After power steering failed, check engine dash light has come on, not allowing command start or other functions to be used. Dash does not have any messages and had to have code read by dealership to find steering control failure. Was advised that dodge rams up to 2017 have had the exact same recall for ower steering failures. 2018s should be investigated for the power steering failures as well. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My truck is equipped with the UConnect 4C/4C Navigation system which is malfunctioning. This is a problem that other car owners are having as well. This system is having "ghost touch" issues. The radio will scroll through the channels, change automatically to satellite radio. This is not a safety concern, however when the heat/defrost goes out, changes over to a/c then this can be a concern, which is what my system will do. It will also black completely out. There are no warning lights, battery in the truck has been replaced, did not fix the problem. A factory reset has been done, did not fix the problem. I contacted UConnect, they advised me to take to the dealer for it to be diagnosed. I called the dealer; they want $175.00 per hour to diagnose. Neither are taking responsibility for this problem, and it is my problem that this product is defective. I will not accept that. This is a safety concern due to the fact that this component controls so many features. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | Cam Shaft (RECALL) sensor failure / tone wheel per the dealership. Truck lost all power descending off a mountain / steep grade. Lost steering, brakes, engine power. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership. Truck will not start, even have installing new parts. It was towed in to the dealer on 12/2/23. I am not able to get a solid answer on what needs to be done. Communication has been very poor on the entire situation. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | I purchased a new 2018 Ram Truck with an ECO Diesel engine. The engine has undergone multiple recall repairs including one for the EGR that could cause a potential fire hazard. The truck has been in service for multiple engine related issues since I purchased the vehicle. It has continuously had a rampant smell of antifreeze inside the cab of the vehicle which has made me feel sick on occasions and I must open the windows even in the winter months. After only 66,000 miles my truck suffered a catastrophic engine failure. Although Stellantis replaced the engine under warranty, the new engine only had a 2-year unlimited mileage warranty. 2 years has passed and the warranty is now no longer active and I am personally responsible for any repairs. My truck with the new engine has just over 60,000 miles and is suffering the same issues as the original engine even though it was just fixed for these issues 4,000 miles ago. It again has the smell of coolant and diesel in the cab. The vehicle is dangerous to drive due to throttle control and temporary engine stalls. I have to rely on my children to drive me around, rent a car or use Uber. I have also complained multiple times to Ram service departments that this vehicle loses power and stalls while normal functioning. They keep telling me this is normal function of the engine. There is now a “Loss of Crankshaft Position” recall which also causes a catastrophic engine failure. The fix issued does not save the engine from this catastrophic failure but only allows the vehicle not to stop abruptly at the time of failure. Basically, I am driving a time bomb waiting for a catastrophic engine failure. I understand this engine is being discontinued and I wont even by able to repair this vehicle if something happens again in the future. Currently the vehicle is unoperable. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | During a road trip we exited the highway and suddenly we have a flat tire on Front right of vehicle. We saw no object in the tire it was just flat. We change the tire with our spare and got back on the road on the way home. After the first flat the Service Antilock Braking System and alternated to Service Electronic Brake System messages aper as well as the cruse control not working. After driving another 2 1/2 hours at less than posted speed, we had another flat tire out of the blue, so we pulled off the highway. This time it was the Rear Right tire that was flat, and again no object in the tire. Did this issue cause these flats? I checked Ram's forum's and internet to see that this error meant. What I found out is there are thousands of Ram truck having this same issue. In order to fix this issue it would cost over $800 to have parts 68437098AB Module Anti Lock Brake System and 68143491AA Control Anti Lock Brake System replaced. However, I am seeing that many people who had these parts replaced are getting this error again. This could have been a very dangerous issue for me and my family. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2018 RAM 1500. The contact vehicle is related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel system diesel) and 23V411000 (Engine and engine cooling). VIN tool confirms there was 2 recalls at this time. However, the contact was driving up an incline at 65mph when the vehicle loss power. There was a strong odor and smoke was observed coming from the back of the vehicle. There was white fome coming out and surrounding both tail pipes of the vehicle. No lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed and diagnosed by a local mechanic and refused repair due to recall. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was not repaired, due to cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure milage was approximately 104,000. The vehicle was not part of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V757000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) | Crash: No Fire: No | 104,000 |
| Dec 2023 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Truck is showing code p026c means truck is runing lean and it has to do with the fuel pump recall and parts are not yet available I need this issue fixed because I'll be getting station in germany | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | When driving the check engine light came on, the car slowed up and would not start after. I had the truck towed to the dealership. The service manager told me the high pressure fuel pump shattered and shot metal debris through the system. The High Pressure Fuel Pump is not available even though it is on a recall list. I contacted Chrysler customer service, the representative essentially told me there was nothing they can do because the part was not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER | Blower motor stopped working so couldn't get window to defrost so I could see to drive. Replaced blower motor, still didn't work took it to shop they said connector to the TIPM module had melted so had it replaced plus asked mechanic to check all wiring, grounds, ect to see why blower motor not working. Pd over 700. To have this done blower motor worked for 1 day now doesn't work again. I believe the TIPM module is a safety and health hazard besides all the other stuff it messes up that just drive you crazy so it's also a mental health hazard. It a manufacturer defect on almost all there vehicles, not just the few they did put a Tipm recall on. Ty | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would consider covering half of the repair cost. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 70,000 |
| Dec 2023 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2018 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the crankshaft. The contact stated that the crankshaft had previously failed and had been repaired in 2021. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was 154,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 154,000 |
| Dec 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | GPS / Navigation system failure while vehicle was in use. System failure resulted in faulty position location on the moving map. When checked against the "HOME" location...the position error was 13 miles to the SouthEast. This failure is accompanied by erroneous Compass indication and a loss of Radio audio. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Dec 2023 | ENGINE | I am writing to urgently address a safety issue I have encountered with my 2018 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel VIN: [XXX] vehicle, which poses a significant risk to myself and others on the road. I purchased my 2018 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel in 2018. Regrettably, I have faced persistent problems with crankshaft bearing failures, resulting in engine failure on two occasions – first at 70,000 miles and subsequently after another 70,000 miles. Both instances necessitated engine replacements. The location of the truck is Ron Carter Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram League City at Address 3535 Gulf Fwy, League City, TX 77573. During the initial replacement, a rebuilt or used engine was installed per Chrysler's directive, which was stated to carry a three-year warranty. However, despite being within this warranty period, the dealership has declined to honor the warranty claim for the second engine failure. Beyond the financial strain this has imposed on my family, there is a grave safety concern associated with these repeated engine failures. The sudden loss of engine power while driving poses a significant risk on the road, creating unsafe conditions. I have experienced instances where the engine stopped abruptly, causing a near-collision due to the loss of power. I am reaching out to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to highlight this safety issue and to request your urgent assistance in addressing this matter. These repeated engine failures not only jeopardize my safety but also that of other motorists on the road. I implore the NHTSA to investigate this matter promptly to prevent potential accidents and ensure the safety of all drivers who might be affected by similar issues in these vehicles. I am open to providing additional details, and documentation, or participating in any investigations necessary to address this critical safety concern. I can be reached at [XXX] or [XXX] to discuss this matter further. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
