| Oct 2024 | ENGINE | I was driving on the interstate at 80 mph when my engine suddenly failed. The check engine light began to flash, the car began shaking, and there was a very loud thumping from the motor. Thankfully, I was able to pull off the road to safety. Honda diagnosed the problem this morning. They said a connecting rod bearing rotted out, so the engine threw a rod. There is a recall addressing this exact issue for my model year, but my VIN was not included in the recall. Doing a quick google search, I found several other owners of 2018 odysseys in the same boat - sudden engine failure due to a thrown rod, but their VIN wasn't included in the recall. I drive my car a lot, so it has 140,000 miles on it already. This makes me think that I'm likely to be in the early wave of vehicles experiencing sudden engine failure due to an issue with the conn rod bearing. Someone else may not get so lucky and be able to pull off the interstate when their engine blows. The repair is going to cost me approximately $8,000. Once I have the invoice and other documentation available, I'll share it here. I didn't want to delay sharing this information until after the repair is done, though, because if Honda doesn't expand their recall to include more 2018 Odysseys, someone else isn't going to get as lucky as me, and injury or death are a real likelihood. (Plus, having your engine suddenly fail is just a bummer regardless.) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Started my car and got all these warning lights ACC problem, Collision Mitigation Problem, Lake Keep Assist Problem, Auto High Beam Problem. From reading forums online this is a common issue for Honda Odysseys 2018-2023. The camera is faulty. This should have a recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | STRUCTURE | After weathering hurricane Milton, the rear liftgate on my 2018 Honda Odyssey will not open. No apparent damage was done to the vehicle, however after starting the van, the dash stated there is a power liftgate issue. This warning was not present before. After doing some research the issue appears to be the tailgate control module, as many other people have found this to be the case. Some people have said to open the tailgate from the inside using the manual latch. However, in my case after attempting to do so, the door remains stuck. A lot of people have pointed to water intrusion as the reason for a faulty Tailgate Control Module. If I am able to open the liftgate manually I intend to replace the faulty module. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | When I turned on the ignition to drive the vehicle, multiple warning lights came on to include failure of Lane Keeping Assistance, Forward Collision Avoidance, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking. Additionally, after acknowledging these lights, the "Brake System" light remained on in the Amber color. If these safety features are not working properly, it can put the occupants of my vehicle as well as others at risk. We took the vehicle to the Honda Dealer. They ran the diagnostics and stated that the fault was "Internal Electronic Failure of Multipurpose Camera Unit/Internal Failure of Multipurpose Camera". We had to replace the Multipurpose Camera and have the new one re-calibrated. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | STRUCTURE | This Honda Odysse 2018 model has leak water on rear corner . You have to find out where is leaking and fix it , if you don't fix water leak after you install new control unit it will happen again . To find out where is leaking is a major problem. Honda DO NOT recall on it | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Rear tailgate is inoperable because of water damage. The rear driver side seatbelt is wet, the floor of the trunk is wet, the water damaged the control module for the rear tailgate, it does not open. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The failure mileage was approximately 58,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 58,000 |
| Oct 2024 | LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Multipurpose camera failure. Warnings appeared upon failure after being parked in the shade on a moderately warm day ~80 degrees. Warnings with chimes reappear after being cleared, causing distraction while driving. Safety systems are inoperable without expensive camera replacement. Systems disabled as a result include Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation System, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Auto High Beam system. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | When trying to accelerate from a stop either in an intersection or from a driveway the vehicle takes a long moment before it responds... leaving my family vulnerable to cars coming from the opposite direction. I think it's the transmission but it could have to do with the fuel intake... it has been ongoing for months and months. The dealer has attempted to rectify but to not avail....very dangerous | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | UNKNOWN At random times I will push the gas pedal and the car does not engage at all to move. I will lift my foot up and down trying to engage the engine and it won’t. After a few times it will catch and the car takes off making the tires squeal, spin or jerk. It happens at random times, no warnings whatsoever that there’s a problem. It is very dangerous at intersections when turning left on green lights, when pulling out of parking lots. It’s to the point I am afraid to drive it at busy traffic times because it happens so often and I’m afraid of getting hit while my car will not move. We have told the dealership and they suggested we wait for the fuel pump recall to be readily available. I looked in forums and this seems to be a major problem for many other owners of the 2018 or newer. It started approximately two years ago and continues to happen, in fact happening more often. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Just purchased a 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite and as soon as I turned on the sound to listen to music for carplay /bluetooth/stereo all methods of sound it started making loud crackling sounds and starts going intermittent with sound cutting out. I lowered the volume and crackling still loud like little tiny rocks hitting window sound. I seen there's a recall with the same issue for other vehicles but when i input my VIN there's no recalls. I am having the same issue and feel like my vin /vehicle type should be on recall as well. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission hesitation when turning from stop. Scary when traffic is coming. Not safe and seems to be a common, known issue. https://www.odyclub.com/threads/2018-odyssey-having-1-3-second-acceleration-lag-from-stopped-or-rolling-on-9-speed-transmission.368250/ https://www.reddit.com/r/HondaOdyssey/comments/pxw7xz/2018_honda_odyssey_having_major_acceleration/ https://www.odyclub.com/threads/hesitation-on-acceleration.362860/ | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | My 2018 Honda Odyssey van have had persistent acceleration hesitations after completed stops, especially during making left or right turns at street intersections since July 2022. This car normally hesitates for 2 to 3 seconds after accelation pedad is pressed before suddently jumps forward. Acceleration hesitation for few seconds, during making a turn, is very dangerous due to in coming cars in my opinion; as a result, we have tried to avoid using my odyssey van as much as possible due to potential accidents when making a turn with this Honda van. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission unexpectedly shifted to park(P), and the vehicle shut off while approaching a traffic light. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the failure recurred while driving and exiting a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The mechanic related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 100,000 |

| Sep 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE | The tailgate malfunctions and the car does not register the tailgate as closed even if it is closed. The power tailgate ceases to be operational and the locks do not work. The cause is a defect in a seam which allows rain water to reach the control unit for the tailgate. This was confirmed after an inspection at an official Honda dealer. This is a safety issue because it renders the car inoperable. The “tailgate open” warning signs and sounds flash. There is currently a Honda “Engineering Request for Investigation” released. It can be accessed at the following link: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Sep 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | The adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and other safety functions associated with the front camera failed. These safety features are a huge part of the vehicle and doesn't feel safe to drive. The front camera has failed in under 6 years and is currently being replaced by the dealer to hopefully fix these issues. The repair is not covered by Honda. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Sep 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Vehicle started to display ACC PROBLEM, LKAS PROBLEM, TRNSMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM, COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM, ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM, AUTO LIGHTS PROBLEM and BLIND SPOT INFO SYSTEM PROBLEM recently around September 19,2024 and disabled all the safety features mentioned on the vehicle while it is in motion. This is a huge safety issue and could cause severe problem for many drivers and passengers in case of serious accidents which could be avoided if those systems are functioning properly. Upon researching the issue, this is very common problem for many of similar vehicles and it seems to be related to the monocular camera on the windshield. I strongly urge for quick investigation on this matter and have Honda Motors to do a recall for replacing faulty camera as it could impact many lives. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
