Apr 2026 SEAT BELTS,WHEELS,SERVICE BRAKES Had an issue with driver assist radar when in complete control. Until you’re not! Brakes lock up skidding tires and causing seat belts to lock up. It happens so suddenly it scares you to the point of heart attack. This has happened: merely backing out of driveway, when accelerating in your lane with car in turn lane beside you turning right. And most recently on FL Turnpike while in stopped/slowed traffic due to emergency vehicles trying to get to scene of Naples wildfire. When I accelerated as traffic resumed at slow speed the car locks up brakes, squalling tires and slewing sideways. It startled me so much my heart was racing and I didn’t know if the car was still running or not. There was an 18 wheeler coming up behind and I was frozen not knowing what to do next. I don’t know if sensitivity can be adjusted or what it needs but my heart can’t take many more of these incidents. I will report to dealer as well. I know there is a Reddit thread about these same issues that my daughter found on researching this issue.

Apr 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER I have about 13,500 miles on my 2025 Tucson Hyundai. The screen with the speedometer and HUD constantly turns on and off so you have no idea what speed you're going, if you need fuel and several other readings. It has been repaired once. Took it back to the dealer a second time, they said there was no issue. It is still doing it, and I am making an appointment to return it to the dealer again for service. I drive on a very busy interstate daily to and from work. I feel this is a safety issue. I googled the problem and many accounts of this happening to other owners can be found with the same issue. I think Hyundai needs to issue a recall and make sure their engineering department finds the source of this and corrects the problem before someone is in an accident or just stranded on some highway.

Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I forgot to mention that with my two accidents while slowing down for traffic or a turn, that phantom braking happens almost every day now (it happened about 7 times in 4 minutes while I was on the highway, that's not exageration) Curves on the highway with a car diagonal to you in the center lane while you're passing, weird light reflection, falling snow, dust in a construction zone, anything. I can't drive with it on as it alerts to nothing. It's very scary to drive with it on, so now I have a useless safety feature that is really more like a death trap in the right circumstances, which will come.... Someone will be doing 70 on the highway, and their Hyundai Tucson will slam it's brakes on full tilt and it will cause injury and/or death. It's only a matter of time.

Apr 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The display on the dashboard that includes the speedometer and other information goes completely blank. So does the heads-up display on the windshield. This could occur at the same time or individually. It may last only a few seconds or for several minutes. This has happened since I bought the car about 1.5 years ago. I've had it to the dealership and they have noted the problem but have not been able to fix it. I know that Genesis, which is part of Hyundai has had recalls about this problem, but so far Hyundai has not. Since it involves a loss of the speedometer, I think that it is a safety problem and should be addressed. It happens almost every time that I drive the car.

Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Phantom Braking due to Forward collision detection has caused one front end collision in snow and one rear end collision in a construction zone while I was slowing down. In one instance it was snowing and in one instance it was in a dusty construction zone slowing for steel plates.

Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE This incident occured in The Woodlands, Texas, about a 45 min drive north of my home. I was headed south on [XXX] . I had pulled into a left turn lane at the intersection of [XXX] . After the oncoming traffic had cleared, I proceeded to make a left turn onto [XXX] . My Hyundai Tucson slammed on the brakes just as I entered the oncoming lane. The FCA was OFF. I was able to hit the gas and start moving forward again before any oncoming traffic got to this intersetion. There was no warning before the brakes were applied. Note, the FCA safety function was absolutely positively turned off. We have gotten into the habit of turning it off to avoid these unintended, unexpected sudden complete stops. Now I'm concerned the FCA system has more problems than just being overly senstive or malfunctioning causing numerous sudden braking issues. Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was stopped behind another car in a through-lane in the parking lot at Marshall's. I was fully stopped about 1 car length behind another stopped car. I decided to make a left turn (from my stopped position) into a perpendicular through-lane in the same parking lot. Just after I drove my entire car to the left of the parked car, my Hyundai Tucson slammed on the breaks. There were no cars coming toward me in the oncoming through-lane. There were no cars in front of me or coming toward me in the perpendicular through-lane. The FCA was OFF. Again, I don't understand why the car is appying the brakes while I'm going forward if the FCA is off.

Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning systems activated while making a left turn after stopping for a red traffic light and locked the brakes of the vehicle in the middle of the intersection with no other car in front of me. Dash alerted that a collision was going to occur. This was the second time. The first time it happened the dealer said it can happen if there is a bug or dirt on the sensor in the bumper or dirty windshield by the camera, they even said it can happen with glare from the sun or light glare.

Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE On two occasions, the automatic emergency braking system engaged potentially causing an accident. The first occurred at an intersection where I was attempting to turn left from a stop. The system would not allow me to proceed until the bus attempting an opposite left turn left the intersection. The weather was clear and sunny. The second occurred while on a freeway onramp. There were no vehicles in front or to my side. The AEB detected a phantom threat and immediately braked to a stop. The car behind me was barely able to avoid rear ending my vehicle. My passenger was a witness to this jarring event. The weather was clear and sunny. Both incidents occurred with an odometer reading of <3500 miles. My local Hyundai dealer has attempted to recreate the phantom breaking, but were not able to recreate the circumstances and therefore not know what system required repair/replacement. The case #42211163 was assigned. Given the uncertainty of when the system will inadvertently break and the inability to permanently turn off AEB on this vehicle, I am very concerned about driving the vehicle.

Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Subject: 2025 Hyundai Tucson - Persistent Phantom Braking Issue I am reporting a severe safety defect regarding the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have experienced five separate "Phantom Braking" incidents where the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) engaged abruptly without any obstacles in the path. In the most recent incident, the vehicle suddenly braked from 30 mph to 20 mph] while driving on a highway. There were no cars or objects in front of me. This unpredictable behavior is extremely dangerous as it almost caused a rear-end collision with trailing vehicles. I believe this is a systemic software or sensor defect that misinterprets shadows or road signs as hazards. I request a formal investigation into this safety risk.

Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE My wife was driving our Hyundai Tucson on the city street at about 35 mph. She signaled left to get into a turning lane. The turning lane has two lanes and is very long. She got into the turning lane and the traffic in front of her stopped. The car's collision avoidance system activated and slammed on the brakes even though the vehicle was not very close to the cars in front of her. As a result, a vehicle behind her rear ended her causing over $9,000 in damage. This car has done this before on the highway and city street. The collision sensitivity setting was on normal and had been since we got the car and until the accident. I had also been driving the car when the collision avoidance activated. The problem with this car is that it only knows to slam on the brakes and results in getting rear ended. It does not gradually apply the brakes even when the car in front is not very close and locking up the brakes is not necessary and is actually unsafe as shown when my wife was in a rear collision accident. This is a major safety problem and needs to be looked into.

Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light, while attempting to accelerate, the brakes engaged unexpectedly. On another occasion, while driving approximately 60 MPH, the brakes unexpectedly engaged without driver input and failed to properly respond for approximately 5 to 10 seconds. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle resumed normal operation afterwards. The Forward Collision Avoidance early detection sensor indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,946.

Apr 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,BACK OVER PREVENTION Vehicle began flashing check driver assistance for rear sensors repeatedly while traveling out of state on March 30th with an occasional flash of check AWD/4WD. On March 31st the vehicle flashed the warnings along with a variety of others flashing on the infotainment screen rapidly and shut off while driving. I was barely able to restart to get it safely into a parking lot before it shut down completely without restarting. The vehicle was towed to the Hyundai dealership that it was purchased from. The diagnostics show electrical and safety systems issues. The dealership and Hyundai USA has been less than transparent regarding a repair plan and potential completion date. It is currently April 21st with no end in sight. The vehicle feels completely unsafe to me and I regret the purchase wholeheartedly.

Apr 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER "Consider Taking a Break" warning comes on every 3-5 minutes after the car has been driving for an hour or so. Even after stopping, taking a break, and switching drivers, the warning comes on repeatedly. This is not a safety feature - it is a SAFETY HAZARD. It is distracting to the point of being dangerous.

Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE On at least three occasions, the emergency braking system has engaged when there was no risk of a collision. The vehicle ahead was moving forward and was a safe distance ahead. This has occurred even when the forward collision system is set to "Late." When the emergency braking system engaged, it stopped the vehicle with such force that it threw items in the back seat forward into the foot well and was very jarring for me, the driver. This has made me anxious when driving the vehicle and is very frustrating.

Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the Forward Attention Warning (FAW) system had failed to detect the driver's eyes while wearing sunglasses, causing the cruise control to disengage unintendedly. Several messages advising the driver to pay attention to the road were displayed. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while wearing prescription glasses and while the driver was not wearing glasses. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the system could not be disabled because the manufacturer considered it a safety feature. The dealer informed the contact that a software update was previously performed over-the-air to correct the issue; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 800.

Apr 2026 SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was driving on the highway in heavy traffic going about 65 mph. An unusual symbol appeared on the dash in red that I don't know what It was or what it meant but I thought it must be something serious. Then a warning came up saying for me to take a break. Then a different warning came up saying that I should take control of the car immediately, it was about to brake. The car immediately began to brake. Fortunately I was in the right hand lane of the three-lane highway and I was able to pull into the breakdown lane. I can't even imagine what would have happened if I was in the middle or far left lane. I was not unobservant and both of my hands were on the steering wheel when this happened. Once the vehicle stopped, the symbol on the dash disappeared and the brakes released. I was able to resume driving. Although there was no accident, injury or fire, and no police report needed, this does not discount the seriousness of this event. This could have been life-threatening if I had been in a different lane or had panicked, causing a multi car pileup in the heavy traffic. Serious enough that I feel the need to get rid of this car.

Apr 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER On 4/14/26, the glass area between the sunroof and directly above the front windshield, cracked and subsequently shattered. There was no impact and currently there is no damage to the sunroof or windshield. Upon checking online to figure out what this area is called, I discovered that this is a common problem with Hyundai vehicles (spontaneous glass cracking/shattering). This is a safety issue as shattered glass could get lodged in the vehicle or fly off the vehicle and injure someone. I have an appointment with a local Hyundai dealer tomorrow morning (4/19/26) to inspect the issue.

Apr 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Sometimes in heavy rain, using the washer fluid or bright sunlight I get an alert that the Foward Collision Avoidance sensor disabled. Usually doesn’t last long unless there is heavy rain. This system shouldn’t be triggered by things that happen frequently. This isn’t an issue in my Santa Fe. The only time that sensor is inoperable is in very heavy snow that has covered the front of the vehicle

Apr 2026 LANE DEPARTURE The constant and on and off "Consider Taking a Break" warnings are VERY distracting. I'm driving safely and attentively, and these even come on sometimes when I'm JUST starting to drive (why do I need to take a break if I haven't driven in over a day?). Unnecessary alarm that does NOT do when it says it does and overrides any other sound or alarm I should actually be listening to.

Apr 2026 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER The car was backing out of a driveway in Reverse. Came to a stop to shift to drive, and recieved a "shift system malfunction! Service immediately" screen message and the car was locked in the middle of the roadway unable to be put into any gear or be turned off. It was a huge roadway safety issue. The tow driver had to search for a code or sequence of commands to put it into neutral to be able to be safely lifted onto the tow bed, and the vehicle was stuck in accessory mode, which effectively drained the battery.
