| Mar 2026 | ENGINE | On Saturday January 31, 2026, I was driving and the tachometer started to go low like the car was going to stall out and the car began to shake. Then the check engine light came on. I was afraid to drive it, so I parked it in a church parking lot and had it towed to Burlington Hyundai on Sunday February 1, 2026. On Monday February 2, 2026 Burlington Hyundai said there was a problem with the spark plugs and that was why the check engine light came on. They replaced the spark plugs and it was covered under warranty. I got my car back on Tuesday February 3, 2026. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ENGINE | On October 8, 2025, my car's tachometer started to dip and my car began to shake like it was going to stall as I approached a traffic light. The check engine light came on. I was close to my destination (about a 1/4 mile) so I drove to the parking lot and turned off the car. I started it again and the check engine light turned off and the car was running fine. On October 13, 2025, I took my car in for a routine oil change to a local repair shop and when they tried to reset the oil change reminder, the system would not work. Within a day, the entire computer system for the radio, warning systems, air conditioner/heat, etc, would not work. I took it to Burlington Hyundai on October 15, 2025 and they had to replace the CPU in the car. I got my car back on October 22, 2025. They said the check engine light did not come on again. It was covered under my warranty. I had my brakes replaced while they had the car out of convenience. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER | My car was parked, without any trees or other objects that could possibly damage my car near by, and the glass on my front windshield cracked for absolutely no reason. It starts where the glass attached to the car and spreads to the middle of my windshield. I believe there is an installation defect because this car is only 2 years old and has never had any damage to it. I also read that this is a common problem with other Hyundai models. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was driving on the highway with no one in front of me. The car suddenly slammed on the brakes and flashed "emergency breaking system" on my dash. My car went from about 75 mpg down to 50. The car behind me almost rear-ended me. He then proceeded to pass me and brake check me because he thought I had deliberately brake checked him. This incident caused the man behind me to get road rage and react dangerously to me. I hit the gas and it finally stopped breaking and let me gain speed up again. It was terrifying. This is not the first time this has happened but it was the first time in the highway. It has happened several times on side roads for no reason either. I have an appointment with Hyundai to figure out what they can do because I don't feel safe driving this car. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | My 2024 SEL hybrid has a very annoying acceleration delay after a full or partial stop. The delay has occurred many times. It is present no matter which mode the car is on. It is not a matter of slow acceleration, but a 1-2 second delay of anything happening after I press the pedal. this could be a safety issue when you're at a stop sign and you need to proceed and you can't go. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | My wife was slowly pulling into a parking spot, when at about 10ft from curb the car suddenly accelerated faster than she even thought the car even was capable of (the AWD likely helped). It hopped the curb and hit a tree. She backed it up to the parking spot (it acted normally) and had it towed to dealer. In hindsight, the car had been having a progressive amount and frequency of delay in normal acceleration, sometimes having a pause of up to second or two from pedal input to car response. We asked the dealer to check the EDR (event data recorder). The tech first said he didn't even know what that was, then that he checked with all his fellow techs and they didn't know either, then the story changed to the model not having an EDR. We politely told him which page in the Hyundai manual he can find it, and he refused to look, as did his boss. Car was transferred to a body shop, and disposition was to total the vehicle. While the body shop was still evaluating the car, we contacted a second dealer, who said they don't have a reader. I inspected the floormats before the car was towed, as that was an initial suspect, but it was locked in and clearly there was no obstruction. She was wearing tennis shoes and doesn't recall ever having an instance of hitting the wrong pedal in any vehicle. She thinks she was only coasting, not even touching the brake yet. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I had to retrieve something from the back of my Hyundai Tucson Hybrid SUV, opened the back door. I retrieved several items and placed them in a safe area. Got back into my vehicle and proceeded to drive into my garage (with the rear door fully open). Next thing I heard was my Tucson crashing into my garage door. I had no warnings, flashing lights or audio sounds nothing that would help me avoid that collision. The reason I purchased this particular vehicle was because it comes with sensors and cameras completely around the vehicle (including the rear). In fact on the rear door is sensor and a camera. In fact I can park the Tucson out of the vehicle. The sensors will ensure that it will not collide with anything. Same is true in a very tight parking spot. Anyway the other 4 passenger doors have several warning signals. From low ibeeping to very loud annoying audio sounds that you cannot ignore. I’ve contacted Hyundai Motor America and they’ve denied my complaint. They claim that the extent of the “warning is a red light on the dash”. My local dealership kept my Tucson for 11 days not knowing what to do and how to resolve this problem. I’ve come to reply on the audio warning system, and as a Senior Citizen, not to look at the dash to prevent collisions. This is very serious ,especially, if that door is not locked while I’m driving, any thing can push open the door, resulting in injury or death to people in the vehicle or on the road. This is compounded by the fact that Hyundai produces many types of SUVs, including Genesis. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I was rear-ended at an extremely high speed by an intoxicated driver. The impact from being rear-ended pushed my vehicle into another car, damaging the front and rear of my vehicle. My car was a 2024 Tucson with 14,646 miles in perfect condition. No warning lights were on the vehicle, as I consistently take excellent care of my cars. The airbags did not deploy. My car was totaled. I had several injuries from the accident. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 2 Towed Medical attention | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | At high speeds above 40 MPH vehicle automatically brakes with no vehicle or objects in front while vehicle is in operation. Very concerning when driving on interstate. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The panoramic sunroof in my 2024 Hyundai Tucson Limited shattered while driving on the interstate. It sounded like an explosion and frightened me while driving. I was able to maintain control of my vehicle, and fortunately, my headliner was closed, preventing glass from falling on me. The flying debris created a hazard for other drivers. I took my vehicle to the Hyundai dealership where I purchased it, and I am awaiting a response from the Service Manager for repair. The vehicle is less than a year old and has less than 9,000 miles on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | See attached document for complaint. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ENGINE | The contact owned a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that his wife was reversing out of the work parking space, the brake pedal was depressed, and when the gear shift was shifted into drive(D), the vehicle then accelerated independently. The contact stated that the engine revved, hit a parked vehicle, bounced off that vehicle, and continued to accelerate independently, abruptly veered the steering wheel to the left to avoid hitting a tree. The contact's vehicle then hit a second parked vehicle, where it came to a stop. No warning lights were illuminated, and none of the warning alarms sounded. The driver’s and passenger’s side air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries sustained. The insurance company was notified and towed the vehicle to a collision center. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,000. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | 17,000 |
| Jun 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My a/c system has a strong mold/mildew smell. The dealership flushed the system and said a bunch of black mold came out. It has been 3 months and the issue is back. It can’t possibly be safe and healthy to be constantly breathing in mold spores. I have seen a ton of other owners complaining about the same issue. I definitely think the a/c drain design is faulty in some regard. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | On multiple occasions the vehicle has not transferred from EV to mechanical mode and has stalled out. Shutting the car and restarting it resolved the problem each time. Hyundai has not been able to find the fault after multiple trips to the dealership and no code is recorded or reported. I bought a code reader and the last time this occurred recorded a code. P1120 $07e8Pd I brought the car back into Hyundai and reported the code to- It was not saved in the car's memory. They have had the car for over 3 weeks now and repairs have not been completed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the manual speed limit assist erroneously activated causing the vehicle to suddenly decelerate, and the vehicle failed to exceed 20 MPH. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 40,000 |
| May 2025 | AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | My wife and I purchased a 2024 Hyundai Tucson in June. Since February 28, 2025 the SRS indicator lights have come on twice. Hyundai replaced the airbag twice. In March, the emergency brake system red lights illuminated, and the car came to an abrupt stop. Luckily, there were no Cars behind me. Seconds later, the car resumed, and the lights disappeared. Hyundai dealership took the car in and returned it in two hours noting they could not duplicate. Several days ago, the same thing happened with the emergency brake system. Driving at approximately 40 mph the car slammed on brakes and the dash illuminated again. No cars behind me. The dealership returned the car once again, noting they could not duplicate. The car has less than 8000 miles. I won’t allow my wife to drive more than 10 miles alone. It’s unsafe. The manual states the car is not to be driven with any of the sys indicators on and to do so would cause serious injury or damage to the car. I will send attachments of invoices, NHTSA complaints and Hyundai manual info about unsafe condition. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Owner [XXX] [XXX] . Driver [XXX] [XXX] ) [XXX] All of a sudden my 2024 Tucson vin: [XXX] gages indicated emergency braking for about 1 to 3 seconds and the front end went down ,(my wife and I went foward ) as though I was stopping (scared me ). It was the forward collision avoidance sys. I was so happy no one was behind me. Avoided a rear end collision. [XXX] we were Traveling west in the left lane of a three lane highway. I released the gas pedal to make a left turn in a left turn lane. The light was red. No one really behind me or to my left. Only one car to the right of me in another lane. This is dangerous! This is my wife’s car. Enough said!!!! Car was at the dealer for a couple of hours. They could not duplicate. Said it could have been my floor mat “that made my emergency lights come on the dash.” “STUPID” This occurred the day after picking up my car from the dealer. Feb. 28, Hyundai replaced the Air bag. STS light came on. Picked the car up Monday. Today [XXX] Thursday) the STS Airbag light came on again. The bag was replaced again. [XXX] the front collision sys emergency stop sys alerted again. Again, Hyundai declared they could not duplicate. This is an unsafe car. A death trap. Hyundai warns death may occur if using while driving can cause death. They also warn us using the emergency brake while driving may damage the brakes or cause a collision. | May 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that before the vehicle stalled, there were several unknown warning lights illuminated before the instrument cluster went black. The contact pulled over and shifted to park(P) and was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The contact stated that the failure had occurred intermittently and at various speeds. The vehicle also occurred while stopped at a traffic signal. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 18,000 |
| Apr 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Driving 70 on the interstate without any cars in front or side of me and car auto hard braked down to 60 and red emergency brake light was on. An 18 wheeler was behind me. Luckily no injuries or accidents happened. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | As I am driving on the Garden State Parkway on sunny days and rainy days at approx 70-75 mph the Emergency Braking System notification activated on the dashboard in red, a noise activates and the car feels like it is going to stop short. This seems to occur about one and a half hours into my ride There are no cars in front of me or directly next to me. This occurs randomly and has happened seven or eight times since I leased the car in December 2024. It is very scary and the service techs at the dealership where I leased it cannot duplicate the occurrence because it is random. I feel unsafe driving the car because I am afraid at some point the car may stop on the highway. As it is now it feels like it is going to stop because it slows down. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | AIR BAGS,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | All of a sudden my 2024 Tucson gages indicated emergency braking for about 1 to 3 seconds and the front end went down as though I was stopping (scared me ). I was so happy no one was behind me. No one really behind me or to my left. Only one car to the right of me in another lane. Also, had to replace air bag at 6176 miles | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Forward Collision Emergency Braking. Have had this happen on 5 different occasions. Very dangerous. The vehicle without warning slams on the emergency brakes and issues a warning. Took into dealer and they could find NO error codes and did nothing. First time this happened I thought maybe a bag or something flew up and obscured the forward facing sensors. Pulled over and checked nothing. Then 3 times it happened within 5 minutes. Pulled over and sensors looked fine no dirt or anything on the sensors. Can not drive car with this and so have been disabling the system except for a warning tone. Today it activated it again. Usually when I approach something the sensors turn yellow and then red when getting real close to an object. But today when it activated when not close to anything and driving down the road all the forward sensors activated with the warning but it was gray. (not yellow or red) Since I had it on warning only the brakes did not activate. This is very dangerous and unless you disable the automatic emergency braking could lead someone to plow into the backend of the SUV and it evidentially does not cause error codes. Yes,someone can contact me concerning this. This has happened multiple times. Intermittently. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | My car automatically braked in the middle of an intersection and caused my vehicle to be rear-ended. This was the third time automatic braking engaged when it should not have been. In the most recent incident on [XXX] I was injured and had to have medical attention. I googled automatic braking and there were many reports of automatic braking being deployed when it should not have been. | Feb 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER | While driving my 2024 Hyundai Tucson at highway speeds on a clear day with no surrounding traffic, I was startled by an extremely loud bang that sounded like an explosion. Pieces of shattered glass rained down inside the passenger cabin, creating a potentially hazardous situation. This incident was a traumatic experience. The sudden and unexpected event had the potential to cause serious injury to the driver, as well as increase the risk of a collision due to the shock and distraction it caused. Additionally, other pieces of shattered glass were propelled from the vehicle, posing a risk of injury or damage to other drivers on the road. Upon physical inspection, it was noted that the glass from the panoramic sunroof was bowed upwards, which suggests the explosion originated from within the sunroof and NOT an external factor such as road debris or a rock. The vehicle, which is less than a year old, is currently at the Hyundai dealership pending an investigation. Given the severity of the incident and the potential risks to driver and passenger safety, I strongly recommend that a recall be issued or a comprehensive investigation be initiated by the NHTSA to prevent further occurrences of such dangerous incidents. Safety must be a priority, and swift action is necessary to ensure that no other drivers or passengers are at risk of similar events. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | Sudden loss of speed for no reason. was traveling at 35 mph when vehicle suddenly dropped to 22 mph. Stepped on gas with no response. I know the 22 mph because it showed up on warning illuminator. Car behind me almost hit me because he had no indication (prior warning). Turned off at closest exit, turned vehicle off then on restart things were normal. Took to dealer and they found nothing in computer code or mechanical to explain why this happened. Am an older women afraid what will happen if repeats on highway going 70+ mph. Please made Hyundia find and fix. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
