| Aug 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I bought my car in 2024 and my monitor keeps glitching out. One month into buying the car, the monitor began glitching out, affecting my gps. These problems began in March. I took it to service in May, and they said they had it fixed. However, after a little bit, the same monitor problems came back. There were multiple times where my monitor went completely blank when I was driving far, leaving me shocked and scared. The monitor also went completely blank when I was reversing, almost leading to an accident because of this car's failure. I contacted service again, and they said that I would have to wait a month for the car to be looked at. But I don't want to wait this long, because I am not comfortable with this car anymore and am scared that something might happen because of the monitor glitches. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | AIR BAGS | Involved in a car accident 4/24 going 60 mph, driver cut over and made contact near driver side door, causing us to also slam into a concrete wall on passenger door. After 3 months and up to 29k in damages, insurance declared our car a total loss on 7/23/24. On 7/25/24 the recall was released. No airbags deployed but I had 2 airbag safety codes on my phone (after accident) I didn’t have the car for. 4/11 and on. POA was signed on 7/24/24 releasing car to at fault party’s insurance. Hyundai said they can’t do any investigation on the car to determine if it was a fault. Collision site and dealership was surprised airbags did not deploy. The final damage reported was the inner most pillar that was “last line of defense, cannot be repaired must be replaced” per collision site, had a crack all the way down. I was 30 weeks pregnant and now dealing with ongoing back issues and my toddler was in her car seat. Going that speed with that much damage and hit on both sides should have deployed airbags. Also interesting timing our car was totaled 2 days before official recall. All seatbelts in car “deployed” but side airbags did not. No airbags did | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 1 Towed Medical attention | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission failure. Problem confirmed by dealership on 7/22. Problem arose on 7/20 with car jumping forward abrublty and started making a clicking noise and hesitating. Did not learn about recall until I logged into my insurance company website to pay my insurance and it listed a recall on my Santa Fe on 7/20. Dropped car off at dealership on 7/22 and was told later that day it would need a new transmission and the dealership was told by Hyundai to give me a loaner car until Hyundai decided what to do about my car. I filed a claim on 7/23 with Hyundai about doing a buy back. I was told I would receive a call in 2-3 business days but have yet to receive one. I called Hyundai on 7/31 and was told my case manager had left a voice mail for me on 7/29 but I have no vm or missed call. I was given my case managers direct phone number and left a vm. Today is 8/1 and my 2024 Santa Fe Calligraphy that I bought on 6/28 and drove for only 3 weeks is sitting in the dealerships parking lot and per dealership, on 7/31 they are still waiting to hear from HYUNDAI. It has 1300 miles on it and luckily I did not get stranded 400 miles away while on vacation. I am very upset that no one contacted me or when problems started to occur with this vehicle, nothing was done and the vehicles were still being sold to the public | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, there was water leaking into the cabin of the vehicle from underneath the instrument panel onto the accelerator pedal. Additionally, while operating the vehicle, the engine and outside the vehicle were extremely hot, and the temperature gauge had malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100. | Crash: No Fire: No | 100 |
| Jul 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | On July 3, 2024 the vehicle was parked on my driveway. My driveway is very steep, the sun was out and it was windy. I opened the car and got in, the wind caught the door and it slammed shut. The back window shattered and many small glass particles were on ground behind the car and on the backs of the second and third row seats that were down. If someone had been sitting in the third row seat they would have been cover in glass. The dealer said that this could not have happened as described, but it did, and that I should repair the window my self. The glass is only 1/8 inch thick and I asked the glass company if they could get a thicker pane, none is available. I believe the manufacturer should recall and replace the back window with a stronger pane. Pictures and repair invoice to be mailed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Our 2024 Santa Fe while traveling 70mph on the freeway suddenly lost power and went into what Hyundai warranty described as "limp mode'. This happened 2x. The 1st time was June 26, 2024 and the 2nd time was June 29th 2024. Both times the high pressure fuel pump was diagnosed by 2 different Hyundai dealership service facilities. Both times were highly potentially serious risk situations- traveling at highway speeds in traffic when suddenly losing engine power, and having to navigate off freeway/highway with no acceleration, basically rolling/drifting off. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN | DCT transmission issue | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Two incidents prior to taking in to the dealership: Thursday, 6/27: Car would not reverse when trying to get out of parking spot. Even though it was indicating reverse it kept moving forward in neutral Friday, 6/28: Car would not go into park. When I tried to set it in park it switched between gears erratically before ending on neutral. Received warning to take it to the dealer and could not turn off car—it stayed in accessory mode. Wednesday, 7/3: Learned from dealer that there was a hole in transmission. No update on how long it will take to be repaired. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | Shuddering/shaking when driving. Whether or not when accelerating. Turn vehicle on and it jolted and died but would start up again after a few minutes. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | While I was driving, my new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe suddenly experienced issues with the digital dashboard panel and a loss of speed. The dashboard went haywire, and my speed dropped from 60 mph to approximately 25 mph on the highway. The vehicle also struggled to accelerate from a standstill. After shutting off the vehicle and waiting a few minutes, the dashboard appeared to reset, and everything returned to normal. I immediately returned the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not find any issues as no codes were displayed. The abrupt decrease in speed while driving is a significant concern, as it could have resulted in a rear-end collision on the highway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | POWER TRAIN | My transmission went out at only 1800 miles. It slipped out of gear 2 times while driving. Looking on line I see that I am not the only one. Also people are saying that there 2nd transmission goes out also. I am in the middle of trying to get a buy out. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | When placed in "Park" the vehicle's brakes did not engage, which allowed the vehicle to roll backwards when I exited the vehicle. I was able to reproduce the problem again and I recorded a video showing the problem. When pressing "Park" on the electronic shifter, the dashboard displays that the video is in "Park". However, the brakes are not engaged as evidenced by the vehicle rolling backwards when I take my foot off the brake. After reproducing the issue a couple times (~ 10 minutes later) and documenting the issue with a video, the check engine light eventually came on and the dashboard displayed: "PARK malfunction. Engage parking brake when parking vehicle." Which quickly changed to the warning message: "Shifter system malfunction! Service immediately" The vehicle would no longer let me place it in "park" and it remained on in "accessory mode" and I was unable to turn off "accessory mode" since the vehicle could not be placed in park. However, neither of these error messages appeared the 3-4 times I was able to place the vehicle in "park" and then observe it roll back. The vehicle has been towed to Northwest Hyundai for inspection/repair. >> How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The car rolling uncontrolled is a huge safety hazard to anyone that happens to be in the path of the car. It is also a huge safety hazard to any occupants that might remain in the vehicle when the driver exits after placing it in park. >> Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not yet. The service error that appeared prevented the car from being placed in "park". However, I was able to capture a video of the problem. >> Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, there were no error messages of any kind. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | 16 warning lights came on. Blinkers are t working, side cameras not working and many other features. Then the check engine light came on. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When driving the cluster panel with speedometer etc goes black for a bit and then comes back on. Also, all the warning lights will come on sporadically at the same time and stay on for a few seconds then go away, or just stay on until car is turned off. Heads up display also goes away and sometimes can't even locate in their settings area. After about 10 min of my phone being on wireless charger it gives me a warning message that my phone is getting hot and to remove the phone. Bought vehicle new on April 13th and this all started within the first week and continue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Purchased this car new from Crain Hyundai, Conway AR, on 4/1/2024. On 4/3 we called dealer because Bluelink reported 13 maintenance critical issues needed immediate service. Took the vehicle to dealer on 4/4. They worked on vehicle, said they fixed issue and notices would disappear over night. Issues did not, so 4/5 dealer had vehicle picked up, loaner left, and they would fix in 2 days. Issues still not fixed on 4/8. They have no idea how to fix and they want us to accept vehicle as-is. Was told this morning by dealer staff that there has been multiple occurrence of this issue and not fixed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
