Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Feb 2025 EXTERIOR LIGHTING The auto-dimming bright lights are too sensitive, going on & off so quickly it creates a hazard to the driver & on-coming traffic. It is almost like a strobe light. These trucks have had this very same problem for years. Please force a fix.
Incident: Feb 2025
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Feb 2025 EXTERIOR LIGHTING The auto dimming headlight feature is too sensitive. There is constant toggle of high and low beams when this feature in enabled. Any and all type of reflection from street and traffic signage trigger the lights to dim which causes the constant on and off of high beams. This causes distraction of both the driver of the affected vehicle and drivers of other vehicles in close proximity. Honda service said there is no way to adjust sensitivity setting.

Feb 2025 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Gasoline fumes originating from engine compartment and entering the cabin of vehicle via HVAC. Fumes are thick enough to cause eyes to water, mild respiratory distress (coughing) and clothing to smell of gasoline after exiting the vehicle. Concerns exist about possible fuel leak given how dense the fumes are. Multiple users on social media report similar issues of gasoline fumes from the motor coming into the cabin via HVAC system across the Honda lineup, but mainly users with the 3.5 liter v6 motor. Some point to leaking fuel lines. Of those I found looking for a solution, all said Honda techs either located a fuel leak or were unable to fix. Dealer will be inspecting vehicle at next oil change if not sooner if problem continues to worsen. Issue is intermittent but increasing in incidents over the past three days. With the motor running, vehicle idling in park and HVAC system off, the fumes do not enter the cabin. The moment the HVAC system is turned on, the cabin begins to fill with fuel fumes. Fumes don’t fully disperse from the cabin when driving unless at highway speeds. Vehicle was purchased new from dealer, has never been involved in any incidents or experienced any issues beyond poor drivers side window performance. The check engine light isn’t illuminated nor are any other fault indicators. NOTE: given how many complaints I’m seeing online about this exact issue, I wanted to submit this to see how many others have reported fuel fumes coming from the motor. If it is as widespread as users indicate, I’d hope that multiple reports have been submitted and my report is one more into you launching an investigation. I live on a farm with equipment twice my age. Fuel fumes don’t happen inside the vehicle unless something is wrong, even the oldest trucks on the property with fuel tanks stored behind the drivers seat inside the cabin.

Jan 2025 EXTERIOR LIGHTING The headlights automatic dim function is dangerous. It will repeatedly flash the brights or high beams at on coming vehicles as they approach and even when they are quite close as you pass head on. This will blind oncoming traffic and most likely cause road rage in some susceptible people. The function is sometimes automatically turned on and difficult to turn off. When in dark areas where high beams should be used the headlights continually go from high to low for no apparent reason. In rural areas or on highways with poor paint it makes it dangerous to see animals or pedestrians as well as the road shoulder. This should merit a recall as a check on reports found on the internet show that this is a systemic problem associated particularly with the Honda Ridgeline.

Jan 2025 EXTERIOR LIGHTING,VISIBILITY/WIPER The highbeams while not failing do not operate in a safe manner. While driving you are unable to really disable them. While driving about 12 miles down hill the Auto High beams repeatedly turned on likely blinding oncoming traffic and traffic passing me while I scrampled to turn them off so that I would not blind other drivers. These auto high beams seem poorly designed and poorly thought out there should be easier ways to disable them other than having to park and hold a lever down for like 40 seconds. Legitimately thought I was going to accidentally be responsible for someones death mine or traffic around me because my high beams were coming on unprompted.

Dec 2024 EXTERIOR LIGHTING Auto Dimming Headlights are so sensitive that they essential do not work. Auto dimming is a safety feature, but it puts the driver at risk by shutting the high beams off in situations they should be on to increase visability. The dealer says they are 'working as designed' but with further discussion, admits to them being 'useless'. The dealer used their diagnostic tool and says no error was found. The auto dimming headlights have never worked properly since time of purchase. We also have a 2022 Ridgeline that exhibits the same problem. We paid for the feature but it has never worked, even after reporting to the service department at the dealer.

Nov 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION I attempted to have this recall address with no remediation. I went to the Dealer 2 months ago and called Honda's recall line and was told that Honda is not equipped to repair the vehicle due to a parts shortage.

Nov 2024 BACK OVER PREVENTION The contact owns a 2024 Honda Ridgeline. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V321000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted. The dealer stated that the back-over prevention camera had to fail before the recall remedy could be provided. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Nov 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE 4 times since I owned the truck it has stalled at traffic lights. The dashboard tells me there is an issue and tells me go in park. Then put my foot on the brake and start it normally. It does not restart. After 20 clicks twice it restarted only after I exited the vehicle, locked the door and reentered the vehicle. One time I was left at the light for an hour waiting for a tow truck. A police office tried to start it, and he put his foot on the gas. Eventually it started. The truck has less than 1,500 miles on it. The dealerships that have seen car did not find an error code so there is nothing they can do at this time. I took a video today when it happened for the 4th time to see if it helps. I saw online a similar problem with the Pilot from 2020-2022.

Oct 2024 SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The issues with this vehicle and the ongoing problems related to the Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking have previously been reported to you under complaint number 11619917. With additional events, the vehicle has again been taken back to the dealer and the issues reported to American Honda. The mechanical conditions still exist. The dealer has driven the vehicle and now says that the known conditions are normal? They also blame the conditions on the roads being driven (County and State Highways)? How can a vehicle manufacturer be allowed to sell vehicles with known safety defects? By itself, that is outrageous. I am uploading the dealer repair invoice for the most recent events. Can someone take this seriously and do something before there is an accident and someone is either hurt or killed?

Oct 2024 EXTERIOR LIGHTING The auto highbeam system has an inherent safety issue. When active, it may turn on the highbeams automatically when there are oncoming close vehicles, thus blinding the oncoming drivers with the potential of causing an accident. The system also may not even activate the highbeam lights when there is no oncoming vehicles and the road is dark. I have great safety concerns regarding this system. I had a 2017 Honda Ridgeline black edition that had the auto highbeam functionality. That system worked perfectly. But sometime between then and my current 2024 edition, they have changed the technology in the system to cause it to be a safety hazard. This needs to be a recall so that Honda will install a fix.

Oct 2024 STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE While traveling at the posted speed, the automatic emergency braking system applied the brakes without any vehicle in front of us. The speed limit on this particular road is 50 miles per hour. The braking was so sudden and applied with force that the vehicles traveling behind us had to apply their brakes to avoid a collision with us. This has happened before, but never with such force. The date I have given below is the most recent event. The issues have been reported to the dealer without resolution.

Aug 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE My collision brake system goes off all the time at vehicles coming the opposite way on the road on two lane roads with no median strip I've taken to the dealership but they actually made it worse took back twice then contacted corporate Honda and they sent a tech. Out to this dealership he said alignment was off so they did that but it's still the same sometimes it will go off 3 times in a couple miles now rep says it's with in their guidelines and they are not going to do anything me and my wife don't want this truck if they won't repair

Aug 2024 POWER TRAIN Ocean Honda of Hanover had leased me this vehicle with a safety recall not repaired.I drove the car up to Washington Mountain in NH with my family without knowing the vehicle had a safety recall. Approximately 8 days after the day of I leased the vehicle the seller contacted me asking to take the vehicle back to the dealership to repair a safety recall , I immediately went to the dealership and left the vehicle there they told me to come back on next day and I did but they returned the car back to me without repair and said if I have any problems to contact them I asked them if it have been fixed and he said he didn’t change anything and told I could have the vehicle back it was fine ,they called me again on 08/13/24 asking for take the vehicle back to the dealership again to repair the safety recall and I told them they can come get the vehicle at my address I’m very scared to drive it again now that I know there is a safety issue and also I didn’t have anyone to drive me back I also had missed work on first time that I had left the vehicle there for supposed repair on 08/08/24. They didn’t pickup the vehicle on 08/17/24 I called and said they are going to contact me on Monday(08/19/2024) .They contact me on Monday(08/19/24)asking for me leave the car there but as I asked to talk to the manager he offered me a rental car I accepted because I needed a truck to work but they sent one guy with a SUV and I refused the rental but I told them they could take the truck to repair the recall but they didn’t get it , I called them on Wednesday (08/20/24) to see if I can get my money back and return the vehicle since the vehicle was under recall before the lease I also found the Inspection on the gloves compartment and the final inspection is not completed .I haven’t drive the vehicle since I found out about the safety recall and I’m feeling very anxious about it for the fact I drove in the highest mountain of New England (Mount Washington-NH)with my 2 kids in the car .

Aug 2024 POWER TRAIN The vehicle went into neutral while I was driving at 40 mph. It then started showing errors on the gauge cluster. It said something about do not drive vehicle, transmission issue, see dealer. I took it to the dealer and all they did was clear the codes and give it back to me. I'm not comfortable with this since I was stopped in the middle of traffic on a 5 lane road at rush hour. It was very unsafe and I'm afraid it may happen again.

Jul 2024 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM In the first month of owning my Honda Ridgeline (bought new with 5 miles on the odometer), I received TWO check engine light warnings for the same thing: "Emission system problem. Power may be reduced. See your dealer." Dealer says the problem is a part that does not shut and seal the fuel filler part, after refueling with regular gas. I brought it in after the 1st warning, and the check engine light was "fixed" however, soon after, it came on again. So I brought it in a second time, today. It was not fixed today. I was told a part is being delivered and after the part comes in, I will get a phone call to schedule a time for it to be installed. I am concerned that I may get into an accident if the power is suddenly and unexpectedly reduced while I drive. The 1st incidence was around 6-19-24 and the second was on 6-26-24. The second incident happened at around 463 miles.

May 2024 BACK OVER PREVENTION The contact recently purchased a 2024 Honda Ridgeline. The contact was informed by the dealer that the vehicle could not be delivered to due to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V321000 (Back Over Prevention) not being performed. The contact was informed that the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.
