Oct 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER My Honda Civic's software for Apple CarPlay does not have an available update by Honda Corporation to allow functionality to use CarPlay Focus Driving settings to prevent receiving audio phone calls and ringing via the infotainment system speakers while driving and using apps such as Waze for navigation and/or iHeart radio for music. My safety while driving and the safety of others while I am driving is put at risk because while I am driving and using an app for music and/or navigation, my Honda Civic's infotainment system speakers may ring when my Apple iPhone receives a phone call from anyone, and this distracts my driving and may be unsafe. My Apple iPhone 14 has CarPlay Focus Driving software to allow me to prevent incoming phone calls while driving and connected to car Bluetooth or CarPlay. However, I cannot use this Focus Driving feature with my Honda Civic because Honda Corporation has not updated my Civic's infotainment system software to interface with my Apple iPhone 14 Focus Driving feature. I met my Honda dealership's service department staff, and they confirmed that there is no recall for my Honda Civic. They confirmed and showed me on my Civic's backup camera screen settings for Driving Focus that "Incoming calls will not be silenced while using CarPlay." I will upload this image/picture from my backup camera screen as a file for this discussion. The need for Honda Corporation to update their car infotainment system software to allow safety while driving is not unique to my 2024 Honda Civic.

Sep 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Start stop feature creates a pause when taking off, has cause me to be bumped in the rear twice. Feature come on automatically when starting the car .it should be off unless wanted , the switch does not always turn system off when pressing. This is an asinine way of designing a function that creates an unneeded hazard. It should be in off at start and option to use. Apparently someone did not look at the potential hazards this could cause. Please contact me at [XXX] to discuss [XXX] . An answer would be appreciated I'm guessing I'm not the only one that has experienced this issue, INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Aug 2024 STEERING,LANE DEPARTURE Please help. I have purchased my 2024 Honda Civic last year in 2023. I’ve had my Honda Civic for a year now. I recently noticed my steering wheel “sticky” as some other 2022-2024 Honda Civic owners have reported and stated on all media’s after researching. This mainly occurs to me after the car has warmed up and or its at its normal temperatures and driving. The steering wheel can feel some “fight” even at 2 degree adjustment while driving. I feel unsafe to drive my car. I have read and discovered some have recalls for this matter of steering rack problems. Honda contacted me weeks after purchasing my Honda Civic and scheduled me to bring in my Honda to have it checked for the recall and apparently my Honda does not have a recall. I have called Honda today, 8/26/2024, and I explained what I am experiencing with my steering and they said due to my car being over 36k miles it’s no longer under warranty even though this problem seems to be more of a recall type and should not require to be under warranty. Perhaps this recall has not been called for yet or discovered and I am reaching out to get help. As I am concerned and I am worried about my safety the safety for others as I am driver and transport passengers on daily basis as part of my job. Please once again help with my case and please investigate. As part of researching I did discover a rough cost of the steering rack and it is expensive and it was just for the part not including labor. This is unsafe and unfair. I hope whoever reads my description can understand my situation and help me. I am willing to cooperate with any information needed for this investigation as I believe it to be a future recall especially since the car has not had any accidents nor damages whatsoever. Please help my case.

Jul 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was driving on an interstate highway in upstate NY, just past dusk, when my 2024 Honda Civic attempted to come to a rapid stop without my input. My car decelerated violently, dropped about 20 mph in speed, then immediately accelerated back to the speed set on my cruise control. I did have the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist engaged when this happened. Interestingly, there was not another car around me nor coming my way in the opposite lanes and the weather was 72 degrees and overcast. This event scared the hell out of me and I was lucky that no other vehicle was close behind in my lane at the time!

Jul 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER Vehicle dashboard where speedometer is displayed went completely black while driving. The AC stopped blowing cold air and red flashing warning light came on with the word brake. I didn’t not lose control of the vehicle and was able to get home safely by driving slowly avoiding traffic around me. Signal lights nor hazard lights worked either. The car would not turn off unless I pressed the brake at the same time with the ignition button several times. The hatchback would not open either prior to getting it towed directly to the nearest Honda dealership for inspection and repair.

Jul 2024 TIRES The contact owns a 2024 Honda Civic equipped with Continental Tires, Tire Line: ProContact TX, Tire Size: 215/50/R17, DOT Number: [XXX] . While the contact's daughter was outside of the vehicle, she discovered a large bubble on the front driver’s side tire. The contact was notified of the failure and instructed her daughter to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the tire was replaced with the spare tire. The contact initially notified the tire manufacturer about the failure and was informed that the failure might be related to a vehicle defect and referred the contact to a Honda dealer. The dealer was notified of the failure and declined responsibility for the failure. The manufacturer was called and referred the contact to an independent tire dealer that specializes in servicing Continental tires. The independent mechanic worked with the Continental manufacturer and offered the contact a replacement tire at 50% off. The tire was replaced. The tire and vehicle failure mileage were unknown. Jun 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Driver door window shattered while car was parked. No one was in the car when it happened, no injuries. Possibly heat related. Window was bowed out. Have multiple pictures of damage. Insurance says they will cover it. The dealer says not covered under car warranty. Seems to be a manufacturing defect if heat stress (temperature differential) can make a window burst.

Jun 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE braking system warnings and possibility of brake failure warning. Dealership thought it was sensor issue and replaced sensors but it happened again and I’m also experiencing a phenomenon referred to as “phantom braking” as my car will stop as if an object is directly in front of me while I’m driving, which has happened a few times on the interstate now and I’m afraid to drive. This is a serious safety risk for all involved.

Apr 2024 LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) was traveling on interstate highway in moderate traffic in right lane while traveling around a slight curve traveling at 60 mph. Vehicle 2 traveling in left lane merged to right lane with approximately 2 car lanes of spacing in from of vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle). I lifted off accelerate in vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) to slow down and Honda Sensing Collison Mitigation Braking System abruptly apply very hard braking resulting in vehicle 1(complaint vehicle) nosing driving and straightened the steering on the curve. The braking and steering straightening resulted in vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) crossing the lane line into the left lane by approximately 2 feet before the vehicle could be recovered and a speed reduction by 15-20 MPH. No vehicles were in left lane next to vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) at the time of incident or behind vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) to have resulted in a collusion. If vehicles were either behind or in the lane at the time of the incident the Honda Sensing Collison Mitigation Braking System actions would have directly resulted in a collision from its intervention. Contacted Honda and reported incident and inquired how to disable the system permanently and was told the Honda representative that they would pass along the information to "engineering" and the system can only be disabled for each drive and would turn on each time the ignition cycled. I then inquired if anybody would be reaching out to correct the issue and was informed that nobody would reaching out to me about the issue. I expressed the safety issues and was informed other than notifying engineering nothing would be addressed for me.

Apr 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE We were driving to northern Minnesota on the freeway. There were no vehicles in front of mine in either lane. The automatic braking system engaged and the vehicle almost came to a stop on the freeway before it disengaged. Approximately 1 hour later it happened again. If there had been a vehicle behind us in either instance there would have been a serious problem. Today pulling into the garage the same thing happened as I was halfway to parking. I am going to disable the feature.

Apr 2024 STEERING While driving down the road at speeds of 30mph or more, the steering wheel feels like it is sticking. It makes it noticeably harder to turn the steering wheel at speeds to make minor adjustments to stay in the lane. I took it to Honda and we are currently waiting on a new steering rack to come in to try and fix the problem. When taking it to 2 different dealers, they were both able to confirm the issue. There were no warnings or lights on the dash when the problem first occurred.
