Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Dec 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER My 2023 Ram 1500 TRX has recurring safety-related failures of the infotainment system affecting both Uconnect 5 (12” screen) and earlier Uconnect 4 units. These issues are widespread in 2021–2024 Ram TRX and Ram 1500 models and began or worsened after forced over-the-air updates. The primary defect is black-screen failures while driving. When the screen goes black or freezes, the truck loses all functions controlled through the display, including HVAC/defrost, backup camera, vehicle settings, seat controls, and performance gauges. This creates an immediate safety hazard: I cannot adjust climate/defrost, cannot see the required rear-view camera when shifting to reverse, and cannot access key vehicle information. Owners across multiple years consistently report: • Black screens, freezes, and reboots • Loss of HVAC control and dual-zone functions • Backup camera not displaying • Vehicle/Apps tabs failing to open • Uconnect error messages • Smaller, harder-to-read gauges after updates • Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto failures • No option to decline or roll back OTA updates These failures distract the driver, remove access to federally required equipment (rear camera), and eliminate visibility and climate controls that directly affect safe operation. The system becomes unpredictable and unstable despite the vehicle being in motion. My vehicle experiences the same issues, including: black screen while driving, loss of HVAC, camera not available, system rebooting, etc. Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 4 and Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures. For the date this occurred, I'll list the approximate date when this first began happening; however, this happens several times per week and sometimes daily.

Dec 2025 FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The contact owns a 2023 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing an inaccurate fuel gauge reading. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the fuel gauge displayed that the fuel mileage was 18, but the vehicle suddenly lost motive power, prompting the contact to pull over to the side of the road. The contact parked the vehicle and took an Uber to his destination. The contact later returned and added fuel to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on three occasions. The dealer reset the computer, and the module K1 fuel pump leveling unit was replaced, and the instrument cluster was reprogrammed as per TSB Number: 08-234-24; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,360.

Dec 2025 WHEELS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE The vehicle was sold with oversized 35-inch tires but was never recalibrated for speedometer, odometer, or tire pressure monitoring systems. The vehicle’s speedometer reads approximately 7 mph slower than actual speed, making the odometer inaccurate as well. This affects braking, ABS, traction control, and engine timing. The door placard still lists the original 265/70R17 tires, meaning the vehicle no longer meets the safety certification indicated by the label. The dealership did not disclose these modifications. I have had two tire failures due to rubbing and unsafe fitment.

Nov 2025 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING The contact owns a 2023 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed a coolant odor coming from the vehicle. Additionally, the contact noticed a puddle of condensation underneath the front end of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle drove normally and there were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the radiator was cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred 6 months later. The vehicle was then taken to the same dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the new radiator had cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that a friend who was a mechanic also inspected the vehicle and stated that the radiator needed to be replaced due to a crack. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

Nov 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM On approximately September 2024, after a few months of purchasing my vehicle new, the manufacturer installed battery died. This required me to jump it every time I needed to start it over the course of a week. A local dealership replaced it under warranty, though I noticed when I was driving the parasitic drain on the battery would continue. This repair was done through the Berlin City CDJR dealership located in Gorham, New Hampshire. I suspect if I drove long enough, critical systems would not function correctly while driving due to the battery dying. Today, I noticed the same issue arising. The battery died again, presumably from the same parasitic drain, and voltage was sitting around 10 amps. I would approximate that, over the past six months, the hybrid system has not been functioning as normal when I first purchased the vehicle. The trucks display notes why/when auto/start stop doesnt work. Over the past few months it displays that the battery is charging so auto/stop start is disabled, no matter how far/long I drive. It’s concerning to think what may happen if the hybrid system connected to the truck dies. The first time the regular battery died the display noted low voltage. For this most recent incident, it did not.

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The electrical and battery system on my 2023 Ram 1500 Big Horn has repeatedly malfunctioned, causing a severe parasitic battery drain that leaves the vehicle completely inoperable. The problem began in Fall 2024 and has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer multiple times. Despite numerous repair attempts, the underlying issue has not been resolved. The truck has been at the dealership continuously since October 2024, and technicians have been unable to determine or fix the root cause. The vehicle experiences total battery failure within hours or days of sitting idle, even after multiple new batteries and modules were installed. The faulty electrical component/system is available for inspection at the dealership. This ongoing electrical drain presents a serious safety risk, as the truck can lose all power unpredictably, preventing it from starting or responding to electronic controls. Before complete failure, the truck would display warning lights, low-voltage messages, and random electrical faults, including systems shutting off unexpectedly. The issue has been inspected and documented by the dealership under an open case with Ram Customer Care, yet no resolution has been achieved. I have been without my vehicle for nearly five months, and the same problem has persisted for almost a year.

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I have taken my truck in to the dealership twice already for the same issue and they are telling me they cannot find the issue. My truck would not start, so I replaced the battery. Noticed that the voltage would drop after driving it about 20 miles or so. Normal range is 13.5V. Starting the truck, it starts out at 13.5V but after about 20 miles or so, the voltage would drop to 12.5V. Dealership could not find out why. Engine light is not on but the voltage drops every single time I drive. I bought it with 11 miles on it in June of 2023 and didn't have this issue until September of 2025. The truck only had about 37,400 miles on it when it started messing up. I am scared/worried that the truck will just stop while driving. I have read many forums and stories about many others are having this issue too. The Motor Generator Unit (MGU) malfunctioning. There are recalls for 2019-2022 MGU but not for 2023 or later.

Oct 2025 STEERING The contact owns a 2023 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while either starting the vehicle, driving, or parking, the steering wheel was loose and then became tightened. Additionally, there was a burning odor near the front of the vehicle while driving 25 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the steering rack had failed, and the steering rack lubricant had leaked out, resulting in the burning odor. The dealer replaced the steering rack, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to a second dealer, Nielsen Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of East Hanover (175 NJ-10, East Hanover, NJ 07936), who replaced the steering shaft and column, as well as the steering rack twice; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Sep 2025 SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE In August of this year while the truck was moving, it just shut off and the parking brake was engaged. I brought it to the dealer and they checked the truck through the computer. They could not find any issues. Just this past Saturday 9/27/2025 while i was backing up into a parking space, the vehicle shut down again in gear and the parking brake was again engaged. I call the Service dept at Gainesville Dodge in Florida and have another appt for a week from tomorrow. The first occurrence was 8/2026 I called another dealership in Starke Florida and spoke to their service dept. They informed me they have had the same issue with other Ram trucks but cannot find the cause. This unexpected shutting down is extremely dangerious! I searched the internet and found this issue is not uncommon. There were many reports of the same issue happening to other owners. Shutting down on a major highway can cause a major accident when this occurs. This needs to be looked into by your agency. Thank you.

Sep 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I have been trying to get the turn signal recall fixed on my truck for the past year. After I make a left turn, the turn signal only turns off about 1/2 of the time. The first 4 times I spoke to them both in person and over the phone, they said they were waiting on the part. When I spoke to them last week, the parts guy said he had the part, but I would have to pay for it since the system showed the recall had been fixed. No one has ever even worked on the turn signal, other than to test it, which was at the end of 2024.

Sep 2025 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I bought a 2023 Ram 1500 brand new off the lot and the vehicle is only less than 3 years old. I was hoping the with me buying a brand new Ram that I would not have a major issue such as the fuel pump failing which caused me to pay $1809.64 out of pocket cost on a practically new vehicle. The fuel pump and the control module were both faulty with the dealer findings. With only 1000 miles over warranty, I think that this does not make since for such a major issue with a practically new vehicle that is not cover under the powertrain warranty. The vehicle has been taken in for regular maintenance. I would appreciate a refund of the amount paid to cover my loss

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and towing a trailer, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle to the shoulder of the road and inspected the vehicle. While inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that the tailgate had independently unlatched. The contact stated that the tailgate had fallen onto the crank. The contact stated that there were damages to the tailgate and the paint due to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under recall or special programs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 22,550.

Aug 2025 SERVICE BRAKES Factory trailer brake controller does not work as it should. Trailer brake controller has 4 settings in owners manual they are as follows: Heavy over electric, Lite over electric, heavy over hydraulic, lite over hydraulic. My truck only has lite over electric and does not save the trailer as it should in the radio. The radio, BCM and Trailer brake control module has been replaced by Mopar under warranty to see if this fixes the problem. It has not fixed the problem. The dealership has checked all of wiring to see if this is a problem. it has not been to the dealer 8 times still has an open ticket on it. My truck is capable of carrying a load of 10,650 lbs. and needs the heavy tow brake system. I do not understand why Mopar cannot fix this issue. Dealership said that they are not going to do any more work to the vehicle for me to go get a second opinion on this problem.
