Mar 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE The 2023 Nissan Rogue we have as a lease with 9,000 miles on it. 10 minutes after driving it and going on the highway with in 1 minutes the engine abruptly started knocking and stuttering and immediate loss of motive power. Fortunately the car was in the left most lane and an exist was able to enter the exit ramp but the vehicle started sputtering and stalled and would not restart. Restart attempts resulted in engine stuttering and it the engine shutting off. We think this is the exact symptoms as described in PE23023 with these Nissan engine failures. Reporting since this should be recalled for safty and because we had a 3 year old child in the card and we fear that this could have caused risk of death by loss of motive power on the highway and if the car was in the fast or middle lanes could have resulted very high risk situation of a car with no power stuck on the highway in rush hour. I'm thankful my family is OK but this failure was a close call that could have caused a chain of accidents on the highway with possible loss of life. There were no warning indications displayed by the before the incident occurred, it was extremely sudden. After car stalled attempts to restart showed maintenance required and what appear to have been several unclear messages. battery charge was checked by tow truck and attempts to start with assisted power from additional battery made no change, the engine could not remain running it turned over and quickly sputtered and stalled and failed. The car is now at the dealership being looked at but we wanted to report this due to the severity of the issue and how it occurred, especially after reading that Nissan is aware of this particular issue as described in PE23023. I would recommend a recall as this is not a safe vehicle. Out family will no longer use this car ever again for our safety and the safety of our young child.

Feb 2024 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Purchased a 2023 Nissan Rogue in May 2023 with less than 10 miles on it. Shortly after purchase myself and my family noticed the smell of gas fumes in the cabin, which I initially ignored. I took the car back to the dealership in August 2023 at 4,700 miles due to the noxious fumes/smell. The car’s PCV valve was replaced for the first time. I again took the vehicle into the dealership in December 2023 at 12,900 miles due to the extremely strong smell of gas fumes coming into the cabin but also radiating throughout my entire garage. These fumes burn my eyes, throat, make me nauseous, and cause headaches. My heated garage has an open flame heater and I became worried that the potentially uncombusted gas products leaking into the air could cause an explosion or fire. The dealership replaced my PCV hose a second time, but this did not solve the issue. I returned to dealership in February 2024 at 15,000 miles for persistent gas fumes in the cabin and radiating throughout my garage. There was nothing wrong with my PCV hose and the PCV hoses were on “back order”. Nothing was done to my car other than “wash off the engine bay to try to get rid of the smell”. Nissan was unable to resolve the issue or produce any viable solutions, they returned my car to me the next day and after driving it home from work and parking it in my garage, the noxious gas/odor was still strongly present and I was told by family that my clothes smell like gasoline/oil fumes. I am afraid for my health and safety while driving this vehicle. I do not feel that Nissan has adequately addressed this issue and continues to ignore it without producing viable solutions. It appears to me that there is likely a defect in the engineering/manufacturing of this vehicle and intrinsic faults within the engine and its components. I believe that if action is not taken by Nissan or governmental regulatory bodies, consumers will experience serious health and safety consequences.

Feb 2024 VISIBILITY The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rouge. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the rear windshield exploded. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was diagnosed by a Safelite Auto Glass technician, who observed two holes in the windshield where the defroster connections were on the windshield. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,800.

Feb 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Bought a new 2023 Nissan Rogue last week with 8 miles on it. Drove the vehicle on a 12 hour trip. Filled up the gas tank and gasoline smells were terrible inside the vehicle. Went on the internet to research this and found there are many who have this problem and Nissan is doing NOTHING to fix it. To make matters worse, it appears that John Deery Motors, Cedar Falls, Iowa just committed "Consumer Fraud"..........they knew that this problem existed and they continue to sell the vehicles WITHOUT telling the consumer.

Feb 2024 ENGINE This has been a big safety issue for my wife and 10 month old daughter. Randomly while driving on highway or in residential roads, our 2023 nissan rogue will start revving hard. The rpm shoots up to around 5000 and the engine starts to lose power resulting in rapid de-acceleration. As of recent, my wife would have to restart the car to go back to normal functioning mode. This also almost caused her accidents on multiple occasions. We contacted Nissan, opened a case, and they refused to repurchase it or replace it. We are stuck with this car hoping nothing bad happens.

Feb 2024 ENGINE I was driving on the interstate with heavy traffic with family in the car. The car engine suddenly lost power and suddenly started making a metal on metal banging noise. The check engine light didn't come on for a few minutes after but it was obvious something was wrong. We were able to get over to the side of the road a few feet out of traffic. We had it towed to the Nissan dealer. We were told it was an issue with the engine block/cylinder #2 failed. This is a 2023 3 cylinder Rogue that has been maintained properly. There was no warning at all. The engine light did not come on until well after the engine failed. We were told an "Nissan Investigator" has to come inspect our car??

Feb 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The car often emits a strong gasoline odor. When I enter my garage, and the doors are closed, I often smell a strong odor of gas coming from the car. On occasion I have turned on the fan for the heater and I get the odor of gasoline inside the cabin of the car. There have been no visible leaks that I can see but I am very concerned about breathing these fumes and about the risk of a fire. This issue has been going on for at least two months. I called the dealer and they advised they are aware of an issue but stated there are no recalls and nothing they can do at this time.

Feb 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Since purchasing the vehicle Dec. 26 2023 there have been a handful of times that the forward collision light comes on and blinks. About the 4th or 5th time this happened, the vehicle also applied the brakes. Slowing me from about 60 mph to about 40 mph rather quickly. Luckily at the time of night this happened there was no traffic around me. It took me a couple of seconds to realize what had happened and to push on the accelerator to regain speed. While the light is blinking my cruise control is disabled. I'm not really sure what else may or may not be disabled but a car that brakes at will scares the hell out of me. I won't let anyone else drive it and if I see other Nissans on the road I stay away from them. I have the 1st of what I feel will be many repair appointments scheduled for Friday February 9th.

Feb 2024 ENGINE Nissan installed plastic oil plugs which when reinstalled can fail. This despite the fact the entire oil pan is aluminum. This can occur after the 2 or 3rd oil change causing the car to lose the plug, overheat due to oil loss or have to be towed because plug falls out or becomes easily stripped. Many place such as Jiffy Lube will refuse to service the cars because they may require a tow to the dealer.

Feb 2024 POWER TRAIN The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that upon shifting the vehicle into park and releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle automatically shifted out of park, back into drive, and lunged forward. As a result, the vehicle lurched through the garage wall and into the interior of the home, causing significant damages. The air bags did not deploy. Medical attention was not required. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure however, testing was ongoing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 1,500.

Jan 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Two repairs unsuccessful’ Warnings and codes of malfunctioning Brakes applied for no reason while I was driving. There was nothing blocking the sensor. No bad weather. No pedestrians. No traffic. They applied. The car stopped wouldn’t move. I received a malfunctioning warning. It went into team Nissan 12/23 ( where it was purchased new 12/23) .They said it was repaired at that first visit for it. Malfunction warnings started again. It was brought back to team Nissan where they told me it’s malfunctioning, computer read codes for malfunction auto brake feature. Nissan service said sensor needs to be replaced but the part is backordered with NO eta. Said a month to a year or more. Sent me on my way. My children ride in this vehicle. I was told they won’t disconnect it because it’s a “safety feature” even if it’s braking on its own for no reason. They didn’t care that there are kids in the vehicle. Nissans consumer affairs is also little help! I’ve told them endless times our safety is at risk, myself annd my two children, and they don’t care. They applied for a buy back and said I’ll have to wait a month to hear but it’s not a guarantee and likely won’t happen and I don’t have to drive it if I don’t want to. What should I do for a vehicle? This is a new vehicle and it’s NOT SAFE! It’s applied the brakes while I’m driving.

Jan 2024 POWER TRAIN The contact owns a 2023 Nisan Rouge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to coast to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to be restarted. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that there was a voltage spike in the electrical system, resulting in the vehicle entering LIMP Mode. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Several months later, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle suddenly shifted out of drive and into low 1st gear, and lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway and restart the vehicle, after which the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The contact stated that the failure became a regular failure. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. Jan 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM When the heat is turned on there’s a strong gas/smoke odor that fills the cabin and it’s very irritating. It irritates my throat and eyes and also I feel light headed if I drive for a long period of time. I have a 9 month old baby that I take to the daycare and this is very concerning to me. I have heard this problem is common among 2021 and newer Nissan rogues.

Jan 2024 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM When car is sitting idle I can smell gas inside the car. Took car to dealership and was told there was a whole in a hose and they would replace the hose. Hose has been replaced and fumes still come into car when idle. The cars was bought new with 117 miles on it. It now has 5072 miles on it. I have been contacting them for the last two months as it took about three weeks for the hose to come in. When I discussed with the dealership I could still smell gas I was told they have had this issue with several of these cars but the hose usually fixes the problem. The smell is so bad that it now makes me sick to my stomach. I tell them I here a rattle in the engine that was not there before. They say the rattle is no more than any other car on the lot. They have not offered to give me something to drive while they figure out the problem. But at this point I feel it is dangerous for me to be driving it. Even just the time sitting at a stop like I can smell fumes.

Jan 2024 ENGINE My car was purchased in June 2023 and currently has 2,785 miles. I turned my car on and the engine light came on. As I was driving, it was hard to accelerate and my car was not driving properly. I received an email from Nissan Connect stating: Hi [XXX] , Your Rogue's engine may have an emission control system malfunction. If the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is blinking, you may have a misfire or other component malfunction. To reduce or avoid emission control system damage: Do not drive at speeds above 45 MPH (72 km/h). Avoid hard acceleration or deceleration. Avoid steep uphill grades. If possible, reduce the amount of cargo being hauled or towed. I took my car to the Nissan dealer, and they said the engine failed. They don’t know how long it will take to repair. Jan 2024 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE My New 2023 Nissan Rogue encountered a warning "Engine Malfunction Power reduced Service Now" after the car was driven 4600 miles in July 28th 2023. The car did not accelerate higher than 15 miles/ hr with the warning and it was difficult to change lanes while driving the vehicle to Nissan Service at Jeff Wyler Nissan, Eastgate, Ohio - 45103. The warning light went off after the car was restarted a couple of times and the technicians at Nissan service did not find any issue. The issue again resurfaced in 02 Dec 2023, and the car was not running higher than 15 miles/hr. The warning went off after the car was restarted a couple of times. Jeff Wyler Nissan Service again did not found any issue upon inspection. Reached out to Nissan Motors Customer Service and they did'nt give any solution and asked me to report the issue to the dealer if the issue resurfaces again. My family of 3 have a single car and I feel unsafe to drive this car with a 22 month old infant. When the issue occurs it becomes very risky and unsafe to even change lanes as the car does not move more than 15 miles an hour. Both the times when this issue occurred, huge traffic jam is caused on the road, at the back of my car since the car doe not accelerate and I am subjected to frequent honking. I feel afraid if this incident happens in the Interstate highway then this can cause a life risk for me and my family.
