The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V116000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, a message indicating that the clutch was overheating was displayed. The contact parked and allowed the vehicle to cool down. | Jul 2023 | ENGINE | I was driving down the highway around 60 miles an hour and the engine shut off. There was a flashing light on the dash telling me to safely put the car in Park. I had no acceleration and had to get across three lanes coasting until I could safely stop. A light also flashed showing a picture of the plug-in and said something about lack of performance. I cannot remember the exact wording. Once I got to the side of the road, I put the car in park and turned the car off, then turned it back on and was able to drive away. I did notice when I got to the side of the road that the D was flashing on my gearshift. i’ve called the dealership and I’ll be taking it in tomorrow, but they advised they haven’t had this situation before. But someone advise me about a recall on 2021 through 2023 4 xe’s but my vin number isn’t part of the recall. This happened during rush-hour traffic and I had my five year old son in the car. Needless to say we were both very scared. I am nervous to even drive it now. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE CLUTCH WAS ISSUED ON 3/6/23, AS OF TODAY 7/5/23 IT HAS NOT BEEN REMEDIED LEAVING ME AND MY FAMILY IN DANGER OF A VEHICLE FIRE | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | We noticed on 6/24/2023 a small crack and few other minor cracks and a paint chip appeared out of nowhere on the fiber-glass/composite hard roof top at the driver side rear edge above the gas tank of my Jeep Wrangler 2023 that I bought from your dealership. My vehicle details are as follows: Make: Jeep Model Wrangler Sahara 4X4e Year: 2023 Color: White VIN #: [XXX] Purchase Date: 05-14-2023 Condition: Brand New I have consulted with AAA insurance and the “Classic Collision of Chatsworth” and Platinum Plus Warranty Plan and the insurance services and they all say that this particular crack and paint chip on the vehicle is not from any impact but mainly due to the manufacturing defect where the fiberglass is uneven (or air bubble in it) and defective, screws tightened too much and also clearly has tool marks and signs of excessive use of force that caused a big crack on the edge from inside and that is now propagating and spreading and showing paint chip and cracks on the outside of the removable rooftop/camper above the gas tank. This is the first time I opened the back trunk and saw this. Filed a manufacturer warranty claim at the dealership on 6/26/2023. Jeep denied the claim. I find this situation unacceptable as the fiberglass hard-top is cracking and falling apart and the crack is widening as we drive the vehicle. I need help as both the dealership and the manufacturer are not fixing the manufacturing defect and are using delaying tactics. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | I was driving on the highway and as the electric engine ran out of power (it is a plug-in hybrid), the car failed to switch to the gasoline engine. There were warning lights that flashed and the "D" on the gear shifter was flashing. Power steering still worked, but could not accelerate. I was in the far right lane and was able to coast into the breakdown lane where I turned the car off, waited a few second and turned it back on and it was running on the gas engine. I took it to the dealer the next day and they said they tried to recreate it, but the electric engine had not been drained, so I don't believe they had. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Clutch getting hot driving. Smells really bad. Clutch pedal does not engage clutch Transmission is noisy! Jeep wants to put the same part back in it that’s under the recall How can they install a part that is known to fail and cause major damage to other drivers and can cause fire! Please advise how to handle | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | STEERING,PARKING BRAKE,SERVICE BRAKES | The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel locked, causing him to momentarily lose control of the vehicle. Upon attempting to bring the vehicle to a stop, the contact stated that the brake pedal was stuck in its resting position, prompting him to pull the parking brake, which also failed to bring the vehicle to a stop. As a result, the contact stated that he collided with the vehicle ahead. An unknown warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel prior to the failure being experienced. The air bags did deploy. A police report was filed, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and later towed to the dealer, who declined to diagnose the vehicle due to the body damage. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 10,000. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | 10,000 |
| Jun 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | On June 17 I was driving on the highway in Tupelo,MS with my sister and three children. I was going about 80 mph when the entire engine shut down spontaneously. The dash lights said plug into a power outlet. I was driving in hybrid mode with a half tank of gas. I briefly lost control of the car because it was such a powerful jolt when it shut down. I was able to pull over to shoulder of the highway, completely terrified and shifted the jeep into park. The warning lights were telling me to put in park and press the start button. I followed the instructions and the jeep engine started and the warning lights turned off. I have contacted Chrysler to file a complaint as well as the dealership. I am afraid the drive my vehicle on the highway for fear of having a major accident | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | STEERING | The power steering pump squeaks and squeals at low speeds when turning the vehicle. Potential for power steering failure resulting in loss of control. | Jun 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Clutch is getting hot Warning screens says to stop using clutch. It’s a manual transmission can’t really do that and drive it. My jeep should have never been made. Special ordered in September 2022 cause I was told they had recall problem fixed in 23 models. I recieved jeep February 10 2023, March 2 the added 2023 models made up to February 2023 to recall and halted all manual transmission to be made. I feel like jeep lied to me and should have never taken my order even ! I traded a 2022 jeep wrangler that nothing was wrong with cause we wanted manual transmission and then find out the clutch’s are under recall. Dealer won’t do anything and jeep is not helping | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I am not sure if this is something that should be reported or not. My Jeep caught on fire in a drive thru on 5/11/23. It was only 3.5 months old and had 3,465 miles on it. I saw smoke coming from under the hood, then big black billowing smoke, when some guys got the hood open there were flames coming from behind the engine. They were able to put it out with a fire extinguisher but it caused alot of damage. It is available for inspection but I would need to know ASAP since it is at the dealer. About 3 minutes prior I was on the highway and this could have ended up so much worse as I had my two dogs with me as well. I contacted Jeep and they sent Engineering Analysis Associates/Bosch Automotive Service Solutions out to examine the car and they said "the information at hand would not permit us to associate the fire with a manufacturing or assembly error". No reason for the fire was given. Vehicle was inspected by insurance rep, investigator hired by the manufacturer. Police and fire dept were on scene at the time but did not create a report, just gave me an incident #. No warnings, messages or anything warned of the fire. I was able to drive it around to the front of the building to get it away from the building and other cars while their was smoke coming out of it. No warnings lights came on at all that I could see on the dash. I want to report this incase any other Wrangler 4XE's end up having the same issue. | Crash: No Fire: Yes | Unknown |

| Apr 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I received a recall notice on my Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe that the vehicle could suddenly shut down while in motion and needed a repair to prevent this from happening. I took it into the dealer to get the repair. At this point the vehicle had about 1200 miles on it. About a week AFTER getting the recall repair, the vehicle shut down without warning while I was driving it in all electric mode. I had to pull off the road, coast to a stop, and restart. I took it back to the dealer and they said that they had never heard of this happening AFTER getting the recall fixed. They said they didn’t know what to do to address it and would be reporting it to Jeep/Stellantis HQ in Detroit. The dealer is Jeff D’Ambrosio in Downingtown, PA. They said they would be back in touch once they heard from Detroit. This is extremely concerning and should be investigated. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | This vehicle was sold unlawfully to me, with an open recall on it. I purchased the brand-new vehicle from Sterling Heights Dodge, Chrysler Jeep New car dealership on 3/23/23. I got at open of business 9am left shortly after 11am with the new car.3/24 The vehicle engine lights came on, RPM's were revved high, engine was making loud noises. I called the dealership to make an appointment with service, I was told I can't bring my car there for service it had to go to Toledo Service Dept Grogan the closest to me. I was told to drive it as is it would be fine. On 3/26 my vehiicle abruptly stopped in heavy traffic with my 5 year old grandson in the backseat. Nothing worked, all power was dead. I have videos of this. I had to get out and motion for traffic to go around us, several time we were almost hit. The car was towed to Grogan they got it in for service 3/28. It was discovered by the service manager on 3/23 when I purchased my new car that New car had an open recall on it launched 3/14/23, and the dealership entered 3/23/23 as the repair date to bypass the system because you can't sell a brand new car with an open recall. The car is dangerous, it has been sitting in service since 3/28 until present date totally disabled without ability to be fixed by Grogan experts. The car was unlawfully sold, it was not disclosed there was a open recall or I would have opted to buy a different car. The car is a lemon they will not take the car back although it was sold unlawfully New Cars are forbidden to be sold with open recalls, and open recalls are to be disclosed prior to selling consumers cars. It is going to cause a very serious accident with injuries and potentially even fatality. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

I took it to the dealer they replaced the damper. But it happened again where I didn't have control but it didn't shake I just had to get off the freeway once I it stopped hydroplaning without it raining. | Mar 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | Was driving my one week old 2023 wrangler Sahara XE. Came to a stop. I started to drive and my engine completely shut down. Rendering me stuck in the middle of a roadway in traffic. The message on the dash read that there was a shut down on my vehicle and stated something about the transmission . There was no warning, the engine just shut down and put itself in park! I have three children.. this is scary . I contacted the dealer and dropped the vehicle off for the day Where it was inspected but no code was found as a fault. I see thousands of other jeeps (XE’s) have the same engine shut down issue. I presented these facts to the dealer. They dated that they can’t do anything without a code! Please help fix this. Too many are experiencing this very real and dangerous issue! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The front defrost fails to blow any air on the windshield directly in front of the drivers seat, causing visibility issues in winter weather or whenever the windshield fogs up. Even when explaining that a windshield that ices up is a safety issue when driving, they indicated there is nothing that can be done. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
