Apr 2024 SERVICE BRAKES Regenerative braking system is not in sync with traditional braking system at low speeds. Braking will studder and cause the truck to jump as it brakes to a stop.

Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER I took my 2023 Ford Maverick to the Dealership- Larry H Miller Lakewood CO. to get outstanding recalls address on [XXX]. Recalls handled were for Reprogram powertrain control module, turn signal outage detection failure, and software calibration update. I had no issues or concerns with my new vehicles performance or safety up to that point. [XXX] I was driving with my 2 children in the truck on the highway. Going 75 miles/hour uphill near the junction of [XXX] and [XXX] the truck suddenly started reporting errors on the digital display and dropped into limp mode leaving me stuck between 25-35 mph max speed on a busy highway causing a dangerous and unpredictable situation. I was able to exit the highway and navigate side roads to my dealership not far. They cleared the error and reset and were unable to replicate the issue at that time. On [XXX] the issue replicated. Heading south on [XXX] at 75 mph on the highway with my children in the truck, the power train module error once again appeared, check engine light came on and the digital display cycled through a series of errors the same as it had the prior time. Vehicle dropped to limp mode with a max speed of 35 on a busy highway. It once again caused a dangerous and hazardous experience trying to exit the highway at the next available opportunity. On the exit the truck shut off completely. Obstructing traffic. I was able to restart and navigate to a safe spot where I was able to contact Ford Roadside assist and get my truck towed to my same dealership once again. My truck has been at the dealership for 3 weeks now but on [XXX] they reported there were some new updates that might address the issue. They ran those updates and so far have been unable to replicate the problem. There is no solid confirmation from Ford that these updates will resolve the unsafe issue from happening again. We are uncertain at this point as to whether utilizing the vehicle will once again jeopardize our safety driving it. Apr 2024 SERVICE BRAKES The brake system in Hybrid model Ford Mavericks is unreliable and inconsistent in the way it applies the brakes at slow speeds, causing the driver to over or under apply the brakes and making the vehicle unsafe and unpredictable. My 2023 model braked normally for the first 6 months of ownership and then started to grab at slow speeds when attempting to use the brakes. When coming to a stop it will grab suddenly. It is extremely challenging to drive in stop and go traffic. Ford has issued a software fix, TSB23-2060, the second one they've issued. Neither fix has solved the issue. I often under apply the brakes in anticipation of the brakes grabbing and then have to overapply at the last moment to compensate. It really is unsafe and needs to be fixed. I hope the NHTSA can force the issue.

Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE Vehicle was traveling at 35 MPH. Vehicle shuddered and lost propulsion. Dash displayed following message: "Gear Selected will Engage at Low Speed" The "D" indicator on the shift knob was flashing. Vehicle was able to be pulled to side of road at very low speed. The following error messages were displayed in sequence: "Hill Start Assist Not Available" Pre-Collision Assist Not Available" "Service AdvanceTrac" Additionally, the following error light were iluminated: Check Engine Service Engine Soon Tranction Control Off 12 volt battery error Vehicle was turned off and restarted. The same error messages were displayed. Ford dealer was contacted to schedule a service visit. After a five minute wait, vehicle was able to start and drive, though performance was not as it had been. This morning, error lights remain on

Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES Received multiple error messages while driving including: -Pre-collision assist not available -Service engine soon -Powertrain malfunction/reduced power -Drive mode selection disabled. The “D” on the gear shift was also flashing. I slowed down and the parking brake automatically engaged while still driving, which caused the truck to stop hard. I was able to drive it to a parking lot, but it felt like it was in between gears. I turned the truck off in the parking lot for a few minutes, and then successfully started it and made it to the dealership with warning lights on. This likely would have caused a wreck if it happened on a busy road at higher speeds. It sounds like many Maverick owners are experiencing this same issue after the last recall. I don’t feel safe driving my vehicle until this is resolved.

Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE On the freeway all of sudden the “D” icon on the gear selected started flashing and then I started to receive multiple check engine light error messages one after the other, including: •Gear Selected Will Engage at Low Speed •Powertrain malfunction/reduced power •Pre-collision assist not available •Service engine soon warning •Service AdvanceTrac •Hill assist not available The truck then proceeded to switch into neutral all on its own and upon me trying to move the gear selector back into drive the car had zero power when applying the gas. I had to try to avoid traffic to get to the emergency lane with zero power just coasting to the side of the highway. Based on other Ford Maverick owners' testimony it seems Ford Maverick Hybrids getting a recall update to their Powertrain Control Module are then experiencing unpredictable and recurring instances of their truck suddenly having these check engine and random shutdown issues. It seems this has happened to dozens of owners, often at high speeds in the middle of the interstate. It begins with a sudden cascade of alerts (like 5 different malfunctions and systems shutting down). My Ford Maverick was towed and is currently being inspected at the Ford dealer.

Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Was driving my Maverick in a 35mph area an it felt like it had a 'sloppy" transmission shift and immediately lost power. It did not shut down, but with the gas engine running it had a top speed around 35mph and extremely slow acceleration, I had to use my 4way flashers. When it went into electric mode (hybrid) it would accelerate without any pressure on the throttle. Very dangerous. Check engine light, transmission light (wrench), and front collusion light all came on. When I got home and turned it off, then on again, it seemed to run like normal again, although the check engine light is still on.

Apr 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Leaving a parking spot, after about 75 ft of travel, wrench and engine indicator light lit up along with scrolling warnings instructing service engine soon, service adv trac, hill start assist not available and pre collision assist not available. Vehicle abruptly slammed on the brakes and would not release. After several attempts to resolve the stopping issue, I was able to engage drive and the vehicle allowed me to travel at 34 mph max. There was no throttle and I had to ride the brakes in order to regulate the 34 mph limit. This a unsafe condition that Ford needs to resolve asap.

Apr 2024 SERVICE BRAKES Brakes surge shortly after startup causing vehicle to lunge forward multiple times when at a stop. Has happened multiple times since getting vehicle new with less than 4500 miles. No warning lights has not been inspected by dealership but many other people have mentioned this happens to them frequently on Ford Maverick truck forums.

Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN On Friday, March 29, 2024 my Ford Maverick Hybrid lost power. When I started the engine it seemed sluggish but did reach about 40mph as I entered the I-215 freeway on ramp. Instrument panel warning lights did not appear until the problem began. By the time I came to the freeway itself the power was failing, and the truck slowed to only about 15-20mph. This was a highly dangerous position. I stayed on the shoulder and limped along with 4-way flashers on to the next exit, about one mile, where I was able to drive into a parking lot and call AAA road service. The truck was taken on a flatbed tow truck to the Ford dealer, about 15 miles away. It has been at the dealer now for a week. I was told the problem has to do with the computer that controls the drivetrain, and that Ford has not yet sent a solution to the dealer. I was also told that my truck is the fourth one with similar problems to arrive at the dealer, all in the same few days.

Apr 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL A couple of weeks after getting some software (or maybe firmware?) recalls done on my Ford Maverick my husband and I were driving down a semi-residential street. Suddenly the car went into limp mode and flashed a bunch of lights on the dash. So the car was limping along, but when my husband took his foot off the brake, the car started accelerating on its own. The car would brake when he hit the brakes but the second he lifted his foot off the brakes the car would start accelerating to about 40 mph. We were only a couple miles from our house, and we were able to get home safely, semi-careening our way there. Luckily there weren't any kids playing in the street (there often are) or any pedestrians crossing somewhere unexpectedly. The next day, my husband took the truck to the Ford dealership and told them about what had happened. He told them about how it went into limp mode and then accelerated by itself. They had the truck for basically the whole work day, and then brought it back. They said they couldn't recreate that failure so they cleared the codes, and told us to bring it in if it happened to them. When we got the documentation from the service it said that all they did was clear the codes. And they did NOT document ANYWHERE that we had reported that it had accelerated on its own. That night we found a Reddit thread that had lots of other people reporting the same failure and no satisfactory explanation was given, and, like us, none of them was certain that the issue had been "fixed." I'll upload the documentation they gave us, but again it's what they did NOT document that caused the most concern.

Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE While driving at highway speed, for no reason, the vehicle signals AdvanceTrac error and signals that the vehicle cannot go into the gear selected. The vehicle immediately slows to a protective reduced power (limp mode) with a max of about 30 mph. My safety was at risk because of the sudden and unexpected deceleration from highway speed. The dash indicated that multiple alerts, most alarming was that Pre-Collision Assist is not available. After turning the vehicle off for a while it would become drivable. The dealer inspected the vehicle and stated they could not detect anything wrong. This has happened to me twice on March 20, 2024 and again on March 28, 2024. I had no problem whatsoever until the dealer reprogrammed a computer module associated with a recall. The programming change caused me to have issues when none existed prior. The dealer refused to restore the programming to the original configuration. I read of many that had the same circumstances with their Ford Mavericks on various internet community boards. This is very dangerous and Ford need to develop a fix quickly! I will make my vehicle available to government agency or Ford Motor Company teams for inspection or diagnostics.

Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE Vehicle lost power while driving and has many warning notices. Pulled over but when I tried to drive again it accelerated on its own. Pulled over again and turned the vehicle off a few times and then it drive normally but with the check engine light on. Had happened 3 times. Took to Ford dealer 2 times and dealer could not reproduce the issue and gave it back to me.

Apr 2024 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE On the middle of the road when driving, of a sudden, powertrain malfunction, pre-collision not available message pop up and the service light, check engine light also started blinking on the dashboard. Gas pedal was unresponsive and the truck coasted, was not able to drive, and I was luckily able to merge over into the shoulder. Started the truck a few times and the issue persisted. Could move forward with the battery but still no input from the gas pedal. I towed the truck and is with the dealer. But i am really scared to drive it again. I was lucky to be on the slow speed zone road and was able to get out to the shoulder. However, I might have been hit and killed if it happens in the highways. Very scary moment. Ford should take some safety responsibility more carefully.

Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I took it to the dealer for a recall with a PCM programming. After that, I drove it for a few days and the car came to a sudden halt on the freeway. Mar 2024 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Was driving down a highway at about 75 MPH when the vehicle automatically shifted to neutral and gave the following warnings on the dash: Gear selected will engage at low speed, Powertrain malfunction/reduced power, pre-collision assist is not available, service engine soon warning, service advancedtrac, hill assist not available. This is about a month after other recalls were ‘fixed’ and other ‘updates’ to software were installed.

Mar 2024 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE While driving up hill a check engine light and power train malfunction/ reduced power warning appeared. This caused my vehicle to be unable to accelerate and could have caused the vehicle that was behind me to collide with my vehicle. This is the second time this issue has happened and the dealer I have taken it to has been unable to figure out the issue. As far as I know only my dealer has inspected the vehicle and there were no other warning signs or messages before the malfunction happened.

Mar 2024 SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE Vehicle was going down the highway around 70 mph and suddenly warning message appeared on display that the select drive has been disengaged and the brake light ( lower right of instrument panel ! Red brake illuminated and the engine stop propelling engine and started to brake and slow down. Had to coast to the shoulder and car was not running and brakes were still applied even I was not applying the brakes . This is the second time it acquired. Second time was after Ford dealership had again done an ecm update and said the issue was resolved.

Mar 2024 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE While driving the following warnings all came on: Gear Selected Will Engage at Low Speed Powertrain malfunction/reduced power Pre-collision assist not available Service engine soon warning Service AdvanceTrac Hill assist not available Vehicle came to a stop and parking brake automatically engaged. Driver could not control acceleration, gas pedal had no control, and vehicle moved on it's own under electric power. Vehicle would continue accelerating, and the only want to try to control speed was used the brake. Symptoms persisted for several drive cycles, until all the warning lights went off (except for checking engine light), and vehicle went back to normal. After several more drive cycles the check engine light went off. This is the third time this potential life threatening issue has occurred. Dealer has not been able to resolve the issue.

Mar 2024 ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE On two separate occasions (27 February & 16 March) my 2023 Ford Maverick XLT lost power while driving at highway speeds giving the following alerts: • Gear Selected Will Engage at Low Speed • Powertrain malfunction/reduced power • Pre-collision assist not available • Service engine soon warning • Service AdvanceTrac • Hill assist not available After the dealer couldn’t recreate the issue in February they released the truck back to me. As of today, 26 March, the dealer still has my car after the 16 March incident.

Mar 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER On [XXX] the headlights on my 23 ford maverick xlt ecoboost decided to completely go out and stop working for a couple seconds when driving past a cop which resulted in him pulling me over. Other issues i have had are the electronic parking brake failing after pressing it almost 8 times and the car lurching forward where it almost hit a wall if i didn't hit the brake again. The radio sometimes is completely unresponsive and needs a hard reset. At a stoplight the other day it was raining, once green the truck slammed into gear and the rpm jumped sky high to 5000 rpm, the traction control light didn't go off either and sounded like something metal was grinding and the hood completely flexed. All of this is recorded on dashcam which i have saved, reach out to me if you want the videos. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Mar 2024 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Upon exiting highway and getting on access road, vehicle malfunctioned and indicated to slow down and shift transmission into neutral. I lost speed and was given little if any power to accelerate. I arrived at a red light where I shifted into neutral and then park. I shifted back to drive where I was able to get very little acceleration. I turned right, put on my hazards, and looked to park as quickly as possible. Even though I was driving slow I was also unable to fully brake, which was unsettling. I found a parking lot just a little ways up the road where I parked and called for a tow truck. The truck is currently at a local Ford dealer.

Mar 2024 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL - The truck attempts to accelerate by itself. No gas pedal pressure is required. - The brake still (thankfully) slows down and stops the truck, but if those brakes had failed, my spouse and children would have been in a wreck for sure. - No one has yet inspected the vehicle, but a service appointment has been requested. - MANY warning signals suddenly flashed: something about "hill climbing," something about AdvanceTrac, a collision warning. Those were all in the screen area. Also the following icons were lit: wrench, engine, slippery road, crash. These happened immediately before the incident. No prior warning. - We had recently (last week?) gotten some recall work done by Ford. - This is happening to other people, too.
