| Apr 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | On numerous occasions all of the vehicles electronics, including screens, would shut off. Sometimes this happens while driving at highway speeds causing the vehicle to lose all power. When approaching the car to unlock there is often no power to access the vehicle, which requires manually unlocking the vehicle with the key, opening the hood, then touching metal to the battery terminal to reset the electronics. The vehicle has lost power in the middle of intersections, on the highway, and in parking lots. There are times when the car signals a fault with several of the ADAS features. When this happens it’s usually probable that once the vehicle is shut off, I won’t be able to get it started again without touching metal to the battery terminal. I have started to document the failures through video to show to the technicians just in case the OBD doesn’t match what I describe. The date I’m including is the most recent occurrence but does not reflect the many occurrences since purchasing the vehicle last spring. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | SUSPENSION | IWE issues in 2WD mode, experiencing random vibration from the front end, particularly when cold 32 degrees and below. Vibration wont stop until you pull over and stop vehicle. Sounds like hitting rumble strips. It is an intermittent problem. It has happened so far 3 times since ownership. Once in Decemeber, February, and March with each time 2 miles away from my home and the temps being 32 degrees and below. There are numerous reports on this problem with the 2023 F150 on the f-150 forum page. Some users have tagged ford as they posted their frustration over this annoying problem. You pay so much for these vehicles only to be left with additional problems and the company not doing anything for you to remedy the issue. These vehicles are are mortgages anymore. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | VISIBILITY | I recently purchased a new 2023 Ford F150, XL Trim, Crew Cab truck. This weekend on a trip, the vehicle's air conditioning began to malfunction. After operating for less than an hour and without adjusting the fan motor speed, the volume of air coming out of the vents gradually decreases to nothing and the cab of the vehicle begins to warm. With only 350 miles on the vehicle, I pulled off of the road, turned off the engine, and let the vehicle set for 20 minutes, hoping everything would reset. After the 20-minute period, I started the vehicle and the AC seemed to be working as it should. After driving another 20-30 minutes, the cab began to warm again and upon checking the air coming from the vents, it was minimal to none. I turned up the fan to max speed and the volume of air coming from the vents remained minimal and the temperature in the cab continued to rise. This time I turned the system AC off (no compressor) and left the fan on to bring in outside air in hopes of dropping the cabin temp. Immediately after turning the AC system off the air flow from the vents increased to a normal level. After operating with the AC off for 20 minutes, I turned the AC back on and the system, and yet again, the AC System operated as it should. This went on for my entire 8-hour trip. Not only an uncomfortable inconvenience, but this issue could also be safety issue (visibility) when depending on the vehicle's defog/defrost system as the AC system (compressor and condenser) is used for defogging/defrosting the vehicles windows. A similar issue has been noted in previous year models under Ford Tech Service Bulletin 22-2089. Being my issue is duplicated in the issue section of the service bulletin, the year model of my vehicle is not included. In performing some internet research, it seems that many owners of 2023 Ford F150 models are experiencing this exact issue. This issue does not cause panel lights to illuminate. Currently awaiting call back from Ford Dealer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Repeated failures with my parking brake applying itself when it wants too. It’s not on a hill, it’s not just when towing my trailer, it’s not related to solar flares - this truck is dangerous. The brakes apply at speed, did it on [XXX] in LA. The whole system just applied the brakes at 55mph. I have Repeated failures with “collision warning system” and the FORD app has this notated. And at times this system applies the brakes when there is nothing in front of me! The screen (not dash) pixelates, crashes, doesn’t work properly. It will not stay connected. I rely on this navigation, the screen quits working. The passenger window goes down & up at will, like a TX employer. I cannot stop it, can’t even figure out what’s going on. My truck is not subject to recall but should be! Others have similar issues why is mine not recalled? This truck is very dangerous to drive and I don’t trust it. Problems began after we left TX around August 2023 and I was working and could not get it fixed - DEALER COULD NOT MEET FORD WARRANTY TO PROVIDE ME A CAR/TRUCK TO USE! And now I’m in North TX where Ford Dealers have horrible reputations. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The screen in the dash consistently does not work. It's goes blank, turns blue, or continuously restarts. This screen contains the backup camera, backup camera for the pro trailer feature, climate controls, and radio. The wireless App projection also does not work. Unable to use rear view camera. Contacted Ford and was told this is "a nightmare" and "there are currently no known fixes". This is a known issue from Ford and causes significant risk to the consumer and other drivers on the road. I've contacted Ford Corporate after my dealership could not help me and I was given the same response, but in more politically correct terms. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was reversing down the driveway, the vehicle suddenly accelerated independently. Upon depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal went to the floorboard and failed to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. As a result of the failure, the driver lost control of the vehicle, coming to a complete stop after striking a tree. The vehicle continued to accelerate, requiring the driver to turn off the engine. The air bags did not deploy. The blank warning light was illuminated. A Police report was not filed, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 251. | Crash: No Fire: No | 251 |
| Mar 2024 | VISIBILITY/WIPER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Bought brand new truck in December 2023. Immediately the Air/AC/Heat would intermittingly malfunction resulting in inability to defrost windshield. This resulted in hindering the drivers visibility, automatic emergency braking, front camera visibility, and other safety features. If the AC/Heat malfunctions at a time of need for defrosting/defogging the windshield, it will put anyone in the vicinity of the moving vehicle at risk. Truck was taken into the dealership during this malfunctioning period 3 different times over 2 or 3 months. The first time a service technician diagnosed a failed module, module was replaced but did not fix the issue. The second time, the service manager and shop supervisor diagnosed a failed temp senser inside the HVAC system. Senser was reading below freezing levels, supervisor took a picture of the reading to show the electrical tech. This would cause the HVAC system to give incorrect readings to other components. After further diagnosing from the dealerships master electrical tech during the second time, tech deemed it to need an update and recalibration. Update & recalibration was completed but did not fix the issue. during the third time, the Ford Engineer, shop supervisor and master electrical tech inspected the truck and BELIEVED replacing HVAC would fix issue. It is unknown if issues were diagnosed to be failing or if it a guess. HVAC has not been replaced due to no known acknowledgement from Ford into this issue. They will replace HVAC with the exact SAME part. After discussing with other Ford owners, the same issue occurs in 2023 Ford Expedition. Multiple videos were taking over this 2–3 month timeframe, before and after multiple attempts by dealership attempting to fix the issue. Vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance reps, or others. Warning lamps/messages displayed "Front Camera Low Visibility Clean Screen" during period of malfunctioning. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | I have only had this vehicle for maybe 300-400 miles. Bought it new. Three times I’ve had the parking break engage on its own when trying to accelerate at intersections. For no reason the red parking break will light up and cause the truck to screech to a hault, then disengages when I engage the throttle again. I’ve not noticed any messages in the instrument cluster beyond the red parking light indicator. It’s intermittent and I’ve been unable to figure the triggers to recreate, but I’m scared about this happening at a time when it would cause a serious accident with my kids in the truck. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER | Randomly the ac line will freeze over and no air flow will come out of the vents although the fans can be heard working. Issues is not a simple thing to be duplicated and have brought it to 3 ford locations and still having the issue. They won’t attempt to repair anything else that could be the issue like the compressor because of fear of ford giving a bad review to the shop and mechanic. Just this week 2/28 I took the vehicle in while issue was happening and once the line defrosted and air flow came back I was again sent away because they could not replicate. This is a huge problem as I cannot defrost or defog my windshield in cold weather. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | On several occasions, while in drive, the parking brake will automatically engage uncommanded, resulting in an abrupt stop. This has happened a total of 7 times since 4/26/2023; 6 times with the owner operating the vehicle, and one time with a sales rep operating the vehicle. Unlike the collision emergency braking system, the heads up display displayed “parking brake” at the time of the incident. Following the incident with the sales rep, the dealership was “unable to replicate the issue”. The vehicle was released to the owner where the fault occurred in the middle of an intersection. Had this not been a three-way stop, serious bodily injury or death may have resulted to/from oncoming traffic. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The a/c fails to operate in hot weather. You can hear the internal fans blowing, but no air comes out when it is hot outside, and the car idles for a few minutes. Has been in the shop twice to fix this. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The air conditioning stopped cooling on several ocasiones, they changed the air sistema and it failed egain | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | So I was driving for an hour & it felt like my AC went out. You could hear the AC blowing but it felt like it was restricted through the air vent. I had it on 7 & it felt like I had it on 1 the air was barely coming out. You could definitely hear the air trying to blow when I raised it up to 7 but no air was getting thru the vents. Felt like it clogged up. Also the temperature of the very little air that was coming through the vent was warm. So I had to lower down the windows just to get fresh air in the cab as my family was complaining it was getting hot. All of this happening at 550 miles | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When selecting the tow menu on the display if you select trailer tpms or try to use the down button to scroll the instrument cluster will blank out and reboot while you are driving. You loose the entire cluster so you cannot see speed or anything. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | Cruise control button only requires 1 touch to engage. old system required to turn on and then set. it would be to bad, however button is on left side of wheel and is easily accidently engaged. It has happened many times in 2 months of ownership. Dealer and ford won't act. this thing will engage i have had approaching curves and even stop signs. I'm very disappointed with 2 aspects of truck remote tailgate drop another hazard and cruise control. please notify ford of this problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | SUSPENSION,WHEELS | The contact owned a 2023 Ford F150. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 70 MPH, the driver's side wheel and axle detached, the driver lost control, and she crashed into the guard rail. There were no warning lights illuminated. The driver sustained injuries to her body, including burns, bruises, and neck and shoulder pain. The driver received medical attention in the emergency room. The air bags were deployed. There was no reported fire. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not informed about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 178. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 1 Towed Medical attention | 178 |
| Feb 2024 | POWER TRAIN,WHEELS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | IWE four wheel drive system is engaging while driving the vehicle. Rough shaking in the front end of vehicle and grinding noise while driving. Ford has acknowledged there is a defect but the truck is operating normally and they are trying to fix the issue. Initially I was told it was unsafe to drive , but now that they do not know how to fix the issues they told me to just drive it until it completely breaks down. This is very unsafe. The vehicle is a 2023 F150 with 6,000 miles | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Burring noise coming from front end - seems 4 wheel drive partially engages approximately 2-5 miles down the road after a cold start. Hitting the 4x4 button and transitioning to 4x4 alleviates the noise. Seems to happen during cold weather. Reading online, it looks to be an issue affecting the IEW for the 4x4. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | Vehicle accelerates at low speeds when applying brake. It has happened 3 times in the past 6 months. Dealer was contacted and said no reports of this issue were on file. Most recent incident resulted in a minor collision. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | 2 issues Issue 1 Cluster tripometer randomly resets miles and mpg. Images attached. See this link for more details [XXX] Issue 2 Power train continues to "slip" randomly. The excuse I get is that the computer is still "learning"... 8 months later? | Feb 2024 | STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When selecting the TOWING option on the dash cluster, the dash shuts off to a black screen and restarts while driving. This prevents seeing the speed and other dash information. The truck also sends warning to phone after dash shut off that power steering, ABS, seatbelt control, and airbag control is malfunctioning. Took to dealer and they were able to reproduce the issue. The replaced dash but did not fix. They escalated the issue to Ford who said they are working on it back in October. Still no fix. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My truck worked fine for six months and then Ford did an update(power up) on December 14, 2023. On December 15, 2023 I took my truck to a dealership to find out why my phone, making and receiving calls, produced a static response. In order to make phone calls, I need to stop my vehicle, turn off the vehicle and open and close the door. Dealership techs had no idea why. Have talked to Ford Motors half a dozen times since then and was told Ford is aware of the problem, most likely caused by the December 14, 2023 update. Six weeks later and each time I have called I'm told that Ford is working on it. My call yesterday left me with the impression that Ford isn't all that interested in resolving the matter. Why isn't there a recall on this problem, since I'm told the static on cell phone calls through the sync 4 system is quite common.Thank you. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | On [XXX] as I was going in reverse the car started to accelerate out of control, I pumped the breaks and it increased speed, I then tried to power down truck and that did not work. My vehicle ended up going in ditch backwards and I hit a mailbox and ditch. Earlier in the week when I went to go from reverse to forward it felt like it was locked and then it would engage. I do not feel this is safe and will not ride the vehicle as I think there is something wrong mechanically with the truck. Police report will be uploaded in 1-2 days. | Jan 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While driving random chiming occurs intermittently. No fault recorded or seen on dash. Second issue has happened 3x since purchase, dash cluster shut down or cycled power or reset while driving. This to me is a safety issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | STEERING,POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | When it’s below freezing, I am experiencing a loud humming/rumbling noise while driving. It last for a mile or two then stop. I haven't drove the vehicle much in fear or damaging anything. There are 2 other vehicle in my area experiencing the same issue & they have the same vehicle. I've been to dealer, they werent able to duplicate the issue but informed me a sales advisor there with the same truck is also having this issue but havent found a fix as it continues to happen. There are many compliants and videos online regarding this issue. Ford need to open an inverstigation into this issue and provide a recall/remedy. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
