| Aug 2024 | ENGINE | 2022 Ram 1500 with etorque Hemi, 46,000 miles. On 3 occasions, since August 9, 2024, the engine stalled upon the engine starting during stop start mode. All 3 occasions occurred at a stop sign. 2 stalls occurred in front of oncoming vehicles. No accident happened. 1 instance the vehicle the emergency brake was activated, the low battery voltage light came on, voltage showed 11.4 volts, and the voltage did not increase while driving .75 mile. Battery was charged over night. Latest occurrence, after restart the voltage would stay at 13.0 volts while driving over 20 miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | On July 20, 2024, I was stopping at a red light at a slow speed when the electronic parking brake engaged on its own. I couldn’t turn it off and the truck would not move forward when the light turned green. I had to turn the vehicle on and off several times to disengage the brake. We then turned off the brake assist off in the user settings/computer. This could have caused a rear end collision but thankfully the cars behind us were also traveling at a slow speed and saw we had our hazard lights on. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | 1st Issue: With <5K miles on odometer, engine would not shift out of 1st gear. Check engine light came on. I drove ~5 miles to a safe place and parked. After a few minutes I cranked up and the check engine light was off. Transmission shifted fine. I reported to the service manager at Abernathy Dodge in Lincolnton NC during first scheduled oil change. He shrugged and said "who knows". 2nd Issue: With <10K miles, vehicle would stop suddenly and would not move. I had to pull the park brake lever to release it. Assumed it was a safety system that I was not familiar with. Later, it would lock down and stall and I took the same steeps to release. 3rd Issue: With <39K miles (3k outside of warranty and paid for) the check engine and battery light come on. I took it to Marburger RAM in Shelby NC because it is closer than the dealer where I purchased. They stated it needed a battery module that had to be ordered. I drove it almost home before the engine stalled. Had it towed back to Marburger on 7/13/24. I have called frequently and stopped in on 3 occasions since 7/13/24. Each time they are waiting on some type of battery module. No attempts to reach out and keep me updated. I really like the RAM 1500 truck but, I am sick of electronic gremlins and failure of dealer to address or communicate. I have been extremely fortunate to have avoided a highway accident caused by electronic features beyond the drivers immediate control. Any assistance and manufacturer accountability you can provide is greatly appreciated. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Problems started about a year after I built/purchased the vehicle. I started to experience stalling and hesitation when accelerating. At slower speeds, the truck shuts off, occasionally and the brakes lock up. This almost caused a major incident twice, due to vehicles following me and the abrupt stops in traffic. This could have caused a major accident and loss of life/lives. This has been going on for several months. They can't seem to duplicate the problem, even though, on 3 occasions, they did software updates and once, replaced the fuel pump. The vehicle is still under warranty but approaching the end of warranty period in about a year. I have taken the vehicle to Dodge on 8 occasions and they say it can't be duplicated. I filed an arbitration hearing for them to repurchase or replace, but was denied. I recently read in a news article that there is a preliminary investigation for the exact same thing that is happening to my vehicle, which involves over 150,000 vehicles in the 2022 Ram and Jeep Wagoneers by the NHTSA. The vehicle is very dangerous to drive and I fear that a major accident is imminent. Customer care says that because they can't find anything wrong with the vehicle, they closed the case. I have everything documented, the arbitration case denial, the customer care representative, closing the case because she stated that I was refusing to work with them, which is not true. She informed me that they were even going to tow the vehicle to the Dealership where it was purchased, but the dealership refused to look at or work on the vehicle. She expected me to drive 100 miles to another dealership and I refused to do that, based on the drivability of the vehicle. The dealership where purchased, is 15-20 miles from my residence. Another dealership, that has been trying to duplicate the problem is 5 miles from my residence. There is a very, very dangerous problem with this vehicle. At the moment I have roughly 17,000 miles; practically new. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Jul 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | RE: Open NHTSA investigation to Ram & Jeep… Today, [XXX] at about 10am: While driving at low speed: My 2022 RAM 1500 shut off, put itself in park and activated emergency brake — this is the 2nd time in less than one month this has happened. I took truck to dealer (Central Florida Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram) for service on 7/8/24 to address the first time this happened on [XXX]. There is an open nhtsa investigation into Ram/Jeep for 2022 vehicles shutting off… i need direction yo help address this issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The truck has been having difficulty shifting the transmission at times, major delay in throttle when applying the gas pedal at a stop sign or at a stop light. This can be a major accident waiting to happen because that delay may and can cause an accident, injury, and/or death. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | The truck will lose power, shift into park and apply the emergency brake. This has happened around 25 time, It happened the day i got the truck, got it started turned around went back to the dealer, they did find anything. This is a very | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ENGINE | While driving around 75 MPH on I-75 on 7/28/2024, my Ram truck seemed to stall and would not accelerate as I was driving in the middle lane. I tried several times to accelerate but the response was intermediate and not sustainable for more than 1-2 seconds. The experience reminded me of a time dozens of years ago in a different vehicle when I ran out of fuel. FYI- I had a 1/3 tank of fuel remaining when my issue occurred. Having no acceleration at this high of speed with heavy traffic put me and my family at risk. I safely pulled over and the engine automatically shut down when I put it in Park. There were no check engine/warning lights on the display. I waited about a minute and restarted the engine. The engine reved okay so I put in drive and completed my drive with no additional issues. I have an appointment with my local dealer next week to have this looked into. This is the only time that I've experienced this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | At low speed, engine stalled and along with strange braking issues occurred causing me to move off road to avoid traffic. Check engine light, and battery light illuminated. After multiple attempts engine restarted and I was able to drive vehicle normally. I didn't think much of it until same problem reoccurred with engine surging and braking. Similar to the transmission slipping and jolting when throttle applied. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Which specific part malfunctioned is unknown. I was slowing down as I was approaching a stop sign when the engine shut off. Next, the automatic emergency braking was activated. I had to restart my vehicle, disengage the parking brake, and shift back into drive. I continued to proceed on my way driving significantly under the speed limit, for fear of this occurring again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Happens once in every 5 times. If I'm sitting still about to gas it to pull out into traffic the gas pedal does not react causing a massive delay that has almost got me in a few accidents. I've also been at an intersection, stop signs, traffic lights and parking decks moving slowly and the trucks Emergency Brake will automatically be applied. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | The vehicle has stalled multiple times while slowing down into a light and does not restart. The vehicle is equipped with the e - torque system that is supposed to restart the vehicle after coming to a full stop in the engine shutting down to conserve fuel. The vehicle will sometimes shut down at a slow speed and will apply the parking brake automatically. The vehicle then has to be restarted the emergency brake has to be disengaged and the vehicle has to be shifted back into drive to be able to move. The vehicle will have multiple warning lights come up on occasion, including low voltage, service etorque system, low power mode. The vehicle has been taken to two different dealerships at least three different occasions. Sometimes they find diagnostic trouble codes that refer to loss or low engine power. But they have not been able to replicate the problem when dropped off. The problem has occurred during the winter months but also the summer months, so it seems that temperature is not the sole cause. But it seemed to happen more during winter time. The concern for safety is that the vehicle will shut down at a low speed of less than 3 mph. When letting go of the break and expecting the engine to restart the vehicle May slowly roll forward into an intersection if it's in a downhill before the parking brake is able to engage itself. Another concern is for the person behind might assume that the vehicle will drive forward but due to the engine failing to restart and applying the e-brake, the person behind might not see the brake lights engage and could cause the vehicle to get rear-ended if the driver behind is not able to determine the vehicle in front of them has stalled. The problems will appear with no warning whatsoever. And they seem to mostly happen during the initial few miles of the day. As the majority of the instances have been during the morning on my way to work. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ENGINE | My truck randomly stalls, and which point the parking brake engages, sometimes in the middle of a turn or at a stop sign, This issue was the topic of a recall for the 2021 model year. Mine is a 2022 and is experiencing the same exact symptoms and issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | 1. Engine stalled and complete loss of power at low speed/during acceleration at a stop sign, traffic signal, crossing, etc. 2. Engine stalled and complete loss of power at low speed (under 35 mph) during acceleration and/or deceleration. 3. I've noticed over the last several incidents that upon initial startup the engine did not feel or sound normal to the point I have been able to anticipate a stall. Engine will not idle properly, rough/jerky takeoff, delayed response when accelerating. Stalling only occurs once per driving episode. It has not stalled a second time following the initial stall. It appears the issue resets the engine?, electronics?, computer board?. 4. Incidents are very stressful. The number of times the stalling incident has taken place is between 15-20 times. I purchased the vehicle new with 35 miles. As of 7/2/24 I have 39,400 miles. The issue began about a year ago with approximate mileage of 26,000 | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | Vehicle stalled after accelerating from a stop sign during slow speed driving in my neighborhood. Truck engaged auto parking brake in middle of intersection, "battery" light illuminated on dash, and Battery voltage suddenly read approx 11.5v. Had to restart in intersection and disengage parking brake to proceed. This occurred at 18002 miles on May 11. (photo attached) No previous warning lights or issues. Dealer was only a mile away so drove there without stopping while battery voltage continued to read 11.x volts. The dealership service dept was closed, so drove 2 miles home while battery warning continued. After stopping and re-starting truck in my driveway, voltage showed normal 13-14v and continued to run normally afterwards. Truck occasionally exhibits engine stumble especially when coasting to stop signs in my 15 mph neighborhood during first drive of the day. I have not experienced a complete stall since this one incident. Vehicle has not been back to the dealer since this occurred but is available on request. While unusual, I didn't have time to deal with the problem since the dealer was closed. I saw a notice of nhtsa investigation online which made me think to report this now, 2 months later. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN | When coming to a rolling stop, or a stop where the vehicle just briefly stops moving, the press on the accelerator, the vehicle hesitates for a moment, sometimes 1-2 seconds. This behavior is repeatable. In regular driving such as making a quick left turn after slowing to a near stop or a right turn immediately after coming to a stop at a light or stop sign, this behavior is dangerous as the driver expects and immediate response. Taken to dealer. Official write up claims they were unable to duplicate, however texts with the service advisor say they repeated this behavior with multiple trucks. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ENGINE | The engine in my truck stopped running while I was driving on the highway. First thing I noticed was the dash indicating that I should shift into park. When I attempted to apply power to safely change lanes, there was no response from the engine and thats when I realized the rpm was at 0. I attempted to restart the engine, but it sputtered and ultimately died again. Upon bringing the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder, I attempted a restart and the engine ran loudly for a moment and then died. Once I got the truck to the dealer and they were able to assess the problem, the determined that the engine had experienced catastrophic failure. One of the valves had stuck open and punched a hole in the piston. Thankfully this was covered under warranty and the truck now has a brand new long block, I have since learned that this is a recurring issue with this motor from FCA so I decided to report it to the NHTSA. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Vehicle stumbles at stops when sits more than 6 hrs ..feels like a misfire ..had it to dealer 6 times can’t find problem | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ENGINE | Near stalls when taking off from stop. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 20-30 MPH after making a turn, the vehicle stalled. The contact shifted to neutral(N) and pulled to the side of the roadway. The contact had not attempted to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure had recurred six months later. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a secondary dealer, Rick Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Duluth (2473 Pleasant Hill Rd, Duluth, GA 30096); however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 22,000 |
| Jul 2024 | ENGINE | 2022 Ram 3.5 V6 ETorque. While cruising at low speeds (Approx. under 30mph) and making a left-hand turn, my vehicle's engine shut off and the emergency brakes activated without warning. This happened on more than one occasion. This safety hazard could lead to serious bodily injury or death. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ENGINE | Engine stalls randomly and the parking brake sets automatically slamming the truck to a sudden stop. So far I’ve had 4 separate incidents. Always when taking off after a stop at an intersection. Truck stalled just as I was entering an intersection each time. No dealer has confirmed this issue. No inspections have been done. No warning lights or messages appear. Incidents occurred over a 8 month period beginning 12/2023. Most recent, first week of 07/2024. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | I am not sure what system failed, but I suspect it could be an electrical or engine problem. The car has lost towing features, has shut off or almost shut off while driving on highways or while making left and right turns during exits from highways. The vehicle has also lost power steering. This happen while the vehicle was towing a travel trailer on the highway. There will be occasions when the front collision warning system goes off in spite of no collision being imminent. There have been occasions where the infotainment unit fails to turn on and also the rear-view camera feature does not come on. The vehicle continues to have these issues off and on. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and those that were onboard the vehicle were put at high risk because the vehicle could have been rear-ended had vehicles behind me been following more closely while the vehicle lost power and stalled/almost stalled. On the highway, my safety and those of others were at even higher risk due to increased speeds. During towing our safety has been tremendously put at risk. Some of the problems have been "fixed" by the local dealership (i.e. loose cables, replacement of infotainment unit). In other instances (stalling issue, collision warning system) the dealer claims to be unable to reproduce the problem. The vehicle and or components have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, etc. One occasion there was a "check engine" warning, but it was very brief. Other than that there have bee no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problems prior to the failure. These issues first appeared in August 2022, four months after purchased brand new from the dealer. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer for inspection of these issues ever since, on at least five occasions. The latest stalling issue was in March 2024, though I did not take it to the dealer since on prior instances they have insisted there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I was slowing down for traffic at a stop light and when I was almost stopped traffic began moving again so I took my foot off the brake and pushed the gas pedal. The truck stalled, it shifted to park, the emergency brake came on and a red warning lamp for the battery came on. Traffic behind me had to stop abruptly to avoid hitting my vehicle. I immediately put my 4-way flashers on while trying to get the truck to restart. This was at 3:30 pm in very busy traffic on a 6 lane road on Feb 22 2024. I couldn’t get the truck to restart or move or do anything for over a minute. After a minute the truck allowed me to restart and drive home. The battery lamp stayed on the whole way home and the back-up camera stopped working when I parked. It has never had issues other than this one time. There were no warning lights on and no symptoms before this happened. It has not happened since, but I worry it could happen again with no warning. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
