| May 2022 | LANE DEPARTURE | On Saturday, April 9 when breaking at a stop sign my car slammed on my breaks for me and the dash lit up with multiple warning lights, indicating an issue with the "check lane departure warning system." The car seemed to drive okay, no additional strange breaking situations, but the warning lights stayed on for a day. I called my dealer, and they saw the vehicle on April 22nd. Between the 9th and that date the warning lights eventually went off, then came on again (but no strange breaking). Then were off by the time I went to the dealership. They were able to find vehicle history of 2 codes, but said they found no issues and the vehicle passed tests. So they told me that they weren't sure what happened, but the car was drivable. Since the 22nd I have had one more time where the warning lights came on as I was already breaking, and the car slammed on the breaks for me. But the dealership said unless I was able to bring the car in when the warning lights were all on, they couldn't help. And I could never get to the dealership before the lights went out (usually the warning lights would go out within 24 hours, and the closest dealership is an hour drive from where I live/work). On May 29 my husband was driving and I was a passenger when the warning lights came on. I said it wouldn't cause an issue while driving, but this time was different. While we were on the interstate in a busy city he noticed that he was falling behind the pace of traffic. When he tried to accelerate, the car wouldn't speed up at all, our speed dropped, and he said that when he looked at the car screen it appeared that the electric battery wasn't being charged at all. My husband was able to get us merged to the side and off an exit. We pulled into a parking lot, and he turned the car off, then turned it back on a few minutes later. The warning lights were still there, but the electric battery now showed as charging. We continued driving, but I am afraid this will cause an accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2022 | STEERING,SUSPENSION,SERVICE BRAKES | Bought the vehicle brand new in late 2021, and began noticing some vibration when braking at any speed. The vehicle at this point has less than 10,000 miles and the brakes are vibrating really bad. The manufacturer has not issued a recall and their best fix is turning the brake rotors and calling it a day. Never had I had such a poor experience with this manufacturer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2022 | STEERING | Random mild to loud squeaking (sounds like a tortured mouse sound) coming from steering column. The only way to temporarily stop the noise is to stop and turn steering wheel all the way to the right then to the left. Because it is random, it did not squeak for my dealership, when the drove it around the block. It usually starts after about a mile down the road, when it does happen. It only squeaks when driving straight. Does not squeak when making a turn or at a stop. Certain weather conditions or speeds do not effect when this noise occurs. I did hear that one person, on the KIA Forum, had to have their steering column replaced on their 2022 KIA Sorento. There are other customers complaining about this. It starts about two months after buying the vehicle. This a scary, because I don't know if or when I may lose steering function when traveling anywhere, especially on a 70 mph interstate. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2022 | VISIBILITY | Windshield cracked by a tiny pebble. The main windhsield of my 2022 Hybrid cracked while driving in the freeway. The windshield is not strong enougha nd causes a danger. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission failed at 1561 miles. Will accelerate to 3000rpm do a 1-2 shift then immediately bang back into 1st. Car was flat bedded to dealer. Awaiting new transmission which is on backorder. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2022 | VISIBILITY | My vehicle (2022 kia sorento) was purchased 11/08/21. It only has 1777 miles at this exact time. My windshield started cracking on my drivers side from the sunroof down. This is ridiculous for a vehicle so new. I've read this is a chronic issue with the tellurides. Kia refuses to do anything about it | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
