| Oct 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | 10/14/2025 approximately 0745 CST I had just exited off a 70mph state hwy on my normal route to work. My 2022 Wrangler 4xe seemed to “glitch” and loose power, no systems available and then kicked back on but in lower gear. I am current on all recalls and service. Currently mileage is just under 30,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | The component that failed was the steering damper. This results in the vehicle violently shaking at freeway speeds after hitting a bump. This has resulted in me having to pull over to get the issue to stop on multiple occasions. In addition, it can be difficult to keep control of the vehicle when this is happening and there is no set way to make it stop once it has begun. It is unpredictable, as it happens sometimes and does not others. One big danger is that it occurs most often when traveling at higher speeds. The vehicle is currently at the dealership getting fixed for the same issue. This is the 5th time that it has been taken in for the same issue. The component has failed 4 times since I got the car 3 years ago. I have taken the car to the dealership 5 times for the same issue. The first time I brought the car in for the issue, they replaced several parts, but not the steering damper. Within a month I brought the car back in for the same issue. Each time since then, they have replaced the steering damper along with other parts (Invoices will be attached to this report with part names and numbers). Each time the vehicle was taken in to the dealership, the mechanics were able to reproduce the issue. This is documented on each invoice I received. No warning lamps, messages, or any other warning signs were present prior to the issue occurring. The issue first occurred in February of 2023 (10 months after purchasing the car new). It was taken to the dealership for the first time on February 10, 2023. It was brought in for the repeated issue on March 9, 2023, March 18, 2024, March 14, 2025, and most recently on September 23, 2025. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | Car shut down on [XXX] and would not start. Indicated problem with charging system. Vehicle is currently in Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico. Towed car to local Jeep dealer. Car had outstanding recall (ZB7 2021-2023 JL 4XE Loss of Motive Power). Dealer diagnosed issues as a failure of the battery, so that was replaced, along with software updates to address the recalls. We had to pay over $900 out of pocket for these repairs, and it stayed with the dealer for 3.5 weeks. Two days later the vehicle is again failing with the same issues and will not start. It began with the check engine light coming on, then A/C stopped cooling, then the car only would stay in hybrid mode, and the transmission was revving. After stopping the car and shutting it off it will not restart. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | While driving to an appointment on 11 August 2025 the yellow CEL light came on and the Jeep Wrangler 4xe stopped operating in hybrid mode. A few miles later the Jeep went into limp mode with a red turtle, red wrench, and red battery light. Pulled into the left center turn lane to allow faster traffic to pass and then made a left turn off of a busy 4-lane highway. I then proceeded down the hill and at the next traffic light I was turning right when the Jeep stopped and the gas engine completely shut down and the Jeep stopped moving halfway through the intersection. Putting the vehicle in park, I attempted to restart the vehicle while it sat in the middle of the intersection but it wouldn’t restart. I then turned on my flashers and exited the vehicle so I could call a tow truck. After the vehicle was towed to the nearest Jeep dealership I learned two days later that the hybrid battery pack had failed and it needed to be replaced. As of 18 September and the vehicle is still at the dealership awaiting authorization from the Jeep engineering team so the technician at the dealership can order a special part! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Turtle mode was activated for the 5th time on my Jeep while driving on the highway. Was in traffic at the time and was beginning acceleration when it went into turtle mode. I was able to SLOWLY go across 1 lane of traffic to pull over. I was able to pull over. While I was on the shoulder the turtle mode went away and I was able to resume my drive. If I have been going the speed limit when this happened I and other could have been severely injured if my car suddenly lost power. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Loss of Motive Power - will be driving on the interstate and the car will suddenly go into turtle mode with no warning and the car will abruptly slow down to a slow crawl. Took to dealer they could not find a diagnostic code so in their mind there is nothing to fix (currently still at dealer). This has happened to me 4 times. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2025 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that on three separate occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked upon depression of the accelerator pedal with a message to "Service Transmission Continue in D - Do Not Shift or Turn Engine Off" was displayed on the instrument panel. On the first failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to Galeana Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (14375 S Tamiami Trl, Fort Myers, FL 33912); however, the contact was informed that the dealer would not honor warranty. The vehicle was taken to another dealer and the body control module was replaced. The failure returned months later while the contact was out of town and the vehicle was towed cross country on the contact's trailer back to the dealer. The contact was informed on the visit that the transmission control module was defective and the TCM was replaced; however, the failure returned months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it remained. The dealer reached out to the manufacturer while the contact waited for a decision from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was 2,132. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 2,132 |
| Sep 2025 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | I was traveling at 80mph on an interstate in the fast lane. There were only two lanes. Road was straight with a slight incline. Temperature was 98 degrees. I had been traveling for 10 hours that day. I hear the same bing chime the Jeep makes when it switches from electric to hybrid mode. I was already in hybrid mode and I experienced a lost of power. My vehicle started to coast which it never does because the regenerative breaks always slow me down. I noticed a message on my display but I could not read it as I used the momentum I had to reach the shoulder of the slow lane and coast to a stop. I put the car in park. The message was gone. A few seconds after putting the vehicle in park, it restarted and behaved normally again. This happened one day after being serviced at the dealer. I have all recalls completed including one that covers this issue. I took the Jeep in to be checked and they were unable to read codes or detect any issues. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES | On August 12, 2025, the brakes on my 2022 Jeep Wrangler failed and resulted in a low speed collision. Brakes were being applied to stop for a traffic light and when I realized the vehicle was not stopping I pushed pedal to floor twice to try and stop vehicle. After the accident the vehicle was towed to Tate Jeep dealership who could not duplicate the incident or identify why pressure in brake line dropped. Air bags did not deploy. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | Rear window defrost The defrost mechanism has become detached on most Jeeps making it unable to defrost the rear window for visability. has Not inspected by manufacturer or any other rep. | Jul 2025 | STEERING,SUSPENSION,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Subject: Urgent Safety Complaint Regarding Jeep with Death Wobble – Purchased from Maxon Buick GMC, Union, NJ Dear NHTSA, I am writing to report a serious safety issue involving a Jeep SUV I purchased for my son on [XXX], from Maxon Buick GMC located in Union, New Jersey. The vehicle was purchased for over $30,000, and within the first day of driving, my son began experiencing what is commonly referred to as the "Death Wobble." This violent shaking occurs unexpectedly while driving and has been happening every day since the vehicle was purchased. After doing some research, we learned that the “Death Wobble” is a known issue with certain Jeep models, and the symptoms are consistent with what my son has experienced. It is extremely frightening and dangerous, and I am deeply concerned for his safety and the safety of others on the road. I do not understand how a dealership is allowed to sell a vehicle in this condition. Selling a vehicle with such a potentially deadly defect is both irresponsible and unethical. This issue must be investigated and addressed immediately to prevent further risk to drivers and passengers. Please consider this an urgent request to look into this matter. I would appreciate confirmation of this complaint and any information on what steps will be taken to hold the dealership and manufacturer accountable. I HAVE VIDEO WHILE IT'S HAPPENING BUT UNABLE TO UPLOAD FOR SOME REASON Thank you for your time and attention to this critical safety issue. | Jul 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V720000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle experienced an electrical failure and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the HV Battery had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the part was on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 34,000. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 34,000 |
| Jun 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The vehicle experienced multiple serious fuel system failures, including a failed fuel injector and high-pressure fuel pump. After these components were replaced, it was confirmed that fuel was still entering the engine crankcase. At no point did the vehicle trigger a “Check Engine” light, oil dilution warning, low oil pressure alert, or any hybrid/electric powertrain. This represents a critical safety & reliability issue. Fuel dilution of engine oil can: severely degrade lubrication, increase crankcase pressure, and/or lead to internal engine failure or fire The lack of any warning or diagnostic code suggests either: a software calibration issue in the ECM/BCM that failed to detect the problem, a sensor failure, and/or a defect in the onboard diagnostic system itself. This could indicate a broader defect affecting the safety of the 4xe platform and request investigation. This failure delayed necessary service and put both vehicle and occupants at risk. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | My Jeep Wrangler has an internal short in the instrument cluster. Recall campaign # 24V652000, diagnosed by Beck Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge in Palatka, FL. The Jeep instrument panel quit functioning completely on Monday [XXX] around [XXX] a.m with no prior warnings, warning lights or related failures. However, my Vin # is not showing up in the recall, but has the same reported failure as the recall notice. The Jeep dealership confirmed the instrument panel internal short on the same day as the failure, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | SUSPENSION | DEATH WOBBLE. While driving at freeway speeds hitting a road bump my Jeep went into a severe uncontrollable shaking wherein the entire car was moving sideways and in an up and down motion. i did some research online and found this condition to be a common Jeep Wrangler problem. i brought the car to the dealer and they said it is a known problem with the steering damper. In my research online, many believe the problem is the tie rod, drag link and ball joints are the cause and the steering damper just masks the symptoms until it wears out. i had a third party off road repair shop look at the suspension parts and they noted the drag link had play within the bushings and recommended it be replaced. Upon not visit to the dealer, i asked them to check it out and they said everything was fine except the steering damper was bad. I had the replace the steering damper. I am still getting a shaking vibration at freeway speeds while hitting a bump in the road. it is not as severe but it definitely shakes the steering wheel and the vehicle enough to be concerned that something is wrong with the suspension. If you search DEATH WOBBLE you will find the exact condition i am experiencing. Jeep says everything is okay with the vehicle and yet I am still experiencing a vibration. my warranty expires 5/29/25. thank you [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The IPC short circuited and has not been functioning since November of 2024. There is no gas gauge, fuel gauge or way to see any check engine lights. There is an active recall for jeeps 2018-2024 under NHTSA recall number 24V-652. No accidents or anything to cause this panel to be blank. Drove it the night before, parked and when I started it the following morning the entire panel was black. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | The car started to shake uncontrollably at highway speed without warning. Steering was very difficult. It was difficult to even see out of the vehicle due to extreme shaking. The car is going to the dealer to be examined. This is a low mileage daily driver, completely stock, with no modifications. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2025 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | I was almost killed when my Jeep did the death wobble at 70 mph on the freeway. It violently shook out of control while I was in the fast lane of the freeway without warning. I had no control over the steering wheel, and it was pulling me towards the freeway wall. Slowing the car down was very difficult because it was jerking around so violently. I got off the freeway very slowly with my hazards on. A pickup truck followed me off the freeway to make sure I was ok. He said the tires were going crazy, and everybody saw it. It was an 18 wheeler next to me, and I could have died. I only have abt 30,000 miles. Now I’m selling it, because I’m terrified. I live in Michigan, if there was snow or ice it definitely would have been tragic. It’s in the shop under warranty, but jeep dealership telegraph rd in Southfield said something was bent and it was my fault why it went out of control. But whatever is bent, got bent from the violent shaking. I didn’t even hit anything. This happened on Thursday on the way to work, when I first got on the freeway it shook a little, and I was getting ready to pull over, then it stopped. 5 mins later that’s when the death wobble occurred. I took it to Jeep around a year ago when it was shaking. They said it didn’t do it, and nothing was wrong. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle hesitated and failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer who diagnosed that a transmission cable needed to be replaced. The transmission cable was replaced; however, the failure became progressively worse. The vehicle was taken several times to the dealer however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that several unknown parts were replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 600. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 600 |
| Apr 2025 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving on the highway at 65 MPH and driving over a pothole, the vehicle started violent shake and the steering wheel seized. The contact pulled over, came to a complete stop and was able to continue driving. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the shocks were leaking hydraulic fluid, and the steering damper was faulty. The contact was informed that the shocks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 23,500. | Crash: No Fire: No | 23,500 |
| Apr 2025 | AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Was driving to work and the car failed to let me know I was going to hit something and I swerved into another lane creating a crash into a telephone pole and then into a pond/swamp area. The airbags did not deploy and I was going about 40 mph I suffered neck back and bruises to my arms. I am suffering servers neck pain. The car filled with water. The car did say it detected a crash but no air bags deployed after the telephone being straight in the middle. The car was totaled. Nothing appeared. No warning signs. I believe the car has been taken to salvage. If I had the air bags go off I would not have been hurt as bad with my neck back and arm pain. It was thrown violently | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 1 Towed Medical attention | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I received a safety warning about my air bags specifically via my Jeep app on my iPhone about 1 1/2 hours after I had been rear-ended in a motor vehicle accident. The rear-end impact pushed me into a van in front of me. The safety notice notified me to take my 2022 Jeep in to have the air bags checked. There were no prior warnings. I am concerned as to whether or not the air bags should have employed upon impact. My seatbelt did totally lock into place after impact, but the air bags did not activate. My vehicle is currently still being repaired at a collision service, per the direction of my auto insurance carrier. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Medical attention | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | See attached document for complaint. Excerpt from attachment: I received a letter from the FCA FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES an according to the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety act that letter stated: "FCA US LLC had decided that certain 2022 Jeep Wrangler vehicle equipped with a 3.5" Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) failed to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVS) No.101-Controls and displays" Safety recall 30B/NHTSA 24V -652 February 2025 I called the FCA Recall Assistance center at 1-800-853-1403. The agent told me the part was available. So, I made an appointment through them and to brought my Jeep into the San Diego Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram San Diego, CA, but about an hour later I received a phone call the "mechanics" said that they did not have the part(s) for this issue to be repaired. We went back to retrieve my 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sport Sand was told that they could keep the car due to needing the latest mileage on my Jeep, before they even could order the parts or whatever to fix it. Note my instrumental panel seem to be working fine. But According to that Jeep "mechanic" it still had to be replaced. I can't afford to leave my Jeep there waiting for some part(s) to be ordered. The mechanics can't say when the parts would be available for the repair to be done. It could be a week, it could be a month, it could be a year, they can't say. But they never told me if they are ordering any parts without keeping my Jeep there gathering dust waiting for something to happen. The "mechanics" aren't going to charge me, that is what they said. But the part about not getting it done in a reasonable time due to not having the parts and wanting me to leave the Jeep there to what? Gather dust? Service dealer at San Diego Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram 777 [XXX] , San Diego, CA92108 My vehicle is a 2022 Red 4 Door Jeep Wrangler Sport S Vin# [XXX] I paid over 50,000 USD for that 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sports S and this issue can't be solves? I would like an answer as to why my Jeep needs to be left with the service dealership before even ordering the part(s). I have enclosed the letter I received from the FCA FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES Which in the letter states that, "To do this, you dealer will replace the IPC. The estimated repair time is 2 days for the new IPC to be programmed with current mileage and delivered to the dealership." But the I was told the parts were not in stock and they did not know where it would be available to take care of the issue. Nothing was said about whether parts were available it could be a couple of days for the Jeep to be repaired. Please note that the Jeep first POC is XXXX XXXX, but I am also on the contract/payments and the Jeep is registered in both of our names. But I am the primary driver of the 2022 Jeep. | Apr 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The instrument cluster is not working. On March 25 2025 during driving the cluster started to malfunction by turning on and off and then few seconds later it was off. Once the cluster is off there is no visual assessment of how fast the car is moving, any alarms, temperature, fuel gauge, non of the gauges work. Took car to an electrical car repair shop since this is a safety issue and they found that there was a cluster recall on 2022 wrangler sport jeeps so no repairs was done to the car. The dealer was called and under the VIN inquiry I was informed that there was no instrument cluster recall. My question is since there is evidence in several www literature of Jeep Wrangler recalls due to instrument cluster why then our instrument cluster not part of a recall | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2025 | STEERING,SUSPENSION,WHEELS | Vehicle Make/Model/Year: 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Component Affected: Steering / Suspension or wheels not sure Mileage at First Incident: 30000 approx Odometer Now: 33150 approx Complaint Summary: My 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has experienced repeated incidents of "death wobble" and uncontrolable shake , where the steering wheel shakes violently and the vehicle becomes difficult to control. Both my husband and I have experienced this issue multiple times, often after hitting small bumps or uneven pavement also in the highway when at speeds over 60 mph. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership twice, ( this is after "fixing this issue twice supposely) explained the issue in detail, and requested a thorough inspection. Despite this, the vehicle was returned to us both times with no resolution, and the dealership stated they could not recreate the issue. We later confirmed with Jeep Customer Care that the service center did not open a STAR case as requested, and the original case was closed without resolution. This issue is intermittent, which is well-known with death wobble cases, yet no action has been taken to investigate or repair the root cause. This raises serious concerns about driver and passenger safety. The issue is ongoing, and we have now had to reopen the case with Jeep and escalate the matter ourselves. We have also discovered inconsistencies with other service claims. For example, the dealership claimed the battery was replaced during a previous visit, yet the physical battery under the seat has a sticker showing the same manufacturing date as the original, raising doubts that it was actually replaced. This is a dangerous, unresolved issue affecting the safety of our vehicle, and we are seeking accountability and formal investigation through the proper channels. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
