Apr 2024 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE Vehicle immediately accelerated as I was attempting to pull out of the house garage. I pressed hard on the breaks to halt it. I then returned the gear knob to park (“P”) mode. I tried again to place the gear knob on drive and the vehicle started raving on high as if it was about to take off at full speed. I waited for a few minutes while it was on park “P” mode, with the engine still idling, and placed it in reverse “R” mode to return into the garage and the same thing happened in reverse mode. It jumped back in full speed when I gradually released the brakes. Engine was raving extremely high. I decided to shut it off and schedule an appointment with the dealership for a vehicle inspection. As is, not certain if it might do the same while out on the street driving it. Vehicle just had a recall inspection done on 4/20/2024. This is the first time the engine has done such.

Apr 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Today was the second time the AEB engaged while I was driving with no apparent reason. The first was in Nov 2023 while driving on the interstate at about 70 mph. The AEB engaged, slamming the car to an almost stop, alarm blared for a moment and then the car continued operating with no apparent codes or warning lights. Today it did it again while traveling about 30 mph. I was slowing down to turn into a drive. I was still headed straight with no cars around and the AEB engaged, slamming the car to a full stop, with the alarm and the dash flashing something in red. The car then drove off fine with no warning lights or indicators on the dash. I cannot reproduce the AEB reponse. In response to the first occurrence, the dealer “flashed” the software last year. I intend to take it in tomorrow for the reoccurrence. I believe it to be a safety issue not only in that my back hurts terribly from the whiplash of a stop as sudden as hitting a wall, but because had there been a car behind me on either occasion, it is almost certain they would have had to make a dramatic and dangerous swerve to avoid it or rear ended me.

Mar 2024 STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE Most Dashboard Electronics FAILED and are available for inspection Steering wheel red light symbol came on and I LOST Power Steering ! Red Triangle Safety symbol turned on Hybrid Electric Vehicle Failure ABS Brake symbol, Loss of brakes Hybrid Service light Engine service symbol Red battery light symbol, Battery power unavailable While driving the speed limit (25mph) in my Village with pedestrians crossing the street and traffic around me, the Jeep 4xe experienced a Cascading Electronic failure with the power steering; brakes; engine power and most electronic functions with the dashboard lighting up every symbol on the screen. I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL In order to regain control of the moving vehicle, I had to FORCE the steering wheel to turn into a Handicap space in front of me while attempting to brake at the same time. I was able to avoid the pedestrians and cars around me as well as the parked car next to me, without causing any damage to myself or those in the vicinity. If I was traveling on the Freeway, loading onto my local Ferry or driving on a major Highway or Freeway onramp, my life and the life of those around me would have been in serious jeopardy because I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL of the Jeep. Jeep FCA arranged to tow the car to the JEEP Dealer who INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, downloaded the computer data, examined the Report, CONFIRMED the multiple PROBLEMS and repaired the vehicle with a detailed description of the problems they encountered. Prior to the complete FAILURE of the 4xe, there were NO warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms or ANY indication of any kind of the impending crisis and near disaster. So far, there have been a total of FOUR RECALLS. Two have been addressed, with the third to be serviced tomorrow and the fourth without parts avaible to keep the wheels from falling off. Mar 2024 STEERING On [XXX], on [XXX] Express Lanes (XXX) at approximately 55mph, I drove over an uneven portion of the highway being maintained/bumpy (far left lane). My vehicle intermittently pulled to the left while I attempted to steer right. I believed the problem to be associated with my steering/wheel components. After contacting the Farrish Jeep Dealer, 9610 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22031, I was told a recall (XXX) related to an upper control arm pinch bolt being likely why my steering might be affected. An appointment was scheduled for [XXX]. The issue happened intermittently but inconsistently up to the appointment date. During the [XXX], the Farrish dealer indicated the issue could not be duplicated. And I was required to pick up the Jeep. I subsequently called FCA USA, LLC (1 (800) 334-9200) indicating my concern driving the vehicle with intermittent issues that could result in a crash. I also requested to maintain the Loaner car that was issued during my service with Farrish Jeep; but no response/action was issued or received due to a required management call. It is March 10th, and I have not received the call. The vehicle is not safe to drive based on my recent experience and is available for inspection. And if there is any small chance that the current recall is affected by uneven terrain or bumps at high speeds; then I it can be catastrophic for my and my child’s health. Thus, I humbly request to return this vehicle with a full return toward another purchase that is safe for my family and I. Mar 2024 STEERING,WHEELS,VISIBILITY/WIPER My car now has 2 open recalls associated with it (for a grand total of 5 overall) - and it only has 9,580 miles on it. The latest recall, 24V-132, does not have a remedy yet available. Jeep indicates the earliest they will be able to fix my car is April 8, 2024. I have told them numerous times I feel it is unsafe to drive. They are not giving me a loaner. They are not giving me a rental. I am stuck until "someone from the recall division calls" me back. Even though it's a rist of the wheels falling off, which can cause a wreck with no warning! Recall 24V-11 was enacted on 2/15/24. My defrost system doesn't work well ...

Feb 2024 WHEELS Tire pressure monitoring system failure multiple times a week. I've taken it into the service department several times and they can't seem to find a fix. Every time I get the alarm on my car, I have to get out, check all the tires to make sure I can drive safely. My sister in law has the same car and they are getting these alarms too. Jeep needs to get a fix for this asap.

Feb 2024 STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE Brand new car. Driven 600 miles. After shopping at Costco I get to the car and it is completely dead. Makes me afraid of what may happen in the future.

Feb 2024 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE ON [XXX], at [XXX], i was driving the vehicle in electric Save mode, where the temperature was around -19 degree on that day and i was heading for car wash, During that time, the vehicle in front of me applied a break. i was at safe distance i applied the break as the distance was close Even the anti-breaking system did not work on hitting the vehicle at that time, and then it bumped three times. I was in shock at the vehicle's behavior and lost confidence in it. So the police office impounded the vehicle. to make the road safe. None of the air bags were deployed. Jan 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Fuel gauge incorrectly shows to be full (with no change in range) until about 4 gallons (~80-90 miles) has been used. After that the fuel gauge begins to register and the Range begins moving down. After several attempts to get the issue fixed, I finally had a service manager admit it is an issue with all Cherokee & Wrangler 4xe models. I then did an internet search and discovered it is a well known issue.

Dec 2023 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL It is easy, when driving in automatic mode, to accidently touch one of the paddle shifters. In doing so, the automatic transmission disengages, and the transmission suddenly switches to control by the paddle shifters. If the driver is unaware of this, the vehicle can lose motive power if the gear then in effect is no longer fitting for the vehicles speed and the engine's RPM. I recently took the vehicle in for service of this issue because my wife had experienced this while driving on Interstate 95, in Maryland. The vehicle stopped responding to the accelerator, so she pulled onto the shoulder, put the vehicle in park and turned it off. When she turned it back on, it was back in automatic mode, and she was able to resume driving. The technician and service manager advised that when this occurs, the vehicle can be returned to automatic mode by pulling the right paddle forward. That information does not appear in the vehicle manual, or on the Jeep website. The technician and service manager also advised that there is no way to disable the paddles to prevent the problem from repeating, Other drivers have experienced this. See [XXX] . I believe it is a serious safety problem. To that point, there is a pending safety recall -- NHTSA 23V- 412 (copy attached) -- that addresses loss of motive power for another reason. Here is the description in the recall notice: The transmission control module and the hybrid control processor on your vehicle [1] may experience loss of communication caused by diagnostic reactions to faults resulting in an engine shut down condition. Engine shut down may result in an unexpected loss of motive power while driving, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. The sudden enabling of the paddle shifter and resulting loss of motive power is also a safety issue that needs prompt attention. Nov 2023 STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE Vehicle completely shut off while driving down highway. Completely lost steering response and breaking response. There was absolutely no way to control the Vehicle. My daughter and I both thought we were going to crash and die. We live in Alaska and it's winter time so the road conditions aren't the best. It took about 10 to 15 seconds and everything came back on and started working again. I drove my vehicle straight to the dealership I bought it from and have demanded a buyback process. I haven't had it a year and even the hybrid heating coolant system has had to be replaced twice.

Nov 2023 EXTERIOR LIGHTING The contact rented a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he became aware that the running taillights were not functioning. After restarting the vehicle, it returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA Campaign Number 22V544000 (Exterior Lighting), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Nov 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER While on the highway, the 2 piece panoramic moonroof exploded. There was a loud pop, and then the glass shattered. There was no indication of any previous issue. The sun guard screen was open to let the light in, so the glass just fell into the car. A small, but unconfirmed observation from other drivers on the highway at the time, made me think the glass also fell unto the highway as the glass exploded away from the car. The dealership I took the car to was unable to confirm this was an explosion due to a defect or something hitting the car. However, I did not witness any object flying over head that would have dropped anything and nothing was found in the car. Only the dealership has looked at the Jeep so far. My insurance has been contacted to just let them know this occurred, but no claim has been filed as of 11/3/23.

The contact stated that the third-row driver’s and passenger’s side seat belt fasteners were not secure while using car seats. The contact stated that the car seats were not locked securely, and he was able to move the car seat 6'inches away from the seat. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,200.

Sep 2023 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE While I was driving with my family on a highway, I deployed the drive assist function that controls the speed of the car and keeps car in lane, out of a sudden the car itself deployed a sudden quick brake without any immenant risk in fron of me ( there was no car in front of my car for at least more than half a mile) this caused a very close threat from being hit by the cars behind me amd all of my family members to be scared and worried and even my wife blamed me for slamming the brakes without any reason. I have scheduled an appointment with the dealer in the coming weeks to have it looked at and fix a recent recall as well as look into another weird noise/sounds that I was complaining to the dealer about in the past but was unable to fix or replicate

Sep 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES In Hybrid mode, the transition from gas to battery power is clunky. It surges forward unpredictably and takes a bit to respond when the pedal is pressed. This erratic forward surge has happened several times, including once while my child was drinking water – which spilled all over him. The brakes are hard to modulate and are never consistent. When driving in e-save there is an awful engine noise. I typically only try to drive the vehicle in electric mode, but that only lasts to a point. At higher speeds and/or further acceleration, the gas engine kicks on- loudly- and without warning. There is no consistency in when to anticipate this abrupt change in how the vehicle drives as it happens at different intervals (ranging from 0%-3% battery left). This vehicle drives erratically, and I do not trust myself or my children riding in it. On top of this, there have been at least three safety recalls on this in three months. Therefore, I do not drive this vehicle unless necessary. Thus, $60,000 is basically parked in my garage with minimal to no use. I have even recently updated my insurance to reflect that it is not in use.

Sep 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was turning at an intersection when I got rear-ended. I do not recall the car stopping right before I got hit, but there is video that shows the my jeep stopped suddenly during the intersection right before I was rear-ended. It appears the oncoming car turning the opposite way got too close causing my automatic braking system to immediately stop my car while I was driving. There is no other explanation as to why the jeep just suddenly stopped as I know I did not press on the brakes myself.
