| Dec 2023 | STRUCTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | automatic parking brake does not engage. Brake is totally not functional | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Vehicle began to shake, buck and emit a grinding noise while traveling on highway resulting in loss of speed control and associated fear. Check engine light appeared simultaneously. No prior indication of a problem. Managed to limp to next exit via shoulder. Had car towed to dealer as warranty was still in effect. Problem was diagnosed as fuel injector failure and repaired. Learned it is a common, recurring issue with Hyundai 4 cylinder engine. Not unusual to have multiple failures per vehicle. Hyundai is only authorizing repair/replacement upon individual failures, not pre-emptive even though common and recurring. Confirmed this is a common, recurring issue across Hyundai via our local mechanic and internet info. Vehicle has now experienced a second failure and is being towed to dealer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | ENGINE | On 10/31 I loss power while on the freeway for the 2nd time since August. The car was assessed and fixed according to the dealership. My car threw a 2nd code which was cleared and not fixed due to not showing issues according to the dealership. I got my car back in mid November. I immediately complained that I still had a rough idle and was told my car was fine by the manager via service rep. On 11/28 my car loss power on the freeway again for the 3rd time since August. According to the codes, all my cylinders are failing one by one. This is a huge safety concern. The dealership could care less. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Phantom emergency braking occurred on two separate occasions a few months apart while traveling at 50-60 MPH for no reason. Almost rear ended. Flashing red zigzag alert stating “Emergency Braking”. Vehicle towed to dealership for inspection and diagnostics. Afraid to drive on freeway or highway. Dealership unable to reproduce or solve issue first time. Now at another dealership for inspection. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The horn is not working. I looked on google and it says that the manufacturer does not know about the problem and other cars are not working. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY | While driving on the freeway yesterday, my sunroof exploded above me. There was no rock or any evidence of anything hitting my car roof to make it explode it just happened out of no where. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | ENGINE | The issue with Hyundai 2.5 L turbocharged engines is getting a lot of exposure on-line. My story begins about a year ago with me complaining to the Hyundai service department about my 2022 Santa Fe Limited hesitating, lurching, and stalling (once) following acceleration from a complete stop, all without the Check Engine Light (CEL) illuminating (which the dealership said is needed to initiate troubleshooting). In addition, there is a common thread where dealerships are telling owners that it is "... probably bad gas." On 2 October 2023 the SUV started and was idling very rough, and as I drove off, the CEL illuminated (finally). After turning off the SUV for five minutes, it started fine with no CEL. My OBD-II code reader pulled three codes from the SUV that afternoon: P0300, P0301, and P0302 (Misfire - General, Misfire - Cylinder 1, and Misfire - Cylinder 2). The trouble codes should be sufficient for the service department to locate a problem, and to their credit I was placed in a loaner vehicle when I dropped the SUV off on 7 October 2023. So far (24 October), they have not identified a problem, even though there is a fuel injector Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for multiple Hyundai vehicles (including my Make/Model/Year) that may or may not apply to my specific vehicle. Bottom line: The vehicle is unsafe to drive (as I told the service manager), has had this problem for approximately one year, and if the vehicle stalls when I am entering traffic it is not going to end well - not for me in a stalled vehicle and not for Hyundai after they had an opportunity to address the problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | TIRES | See attached document from complainant | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Vehicle check engine light came On while driving and vehicle began misfiring. Vehicle was in the shop and injector was found defective. Vehicle again had same issue but intermittently and wife would have to pull over and shut down the car to be able to drive it safely home. Dealership tried blaming bad gas which was purchased a mile from dealership. Within 50 miles vehicle began acting the exact same way and Hyundai dealership says injector needs replaced but blaming contamination not a known issue Hyundai has with injectors. Found multiple instances of same issue and same made up issue of contaminated gasoline even at the same dealership I went to. Faulty injectors make the vehicle unsafe when traveling at highway speeds on busy highways. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | On several occasions now The vehicle is engaging the automatic emergency braking system for no reason. Several times I have been driving on the highway without a car in front of me and it engages the automatic emergency braking system. This has caused me to almost be rear-ended because my vehicle slammed on the brakes. I have almost been in several accidents now due to the automatic emergency braking activating for no reason and cars almost hitting me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | ENGINE | I have experienced a sudden loss of power when accelerating and then sudden vehicle slowdown and engine shutdown. Twice this occured at either hiway speed or accelerating to highway speeds. In both of these cases I easily could have caused or been involved in a serious crash. The third time happened on a city street and was not as egregious. There was no forewarning this might happen...no warning lights on the dash, etc. The vehicle is currently in a dealership service department after the last occurrence , and has been for five days with no knowledge of the current status. The prior times the dealership, Kolar Hyundai in Hermantown, Mn. has only cleared the error codes stored in the computer, but not identified a cause. The three times it was in the dealership were 2/15/22, 6/28/23, and 9/5/23. The second time it had to be towed in. The car currently has 9200 miles on the odometer. I am now afraid to drive it, as I consider the problem to be dangerous to my safety, as well as other vehicles. I have contacted Hyundai Customer Care, but received no response as of today. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | I was driving the vehicle my pregnant wife and 1 year old baby were in the car with me. Car started shaking and i was loosing speed right before getting off the freeway. There was a very strong smell of gas as if it was leaking but it was not. I have an appointment to be checked at the dealership Wednesday August 16th. This is the second time something like this happens while driving in the freeway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | POWER TRAIN | The vehicle started stalling on HWY and check engine light came on. I was trying to accelerate as other vehicles were catching up but it won't do that. After a while it did regain the power. We took the vehicle to Hyundai dealership in Roswell, GA and they reset the check engine light. They told us that it was OK to drive with solid check engine light. We need to pull over and call roadside assistance if check engine light starts to blink. We have an appointment for oil change on 8/18 and when we bring in the vehicle at that time, ask them to do the diagnostics. Even yesterday, the car started to stall. Reported the incident to Hyundai case # 21849832. Error code on dash - P1C2D03 | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER | This is the second time my windshield has received a small chip and it spreads to the nearest end of the windshield then within 24 hours spreads across windshield | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The rubber seal around the windshield is pulling apart and does not remain in the track. When I am driving greater than 30 miles per hour, the rubber seal comes out and flaps in the wind. Regarding my safety or the safety of others: I believe it exposes the security of the windshield which could become loose, crack or fall out. In addition, when it rains water could seep through and cause electrical issues. April 10, 2023 brought vehicle and showed issue, rubber secured. Advised normal. Issue continued. Brought vehicle to South Shore Hyundai dealer on 29/06/2023 and was advised it was fixed, on my way home the same issue resurfaced. Returned vehicle to dealership on Saturday 22 July 2023 for further analysis. Currently awaiting outcome of analysis from certified technician. I am seeking your help to investigate this issue of the broken seal, as I am concerned that maybe my vehicle may not be an isolated case and may require you to contact Hyundai America to investigate and resolve the problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | While driving on highway on July 17, 2023, 2022 Sante Fe with less than 12,000 miles driven , suddenly lost power, RPM racing back and forth, and would not exceed 40 mph despite gas peddle to floor. Eventually was able to reach 60 mph, until reaching a slight incline where it dropped to 40 mph. I was seriously concerned I was going to cause an accident with several large trucks being forced to rapidly slow down behind me as lft lane was occupied by other vehicles. This is the second such incident. In October 2022, less than I month after I purchased vehicle new from dealership, vehicle suddenly lost power climbing a hill on a two-lane hiway with multiple vehicles not far behind me. I was terrified for fear of being hit from behind as this highway is curvy, heavily traveled, and bordered on one side with drops between 75-100 feet to the river below. The vehicle slowed to 30 mph despite trying to downshift/upshift pressing accelerator. There was no room to pull off road so I continued at 30 mph, trailing numerous vehicles until reaching top of hill where vehicle seemed to recover. Since I only owned vehicle for a few weeks I thought it was something I had done until I received a recall notice. Second incident above ocurred after vehicle had been serviced for recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | I had previously filed a complaint and received an issue number 11494975 I have not been able to retrieve any information related to this number. In any event I am constantly having problems with acceleration, stalling, the car puts itself in Neutral, and on occasion has completely turned itself off at a light or while driving. I do have a video of the acceleration problem and revived an email back from Laura Nelson. This is a very serious safety issue. Hyundai is not responding to following up. I also took it to an outside mechanic to put in the computer and got a general code so there is a problem somewhere. Thank you Susan Piller | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | Backed into something at my son's school due to inoperable rear collision sensor, causing damage to the lift gate. there were/are no warning messages. My husband almost hit a car backing out of our driveway due to same issue. We are taking the car to the dealer for inspection | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY | On FRI 30JUN23 while driving across country in out 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe with a panoramic sun roof with our daughter, who was on her first trip after battling brain cancer, experienced the unthinkable. Wile driving down the highway states away from home we heard a deafening explosion with glass raining inside the vehicle almost causing us to veer off the road. Upon expecting the source of the glass in was discovered that the sunroof had exploded. Were lucky to have had the shade closed at the time of the incident preventing glass to fly in the face of my daughter who was sitting in the back seat. The incident left us stranded at a Hyundai dealer in Fayetteville Arkansas forcing us to rent a vehicle to complete our tip while waiting for repairs. We were informed by the dealer that this is a known issue and to keep a window cracked to prevent pressure from building up in the vehicle. This is a searious safety issue that needs to be addressed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | On three separate occasions over 18 months, the car has entered into front collision avoidance mode by unexpectedly swerving the vehicle and braking. Twice I was on the tollway doing 70 mph on a 4 lane expressway and I drove in between two tractor/trailer semis. When I reached mid point, the car braked heavy on it's own and swerved first the right, then to left. In each incident, not only did it scare the hell out of me, I thanked god I avoided a major accident from crashing into the trucks and or being hit from behind. In the third incident (date of this complaint) I was driving over train tracks on two lane road at about 35-40 mph, there were yellow black traffic barriers dividing the narrow roadway at the tracks and the car suddenly braked and swerved, nearly getting me rear ended and putting me down into the culvert around the tracks. In each incident it was difficult to take control of the car back from the collision avoidance. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | POWER TRAIN,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | First the check engine light was on and the vehicle was vibrating really bad and making a loud sound. Took it to the Hyundai dealership which claimed to repair the issue. While on my home from the dealership ( Hyundai of Slidell), which was almost hours away, the vehicle lost power while driving. Later, multiple lights were illuminated on the dashboard including the epb, auto hold, forward collision, blind spot, check engine, and oil light. The vehicle is currently back at the dealership. Hyundai has been notified numerous times about the issue. This is a safety issue that needs to be resolved. Although there are no current recalls for this issue everything Im experiencing with my vehicle are the same issues reported in previous recalls. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Took the vehicle in for a recall of the trailer tow hitch and was told it would be fixed free of charge. I also got an oil change. Once the work was complete, I was informed that they are unable to fix it and there is no remedy available currently. The consultant told me that the vehicle is at risk of catching on fire while driving and/or parked so I should not park it in my garage. I now have a vehicle that can catch on fire at anytime which is dangerous for myself, any passengers and anyone in the vicinity of the car when it is parked. There is no warning light that came on in the car notifying me of the recall problem and I fear there will also be no warning light when/if it catches on fire. There is not estimated time that a remedy will be available and I believe this to be unacceptable. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES | Backed out of my driveway yesterday morning on way to work, 5/17/23. Driving down my street approx 15 mph to stop sign. As i approached stop sign I pressed on my brakes to stop and my car would not stop, it immediately accelerated and proceeded toward my neighbors house which was directly in front of me. I kept hitting the brakes and it would not stop. I was able to steer away from the home, went up the curb/lawn hit a couple of cable boxes and finally hit a pretty large oak tree on the same neighbors lawn. the car was still running on impact. Had major damage done to automobile (tire blow out/rim dented/front end damage) luckily i was in my neighborhood where the speed limit is 20mph. I had the car towed to Hyundai dealership and am waiting upon inspection and the result of what caused the accident. As of now they have not given me a diagnoses. they keep wanting to say it was driver error, which is completely incorrect. I did obtain a video from my neighbor which doesn't quite show what happened but the sound on the video you can hear the engine accelerate and than right after you can hear the crash impact. I do not want to drive this suv I do not feel safe whether they fix it or not. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | Unknown |
| May 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced phantom braking with the Emergency Braking message displayed. Additionally, the vehicle lost motive power while driving. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and had the vehicle towed to the dealer; however, no failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 38,955. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 38,955 |
| Apr 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Multiple warning lights came on . Then loss power to the transmission. First time was in July of 2022 less than 2000 miles on it . Almost an accident! Towed to dealer basically did nothing! A few months later went in for oil change they did update to transmission software . Loss power to transmission again 4/8/23 with 7500 on it . This time warning lights came on and loss power to transmission at 55 MPH !Towed to a Hyundai dealership Cleared code and said nothing they could do! Except fixed a recall on the trailer hitch harness. I know there are recalls for this 8 speed dual clutch transmission on other Hyundai vehicles ,but not on my vehicle. Recall number 22V746099 I don’t feel this vehicle is safe for my wife to drive . It’s been sitting in my garage since I got it back from dealership the last time. This recall needs to be expanded!!! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
