Nov 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER 2022 Ridgeline is only a few months old. After driving one day for ~100 miles on interstate, then exiting interstate to get on on-ramp going in other direction, the vehicle suddenly displayed a flashing "check engine" light, has noticeably reduced power, and an odd-sounding engine. I was able to slowly drive to a nearby gas station where I restarted the vehicle and the symptoms went away. I had my local Honda dealer look at the vehicle and they were unable to find any error codes. Their response was essentially "no code, no problem" and advised me to drive it until something goes wrong again, and shows something they will diagnose. This vehicle has less than 8,000 total miles and has had its initial service done by Honda dealer, as well as another bill of health when I just took it in for this engine issue. I'm reporting this case in particular because I'm very concerned that this will happen while driving on the highway and be a serious safety issue with the drastically reduced power. Perhaps most importantly, I am reporting this because there are forums full of other people with newer Honda Ridgelines experiencing the exact same issue - repeatedly - without any acknowledgement from Honda.

Nov 2022 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE This vehicle randoml activates the forward collision warning braking system. Cannot deactivate. ACC will not follow vehicle in front at selected distance. The Honda will accelerate at high speed until right on bumper of vehicle in front and then slam on brake. It will then drift back quite a ways and then repeat. Extremely dangerous to us Honda dealer acknowledges issue and say there is no fix for these. Auto Hi beams are a joke. Random on/off. Again a dangerous feature to try to use. These are not one time events as portrayed in Additional Details section

Nov 2022 EXTERIOR LIGHTING The automatic high beams randomly come on when cars are approaching and or cars are in front which has resulted in a few very upset drivers in the vehicles that end up getting the high beams in their eyes or rear view mirror.

Nov 2022 EXTERIOR LIGHTING When I activate the auto high beam feature on my Ridgeline, it does not ever work properly. The high beams will go off almost immediately once a road sign reflects on the sensor. This feature is totally unreliable and is actually a safety hazard because of how often it deactivates when on the roadway even though there is no traffic coming in either direction. It rarely reactivates when traveling on the highway.

Nov 2022 EXTERIOR LIGHTING Automatic high beams on this vehicle are unreliable and constantly flash oncoming traffic. High beams will turn on and off in succession multiple times. The system is unusable and potentially dangerous for oncoming traffic.

Nov 2022 EXTERIOR LIGHTING The automatic highbeams do not work as intended. They sometimes blind oncoming traffic and other times not switch to high for better driver visibility.

Nov 2022 EXTERIOR LIGHTING The automatic high beam does not work. When activated it will not turn on the high beams on a dark road with no other lights in view. I had a 2019 Ridgeline that worked fine, so I know how to use the feature.

Oct 2022 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The Honda Sense forward facing radar that causes the dash to show BRAKE and also brake on your behalf is poorly implemented and comes on in varying conditions... from two lane roads to no cars on the road at all. I live in an area with many two way windy roads and any car coming towards you, the car, believes is an issue and the BRAKE warning light, a sound and a quiver of the steering wheel occurs. There has been two incidents where there is no other car on the road and the Ridgeline shows the BRAKE warning light and then actually braked the car heavily. If there was a car behind me, it would have caused an accident. Honda needs to remove this feature altogether until it can handle all road conditions. Three separate service advisors, (Shingle Springs, Folsom and Santa Monica) have heard multiple complaints and issues and have their own personal experience with this problem in Honda/Acura's.

Oct 2022 EXTERIOR LIGHTING The automatic high beam headlights do not operate correctly. When in auto mode, on a dark road with no other light sources, they will go to high mode for a second or two and drop back to low beam for no reason at all. they keep doing that at random intervals. They will go from low beam and go to high mode when cars are approaching within 100 yards. pretty sure the other car does not like that. they work fine when by passed by placing them in high mode by pushing turn signal stick forward. it's in the auto mode when they don't act right. i took the '22 to Couer D'Alene Honda and they checked them and said they were working as they were supposed to. this concerns me since i had a '18 Honda ridgeline and they did work fine in auto mode. i feel this is a safety issue for me and others on the road at night.

Oct 2022 EXTERIOR LIGHTING Purchased a new Honda RTL-E Ridgeline 3 days ago... Traded in a 2017.. Both have auto high beam feature.. The 2022 is erratic, at times fails to operate (engage the high beams even after surpassing the 45 MPH cut in speed. In addition to that, the high beams fail to remain on even when there is no oncoming traffic or fail to disengage etc.. This is not caused by ambient outside light or reflections off road signage, as I know how they worked and worked very well on my 2017.. The defective system create a major safety hazard as they almost always fail to turn off with oncoming traffic.. So drivers are blinded by High Beams and the driver of the Ridgeline expects them to turn off, hesitates expecting them to work before they realize they are not going to turn off... This not only impacts the on coming driver, but could be a good road rage problem, cause an accident and lastly cause the driver to be issued a ticket. if the oncoming vehicle, is coming around a bend and there is a perfect alignment of the two vehicles they must turn off, but they don't , blinding the oncoming driver. They do not work period and are a serious safety hazard.. Honda needs to resolve this ASAP..

Oct 2022 TRAILER HITCHES I purchased this truck in early September 2022 brand new. I was towing my ATV RZR on my trailer. Total weight about 3000 lbs. The truck tow is rated at 5000lbs. I noticed the trailer was acting or moving around abnormally. When I arrived home I noticed the trailer hitch was bent down about 45 degrees. In examining the hitch I noticed it had broken away from the frame. The hitch or receiving end was verily attached to the truck. With further examination and looking at a similar truck's hitch I discovered the hitch had never been welded from the factory. It is a miracle the trailer I was pulling did not brake free and kill another driver on the road. In the photos I am uploading one is how the hitch should look (photo 133526) the others are photos of my hitch. If you compare the good hitch to my hitch you will see there is no weld around the receiving tube.

Sep 2022 EXTERIOR LIGHTING Auto high beams consistently fail to turn on or off at appropriate times, rendering them unreliable and unsafe. I was forced to disable them because of several incidents in which they failed to stay on while driving on dark rural roads or failed to turn off with oncoming traffic.

Jul 2022 EXTERIOR LIGHTING Honda eliminated the dedicated automatic high beam camera and moved the functionality into the shared "multi-purpose" camera that is also used for Honda Sensing features and raised the activation speed. These changes not only ruined the automatic high beam function, but made it dangerous at times. The automatic high beams rarely work in my neighborhood which has zero street lamps and I was told by the dealer that it is supposed to operate that way.

Jul 2022 POWER TRAIN Issue: transmission would not shift from 1st gear. After running an errand, started vehicle, reversed from parking place, pressed D/S button and proceeded to street entrance. After waiting a bit, I merged onto street and accelerated, but transmission would not shift from 1st gear; engine was running a very high RPM. Traffic behind me moved to inside lane to avoid my vehicle. I released accelerator and transmission shifted to slightly higher gear but would not shift again. Engine RPM was still very high at low vehicle speed. I pressed the D/S transmission button again, and this restored the transmission to normal operation. This malfunction put me and the vehicles behind me in danger of collision. The problem occured on Friday 22nd July 2022. Vehicle has 780 miles on odometer. I have not consulted dealer or other organizaton. There were no warning lamps, messages or audible alarms.

May 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The wireless charging pad does not work properly. I’ve tested with 3 different Apple iPhones and they will start to charge for a few seconds, then it will stop changing. Sometimes it will resume charging for a few seconds and then stop again. I’ve seen videos online of others who are experiencing the same issue with both 2021 and 2022 Honda vehicles (issue not exclusive to the Ridgeline).

Apr 2022 LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES The contact owns a 2022 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated the tailgate lock security feature was not operating as designed, allowing a toxic odor to enter the cabin of the vehicle from the truck bed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 190.

Apr 2022 EXTERIOR LIGHTING My vehicle has automatic high beam headlights. They do not function properly - they will cycle on and off when there is no traffic ahead or oncoming, but most seriously they often fail to dim when there is oncoming traffic. This issue appears to be endemic with the 2022 Honda Ridgeline, many users report the same.

Mar 2022 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I bought a new 2022 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E February 2022. Drove it 100 miles and was driving down the road 40 mph with no one in front or behind. The brake warning light came on and the ABS locked up. The dash lit up and said "Collision Mitigation System Problem". The same CMS failure happened a half dozen times until I got it home. I took it to the dealership the next morning and on a test drive, the same thing happened to their service manager after resetting the system. They said the vehicle was not safe to drive. They kept it and are trying to get a radar sending unit but there are none. They have had the truck for almost 4 weeks. I have since read about this same failure mode going back to the 2017 model year.

Mar 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Factory wireless charger. Available for inspection upon request. Unsafe conditions created when wireless charging failed during a drive causing driver to be distracted by misbehaving equipment. Trying to readjust phone was distracting. Problem reproduced at dealer. Dealer declined to repair/replace equipment. Dealer advised iPhone 12 mini silicone case was interfering with the charging. Removed case, but bare phone did not resolve the issue. Replaced phone with brand new iPhone 13. New phone exhibits same behavior. Charger charges for a few seconds, then stops and led indicator blinks. Then charges for a few seconds, and fails again. iPhone started to get real hot so I turned off the wireless charger.
