| Apr 2025 | POWER TRAIN | About five weeks ago I decided I was going to take my kids to the park. Well, when we got there our vehicle wouldn’t go out of park and was stuck with a check engine light on and an emission light on. So, we had to tow it to Honda and they didn’t have a loaner vehicle for us while they were diagnosing the vehicle so we were without a vehicle for three days and then was called by Honda to come get the car that they cleared the check engine light and it’s drivable. Was told we would need a new transmission if the car check engine light comes on again. So, of course the light comes back on the next day. I don’t believe it needs a new transmission. No signs that it does. So I called the dealership and they wouldn’t answer , all departments went to voice mail. So, I called Honda corporate, and they wouldn’t answer next day thw dealership calls me asking me when I can bring the car back up there. So I brought it up there and got into a loaner this time for three weeks now. Was told last week our car is good to go and I can come pick it up and once I got there the check engine light and emission light was still on so they lied to us The corporate office won’t approve a good will transmission because of documentations that they should already have but don’t. And Duval Honda told us to bring the loaner back or they are gonna report it as an unauthorized use of the vehicle which we prolly put me in jail so I asked the gm at Duval Honda if he can at least extend it till the in of the week so we can figure something out since we have jobs and kids and no way of any transportation that he is gonna put us on the streets far as walking and he could careless and told us to get a rental car and if we don’t turn the car in then he will report it. So now we are car less. This car is a lease and we never missed a car payment and we had a car before this one which was a lease and never missed a payment as well. The contact stated that he was told by the other driver to take the vehicle to a dealer. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the battery was replaced; however, the failure persisted. On a separate occasion, while the vehicle was being driven at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the shock absorbers were repaired, and the screen was repaired, and the transmission was inspected. The failure reoccurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was taken back to the residence. The contact stated that the brakes were making abnormal sounds. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. I have had this happen , engine stalling, twice on my 2022 Pilot. Reported the first incident to Honda dealer service and they said might be related to a software glitch, didn't think of it as any problem even though engine warning signal came on and I had to pull off the highway and stop engine and restart after several minutes. That solved the issue. Most recently this January the same thing happened again, lost power and engine light came on. Again I had to pull off the highway as I had no power to go over 30-35mph, could not resume speed limit to 55mph. Vehicle completely stalled in traffic and would no longer accelerate. Vehicle had to get pushed out of traffic and towed to Honda dealership. Honda service department replaced the transmission saying that was the issue and reason the vehicle engine was stalling. Vehicle has continually stalled but not as severe as the first time throughout the year of 2024. It is now 2025 and vehicle is progressively stalling more frequently. My vehicle has done up to 35,000 mileages. On Friday, [XXX] as I was driving on the highway, this vehicle suddenly stopped without warning. All the lights on the dashboard came up and I received 5 messages indicating that the following had problems: Emission System, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Electric Power Steering, Transmission System, and Adaptive Cruise Control. This is a very dangerous and life-threatening hard stop that occurred in the middle of the highway, and I had to tow the vehicle to the DACARS Honda Dealership in Bowie, Maryland. I must state that my service history is up to date as of the time of this incident. The dealership carried out a diagnosis and confirmed all the problems from the messages that I received and agreed to fix them because the vehicle is still under Manufacturer's Warranty. I am really concerned about the safety of this vehicle and the lives of other owners and road users who may not be as lucky as I was on [XXX]. I recommend a very detailed safety evaluation on this Model of Honda and if possible, immediately instruct the replacement of all the safety problems/parts listed above pending the outcome of this investigation/evaluation, and ultimately instruct a recall of this model of Honda.
