May 2026 AIR BAGS The contact owns a 2022 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver side air bag deployed however, the vehicle was not in a crash. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

May 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I went to open back tailgate with key fob, no sound or anything - tailgate did not open. I tried inside vehicle buttons for back tailgate and would not respond - no sounds or anything. Nothing was obstructing the back gate on the outside or interior of vehicle to prevent it from opening. I found a video of a 2021 Odyssey having water leaks into the car from the sliding door and rusts the power module causing it to short. So, my husband opened the back fuse box and got into the back panel and removed and sure enough there is water damage to the module. It is about $400 to replace and it is only a Honda dealership part. This is a safety issue because there is no way to manually open back tailgate in case of an emergency. If water is slowly leaking and causing corrosion, this needs to be fixed by Honda.

Apr 2026 SUSPENSION When vehicle was stopped, a loud metallic snap occurred and the back end of the minivan rocked. Van was taken in to get checked and the rear driver spring was broken. Both rear springs and shocks were replaced. Vehicle only has 51,054 miles and mechanics said springs should last much longer. Also, same day that this van was take in for service, the mechanics told me that another 2022 Honda Odyssey had just come in with the exact same problem.

Apr 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER I am reporting a recurring and dangerous failure of the infotainment system and electrical control in my vehicle. The following issues occur intermittently but frequently: Safety Camera Failure: The center display screen often goes black, causing the backup camera and side-view cameras to fail completely. This occurs while the vehicle is in reverse, creating a significant blind-spot hazard and risk of collision. I specifically visited the dealership in early June 2025 to inquire about this issue—and I have video evidence to prove it—yet the electronic fault "magically disappeared" (an intermittent issue) when the vehicle was inspected on-site. Despite this, the dealership still charged me a $300 diagnostic fee. Total System Freeze: The GPS navigation, audio system, and all center console controls frequently stop responding or shut down entirely while driving, causing significant driver distraction. Power Management Defect: Most critically, the infotainment system and audio often fail to shut off even after the engine is turned off and the vehicle is locked. This parasitic draw continues until the 12V battery is completely drained, leaving the vehicle stranded and potentially creating an electrical fire hazard. On 03/20/2026, the infotainment system failed to shut down after the engine was turned off, which completely drained the battery. I had to call AAA for roadside assistance to tow/jump-start the vehicle to the dealership. I have a video recording of the system staying powered on while the vehicle was off. Furthermore, I just replaced the 12V battery with a brand new one in February 2026, confirming that this is a parasitic draw caused by a vehicle defect and not a faulty battery. I am unable to upload videos here, but I reserve the right to present them.

Apr 2026 LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Hello I am reporting a safety concern involving a 2022 Honda Odyssey EX-L that was involved in an accident and declared a total loss. During the incident, I was driving in snowy conditions at approximately 50 mph while entering a split lane. The vehicle began to skid, and shortly afterward I observed warning indicators activating. It appeared that vehicle safety systems, including stability or braking systems, engaged automatically. Over the next several seconds, I attempted to regain control by applying the brakes multiple times and making steering corrections. However, the vehicle did not respond as expected. Despite these inputs, the vehicle continued toward the shoulder and ultimately impacted a barrier. I was unable to regain effective steering control during this period. This raises concern about the behavior and response of vehicle safety systems, including ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), and related driver-assist features during loss-of-traction conditions. Additionally, I became aware of a recall affecting similar model years related to unintended or improper curtain airbag deployment due to system sensitivity. Given that my vehicle falls within this model range, I believe it is important to evaluate whether system behavior may have contributed to the incident. I am requesting that this incident be reviewed as a potential safety issue and considered alongside similar reports to determine whether further investigation is warranted.

Apr 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER he driver-side power seat adjustment system is malfunctioning. When attempting to adjust the seat position, the seat adjustment motor can be heard running; however, the seat frequently becomes stuck and does not move as intended. At times, only one side of the seat moves during adjustment, causing the seat to shift unevenly or become misaligned. This condition affects the ability to properly adjust the driving position and may impact driver comfort and control of the vehicle, which could pose a safety risk while operating the vehicle. The problem occurs intermittently during normal seat adjustment. UNKNOWN if the issue has been reproduced or formally confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The component should be available for inspection upon request. No warning lights or messages were observed prior to or during the occurrence of this issue.

Apr 2026 AIR BAGS The right side airbags deployed without any damage or accident occurring to the vehicle. The safety of the driver and backseat passenger was put at risk because the airbags deployed without any warning and completely disabled the vehicle forcing us to the side of the road and trapping the backseat passenger who was in a wheelchair. The vehicle has been assessed by police and reported there was no damage done to the vehicle. The dealership has evaluated and reported there was no reason the airbags should have deployed. An SRS light would come on frequently. Dealership said it was a wiring issue but no permanent fix was ever made or recommended.

Apr 2026 AIR BAGS The contact owns a 2022 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while their wife was driving approximately 50 -55 MPH, the front passenger side air bag and the curtain air bag, which were expanded from the front passenger seat to the rear passenger seat, suddenly deployed without impact. The sudden deployment caused the driver to immediately stop the vehicle to avoid a further incident. The contact stated their wife had informed them of a pot hole being in the road; however, they could not confirm if the air bags deployed after driving over the pot hole specifically. The driver pulled to the side of the road, and the local police were contacted. A police report was filed. The contact stated that two children had received injuries, one child received a bruise and swelling to the side of their head, and the other child received bruising and scratches to their arms. The contact's wife received bruising and whiplash from the incident. The other two children in the vehicle at the time of the incident received mild whiplash. Medical attention was needed. The vehicle was towed to a body shop, where a mechanic confirmed that no impact had occurred and was unable to diagnose the cause of failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

Mar 2026 ENGINE My 2022 Honda Odyssey experienced a sudden catastrophic engine failure at approximately 154,000 miles while driving under normal conditions. The failure involved the vehicle’s engine and resulted in a loud knocking noise followed by loss of engine power and the vehicle becoming inoperable. The Honda dealership diagnosed the engine as having internal engine failure with metal contamination present in the oil, indicating severe internal engine damage. Based on the symptoms and the diagnosis, the failure appears consistent with possible connecting rod or connecting rod bearing failure. The failed engine remains installed in the vehicle and should be available for inspection upon request. Prior to the failure there were no warning lights or messages, and the oil pressure warning light never illuminated. The vehicle had proper oil levels and no indication of low oil pressure before the failure occurred. A sudden internal engine failure that causes loss of engine power while driving presents a safety concern because it can occur without warning and may leave the driver unable to maintain speed or safely maneuver in traffic, particularly at highway speeds. The problem has been confirmed by a Honda dealership, which documented the condition as internal engine failure with metal contamination in the oil and advised that the engine must be replaced. The estimated repair cost exceeds 6,000. The manufacturer has been notified of the failure through a customer assistance case, but the vehicle has not been physically inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. This complaint is being submitted to document the sudden internal engine failure and possible connecting rod bearing failure in case similar failures are occurring in other vehicles equipped with the same engine design.

Dec 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The glass sunroof exploded on our 2022 Honda Odyssey. No prior issues, dents, etc., serviced consistently by the local dealership. While driving on the highway an explosion sound occurred overhead. No overpasses were nearby, nor were any projectiles witnessed. Thankfully, the interior sunroof shade was completely closed, preventing the thousands of pieces of broken glass from falling into the vehicle. Thankfully, we were also able to avoid an accident in the moment. Talked to local dealership and Honda Americas. Both simply said I was out of warranty, even though this is a massive safety failure. A simple google search will show this is a known issue across Honda Odyssey sunroofs, Honda CRV back windshields and Honda HRV back windshields. All of these cars should be recalled.

Nov 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE The idle start stop feature constantly doesn’t work on our 2022 Honda Odyssey Touring. When stopped at a light or stop sign the engine will turn off COMPLETELY, causing me to have to put the car in park and restart the car. Also, sometimes the van will start, sometimes it won't. I replaced the battery and now it starts but it is still turning itself off in traffic. There have been several incidents where this is during rush hour traffic causing traffic jams and we have been very close to being rear ended. Sometimes I have to wait a few minutes before it will actually turn over. This is EXTREMELY unsafe and should be addressed by Honda with a FREE fix for all owners. I've taken it to the dealership and, after scanning my VIN, told that my specific Odyssey doesn't have any open recalls or service bulletins... Seems every other Odyssey does, just not mine? For the EXACT SAME PROBLEM???

Nov 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The liftgate on my vehicle stopped functioning in March 2024, one month after the warranty expired. On June 24, 2025, the vehicle underwent a power tailgate unit replacement and water leak repair at Ocean Honda of Brockton. Water had leaked into the tailgate unit and caused it to short out. The total cost for this repair was $1,776.18. I have attached a copy of the paid service repair summary and proof of payment. My primary concern, beyond the financial burden, is the inherent safety risk posed by this malfunction. As a parent of three children, we specifically chose the Honda Odyssey for its reputation for safety and reliability as a family vehicle. A power tailgate unit that can fail due to water infiltration presents a serious hazard, as it could cause the tailgate to unexpectedly open while the vehicle is in motion. This could lead to items falling out onto the road, creating a dangerous road hazard for other drivers, or potentially compromising the safety of passengers if the vehicle is involved in an accident. Right before the tailgate stopped working, we noticed a "low battery" warning upon starting the van. This is probably due to the electrical short. I sent a letter to American Honda Motor Company on July 2, 2025, detailing the issue, but have yet to hear a response.

Nov 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING On October 31, 2025, I brought my vehicle to the dealer for several issues, including an Auto Engine Idle Stop System problem, a memory seat malfunction, and other concerns that were discussed with the service advisor and are listed in the invoice. I was charged almost $1,000, including a new battery. Initially, some of the problems appeared to be resolved, but shortly after the service, the Auto Engine Idle Stop System problem reappeared, and the memory seat stopped working again. Even more concerning, a new and dangerous issue began immediately after the repair: while driving at night, the headlights suddenly turn off for a few seconds and then turn back on, and the “Auto Engine Idle Stop System Problem” warning appears at the same time. This issue never occurred before the dealer performed the repair. This situation is extremely unsafe, especially when driving in dark conditions with my family. I contacted the dealership through their “Contact Us” form on November 2, 2025, and again via live chat on November 5, 2025. I was told that someone would reach out to me, but as of November 9, 2025, I have received no response.

Oct 2025 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The Honda High Pressure Fuel Pump Recall is an ongoing and critical safety campaign impacting numerous Honda and Acura models primarily from the 2017-2022 model years. The defective fuel pump component can fail unexpectedly, causing sudden loss of engine power while driving, significantly increasing the risk of a crash or fire. I am the manager and co-owner in an automotive mechanic workshop in Miami, and in the last year several Honda Odyssey have arrived at my workshop with this problem with the high-pressure fuel pump. All of these cars were manufactured in 2022 and 2023. Symptoms begin after accumulating more than 80,000 miles traveled. The main symptoms are: Problems and delay when starting, loss of power, vibration, noise and tapping of the fuel lines at the inlet of the engine. This vibration and noise are felt much louder from inside the cabin, because the fuel lines are attached to the fire wall of the engine compartment. High fuel consumption, reducing the autonomy of the vehicle up to about 12 to 14 miles per gallon, when the Odyssey has a proven autonomy between 19 and 21 miles per gallon under normal conditions. Strong smell of fuel. The vibration increases by increasing the revolutions per minute of the engine, causing the connections of the fuel lines to suffer deterioration, cracking and loss of pressure, causing fuel leaks that could be the main cause of fire of the engine and the vehicle, in turn putting the life of the driver and his occupants at risk. For a few weeks I wanted to submit this request for extension of Recall to Honda for the Odyssey models of the years 2022 and 2023 through the NHTSA. But it was not until today that I decided to do it because I also own a 2022 Honda Odyssey EX-L with more than 90,000 accumulated miles, just 2 weeks ago my vehicle began to present all these symptoms mentioned above.

Sep 2025 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was at a 4 way stop on a quiet street, I stopped and then proceeded to move forward. As I was moving forward, in the middle of the intersection, the automatic emergency braking system activated which slammed on my brakes, involuntarily, in the middle of the intersection. There were no hazards in front of me that the vehicle would have detected as being a cause for braking. Thankfully, no one was coming through the intersection at the time from the perpendicular sides or else I would have been hit. The braking was so forceful that it caused my phone, that was sitting in my lap to be flung to the floor and was ripped from the charging cord with force. Additionally, to show the force, I had books sitting on the passenger seat that all got thrown to the floor with the impact of the braking system.
