Nov 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 2022 HRV battery is draining while parked. I have had the new car for 2 years, low mileage with no problems until this past month October/November 2023 the battery has drained 3 times. Honda of Frankfort, KY replaced the battery (said it was defective). The car worked fine for a couple of weeks, then the battery drained again yesterday, November 13, 2023. I had it towed to Frankfort, Ky Neil Huffman Honda yesterday. I have had a tow company come to the car 3 times in the past month. The problem is probably not the battery, but something is draining the battery. Definitely a safety issue if car will not start when it is needed. No warning lights came on.

Nov 2023 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Use this vehicle as a daily commuter for work/school/other personal trips in good faith it would be a solid, reliable car. Had it since February 2022, brand new right off the lot no issues. One morning driving to work, the tire pressure, parking brake, and check engine light indicators all come on while I'm on the highway. I exit to an off ramp and pull into a parking lot to go through the different gears and everything seems okay, so I proceed to return to my commute. Start coming to a stop light at an intersection and the vehicle stalls completely as I decelerate. I go to start the vehicle again as I'm in an active lane of traffic and it won't start. Try starting it again and it starts but the parking brake is fully engaged (not by me setting it but the vehicle self-engaged it) and I can't move the vehicle as it won't dis-engage the parking brake when I hit the gas. I had to get it towed to the dealership and mechanics told me later it was a fuel canister failure, and it isn't uncommon for the sensor in that element to fail which certainly didn't inspire great comfort. I drive it 5 miles after they assured me it was taken care of and all the same indicators come back on. Return to the dealership and they re-assessed the issue is farther down near the tank. Been driving it since the second repair attempt and so far no issues. Very disappointed and hesitant about this model's safety and reliability especially hearing about the rear-differential investigation and others having it decelerate at highway speeds suddenly. As this is my first car, I had hoped this was the right choice and would be solid for years to come, but now I question whether I trust the HRV model and Honda in general.

Sep 2023 ENGINE Engine failed to start when turning the key in the ignition. Occurred three separate occasions within 30 days @ 18,000. Engine light and electronic steering system lights remained on. Vehicle started after waiting one hour. On the third occasion, the car was towed to the dealer, and a service advisor experienced the same issue. However, 30 minutes later, a mechanic was able to start the engine at every attempt. There were no warning lights, other than the lights remaining on the dashboard when attempting to turn the key. (I have video of the experience - please see photo). I am submitting this notice because on all 3 occasions, Honda dealer performed diagnostics, but could not find an issue that caused the failed start. I was reluctant to keep a car with a problem that statistically would reoccur in the future, or perhaps might experience an even worse electrical problem. The dealer "bought" the car back, and sold me a 2024 - same model. There were some additional costs and of course the interest rate was higher. I agreed to all of the conditions for the new purchase, and I believe the dealer did right by me with the purchase of the newer model. HOWEVER, 3 days after I purchased the 2024 HR-V, the dealer put the 2022 HR-V on the lot and is attempting to resell it. I find this wrong and possibly a risk to the new owner. I have every reason to believe the issue for the faulty electrical system was not discovered over the short time (3 days) from when I turned in the car, and when I saw it on the lot for resell. Other than the electrical issue, the vehicle was very reliable and I took very good care with it. If not for anticipating the problem would reoccur when I was driving or wouldn't start in an emergency, or perhaps reoccur after the warranty expired, I traded it in to the dealer and purchased a new 2024 model. Thank you.

May 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I purchased the vehicle on 2/17/22 and shortly afterwards started noticing problems starting with acceleration car wouldn’t go past 45 mph or lower. The car radio system has static can’t get reception; the battery died requiring a jump. On 9/21/22 and January 10, 2023 I took car to dealer about these problems and other concerns and they said couldn’t verify my concerns. On 5/9/23 I set out for my first long distance trip from Vallejo CA, to Las Vegas NV after driving approximately 200-300 miles the dashboard light up light a Christmas tree with several system problem warnings as follow: Power Steering System (EPS) problem, Road Departure Mitigation, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) problem, Emissions System problem, All Wheel Drive System problem, Brake System problem, Brake Hold system problem, Hill Start Assist problem, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) continuously flashing, Hold Brake light, Oil light flashing and the Drivers and Front Passenger Airbag light flashing. I had to stop in Los Angeles CA, Honda service center and they couldn’t do a diagnostic test that day and warning lights went off after technician disabled the Road departure mitigation system and was told it was safe to continue on to Vegas. However, all warning light as mentioned came back on and remained on. I took the car to Honda West in Vegas on 5/11/23 and was told car had a misfiring code. Diagnostic test performed and multiple repair codes were detected but they couldn’t duplicate concerns, took fuel sample test and it passed, cleared DTCs performed final test verified no DTCs returned or currently present/stored and they returned car to me. On 5/15/23 left Vegas and the same system warning lights came back on, stopped in Los Angeles again and stayed overnight and the lights were off the next morning. I took vehicle to Avery Green Honda after speaking to Sales Manager Sean Shahid where the car remains to date for further diagnostic testing.

Apr 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM This exact message was displayed on the infotainment screen when i started my car on march 9th 2023, march 15th and march 25th. The first time it happened i took the car back to the dealer as I had just picked it up from them approximately 2weeks prio after they had finished repairing the electrical system from a prior complaint about the car that i made to NHTSA.GOV in January 3rd 2023: "system lost power and is acquiring its location from the GPS satellites. This usually takes less than 10 minutes. * Start the engine. * Park the vehicle in an open area away from trees, power lines, and tall buildings. * Remove loose articles, mobile phones, or electrical accessories located near the GPS antenna. * If this screen is displayed repeatedly when starting the vehicle, see your dealer."

Mar 2023 STEERING **I have made the dealership aware of the ongoing situation as well as Honda Corporate but I am waiting on a call back.* A month ago, I had my car on cruise control going around 76mph on flat land. After a while, while driving on flat land, my RPM's shot up to almost 6000 and the speed got up to 88mph in less than 10 seconds. I pulled over, shut the car off so I could calm down before driving again. Later that day, I was driving around 77mph on the interstate again but this time I was NOT using cruise control and my car dropped to around 50mph almost immediately, even with my foot on the pedal all the way to the floor but the car would not accelerate. During this time the car jerked forward really hard (I was told the CVT is why) but also multiple dash lights came on. I had picture and video proof of this, took it to the dealership but they could not find any reason. Since this day, my car has lost speed multiple times while driving but the steering wheel has started locking up the last few times making it impossible to even steer and get off of the roadway while the car is dropping speed. This is a huge liability for myself with my children in the car as well as other drivers on the road, as I was almost rear-ended by an 18 wheeler yesterday when this happened. It does not do this consistently but over the past month, it has happened about 4-5 times a week, sometimes more.

Feb 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The vehicle started to encounter mechanical issues 10 days after delivery. The vehicle's radio, Apple Carplay, Bluetooth, and anti-theft system/radio unit started to encounter electrical issues, stating it had lost power. The issues were not as common at first but, grew to be persistent as the vehicle continued to be driven. The vehicle was in for service approximately 1-2 weeks ago from today's date and all the issues have started again. The issues that persist are the vehicle not being able to start multiple times in a week (does not depend if the vehicle is hot or cold, and/or if the vehicle has been recently driven or sitting), Apple Carplay consistently disconnecting, the anti-theft system/radio unit continually losing power and needing to acquire GPS satellites. The dealership did conclude that the battery was at fault for the no-start issues and replaced the battery, unfortunately, that did not solve the issues and they continue to arise on a consistent basis thereafter. The other issues could not be replicated and were recommended that the phones connected via Apple Carplay be updated & repaired, the phones that were connected were already up to date in the IOS version, and the Hondailink version, and were using Apple oem cables. These issues were not solved as well, and could not be replicated by the dealership. Most recently, the vehicle had a hard time starting and refused to accelerate above 40 mph.

Jan 2023 ENGINE While driving multiple warning lights came on stating braking system failure, collision system failure, check engine lights , Emissions system problem, brake hold system failure etc. There were no lights prior. I was at highway speeds when all of this took place which could have turned out to be rather disasterous. The Vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that this was caused by the drain of sunroof being clogged from the elements. The drainage system backed up and water entered front cabin. Dealer states this is not covered under warranty. Even though this is a near brand new car.

Nov 2022 AIR BAGS My daughter was in a car accident, and the air bags did not deploy. The Honda HR-V was totaled out. The other drivers air bags deployed. My daughter said the air bag was smoking like it tried to deploy, but never did. The HR-V collided with another car pulling onto a busy street. The car that was hit was going 35-45MPH. The HR-V had the most damage done to the front of the car. The other car has damage to the front Passenger side panel. The impact to the HR-V was on the driver's side which caused my daughter to hit her head on the driver's side window. The Vehicle is at the Insurance Company's Lot With the Air bags not deploying she was not protected in the crash. The car has been inspected by the Insurance company and they have totaled it out. The car did not have any warning lamps on prior to the accident.

Jun 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL The contact owns a 2022 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed the instrument cluster warning lights were flickering. On another occasion while driving 65 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the parking brake warning light was also flashing. The contact released the parking brake and the brakes locked up and the vehicle drove off the road onto gravel. There were no reported injuries. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The contact was unable to drive above 50 MPH due to the vehicle shaking abnormally. The contact called the local dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and an unknown module was reset. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to AutoNation Honda Roseville (230 Automall Dr, Roseville, CA 95661) where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that an unknown module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 3,654.

Jun 2022 STRUCTURE I just now noticed when looking out the window at my car parked in driveway, the underbody is is like falling? It is hanging low to the ground. Not normal. Earlier that day, when driving, it felt like I was in low gear, as if I was dragging or driving in the mountains.

May 2022 ENGINE This is a continuation of NHTSA ID Number: 11463644. Secondary issue is minimal acceleration output when entering the freeways. At times, it can take between 20-30 seconds to get 0-60 mph - creating a very dangerous environment with the vehicles behind me braking hard to avoid crashing into my 2022 Honda HR-V Sport. American Honda denied my claim to replace ECU and repair body damage to the vehicle after examination.

May 2022 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL This accident took place on April 19, 2022 - - ten days after I took possession of my new 2022 Honda HR-V Sport from the dealership - - sudden unintended acceleration. The facts are I came home on April 19, 2022. I drove slowly up the driveway. I stopped. I inched forward. I stepped lightly on the gas pedal. Then the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning at high speed. The hard-hitting impact resulted in damage to the front of my vehicle. The building supplies on the driveway took the full impact of the accident. Otherwise, the vehicle could have crashed through the garage door and hit another vehicle - -likely resulting in serious injuries or death to myself and extensive property damage. American Honda denied my claim to replace ECU and repair body damage to the vehicle after examination.

Apr 2022 AIR BAGS I was involved in an accident where my car was totaled. The impact was on the front end. My airbags never deployed, and the Honda certified body shop that reviewed the damage said this was concerning, and based on the damage and the speed during impact, they should've deployed. There are no current recalls on HR-V airbags. I sustained some soft tissue injury/bruising across my lower abdomen from the seatbelt, as well as some soreness in my shoulder and neck from the seatbelt. My concern is that the accident could've been much worse, and the airbags may not deploy and provide the protection they're supposed to. I contacted Honda about the concern, and I'm unaware of any subsequent action on their part to mitigate this potential problem.
