Apr 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Collision Mitigation Braking System malfunctioned on 4/23/24 causing automatic abrupt braking when driving over metal hole cover in road. The braking was so intense the car behind our family nearly collided with our car. In the moment this happened the car was not in driver’s control as a result of malfunction. Contacted local Honda dealer by phone who was familiar with the issue and advised there is no doubt the cause is the CMBS and there is no diagnostics or resolution for the problem.

Apr 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER My Body Control Module failed and has been confirmed by the dealer. They are replacing it this morning. It’s been failing for close to a year I didn’t realize. It would set off the tire pressure monitor, caused the battery to die and turn on the brights. 3 days ago the alarm kept going off and turning the dashboard on. When I drove it to the dealer, multiple electronic systems were not working correctly. For a - barely- 3 year old car this isn’t a component that should be going bad!

Apr 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The contact owns a 2022 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking unintendedly activated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and diagnosed as phantom braking. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

Apr 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Brakes went on causing the car to almost come to a complete stop. Car went around the back of car. I was going 40 miles an hour. No car or anything in the road. Nice sunny day. This is the fourth time the brakes have gone on with nothing in front of car.

Apr 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE My 2022 CRV EXL's Automatic emergency braking system engaged without warning for no reason; there were No obstructions on the road twice. Once on the 91 Eastbound freeway around 8:30pm going over 55mph when there were no obstructions for a fraction of a second while my wife and two young children were in the vehicle.

Apr 2024 LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Periodic irregular intervention by the vehicle safety system applying braking force and/or steering input to no threat. Mainly happens at highway speeds, but sometimes occurs just above 40 mph.

Apr 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE On a number of occasions, my car will sound the emergency braking system beep, flash the BRAKE alert on the drivers message screen, and less frequently, apply the brakes independently when nothing is in front of my car. The warnings flash when the car thinks I am too close to a car turning out of my lane but several times this has happened when nothing is in front of me at all. On at least two occasions, full braking was applied when nothing was in front of the car.

Apr 2024 STEERING When vehicle is operating on a curve either going left or right the steering is binding requiring driver to apply force to correct steering. First year had not experienced. This year it is progressively getting worse. Vehicle was purchased June 2022 and now April 2024. I am reading this complaint across multiple on-line platforms for Honda CR-V's.

Incident: Apr 2024
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Apr 2024 STEERING My wife's Honda 2022 CRV EXL Steering started sticking at about 10,000 miles September 2023. I got it to dealer last week 4-1-2024 at 15,000 miles and they confirmed Rack and Pinion had to be replaced. The parts are on back order with a September 2024 delivery date! This is unacceptable!! The car is almost and possibly dangerous to drive! Honda has known about this issue for a long time now. Oh and the dealer had 5 cars with the same issue ahead of me with September parts delivery date!!

Apr 2024 STEERING The steering wheel feels sticky, especially when taking a gentle left curve and also when driving straight. This started happening after about 7500 miles. The amount of force needed to break the stickiness isn't much, but it is unsettling and causes concern. It almost stays in place when releasing both hand from the wheel. I think this should be associated with investigation number EA23003. I brought the vehicle in to the dealer but was told to schedule a diagnostic appointment which has yet to be done. There are no warning lights or alerts concerning this

Apr 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER My vehicle was parked in my closed garage. My car's sunroof shattered when I came back to the car to drive it out for the evening. The incident happened in my closed garage. I took it to the dealership and the dealership said that they have no idea what happened. They didn't look too much into a diagnosis and just stated it could be environmental reasons even though it was in my closed garage. I contacted Honda and let them know about it and they refused to look more into it as well. They said since they don't know the reason, its environmental. I think this is a safety issue since it could be related to faulty glass or improper installation, maybe a defect. I also think it was improper for Honda to not investigate the issue on their side and figure out a proper diagnosis. I think this is very dangerous since I could have taken out the car and opened the sunroof headliner and glass could have been in my face and disrupted my driving.

Apr 2024 STEERING When driving, the steering "sticks" when making a left turn. You have to forcefully turn it back to the right to straighten the vehicle out. It has been doing this for about 6 months, but has progressively gotten worse. The issue was confirmed at the Honda dealer service shop where we purchased the vehicle. They told us it would cost $2,960 to have it repaired. They said it was the electronic steering gear. The car is out of warranty because of mileage, even though we purchased it new in September of 2022. The service rep said he has at least 10 others waiting on the same repair.

Mar 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BATTERTY ISSUE: November 11, 2023 and February 13, 2024 dead batteries- 2 roadside assistances. November 11, 2023 battery replaced at dealership. February 13, 2024 diagnostics done on battery-not replaced. I am advised to start my car every three days to keep the battery charged-the new technology is draining the battery while the car its shut down and not in use for a period of time. To say this is an inconvenience is putting it mildly. The dealership suggested I buy a battery charger so I can handle this problem on my own.

Feb 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I change my oil about every 3,000 with FULL SYNTHETIC oil. I check the oil level to make sure it isn’t low. I smell a very strong odor of gasoline on the dipstick. I’ve heard Honda has been having a problem with oil dilution. My CRV is very hesitant at times and almost caused me to get into an accident on a few occasions. Something needs to be done about this and the Government needs Honda to issue a recall. Also they’re having an electrical issue. The dash and screen flicker on and off. This is very frustrating especially at night.

Jan 2024 TIRES 235/60R18 103H On January 20 and January 21, we were coming back from road travel on Long Island, New York and received a low-pressure indicator. We serviced the tires and did not have an issue until Wednesday January 24 again a low-pressure indicator. We took the vehicle to Mr. Tire in Lewes Delaware and were told the same tire had a second puncture but all the tires had low wear and extensive cracking. We paid $85.67 for Mr. Tire to put on the spare. [XXX] felt at 24,582 miles OEM tires should not fail. [XXX] contacted the Pohanka dealer and the dealer indicated they were having some premature failure issues with the tires and would pick the vehicle up. Before Pohanka could pick up the vehicle [XXX] was driving local less than 10 miles and the driver side rear tire split and completely failed. As such when Pohanka called they arranged a tow to their dealership to inspect the tires. Upon inspection it was determined the tires were failed INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Jan 2024 STEERING When steering along long curves on the highway and then trying to straighten the steering wheel, the steering wheel will feel stuck and take a bit more force to overcome the position it gets stuck at before being able to be straightened out. Adding this amount of force to overcome the stuck steering wheel causes the car to swerve slightly. This typically is observed on sweeping curves to the right. Appears to follow NHTSA inv #EA23003

Dec 2023 STEERING The steering wheel will freeze up, and I have to forcibly jerk the wheel to the opposite direction to return directional control. Nov 2023 AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I had a medium sized doe run in front of the vehicle while on the highway. I had the adaptive cruise control set to 62 MPH with lane keeping assist and all other safety features enabled. When the deer ran out out in front of the vehicle the emergency breaking did not engage, nor did it flash the warning or make the chime. It caused major damage to the front center and drivers side of the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. However, after the collision, the airbag light on the dash illuminated and stayed on. The airbag light has never came on before other than the illumination test when first starting the car. Also, the Hazzard lights did not com on automatically. The collision had enough impact to send the several hundred pound deer over 100' down the road. The only safety feature that partly worked was the retracting seat belts. I say partly worked because only the lap portion tightened. There was no tightening of the shoulder portion, which is now locked in place.

Nov 2023 VISIBILITY/WIPER The rear windshield in my 2022 CR-V EX randomly shattered when we opened the driver's side door. There was no impact from any objects as the vehicle was stationary all night. We believe it may be related to others' issues with HR-V's as well with the rear windshield randomly shattering.

Nov 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was driving my 2021 Honda CR-V vehicle at residential speed (exact speed unknown). Car suddenly stopped in street causing me to jerk forward in driver seat. As the car stopped, I saw the orange BRAKE symbol appear in front dash. I was accelerating at time of incident. I was not using the brakes. I was injured with severe whiplash. Pain so severe that I also made an error with administration of a pain reliever when I arrived home. This put me and my passenger at risk due to the failure of what I learned was the CMBS in my vehicle. If another car was following too closely behind me at the time the car abruptly stopped, this could have been a more serious accident. This incident happened today 11/22/2023 at approximately 11:30 am EST. I have not had an opportunity to contact the dealer as I have been in pain since it happened. Also, a few weeks ago, I noticed the BRAKE symbol appeared while driving while accelerating. The car jerked but it did not fully stop. Date of that incident unknown. The car has not yet been inspected by anyone since today’s incident. I found information about the CMBS issue for my car type after searching for a known recall online this evening.

Nov 2023 SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was in a dedicated lane to make a left turn. There was no vehicle in front of me and no pedestrians in the crosswalk. I was coasting to the light at about 20mph or less as I could see that it was red and because I am familiar with the intersection , I knew it would not turn green immediately. At 2 to 3 car lengths back from where I was going to stop all of a sudden the car jolted to a stop. The car immediately shut down (quit running). There was no car behind me or I am sure my car would have been rear ended. I got out of the car to see if there was something under it or if I could see if something had fallen off the underside of the car. I tried to restart the car but it would not start. By that time there were 2 cars behind me waiting to turn. I got out of the car and went back to the nearest car and told the driver she needed to go around my car. I got back into my car and tried to restart it and it started. I had absolutely no warning before this happened. I did not take the car for an inspection but I did call the salesman (as soon as I could). He said it might be because of the forward collision system and suggested that I could turn it off. He said that the system is very sensitive and even a leaf might set it off. Even though it was in October, it was not a windy day and most trees in my area had not started losing their leaves. I bought this car because of the safety equipment as I am [XXX] and in good health, but I am a practical person. I did tell the salesman that if there is another incident that I would be coming in for an inspection. I have been anxious about this and have learned others have had this problem.
