Jan 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM While driving vehicle with infotainment system playing radio, radio volume goes to full volume that is ear piercing and is going to cause hearing damage. Must pull off the road as fast as possible, place vehicle in park, shut off vehicle and open drivers side door to get radio to shut off. While the issue is happening volume knob does nothing, stereo on off button does nothing and steering wheel volume controls do nothing. This is a serious issue when trying to pull over, I keep ear muffs in vehicle to protect ear drums. This has happened at least 6 times, I plan on bring to GMC dealer.

Jan 2024 STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER Tailgate inadvertently opens. There is no visual or audible alarm to inform me the rear tailgate is open. This is a Denali package truck. I have lost items, coolers, small folding tables among small items without warning. Most of the time I was traveling on a highway. Could cause accidents, injury to others as well as I have lost my belongings. I have had the dealership as well as 2 requests with GM customer service with no corrective results. The trucks tailgate will show an open display warning but only when top tailgate is down/open. If the whole tailgate is down/open there is no visual warning on dash. I believe there was an error in placement of open tailgate sensor when truck was produced. 2023 models have correct sensor placement and visual dash warning. The 2022 was a new redesign doe the Sierra class truck and there was a mistake where the open tailgate sensor was placed. I went to GMC virtual site and the 2023 model examined by GMC employee on visual check shows on complete tail gate down/open the same dash visual tail gate open alarm I see on my 2022 when only the top part of whole tailgate is open. My Dealership and GMC customer service have been involved for the past year. I have been reimbursed by GMC for my losses but problem still exists.

Jan 2024 ENGINE The car consumes oil to the point there's no oil in the engine. Not a result of a leak but rather the engine is actually burning it. I've taken it to 4 dealers, all confirmed it's due to Kia's bad engine design & that there's no visible leak anywhere. The kia dealer also confirmed there is no oil level sensor but only an oil pressure sensor. According to the dealer, I don't qualify for a new engine until the check engine light turns on or the vehicle results in a fire. I have to get the oil topped off every 500 miles. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle. The dealership also states I'm no longer covered under the warranty as I'm a 3rd owner. My coverage ends at 60,000. I was not aware of this during purchase of the vehicle back in 2020.

Nov 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER While driving, on its own, the radio volume surged to 100%. All radio controls were unresponsive, and the volume was maxed-out.. Volume bar on the console display was reading 100%. Was unable to turn the radio down or off. Issue did not resolve until I drove home and turned the vehicle off.

Nov 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM While driving the vehicle, the volume on the audio panel shot up to 100%. It caught me off guard and nearly caused me to steer into oncoming traffic. All volume knobs and switches were unresponsive including the power button to the whole unit. I had to pull over and shut off the truck and let it sit for over 10 minutes in order to get it to stop. There are now numerous audio issues, including but not limited to the audio speakers making a crackling noise so bad it renders the use of any audio completely, also periodically the audio loses all volume and will remain completely silent regardless in AM/FM, Satellite Radio, bluetooth or phone call. All these seem to happen anytime the truck gets wet from either car wash or the weather.

Sep 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Unwanted Radio Volume Ramp Up to Max: The radio volume turned up to the maximum while driving and could not be turned down with user controls including those both on the steering wheel and the volume knob on the dash. The situation lasted about 60 seconds before it began responding again. The vehicle has the optional Bose radio system which is EXTREMELY loud. This issue presents risks with damage to my small daughter's ears, as well a significant distraction from driving due to frantic attempts to decrease the volume while being overwhelmed by the noise level.

Sep 2023 SERVICE BRAKES I was driving the vehicle with my 4 year old daughter and experienced a complete brake failure. The dealership responded by replacing the master cylinder (the truck only has 16000 miles on it). Upon receiving the truck back from the dealer, another brake failure occurred. This is a dangerous vehicle and GM has done nothing to make it right with me.

No warning lamps or alarms prior to the truck just shutting down. It was towed to the nearest GM Dealership and the Maintenance facility was able to diagnose that the motor was locked up. It was towed back to the purchase dealership in Shreveport LA at owner expense of $2,500.

Aug 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER We purchased a new GMC truck 1/27/23. Immediately there was a problem with a bad vibration. We first took it in for service 2/2/23 at 178 miles. The tires were balanced several times. Then they completely replaced the tires. The vehicle still vibrates at highway speeds. We took a trip in June that was a 6.5 hour trip. The vibration seems to get worse going up big hills. So when we returned we scheduled the sixth service visit. We took the truck in July 5th to Darrell Waltrip GMC. They kept our truck for 22 days. The first day, they asked us to come in and ride with the service department. He saw how bad the vibration was. He told my husband it seemed to be coming from beneath the truck and it was not the tires. GM made them swap tires and wheels. That did nothing. Talking to the service manager one day and he was telling us about occasionally “rare vibrations” and having to replace something in the transmission. At the end of that conversation, he called us by another name. Apparently another customer was having this “rare vibration” as well. An engineer finally showed up and drove our truck. He said it’s normal for a truck to have a severe vibration and the other new trucks on the lot does the same. I know there are class action lawsuits regarding the “Chevy shake”. Our year model is pending a new lawsuit. After researching, it seems they have produced vehicles for years that have driveshaft issues. They also had problems with Goodyear tires. We feel they are ignoring a long time problem that they obviously are aware of. Every other manufacturer can produce a truck that doesn’t vibrate at highway speeds or when in a bind going up a bigger hill. We worry something is going to break going down the road. We requested they declare the truck a lemon and repurchase but GM refused the request.

May 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER The vehicle is brand new with only 300 miles on the clock. Today while driving to work and listening to XM-radio the volume spiked to max and would not respond to controls to lower volume or turn off. I was able to lower by switching to a different output. It was very detracting and potentially dangerous since the Bose speakers are very loud.

May 2023 STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER Vehicle does not have a notification via chime or message stating the rear tailgate is open. There is a button on the dash that can open the tailgate when the vehicle is stopped at an intersection, this can be inadvertently pressed without the driver knowing, causing the vehicle to drop any cargo when accelerating or leaving the intersection. This can lead to serious injury or to any vehicle behind it. Many owners have already reported losing cargo such as tool boxes, paint cans and groceries spilling throughout intersections.

May 2023 SERVICE BRAKES The factory Installed Trailer Brake Controller - The brake controller disengages the trailer brakes after multiple applications of the brake pedal. If the ignition cycle is stopped and restarted brakes are then reconnected. The Truck is equipped with a Max Towing package and factory installed brake controller. Prior to disengaging the trailer brake, a message "Check Trailer Wiring" appears each time the brake pedal is applied, then after multiple brake applied, the message" Service Trailer Brakes" message appears and the trailer brakes are disable for the remainder of the ignition cycle. I had the brake controller serviced at a GMC dealership In Hillsboro, Oregon following the first failure of the system, they advised me that the problem was the trailer plug on my trailer and advised me of brand and model number to install on my trailer. After I installed this new plug problem remained. I then to the truck to the dealership where I purchased the truck in Salem, Oregon. After an inspection there I was informed that it was a wiring issue with my Canopy and that they had fixed it. Again the problem wasn't fixed and the brake controller continued not to work. On my next visit for the same problem I was advised that my trailer was the issue and that the truck wasn't the problem. So I took my trailer into a top tier trailer repair shop and everything on my trailer was functioning as designed with no repair required. These 3 visits were over a period of 14 months. Over this 14 month period I had two close calls while towing my boat and trailer. What I have now learned is that the factory installed brake Contoller is not compatible with my trailer electronic brake actuator, even though all of GM promotional information says that it is. In addition none of the GMC service representatives were aware of this problem. I had to point out an obscure bulletin to them. by GMC failure to advise owners of the problem many drivers are being put in harms way. GM needs to inform

Mar 2023 ENGINE I purchased my 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Truck back in November from Ewing GMC in Plano, TX. I am a roofer, and my career depends on my vehicle. I live in Plano, TX, and was driving 80 mph back from Lubbock, TX around 12 PM Friday 3/24/23, on the highway when a notification appeared on my dash saying I needed to press the "start" button. The truck completely shut off, making it difficult for me to pull to the side of the road safely. Once I had stopped, I put the truck in "park" and it was completely unresponsive and would not re-start. I had to wait over 5 hours for OnStar to get a tow truck and get my truck. It was eventually towed to Frank Brown GMC in Lubbock around 6:30 PM that evening. I live in Plano, TX, and had to fly back the following morning. GMC in Lubbock was not able to look at the truck until late Monday afternoon 3/27/23. The service manager in Lubbock said the engine appears to be seized up internally and they have suggested a complete engine replacement from corporate. It is now Wednesday 3/29/23. I am still without a loaner truck, as Ewing GMC here in Plano will not provide me with a loaner since the truck is not in service at that location. It is not my responsibility to get the defective truck back to GMC Ewing in Plano, as the truck is still under full warranty. GMC corporate, Ewing GMC and Frank Brown GMC are not taking this situation with any urgency, and I am now responsible for paying for an $85,000 truck that does not run and GMC has not been cooperative in resolving the situation in a timely manner. I am at a loss as to what can be done and how I can proceed to get this resolved ASAP.
