| Mar 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,ENGINE | While unlocked, passenger doors go through unlocking phase, door locks click, parking lights flash and tail gate comes open. Along with this, an electric motor sound comes from underneath the vehicle (pre start fuel pressurization sequence?) that goes on and on, doors locked, or unlocked, that, left unchecked, drains the battery. Must be hooked to battery recharger round the clock. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The onstar module has failed twice. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Electronic tailgate opened on its own. The tailgate opened while I was either driving down the highway or when it was parked earlier. When I went to park the truck I back the dropped tailgate into a poll because I believed the tailgate was locked closed but it had opened on its own. There is no recall on my vehicle but I believe there has been over 320,000 vehicles like mine that have recalls on them for the same issue. Tailgate opens on its own. I have not had it inspected because they want to charge $179 to run a diagnostic check on it. There were no warnings at all. I've owned the vehicle for around 3 months and there has been one or two time that I questioned if I left the tailgate open or not. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Purchase new in Sept 2022. I did not notice that my trailer hitch Connector was not working until after a year later. when i needed to hookup my enclosed car hauler trailer. And notice that my trailer daytime running lights where not working. Only brakes/,turn signals and four way flashers. I contacted my dealer and again they found no issues with the factory harness. leaving me on the side of the road until morning. As i had no running lights. After arriving back home. I crawl under the rear bumper. just to check the connections. I could not see anything nor would i know what to look for. I called another Gmc dealer and they mention that they been having problems with the module for the factory trailer connector. Still having issues | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost power. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 14,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 14,000 |
| Feb 2024 | STRUCTURE | I purchase my 2022 Denali 1500 crew cab Brand New. After a few weeks of ownership. My mulitpro tailgate would open on its own. I had taken my truck to the nearest Gmc dealer to have it looked at. They said they could not find anything wrong with it. A few month later the exact thing happen to me with my wife in the truck. Again i'm back at the dealer and they could not detect the problem. So i left and headed home. I had to take a trip to Pennsylvania and after driving with my enclosed car hauler attach. The tailgate drop open striking my trailer level wheel , putting a dent in my tailgate/ Took it back to Gmc in Alcoa Tn and again no issue or fix was provider. Still Having issues with my Multipro Tailgate opening on its own. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The tailgate is opening on it's own. There have been many times it has been open and we were not aware until we go to the back of the truck or put the truck in reverse and notice it on the backup camera. We first noticed it happen around Christmas of 2023, and it has been happening randomly since then. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE | Tailgate occasionally self deploys. 1 incident resulted in damage to the tailgate while towing a trailer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While driving vehicle with infotainment system playing radio, radio volume goes to full volume that is ear piercing and is going to cause hearing damage. Must pull off the road as fast as possible, place vehicle in park, shut off vehicle and open drivers side door to get radio to shut off. While the issue is happening volume knob does nothing, stereo on off button does nothing and steering wheel volume controls do nothing. This is a serious issue when trying to pull over, I keep ear muffs in vehicle to protect ear drums. This has happened at least 6 times, I plan on bring to GMC dealer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Tailgate inadvertently opens. There is no visual or audible alarm to inform me the rear tailgate is open. This is a Denali package truck. I have lost items, coolers, small folding tables among small items without warning. Most of the time I was traveling on a highway. Could cause accidents, injury to others as well as I have lost my belongings. I have had the dealership as well as 2 requests with GM customer service with no corrective results. The trucks tailgate will show an open display warning but only when top tailgate is down/open. If the whole tailgate is down/open there is no visual warning on dash. I believe there was an error in placement of open tailgate sensor when truck was produced. 2023 models have correct sensor placement and visual dash warning. The 2022 was a new redesign doe the Sierra class truck and there was a mistake where the open tailgate sensor was placed. I went to GMC virtual site and the 2023 model examined by GMC employee on visual check shows on complete tail gate down/open the same dash visual tail gate open alarm I see on my 2022 when only the top part of whole tailgate is open. My Dealership and GMC customer service have been involved for the past year. I have been reimbursed by GMC for my losses but problem still exists. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | ENGINE | The car consumes oil to the point there's no oil in the engine. Not a result of a leak but rather the engine is actually burning it. I've taken it to 4 dealers, all confirmed it's due to Kia's bad engine design & that there's no visible leak anywhere. The kia dealer also confirmed there is no oil level sensor but only an oil pressure sensor. According to the dealer, I don't qualify for a new engine until the check engine light turns on or the vehicle results in a fire. I have to get the oil topped off every 500 miles. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle. The dealership also states I'm no longer covered under the warranty as I'm a 3rd owner. My coverage ends at 60,000. I was not aware of this during purchase of the vehicle back in 2020. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the service brakes monitor warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with failed rear brake pads. The contact was informed that the rear brake pads needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 22,000 |
| Nov 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | While driving, on its own, the radio volume surged to 100%. All radio controls were unresponsive, and the volume was maxed-out.. Volume bar on the console display was reading 100%. Was unable to turn the radio down or off. Issue did not resolve until I drove home and turned the vehicle off. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While driving the vehicle, the volume on the audio panel shot up to 100%. It caught me off guard and nearly caused me to steer into oncoming traffic. All volume knobs and switches were unresponsive including the power button to the whole unit. I had to pull over and shut off the truck and let it sit for over 10 minutes in order to get it to stop. There are now numerous audio issues, including but not limited to the audio speakers making a crackling noise so bad it renders the use of any audio completely, also periodically the audio loses all volume and will remain completely silent regardless in AM/FM, Satellite Radio, bluetooth or phone call. All these seem to happen anytime the truck gets wet from either car wash or the weather. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | Master break cylinder went bad and leaked fluid in side cab on driver floor board. Dealer identified that master break cylinder needed to be replaced. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The truck was parked indoors for a two days for tailgate repair/paint. The fire department responded to a fire at 6am 10/11/2023 and per their report the fire was started in the engine area of a 2022 GMC Sierra Denali. I am not the owner of the truck, my vehicle was damaged as a result. Owner's insurance has inspected the vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: Yes | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While driving the vehicle, the radio will suddenly and instantly jump to full volume frightening the driver and passengers and making it hard to focus on the road and control the vehicle. The dealership and GM will not fix the issue as it happens intermittently. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Unwanted Radio Volume Ramp Up to Max: The radio volume turned up to the maximum while driving and could not be turned down with user controls including those both on the steering wheel and the volume knob on the dash. The situation lasted about 60 seconds before it began responding again. The vehicle has the optional Bose radio system which is EXTREMELY loud. This issue presents risks with damage to my small daughter's ears, as well a significant distraction from driving due to frantic attempts to decrease the volume while being overwhelmed by the noise level. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | I was driving the vehicle with my 4 year old daughter and experienced a complete brake failure. The dealership responded by replacing the master cylinder (the truck only has 16000 miles on it). Upon receiving the truck back from the dealer, another brake failure occurred. This is a dangerous vehicle and GM has done nothing to make it right with me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | AIR BAGS | Hi , I came on here to see if there was an issue with airbags deploying on the gmxlc sierra 2022. A cow hobbled out into the route 11 , mooers , NY and I impacted with It well over 45mph . My chest hit the steering wheel and my neck was jerked forward and no airbag. Not sure if something is wrong woth the sensor or what. Also be advised the fatality in this incident was the cow annoyed down below. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 1 Towed | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | While driving my Vehicle down Interstate 20 in Odessa TX the engine locked up and quit running at 70 mph in traffic. The truck is 13 months old with 17,000 miles on it. No warning lamps or alarms prior to the truck just shutting down. It was towed to the nearest GM Dealership and the Maintenance facility was able to diagnose that the motor was locked up. It was towed back to the purchase dealership in Shreveport LA at owner expense of $2,500. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | We purchased a new GMC truck 1/27/23. Immediately there was a problem with a bad vibration. We first took it in for service 2/2/23 at 178 miles. The tires were balanced several times. Then they completely replaced the tires. The vehicle still vibrates at highway speeds. We took a trip in June that was a 6.5 hour trip. The vibration seems to get worse going up big hills. So when we returned we scheduled the sixth service visit. We took the truck in July 5th to Darrell Waltrip GMC. They kept our truck for 22 days. The first day, they asked us to come in and ride with the service department. He saw how bad the vibration was. He told my husband it seemed to be coming from beneath the truck and it was not the tires. GM made them swap tires and wheels. That did nothing. Talking to the service manager one day and he was telling us about occasionally “rare vibrations” and having to replace something in the transmission. At the end of that conversation, he called us by another name. Apparently another customer was having this “rare vibration” as well. An engineer finally showed up and drove our truck. He said it’s normal for a truck to have a severe vibration and the other new trucks on the lot does the same. I know there are class action lawsuits regarding the “Chevy shake”. Our year model is pending a new lawsuit. After researching, it seems they have produced vehicles for years that have driveshaft issues. They also had problems with Goodyear tires. We feel they are ignoring a long time problem that they obviously are aware of. Every other manufacturer can produce a truck that doesn’t vibrate at highway speeds or when in a bind going up a bigger hill. We worry something is going to break going down the road. We requested they declare the truck a lemon and repurchase but GM refused the request. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | While driving my 2022 Sierra elevation in April of 2023 my check engine light and a reduced power light came on and onstar diagnostics gave me a code of P30B2. Made a service appointment and was told there was an issue with the wiring. Problem was fix so i was told by the dealership, but the check engine light has come on 3 more times for the same reason. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while reversing the back over prevention object indictor showed that an object was to the side of the vehicle, causing the contact to rear end the object. No one was injured. There were minor damages to the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there was no failure found and provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 13,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 13,000 |
| Jun 2023 | AIR BAGS | Front collision with a deer at 65 mph. Hit front drivers side. Airbags did not deploy. Airbag dash light is on and a notification to service restraint system. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
