| Jan 2025 | STRUCTURE | While driving on the interstate at 75 mph, the top trim from my grill flew off unprovoked hitting my windshield and roof of the truck. Luckily there wasn't anyone behind us but the noise definitely spooked myself and the passenger not knowing what just hit the windshield. I took it into the dealer from who I purchased the truck and told the entire grill must be replaced for a whopping $1571.26 not covered under warranty. Luckily, this happened at night when there were very few drivers on the road, but had it happened during a busy time, it is likely that piece would have hit another vehicle(s). I have found my truck battery dead if left connected overnight. For the last week i disconnect the battery when i shut the truck off, and reconnect when i want to start it to insure getting to work on time. Horn even goes off alerting as if the engine is on and me walking away with the key in my pocket even though engine is off. Have to play with shifter to get it to stop, sometimes turning it back on and off will do trick. The driver turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that upon shifting to reverse(R), the RPM decreased, and the vehicle failed to respond. The driver was able to drive to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed, and there were metal shavings inside the transmission. The dealer determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a related recall. No physical contact was made to any part of my vehicle had occurred. The molding piece flew directly behind me on the highway and almost hit another car. I pulled over and inspected the front and noticed that the plastic clips that hold the molding piece in place had snapped off. | Dec 2024 | POWER TRAIN | When the truck reaches approximately 50mph it is unable to shift into the next gears and then it's unable to downshift. The transmission will not go into neutral. The truck must be stopped and turned off, sometimes it will need to be restarted 2x before it's able to shift into first gear. The outdoors temperature was approximately 24F, transmission temp was 178F. The truck locked into 7th gear 6x in a row while the transmission was set to normal driving mode. There were no signs of transmission failure until the vehicle reached approximately 50mph, afterwards the check engine light illuminated, a warning stating "reduced acceleration drive with care" and "service transmission now unable to shift soon". The DEF system is flawed with the level being shown by approximate using a computer to calculate versus a level sensor or sending unit. The volume of music was so high that it was hard to concentrate on driving while trying to reduce the volume and could not. This could be a potential safety risk when driving at higher speeds causing the driver to not concentrate on the road and other surrounding vehicles. I reported issue to dealership and have not had it looked at yet as it has only happened one time. This is a complete manufacturing defect which is on GMC Sierra 1500s years 2022 to present and needs to be recalled.
