| May 2026 | POWER TRAIN | The transmission on the vehicle failed, it is currently sitting at a GMC dealership awaiting repair. However the valve body is on back order and there is no time table for repair to occur. My family and my safety was put at risk not knowing that the 10 speed transmission could result in rear tire lockup while on the highway, also the inability to put the truck in reverse to back away from any potential hazard. The problem was confirmed by GMC of Attleboro Mass. The vehicle was inspected by technicians at said dealership. There were no prior warnings, however the truck did feel hesitant to shift on the highway a week or two prior to failure. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle decelerated unintendedly and failed to exceed 50 MPH on several occasions. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the message " Reduced Acceleration - Drive With Care" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions, and the OnStar sensors, the fuel injectors and 8 spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who retrieved DTCs: P0747, indicating a pressure control solenoid A stuck on failure, and P0700, indicating a transmission control module failure. The dealer determined that the failure was related to GM Special Coverage Number: N242454441 (Momentary Rear Wheel Lock-Up); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance in adding the VIN to the Special Coverage. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | STRUCTURE | I was driving, my front grill protector that was fixed with recall flew off again. This needs to be fixed. The part flew off hit my window and almost hit two cars that were behind me. This could of resulted in a bad accident. No warnings, it just happened. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | Multiple times now my vehicle has had its engine locked up while driving at highway and regular uphill driving. Along with towing aswell. I have had it repaired multiple times and last time dealer wouldn’t tell me what happened because GM wouldn’t let them figure out what happened. Along with multiple attempts at fixing the transmission and brakes that are still on going issue. Same with the engine. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 MPH the rear wheels suddenly seized causing the vehicle to abruptly stop in the middle of the road. The vehicle was restarted and slowly driven home. The contact indicated that later after restarting the vehicle it was discovered that the vehicle would not drive forward or in reverse. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V083000(POWER TRAIN ). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 67,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 67,000 |
| May 2026 | STRUCTURE | The front grille deflector on my GMC Sierra flew off my truck on a windy day, hit my windshield hard but luckily did not crack it. A vehicle behind me did swerve out of the way to avoid the flying grille deflector but no accident luckily occurred. The piece is damaged but I was able to recover it. I had called the dealership I bought this vehicle at ( around June of 2025) they had confirmed this recall was “fixed” a few months prior to my purchase of the vehicle. Question from me would be, would my local certified GM dealership be able to provide this recall fix? I do not necessarily like the idea of taking back a potential highway safety hazard 2 hours away from my home on the interstate 70 mph back home once this is fixed / repaired with glue/ epoxy that may need 24-48 hours of drying time to cure. Also how can I trust the dealership who “fixed” this issue for it not to happen again? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | POWER TRAIN | 2022 Limited GMC Sierra AT4 1500 motor seized on highway with loss of propulsions on highway while towing an empty horse trailer. Truck had 64,000 miles. While driving it had lack of power and then flashed on dash to shift neutral and press start/stop button. Coasted to a stop on the side of the highway and shut truck off at which point it would not turn back on. Officer stopped to check as complaints about a truck partially on the side of the road. Had someone come to assist and try to diagnose. Had to tow truck off highway with trailer while officer followed behind with lights. Dropped truck off in empty lot unhooked trailer and left truck to be towed to dealer the next day. Dealership confirmed that day engine had failed under the L87 6.2L V8 motor recall. Gave approx estimate of two weeks to fix. Currently at day 38 with no fix completed yet. GM and dealer have both given run around blaming each other for the delay in providing a comperable "like" vehicle that can supplement towing needs broken truck was used for. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | 1 month after warranty was up the dash light came on. After researching and speaking with the dealers. Pull the F11 fuse then try un hooking the negative battery terminal. This worked for a few weeks. Then told it could be a software issue. I spent many hours search the internet only to find out there are thousands of trucks dealing with the same issue. Why is there a recall on a grill and not this issue? Lots of very unhappy GMC truck owners!!! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES | The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra LD Crew SLT. The contact stated that the vehicle's front driver side and passenger side doors do not lock when depressing the key fob and while inside the vehicle. The dealer was contacted; however the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 68,000 |
| May 2026 | STRUCTURE | I had the recall performed to reinforce the upper grille deflector on my truck because there was risk of it flying off at highway speeds. Last week driving down the highway my grille deflector flew off and had the car behind me not swerved, they would have been struck by it. I have an appointment at my dealership tomorrow. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra Denali 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 73 MPH the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over safely. The driver was unaware of any warning lights being illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Telematics (OnStar) Module Dealership has checked it, the telmatic module is bad. And the dealership i went to Dossit big 4 in Tupelo MS told me this has been a problem with this truck. And are wanting me to pay $645 to fix it. After they just did some recalls and updated the software. This was working before then. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Electronic tailgate failed when driving uphill. Tailgate fell open | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | ENGINE | I have the GM 6.2 L engine in my 2022 Denali and had the recall Pico test performed August 20th 2025 and the truck passed, they changed the oil and cap and I was good to go supposedly. 5,000 miles later I had the oil changed again and everything looked fine, I drove the truck another approximately 1500 miles and the engine suddenly seized with no indications and no warning. That occurred on April 12th 2026. It is now May 3rd 2026 and I am still waiting for an engine. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ENGINE | I own a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4. The vehicle developed a clear engine knocking noise. I first brought the vehicle to the dealership while under 150,000 miles for inspection related to a recall. The dealership only performed a computer scan and oil change and stated no issue was found. No mechanical inspection was performed despite the noise. The issue continued and worsened. I returned to the dealership and the vehicle was kept for three days. During that time, the dealership again denied the existence of the noise and stated the vehicle was operating normally. When I picked up the vehicle, I immediately noticed the same noise and requested the technician to inspect it again. At that time, the technician acknowledged the noise and confirmed it was related to the recall. Despite this acknowledgment, General Motors declined to repair the engine and closed the case, offering only partial assistance toward purchasing a new vehicle instead of fixing the defect. The failure to properly diagnose the issue during the initial visit and the subsequent denial during the second inspection allowed a safety-related mechanical defect to worsen. This condition may result in engine failure or sudden loss of power while driving, creating a serious safety risk. The engine noise indicates a potential internal failure which could lead to sudden loss of power while driving, creating a safety risk. The initial failure to properly diagnose the issue may have allowed a safety-related defect to worsen beyond repair. | Apr 2026 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled, and there was smoke coming from the engine compartment. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing excessive oil consumption. The messages "Put Vehicle in Neutral" and "Check Oil" were displayed. The failure occurred on several different occasions. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced under an unknown NHTSA Campaign Number; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, where it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 28,000 |
| Apr 2026 | STRUCTURE | Front chrome hood deflector detached while driving down the interstate. Had a recall on the deflector, recall was performed and the chrome deflector still detached. Tried to get GM to repair and they declined my recall claim. GM stated my 3 year bumper to bumper warranty had expired and they did not have to fix it. This is an extremely hazardous condition and should be covered. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | our truck has the GM 6.2L V8 engine in it. We had the “recall” done where they recommended thicker oil. Despite that recall work we still had catastrophic engine failure and GM’s solution is terrible. A new engine that can have the same issue? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ENGINE | Engine seized while driving on my local interstate hwy. No warning lights came up. Towed to the dealer and they confirmed the engine was locked up. Engine needed to be replaced. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ENGINE | My 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X experienced an engine failure requiring full replacement under warranty. The vehicle was out of service for approximately 46 days. After replacement, the vehicle experienced additional electrical issues and unsafe operating conditions. The replacement engine has now failed again in under 8,000 miles. A dealership performed diagnostic testing (Pico scope) which failed immediately and recommended another full engine replacement. I have been advised not to drive the vehicle due to safety concerns. This appears to be a repeat defect that was not corrected by the initial repair. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ENGINE | I am reporting two separate stall/loss of propulsion events on my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Limited (VIN: [XXX] ), which is subject to NHTSA Recall #25V274000 and GM Special Coverage XXX (L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion). INCIDENT 1 — April 16, 2026: While decelerating off a highway exit ramp, the vehicle stalled without warning. The dashboard prompted me to shift to neutral and restart. I performed a rolling restart successfully and continued driving. This stall occurred while decelerating on a highway exit ramp with vehicles traveling at highway speeds behind me. The sudden and unexpected loss of propulsion created a significant rear-end collision risk. INCIDENT 2 — April 17, 2026 (next day): While traveling at approximately 40 MPH and climbing a hill under load, the vehicle stalled a second time. The dashboard again prompted a neutral restart. This time the vehicle would not restart. All I heard was a single click from the starter, followed by a complete dash reboot. The vehicle lost all power repeatedly upon restart attempts. I was stranded on a narrow, high-speed rural road in Standish, Maine during rush hour, with vehicles passing at speed. I was in serious danger. The vehicle was towed to Weirs GMC in Arundel, Maine (the selling dealer), where it currently remains for diagnosis under RO# XXX. Both stall concerns are documented as Warranty Pay. Additional concern: Since the day after purchase (March 28, 2026), I have noticed a pronounced cold-start tick originating from the bottom end of the engine, confirmed by an independent mechanic as coming from inside the engine. This vehicle passed a Recall #25V274000 inspection on December 28, 2025 at 98,233 miles. The tick and stall events began after that inspection. I am requesting this be formally documented as a safety complaint tied to Recall #25V274000 and Special Coverage XXX. | Apr 2026 | ENGINE | 2022 GMC Sierra Denali 6.2 L Engine failure at 32,000 miles/924 Hours on 9/2024. Was driving truck dashboard lit up, popped into neutral entering a main road. Thankfully my son wasn’t hit by oncoming traffic. Vehicle would not start called Police, tow truck and was found to be total catastrophic engine failure. New engine was replaced. New engine has roughly 22,000 trouble free miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | POWER TRAIN | 4/02/26 Truck bug jumped hard and shifted down causing me to fishtail and almost hit a car. Scared the crap out of me and the driver of the other car. Low power mode. 20 mph. No reverse. Towed to dealership. Diagnosis valve body spacer. This is our first GMC. Barely had it over a year. 78k miles. No warning lamps prior to failure. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ENGINE | I was exiting a main highway and when I let off the accelerator the engine died unexpectedly with no prior signs of failure and would not turn over to restart, luckily I was able to coast onto a side street out of the way of moderate traffic. I called GM roadside assistance and had the vehicle towed to my local dealership. The service department confirmed that the engine was seized and needed replaced. My vehicle went through the L87 recall and passed inspection last fall at 29,400 miles, had another oil change at around 33,500 miles. The engine failed at 37,800 miles. I am the original owner and have always maintained the vehicle to GM standards. I feel that the recall is not solving this problem, because the engines are failing anyway. At this time my vehicle has been at the dealership service department for three and a half weeks, and is waiting on the replacement engine. The dealership has provided a loaner vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Vehicle Fire. Total Loss. While driving, vehicle began to smoke from under the hood. Fire grew rapidly and vehicle is totaled. No warning signs leading up to the incident. | Crash: No Fire: Yes | Unknown |
