| May 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission started slipping. Not wanting to pull in drive or reverse | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | SERVICE BRAKES | NHTSA #26V104: I purchased this vehicle to rent it out on Turo (a vehicle sharing platform). It was de-listed from Turo on March 18 due to NHTSA #26V104 recall being unresolved. I have been unable to rent my vehicle since then and Ford has not provided a remedy to this recall. I would like to log a complaint that this software fix remedy has taken too long. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Ford has 25N09 addressing the axles for the 2022 Ford Mavericks built later in the 2021 year, but mine was built in September of 21. I have axle issues as well, and this is the first vehicle I've ever had that's this new and has clunking in the CV axles. Mine clunks loudly, and the truck has 114k on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The chrome tips on the window switch fell off and jammed itself in the switch, in the on position for the passenger window. These exact parts are already on recall for different Ford models but it is the same part number being used. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | SERVICE BRAKES | brake issue when coming to a stop, sometimes the brakes (mainly front) feel like they go free for a rotation. this is a random problem, and the dealer didn't find an issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | I was trying to turn and the wheel kept kicking back the other direction. About a week prior to this as I was driving down the road all of a sudden the wheel threw me across a median and into incoming traffic almost causing multiple accidents. I have a video of it but it won’t allow me to upload it. [XXX] However this link should play it. | May 2026 | SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When we brought it in for first oil change at the dealership ; when we got it back it had a broken axle which they tried to say we just needed new tires , after contacting service manager and he and I go for a ride in it they kept it for several weeks and put over 300 miles on it and got ford engineering involved to determine the cause was broken axle. It has been replaced again since then supposedly by a recall but it feels like it is broken again ! Ford took some shortcuts and used inferior parts, infrastructure etc , we had tremendous problems with the battery to which they said their shouldn’t be any reason for this be happening loss of power loss of electrical display and distribution finally I just had to replace the battery on my own because they refused to accept responsibility 4-6 months later a recall for the batteries was issued. The axles on the truck are not sufficient and they are not taking care of it properly! I would also like to report that they cut so many corners on the Maverick that the tailgate just drops no shock absorber nothing just slams on the bumper very dangerous! & They also chose to leave many open” holes” where mud rocks , leaves etc get into the front quarter panels from the hood area at the corner of windshield . So this wet material gets trapped in there n I’m sure will eventually affect the structural integrity of the panel - maybe rust through! Same thing happens with the tailgate fills with debris from bed , rear wheel wells also have a whole. I just wish ford would go back to how Henry Ford ran the company ! Help NHTSA | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Vehicle started experiencing loss of power while driving on the highway. After having it towed to the local Ford dealership, we were informed that our transmission was shot and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had 62k miles on and no dash light warning and no ford pass warnings about the issue. It cost us $7k to replace and 4 months without the vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | "Powertrain System Fault" was given from App, "service engine soon" on dash along with check engine light and "wrench". Dealership said Hybrid battery needs replaced. Dealership said "We don't know what the battery issue will effect if it does go bad." Corporate says "wear and tear item after 36000 miles or 3 years". I have also had to replace the 12V battery this year. I do not see how both batteries can "go bad" within 4 years of manufacturing... Online says truck could go into limp mode with no warning. Truck is available for inspection upon request. If truck will go into limp mode with no warning, could cause many safety issues. Problem initially occurred 3 days ago. Dealership cleared codes and has not happened again. Vehicle has only been inspected by dealership Only issue with electrical before EV battery was the 12V battery that went bad and had to be replaced. Went to start up the truck one afternoon (had been driving all day before this) and the lights on the dash popped on and the "Service Engine Soon" popped up and beeped. Drove it home that Saturday and did not drive it until dropped it off at dealership Monday morning. There must be something electrically causing problems since I just replaced my 12V battery about 6 months ago and now the EV battery is "bad". I've never heard of a Ford 12V battery not lasting at least 8 years. Multiple people I know have original 12V batteries in vehicles 2018 and older... Batteries should not be considered a "wear and tear item" batteries should be covered under their own warranties. Having basically no warranty on batteries poses a severe health risk with the disposal and creation of the old and new batteries. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When the battery voltage suddenly drops the vehicle loses its power steering making slow speed turns extremely difficult. This poses a serious risk of the inability to control the direction of the vehicle and this makes a crash extremely probable. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 55-65 MPH, the vehicle shut off. The driver was unable to pull over to the side of the road. The driver was able to jumpstart the vehicle and continued driving. The contact stated that the failure recurred while pulling into a parking lot. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be picked up due to safety concerns. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that a new 12-Volt battery cable overlay was needed, and the current battery cable needed to be disabled. The dealer related the failure to the Ford Customer Satisfaction Program: 22B39 (2022 Maverick HEV No Start Condition), but the contact was informed that the Customer Satisfaction Program had expired. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied assistance. The failure mileage was 80,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 80,000 |
| Mar 2026 | POWER TRAIN | There is a Ford Customer Satisfaction Program, 25N09 issued September 2025 which covers half shaft replacement for Mavericks manufactured from 12/01/21 through 11/23/22. The upgraded beefier replacement half shafts were not available until late 2024. The program states that if the half shafts on one side fails that that both half shafts are to be replaced. My 2022 Maverick was manufactured 11/21/2021 (the second month of production), a mere 10 days before the initial date of coverage. The half shaft on one side was replaced on 01/10/25 with the upgraded version of the half shaft under warranty. They did not replace the other side. If the beefier replacement half shafts were not available until late 2024 how am I to believe that my Maverick does not have the same under engineered pieces in the other 68,000 2022 Mavericks? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Per a video posted on LinkedIn on March 20, 2026 by Chris Hackney, a Fountainhead Logistics Class 8 tractor displaying a Texas License plate on the front bumper & equipped with the Kodiak Robotics "Kodiak Driver" autonomous system was pulling three 40' belly dump trailers used to transport frac sand on an unknown public roadway in the West Texas Permian Basin in violation of Texas State law which prohibits triple trailers on public roadways. I can't confirm that the movement of the triple trailers shown in the video actually occurred on a public roadway vs a private lease road in the oil & natural gas fields where Fountainhead Logistics operates. I request NHTSA reach out to Fountainhead Logistics &/or Kodiak Robotics to confirm if such alleged illegal movement was made on a public roadway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | My 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid experienced a complete electrical system failure at approximately 15,933 miles, resulting in a no-start condition. The failure involved the vehicle’s electrical distribution system. An authorized Ford dealership (Autos Vega Ford) diagnosed that voltage was not reaching the Body Control Module (BCM) due to a fault in the battery cable and wiring system. The repair required replacement of the 12V battery, high-voltage battery cables, and wiring components. The failure was confirmed by the dealership (Autos Vega Ford) and required multiple jump starts, but the vehicle would not consistently restart after being turned off. There were no prior warning indicators before the failure. The issue occurred suddenly without warning. This failure created a safety risk because the vehicle could not be started or operated. If this failure occurred in an unsafe or remote location, it could leave occupants stranded and unable to move the vehicle. Service records are available through the authorized dealership (Autos Vega Ford). This appears to be a premature electrical system failure at low mileage involving critical components such as battery cables and wiring. Similar issues involving electrical systems, battery defects, and wiring faults have been reported in Ford Maverick Hybrid vehicles. The vehicle became inoperable without warning and required towing/assistance to reach a repair facility. A sudden no-start condition in a hybrid vehicle can create hazardous situations if it occurs in traffic, at intersections, or in remote areas where assistance is not immediately available. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | POWER TRAIN | My 2022 Ford Maverick (EcoBoost AWD) experienced a sudden transmission failure at approximately 73,000 miles. The dealership diagnosed the issue as coolant contamination entering the transmission due to a failed heat exchanger/transmission cooler. The dealer stated that engine coolant mixed with the transmission fluid, which destroyed the transmission and required replacement of the transmission, replacement of heat exchangers, and flushing of the cooling system. The repair estimate is 11,324.39. Ford acknowledged the issue and provided partial goodwill assistance of 3,079, leaving more than 8,000 out of pocket for the repair. This failure occurred without warning and resulted in complete transmission failure. The dealer indicated that coolant contamination is the cause and referenced Ford service guidance addressing this failure scenario (SSM 53465). I am concerned that a failure of the transmission cooler/heat exchanger can allow coolant to contaminate the transmission and cause catastrophic drivetrain failure at relatively low mileage. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | STRUCTURE | Driver side door limiter welds broke loose. Ford said they had to replace the entire door and it was not covered by warranty. The dealer said that this happened to a bunch of Ford Escapes, but they did not have a recall for the Maverick yet. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | STEERING | What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? turning the steering wheel makes clicking sounds from under the dash like a card in a bike tire spokes. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? a problem from a steering wheel/column making strange noises in a new/newer vehicle, how is anyone to know if it will lock up or not work properly while driving? this could cause life threatening loss if malfunctioning. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes, taking to local ford dealer, they have repeated and confirmed the issue as an issue with the rack and pinion motor resulting in 1100 repair bill. truck has 31k miles, but just couple months over the 3 yr 3k mile factory warranty. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? randall ford dealer in fort smith, arkansas Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no, none | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the trailer brakes became inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was informed by another driver that the trailer brake lights were not illuminated while the vehicle was stopped. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,700. The VIN was not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | 44,700 |
| Feb 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | When driving at normal speed, my truck completely shut down with no warning. The instrument panel went dark and the engine shut off. I do not believe I was able to steer, though I think the brakes allowed me to slow the vehicle to a stop. I was near an intersection, so I was lucky to not have been hit from the rear or run in to traffic in front of me. The vehicle was unresponsive and would not turn back on. I was stuck blocking 1 lane of traffic for an hour because the vehicle could not be steered or taken out of gear to push it to the side of the road. I inspected the battery connection and nothing seemed out of place or degraded while trying to get the car out of the road. Highway Patrol also looked, but only was able to offer a tow truck as a solution. My truck has been at the dealer service for almost 2 days awaiting inspection at this point so I have no additional information on what caused this dangerous situation. There had been no indication prior, the truck had started and run normally and all scheduled services had been carried out by the dealer up to this point. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,SERVICE BRAKES | I have a 2022 Ford Maverick XL Hybrid and the system that failed is the rear lighting system, specifically the tail lamps, brake lamps, and rear turn signals. This appears to be related to the Body Control Module (BCM) software, which was the subject of Ford Recall 24S27 affecting many 2022–2024 Ford Mavericks. The failure began on my vehicle with the left rear tail lamp assembly (running light, brake light, and turn signal), and within approximately two minutes the right rear tail lamp assembly also stopped functioning. Since that time, the entire rear lighting system has been inoperative while driving. This issue creates an extremely serious safety hazard. While driving, my vehicle has no functioning rear running lights, brake lights, or turn signals. This means other drivers cannot see when I am braking, signaling a turn, or even driving at night. This significantly increases the risk of rear-end collisions or other traffic accidents, especially in low visibility conditions. I was unaware of the issue until visually noticing it when unlocking the vehicle, and there were no dashboard alerts to warn me prior to that either. Loveland Ford in Loveland, Colorado inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the rear lighting system is not functioning. However, instead of addressing the known Recall 24S27 Body Control Module software issue, they stated that LED bulbs were installed where halogen bulbs should be and issued an $816 estimate to replace the bulbs. I have never performed any aftermarket modifications, and the vehicle has only been serviced by Ford dealerships. The vehicle has been inspected by Loveland Ford, an authorized Ford dealership. Ford customer service confirmed that Recall 24S27 exists for this exact issue in many 2022–2024 Ford Mavericks but stated there is no record of my VIN receiving the recall remedy, which could mean the recall was never accomplished. No warning lamps, dashboard messages, or other alerts appeared prior to the failure. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING | The rear brake lights intermittently do not work, but at the same time the middle third light brake light works fine. also the turn signals work fine. People will rear end me if they don’t see my brake lights. I am a retired, master mechanic, and my son is also a mechanic. We have both looked into this problem and it possibly could be either a module or the turn signal switch. I had no warning of this problem coming on other than someone telling me my rear brake lights stopped working when they were following me. This is a very dangerous situation. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | In cold weather -6F The cover over the positive terminal used to jump start the vehicle is impossible to remove. This causes a situation where the vehicle can not be jump started or render assistance to another that needs jump started. The issue stems from the fact that the plastic cover over the positive terminal is unable to bend when it is cold and can not be "unclipped". | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | This is a complaint of Sheridan Ford in Wilmington DE specifically refusing to complete the recall without my paying out of pocket. Manufacturer Recall Number24S59 NHTSA Recall Number24V684 was left incomplete because they demanded I pay for a "diagnostic" fee on a known safety issue - this dealership is taking advantage of a saftey recall that is required to force customers to pay | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN,LANE DEPARTURE | Clunking in the front end around 20,000 miles. Brought to multiple dealers and they all said no problem found yet clearly hear clunking both sides front going over bumps or steering back and forth quickly. Finally I just replaced them and noise gone. Second thing is headliner is completely ruined from moisture intrusion and can visibly be seen but dealer states no leaks present yet my headliner is water stained looking like those wet tiles in a school. Third is my transmission. It is very erratic when shifting and sometimes flares when downshifting. Dealers state no problems exist. Operates as designed, yet I have driven other mavericks and they do not have the same issues as myself. I have changed the fluid with genuine ford ulv transmission fluid from dealer at about 50k miles. I change my oil every 3k, changed my differentials and transfer case all with genuine fluid. I am an AAS Automotive Technology graduate and currently ASE certified and have worked in multiple dealerships replacing transmissions, engines, almost anything since I have started. I need to gather my records as I have kept receipts and records as I do all my own maintenance and repairs. I have replaced the downstream oxygen sensor twice. Yesterday morning I got a frozen throttle body and limp mode and if I did not have my scan tool I would have been stranded as it would not let me drive due to the stuck closed codes. All codes since I owned the vehicle with 3 miles on it are stored in my ford app and on my scan tool with vin. I have tried calling ford, email, different dealerships and they deny me or want me to pay out of pocket when I have warranty. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | STRUCTURE | When it rains water gets into the passenger-side footwell and beneath the carpeting during rain events. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
