| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | During heavy rain or snow fall I turn my wipers to full power mode, but the Ford Bronco will automatically sometimes slow down and stop completely the wipers during the middle of the storm. The first time this happened I almost crashed because I suddenly could not see out of my windshield because the wipers were too slow (or completely stopped). This is so dangerous and I was only driving 30mph. This now happens consistently, and I have to turn the wipers on/off to clear rain/snow off my windshield to allow me to drive. It is distracting to turn wipers on/off consistently while driving during heavy storms. This urgently needs an immediate recall/fix. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES,PARKING BRAKE | During flat towing the EBB shuts down making the auxiliary brake ineffective, this a safety concern. Ford is aware of the situation, but has failed to address this safety issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER | When set to high speed the wipers after a brief period will "slow down to protect the wiper motor" or something, creating a situation where in even mild rain the car forces the wipers to slow down making it unsafe. Clearly... Ford has severely under spec'd the wiper motor/gearbox hardware and "fixed" it with software making the vehicle unsafe where it will just randomly decide that high speed wiper's are not available anymore. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | When driving with the windshield wipers on low speed, after about 30 seconds the wipers will stop and then go into "intermit" mode. To correct you have to turn the wipers from hi to lo, and then the exact same problem occurs. I did take the vehicle to the dealer who inspected and told me this is normal due to the "smart wiper system" that they are equipped with. This is a highly unsafe condition since its very hard to see in heavy rain | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | After 30-50 seconds of operation, the wiper speed reduces significantly, regardless of how much rain is falling on the windshield. This is particularly problematic during heavy rain fall. When the speed of the wipers is reduced or increased, then returned to the previous position, they maintain adequate speed for another 30-50 seconds before the speed is reduced once more. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY | The contact owns a 2022 Ford Bronco. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed during rainy weather, the windshield wipers failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | I have driven multiple times in the rain and when using the wipers, they slow down almost to a crawl impairing visibility. It doesn't matter what setting they are on, they slow down to the point that I am unable to see. I have to manually restart the wiping process each time, but the problem persists. It happens on all settings. It gets to the point that I don't feel safe driving it sometimes. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | At the top 2 wiper speeds, the windshield wipers will slow down to speeds where I am unable to see. It’s extremely dangerous, especially at faster driving speeds. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The new Bronco has "smart wipers", this is what I have been told from the dealership. The when wipers are on constant Medium or High speed, after about 45 sec to 1 minute, the wipers resort to a slow intermittent feature. This happened to me during a very heavy rain on the morning of 2/8/23. This was a huge safety issue! When my wipers stopped on me this morning, I almost ran off the road due to the inability to see- super heavy rain. After researching this issue, it is a very large, wide spread issue that many Bronco owners are experiencing. There are no warning lights, nor did the dealership say anything about this issue when I purchased the Bronco- 5 days ago. This needs to be a recall to replace the wiper motor to a standard motor and not a "smart motor". I have owned many fords and this is the only one that I have owned that has this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | ** NOTE: THIS COMPLAINT HAS BEEN CORRECTED! FORD AND DEALER REPLACED WIPER MOTOR AND ISSUE IS RESOLVED. THIS WAS REPORTED TO NHTSA FOR UPDATE PURPOSES" . . . NHTSA ID Number: 11498595 Incident Date December 22, 2022 Consumer Location ROME, NY Vehicle Identification Number 1FMDE5BH4NL**** Summary of Complaint The wipers will slow down when operating at low, high, or intermittent. Ford claims these are "Smart Wipers" I believe there is an issue that requires a feature correction or re-flash of the related program to correct. I have to continually adjust the wiper control knob to re-set the wipers to the proper speed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY | 2022 FORD BRONCO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO PARTS BEING UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM WINDSHIELD ADHESION SAFETY RECALL. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The wipers contol has 6 settings, off, intermittent (1,2,3), low speed continuous, high speed continuous. When in the low continuous the wipers will automatically (I did not touch anything) change to intermittent. To get them back to continuous you have to switch off/on or high/low. In even moderate rain you are blind for a second while you fiddle with the controls. www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/wiper-control-speed-issues-urgent-safety.31809 is a Blog containing over 14 months of Bronco owners complaining about this issue. I experienced it this morning at 04:00 driving in the rain. Got scary for a minute as I thought my wipers failed. My Bronco is new, only 900 miles on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I am part of a large number of individuals ~200+ documented experiencing scraping noises in our 7 speed manual transmissions. Most of us can't get service done due to part supply issues and labor shortages. The bigger concern is FORD is replacing same parts that are being damaged which doesn't address the root cause of the issue and its not solving problem because it comes back shortly after service. The noise is mostly only heard in temps below 50*f per FORD TSB 22-2371. People are complaining that regardless of new transmissions and TSB service the noise still comes back while most of us are waiting months to even get the repairs performed. There has been no official resolutions. The noise is a safety concern in that if the transmission fails a bronco filled with a family could be stuck in a dangerous situation unable to move the vehicle in gear on the highway or similar situation along with these are brand new people complaining day 1 they bring these 7 speed manual transmission models home on 21s, 22's and now 23's. FORD just keeps sending them to customers with same defective transmissions we have and the problem is growing quickly also since it is winter and more are out there the number is growing quicker. I have tons of videos, documentation and a community of 200 plus individuals who own 7MT Broncos with the issue. I have spreadsheets from the community of builds and user names as well as photos of internal damage and reports of noise coming back. Very good documentation. please take this seriously. | Jan 2023 | VISIBILITY | With no impact whatsoever a crack appeared on the INSISE of the vehicle windshield. Outdoor temp was about 40 degrees. Has never been on highway has 2400 miles on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | Wipers slow down for no reason during time low or high speed wiping conditions. In order to keep the pipers wiping continuously I have to switch to another setting before going back to the desired high or low seed. Very dangerous and distracting in low visibility conditions. Lots of owners reporting same issue on Bronco6g forum | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | SUSPENSION,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,TIRES | On January 17, 2023, while driving down a commonly driven road (Muldoon) in Anchorage, Alaska at approximately 30 mph, I suddenly heard a large air escaping noise "Psh Psh Psh Psh" and it took me a moment to realize what was happening--the dash indicated the PSI of my rear driver's-side tire was deflating rapidly, to completely flat. Had the vehicle lost control in these snowy conditions, it could have ran into multiple other cars on the road--not ruling out the possibility of a roll-over type accident. When I pulled over into a parking lot, I figured that it was just a flat tire, so I jacked up the vehicle. However, at about the point that the front driver's side tire was leaving the ground, but the rear one wasn't, I determined there must have been an additional issue. I looked behind the tire at the suspension, and it appears that an arm of the suspension had broken off and either destabilized the tire to the point where it lacked a seal around the rim and the air leaked out entirely, or put a hole in the tire. No hole was identifiable, but the tire was so deflated it was hard to tell. When I called the dealership, Kendall Ford of Anchorage, they let me know that they didn't have an appointment until March 2023--at which point I refuted that making me wait 2 months with an undriveable vehicle with under 5,000 miles on it was unacceptable--especially for the price I paid (nearly $70,000). No one has been able to inspect the part yet, but it is clear from photos that the rear suspension on the driver's side does not match the passenger's side rear suspension. There were no warning of failure before this occurred, and the vehicle had been treated very well--it has never been off trail or offroading in the sense that it was in an untraveled area. It has been to archangel pass once, but I would not consider this offroading because the trail is not particularly difficult to pass. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | Windshield wipers when set to low/hight consistent wiper setting (not intermittent) slow down after 30-45 seconds and go into intermittent mode. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | Flat Towing 2022 Ford Bronco with 2.7 V6 engine. After connecting my Bronco to the motorhome and putting it in the tow mode the following will occur. About 45 mins after turning the ignition off and closing the doors the EBB (Electronic Brake Boost) in the Bronco shuts down leaving the Bronco without any brake boost and leaves the supplemental brake system ineffective. When first connecting the Bronco to the motorhome the brake boost is active and the supplemental brake system must be set to match, or it will lock up the brakes on the Bronco when you stop. After the boost shuts down the supplemental brake system cannot apply enough force to the Bronco brakes to assist in stopping and suddenly, without notice, it takes a much greater distance to stop the motorhome than it did when the boost was working. Ford came up with a temporary work around so the EBB never comes on. This involves pulling fuses but you.have to wait for 5 minutes after you close the doors for the vehicle to go enter sleep mode. To take the Bronco out of flat tow mode you must again wait 5 minutes after opening the hood and closing the doors before re-installing the fuses. When flat towing behind with a motorhome it is impossible to backup with the tow vehicle attached. Having to wait 5 minutes before being able to disconnect the tow vehicle is very dangerous in many situations. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | This vehicle is supposed to be flat tow able. If I go to flat tow this car it will lock up the wheels during the first hour or so while towing behind my motor home using a supplemental braking system. I find out later from a forum online that I need to remove some fuses to tow it properly. I hear Ford is working on this issue for a couple years but how many tire lock ups before someone gets hurt? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | When isn’t the wipers on constant low or high they slow down after a few seconds and you can not see. You have to change the setting on the wipers then change them back to reset the wipers. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | ENGINE | I received a "Power Malfunction/ Reduced Power" notification. Then I received a notification to "Service Engine" -control system has detected the turbocharger wastegate is stuck closed. Vehicle is currently at the dealer, per service tech faulty turbo, new one ordered. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | AIR BAGS | Air bag compartment on front passenger window pillar takes in water everytime it rains. Water drains from air bag compartment when I make a turn. Air bag may become compromised and may air bag module may eventually stop working due to water damage and/or render the airbag useless in case of a crash resulting in serious injury or even death. I have taken a video of water actually coming out of airbag compartment and appears to be a persistent problem in other broncos in forums like https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/mic-2-0-water-leak-a-pillar-passenger-airbag-cover.27065/ The vehicle has not been inspected for that issue yet and in the process of setting up an appointment but Ford Country dealership in Henderson, Nevada is aware of it. Additionally, I contacted Ford.com and was given a case# 40741781. There have been no warning lamps or messages as of yet. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | AIR BAGS,STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | After exposure to rain, driver's side floods with water coming from A-Pilliar, Air Bags or Windshield. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | During a heavy downpour the wipers "automatically" slowed down to an unsafe speed; continuous to intermittent. This caused an inability to clearly see out of the front windshield. The only way to "reset" the wipers to normal functionality was to change the wiper setting from continuous to intermittent and back, or off and then back to the desired setting. During this period of time of > 3 seconds there was zero visibility creating a serious safety hazard. This operational behavior of the wiper motor system has occurred several times though during less intense rainfall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | In heavy downpours wipers will "automatically" slow down to an unsafe speed. if you have the wipers on the fastest setting in heavy downpour, out of no where the wipers will automatically slow down to barely moving. This creates an a situation where your visibility is almost taken to zero instantaneously. This is 100% related to programming. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
