| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Known issue with GM with shift to park, when warranty is up cost hundreds of dollars. When the vehicle doesn’t know if it’s in park could potentially cause risk. Problem since 2018. GM needs to fix this know issue free of charge | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN | When car is parked and shifted to park, an error message appears (SHIFT TO PARK). The SHIFT TO PART error message does not allow vehicle to exit auxiliary feature. The battery will drain if not completely shut off. The vehicle was taken to Dyer Chevrolet in Vero Beach, FL for repair. The dealer replaced shift control and harness to correct issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that after parking and turning off the vehicle, the message "Shift to Park" was displayed. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle and shifting from drive(D) to park(P) several times, the message was no longer displayed. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 27,000 |
| Jul 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Shift to Park issue that been known. It’s also affecting our 2022 traverse that is out of warranty. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | When parking vehicle and putting shifter in park, an audible alarm was dinging and the dash board was flashing shift to park. It was already in park. I did some things and it stopped. Many times I have my 7 grandchildren in the car with me. This has happened more than once and I feel its unsafe to exit my car until I get it to stop. I don’t know whats causing it. My husband said it happen to him too. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | POWER TRAIN | I purchased a 2022 Traverse in December 2021 and it just hit 40,000 miles. Now the shift to park error code keeps showing up when placed in park. I have to turn on/off multiple times and try shifting to and from park. It has been consistently erroring out over the last 2 weeks. I believe this is a safety issue due to the fact that it appears it's not going into park. This should absolutely be considered for a safety recall issue on these vehicle, cause my understanding is that this is happening in many Chevrolet Traverses and Acadias. I was given a quote of $275 for repair. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When putting vehicle in park the vehicle will say “Switch to park” even though vehicle is registering it’s in Park position. There are many other people online claiming this is a recall on 2022 Chevy traverses. It says this may be a faulty switch on the transmission. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Vehicle displays shift to park when vehicle is parked. Alert signals and vehicle will not shut completely off and you can’t lock the doors. Has to continuously play with the shift in order for it to register. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact that while driving at approximately 59 MPH, and cruise control possibly activated, the brake pedal was depressed and felt abnormally stiff, the vehicle did not slow down as intended and there was no pulsating while braking. The vehicle then side-swiped a vehicle in the right-turning lane. The vehicle parking brake was applied to bring the vehicle to a stop. Both vehicles sustained damages. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road. No injuries were sustained. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the failure was not able to be replicated. Additionally, a mobile mechanic from the dealer was sent to the residence where the failure was not able to be replicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,600. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | 20,600 |
| Jun 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I wish to report GM still has an issue with broken bracket/exhaust defect on the 2022 model, N222385510. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | I have a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. OnStar suddenly stopped working in my vehicle. Chevy dealership diagnosed it and said that the telecommunications control module is bad and needs replaced. I haven’t even had this vehicle that long and suddenly the telecommunications control module is bad. This is a safety issue because when traveling and if something were to happen (accident, emergency) I have no access to my OnStar. Also, I am being told that I have to pay for this out of pocket and the part is on back order and will not be here until mid July (I have to wait another month and a half). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2024 | ENGINE | Auto developed a rattle and we could not locate the noise. Then we started hearing an exhaust leak and that was leaving carbon deposits on the flex pipe and bracket. Took car to dealership and it was 11,000 out of warranty. The broken pipe and gasket were replaced at my cost. This appears to be a known issue caused by broken or poor weld. GM has a service bulletin for this issue (PIP5681C) but it just covers cars up to year 2021 and not the 2022 year. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2024 | ENGINE | The front exhaust pipe on my 2022 Chevy Traverse has a defect which mirrors existing NHTSA recalls on 2019-2021 Chevy Traverse models. The bracket that attaches the two singular pipes together rusts out and pulls the bracket away from the pipe, exposing a loud exhaust leak, resulting in loss of power and backpressure to the motor. GM is aware of this problem, and has no available parts to resolve it and has offered no alternative repairs in the absence of parts. This makes my vehicle undriveable. That results in my employer risking my employment because I cannot travel to the office. Because there is no official recall on this, no loaner car can be offered by GM, and no rental car can be covered either. Sands Glendale Chevrolet has inspected this vehicle and has confirmed this "has been happening a lot" and has no solutions for me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | About 1 week ago, I began getting "Shift To Park" warnings/notifications when I would park the car and turn off the engine. To make it stop, I usually have to turn the car back on, shift to a different gear, shift back to Park, wiggle the gear shift around side to side and back and forth within the Park gear. Sometimes it will have remedied when I attempt to turn the car off the second time, and other times I need to do the same procedure again. In looking it up online, this is a known issue, and an ongoing issue, with GM vehicles over the past several years with no fix or attention to mandate a correction. This seems to effect GM vehicles of multiple models and can allow the vehicle to roll (and my driveway is a small hill on the top of the hill/cul d' sac that we live in). When it fails to recognize the vehicle is in Park, I cannot exit the car, the alerts and chimes continue and would ultimately drain my battery if it failed to recognize that it was in Park. I do have an appointment scheduled for the dealership to check since I am under warranty still. My vehicle only has less than 29,000 miles and is not driven on rough or challenging terrain, with local drives of less than 10 miles generally. Only 1 driver for this vehicle as well. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2024 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, there was a loud rattling sound coming from the exhaust system and exhaust fumes was entering the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who determined that the exhaust pipes were cracked and had become unsecured and that the entire exhaust system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was concerned that carbon monoxide could enter the vehicle creating a safety hazard while operating the vehicle. The failure mileage was 50,300. | Crash: No Fire: No | 50,300 |
| Feb 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | per the tech at the dealership the noise in my engine is coming from the front exhaust pipe near the hanger it is starting to rust and has made a small hole that is causing the excessive engine noise. gm has a special coverage bulletine for the 2021 traverse (n22238550) this is the same exact thing my 2022 travers is doing. This is so unsafe , you can smell fumes in the vehicle and the car is getting bad mileage and the engine is very loud. The dealer and chevy c/s said there is nothing they can do because the 2022 traverse are not included in the gm special coverage(n22238550). Gm needs to take response ability for the 2022 as well and fix the issue and replace the pipe and the catalytic converter. Hope someone will listen and take this serious and make gm do the right thing for the consumer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The exhaust pipe separated from the mounting bracket resulting in damage to the pipe leading to the manifold. This is a 2 year old vehicle. This issue has been reported in multiple years of Chevrolet Traverses. Chevrolet extended warranties on 2021 Chevrolet Traverses to 150,000 mile for this exact issue but clearly have not fixed the problem for the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. N222385510 There was no warning of this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | Wife was driving my kids to school this am. Driving up a slight hill on a speed limit 55 road vehicle started slowing down and wouldn’t accelerate. Stopped for a traffic light and it very slowly accelerated like a manual transmission stuck in a higher gear. Check engine light went on. I Was able to drive the traverse to the local gmc/Buick dealer which mentioned they were able to download some codes about possible transmission failure - super dangerous and very concerning for a ~1.5 year old vehicle with under 13,000 miles. This could be a major safety issue. Vehicle left at dealer, at this time no confirmed diagnosis but dealer acknowledged there’s a problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | leased vehicle brand new in 4/22 and have had nothing but issues since then.. new radio/navigation (would stay on with car off), torque tube replaced, chip malfunctions, grinding issue with truck steering wheel that pulls at times from this- truck red dash light blinking & truck dead stopping at 60mph on highway. truck has been to service center for months in & out. have been told many times they cannot duplicate the stopping issue so therefore cannot fix it. Electrical codes pulled & are active. The truck is NOT SAFE!! my 2 year old was in it when it dead stopped on the highway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while shifting the transmission into park (P), the vehicle failed to park. The "Shift to Park" message was displayed. Additionally, the vehicle inadvertently and aggressively lunged backward while stopped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the transmission was replaced and repairs were performed on the exhaust system; however, the failure recurred with the vehicle making an abnormal sound while driving. Additionally, the contact stated that her daughter suffered shortness of breath and dizziness while asleep inside the vehicle, which she later received medical attention for. Upon inspection, the contact noticed there was a leak in the exhaust system. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the exhaust pipe had a leak and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 Medical attention | 6,000 |
| Sep 2023 | POWER TRAIN | On multiple occasions the vehicle will not turn off due to the shift to park preventing the engine from turning off. If the operator is in a garage and needs to turn the engine off this will prevent the operator from turning it off and could cause injury or death due to vehicle exhaust. I currently have it at the Chevy dealership for warranty repair but I’m not sure if they will cover it. Here’s a link to the video of the issue: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I stopped for gas and when I went to start the car and leave, the parking brake did not disengage. I was stranded. This is the second issue I have had with the breaking/gear shift on this vehicle. It is a lemon | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Automobile less than 1 year old w/ less than 14,000 miles has had the following service issues. Transmission Failure 06/28/2023 - Replacement of entire valve body Transmission Failure 07/06/2023 - Dealership claims entire transmission to be replaced. Mileage between failures was 334. No Accident or injury, but when a transmission fails with a family of 5 in the car, it is unsettling and unacceptable for a vehicle that is less than 1 year old w/ very low miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Vehicle has been owned for 15 months. This vehicle has been to Chevrolet dealer for the same problem over 7 times. Radio and instrument cluster has turned off and screen has stayed black. I’m august it made vehicle unsafe to drive and operate and had to be towed. Dealer replaced radio screen twice and problem still persists. Cruises control becomes unavailable at random times and won’t function until you power cycle vehicle. Phone and radio will not pair or function together at random times. Pedestrian warning would randomly brake vehicle when driving and no obstacles nor pedestrians were near by. Was almost involved in a collision due to this. Chevrolet dealer has been unable to diagnose electrical problem even after changing radio twice, amplifier once due to it having overheated and burned out, pedestrian module once. Continue to have same problems.current odometer reading is at 37,200 | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2023 | STEERING | The ESC Failed in just 11 months of owning the car. it also said that reduced steering so drive carefully. Purchased the car 3/30/2022 only has 8574 miles on it. This car is a lemon. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
