May 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I have received several recall notices over the past 12 months, including urgent email, texts and letters, notices directly from VW, warning me the urgency of the recall,. I have been attempting to schedule an appointment with the dealer where I purchased the vehicle from in Santa Rosa, CA. The dealer has been uncooperative, and not able to provide an appointment date. I called the San Francisco VW dealer 3 months ago, and they gave me a September 2024 (which I took). Subsequently to scheduling the above appt date, I received 2 further notices from VW warning me how urgent this recall appointment is, and how I should get the work done asap. Yet no one can provide me a repair date shorter than 16 months from now (today is 5/12/2023). I don't know where the liability lies if an accident occurs since the recall is for potential sudden loss of power while driving (including high speed on freeway), which sounds extremely dangerous to me. I would like to put VW and the dealer (Hansel VW - from whom I purchased the vehicle) on notice that there will be legal action in the event of an accident due to this unrepaired recall, and also due to the anguish I have been receiving due to this issue. Your (NHTSA)'s help to resolve this very bad issue will be very much appreciated.

May 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM There is an open safety recall for the HV battery that is unable to be fixed in a reasonable time. My local dealer can't fix because they don't have a HV technician and when I called another I was told I can't get it fixed until April, 2024. How can a vehicle manufacturer sell cars that it cannot fix because there are not enough technicians especially with safety issues. Why can they continue to sell cars they cannot fix in a timely manner. I am stuck with the car because not many people want to buy a car with an open safety recall that cannot be fixed in a reasonable time. What are my rights?

Apr 2023 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Yesterday, April 26th, 2023 the above vehicle was involved in a serious accident, possibly related to the safety recall for the high voltage cell module. My wife was driving the vehicle on her way to work, as she did for the past 2 years. Sometimes she gets coffee for herself and a coworker, so that day she turned into a parking lot of the last MacDonalds before her job. She pulled up to the drive thru lane as she did many times before. She was not distracted by the phone, and her radio was turned off. There was nobody else in her vehicle, and her thought was on the coffee order. As she was pulling up to the 2 vehicles in front of her, something horrible happened in the next 3 or 4 seconds. Her vehicle accelerated suddenly, hit the car in front of her, bounced off to the right, and kept accelerating for the next 50 feet before hitting a semi truck with such a force that the front end of her vehicle is completely obliterated and the semi truck frame was broken. Thankfully, nobody got hurt seriously, and there was no fire. The first question from the Police officer was whether she hit the accelerator pedal by mistake. She responded that she did not hit the accelerator pedal, and does not understand what happened. She was shocked by the sudden fury of her vehicle, and stated that she was unable to stop it. I believe what she is saying, because there was no reason for her to stomp hard on either pedal as she was coasting slowly, and with the vehicle's regenerative braking you only have to tap the brakes gently. If she tapped the wrong pedal by mistake, the acceleration would not be so violent. To do what the vehicle did in such a short distance, the driver would have to stomp forcefully on the pedal and keep it floored all the time. There was no need to do that, and she never even attempted to do such violent acceleration anywhere. There is a real possibility that the vehicle did an unintended full force acceleration caused by defect in the recalled module. GEICO has it

Apr 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The vehicle has shot down twice when about to leave my garage and has gone dead, zero lights, completely dead. I have had to step out of the car, wait a few seconds before getting in again and pushing the brake to wake him up (it’s an EV). All this in a period of two weeks a couple of months ago. I did no pay too much attention at the time until I read that there is a recall that looks like this problem and that it can happen amid driving, with possible fatal consequences if I’m driving in a freeway for example. I have called the dealer twice and have not got my car checked yet. They tell me to wait, that I’m in a list but this is serious!

Apr 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE It happened to me at least 3 times. The first one happened Oct, 2021, when I did not realize it is a big serious problem. The other two happened in Aug 2022 and Oct 2022, respectively. All the three incidences took place after I charged my vehicle in a hot environment exposed to scathing sun shine. The drive assistance and sensor were not working, the cruise function did not work, and the road sign reading feature was not available. Several warning signs about those functions and features showed on driver's console. I was driving on Highway 15 or Highway 405 and of course I could not stop and check. However, after driving like 15-30 minutes, these features go back to normal. I suspect the sensors that make those functions and features work cannot handle the harsh temperature well.

Apr 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I received a safety recall letter from Volkswagen in May, 2022 that stated there is a problem with "Flexible Printed Circuit Solder for High-Voltage (HV) Battery". NHTSA Recall Number is 22V162, and Volkswagen Recall Number is 93O2. But since then I have not received further information on how and when it will be fixed. No update on this recall is given even if I contacted the Volkswagen Customer Care in Aug, 2022.

Mar 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Feb 07,2023 Manufacturer Recall Number97ZZ NHTSA Recall Number23V040 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available This report came out over a month ago. I have to drive my car with the knowledge that it's basically unsafe. Volkswagen has been completely silent about this problem for far too long. I understand that Volkswagen is working on the problem but they do not communicate with owners other than make promises they don't keep. Now they are telling us that we will hear by March 31. Does the NHTSA have the authority to demand that Volkswagen take action? I'm afraid to take my car out of the garage when almost every day, I read that someone else has problems with their car. This isn't right.

Mar 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was attempting to trade in my Id.4 for a Tesla and found out that my car had a major safety recall from Tesla. The recall has been out since Feb and I was never notified from VW. I called the dealership and the manager said he never heard of the problem and offered no solution except there is nothing they can do. Now I have to drive myself and my family around in a car that could crash. There is no insight when a fix will happen.

Mar 2023 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE My vehicle was in Travel Assist mode (i.e. Adaptive Cruise Control) traveling at around 65 MPH. A vehicle has cut into my lane and I felt that the car wouldn't slow quick enough to avoid a collision. I have applied breaks effectively taking the vehicle into my control and taking the vehicle off Travel Assist mode. When driver takes over by applying the breaks in this scenario, irrespective of how hard the breaks are applied, vehicle suddenly moves faster than expected for first few seconds. I had to apply the break harder than I would have applied if I was driving the car in manual mode to get the car to slow down. The expectation was that the vehicle slows down while applying the breaks. This would have caused a collision if I was not quick to react. There were no warning lights or messages on the dashboard prior to or during this incident. This could be a software issue which probably is conflicting between the breaks travel assist is applying and the breaking that the driver is applying. This has happened multiple time to me and on date mentioned on this my wife had same experience confirming that this is in deed an issue that needs some investigating into before it cause any accident(s).
