Aug 2023 STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING On August 4th 2023 we drove from home in Cedar Rapids to our daughter’s in Cottage Grove Wisconsin for a family event. Nearing Madison, somewhere in the area of Verona the Battery Warning Symbol came on in the instrument display. It was intermittent and we continued our journey to our daughter’s house in Cottage Grove. We called AAA and a “tow” truck came. The driver made a visual assessment of the condition of the battery and terminals and serpentine belt and looked at our multimeter readings of battery voltage. The alternator did cut in and the battery voltage went up. He advised that we continue driving it. It made a couple of two-mile trips to and from our hotel in Cottage Grove, with no display of the battery warning icon on the instrument display. On Sunday August 6 2023 we set off for home. The battery icon was not displayed. About 15 miles from departure while we were on the Madison Beltline Highway the following occurred without warning: •The central navigation display went blank •A number of different warnings came up on the instrument display •Power steering was lost •The emergency warning flashers and the direction indicators wouldn’t work •A lot of warning icons were displayed on the instrument display This was absolutely unacceptable and life shorteningly frightening. I won’t use curse words or s**t here but use your imagination. We were able to get to the hard shoulder without crashing. Surprisingly the engine was still running and we were very close to an exit (Fish Hatchery Road) so we were able to limp and wrestle it to a business’ parking area.

Aug 2023 SEATS Seat belts in second row will engage/click into place securely and then intermittently release causing the seatbelt to come disconnected during vehicle operation. I have 3 children who during an accident could be ejected from the vehicle or seriously injured if the seatbelt mechanism were to fail.

Aug 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The child safety locks keep failing. When engaged, the child safety locks continue to click as if they are locking the doors again and again. Then sometimes, but not every time, the child safety lock failure error message is displayed. This is extremely dangerous because if the child locks do not work my children can open the doors while I am driving, putting everyone at risk. This is also in credibly annoying and distracting while driving. making it unsafe to drive while the locks are engaged. The car has been to the dealer for inspection and they can not seem to replicate it, though we are still working with them to try and figure this out. The issue started around 11,000 miles.

Aug 2023 SEATS This Palisade continues to have poor air quality because of an odor coming from the headrests. I have had all 7 replaced in October 2022. The odor was less for a while but has returned, I think, worse than before. This causes respiratory issues including headaches.

Jul 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER,VISIBILITY On 7/23 my family experience a very horrific event. While traveling on a road at approximately 35 mph our rear passenger window exploded. The explosion was unexpected and dangerously unsafe. There was debri of broken glass all over our bodies , hair, clothing and inside our vehicle. Luckily our family was not injured. Since then our family has really questioned the safety of your vehicles after learning that this type of event is happening to other hyundai palisade owners. I created a case and have not heard back from anyone nor any dealership cannot provide assistance in my area. My kids and family are afraid to get into a vehicle we thought was safe but apparently is not. I need someone to call me and I need to stop being transferred over and over to different customer service reps and need hyundai to take responsibility for our loss family time, appointments and mental insecurities caused by this explosion.

Jul 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING Hyndai recalled our vehicle for a tow hitch wiring problem last year. Instead of resolving the issue, they simply pulled the fuse and told us that we cannot tow with lights until they resolve the recall. My understanding is that this recall has been on the books for over a year now. This is extremely frustrating as I am not able to use the tow capability that I paid for when purchasing this vehicle and according to the dealer, no fix has been provided. How do I complain? How do I get something done here? Thank you.

Jul 2023 VISIBILITY The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 50 MPH, a rock from a truck struck the front windshield and caused the windshield to crack. While parked under a tree, an unknown object struck the front windshield and the windshield shattered. There was a line across the entire windshield. The vehicle was taken to a glass replacement facility where the windshield was replaced but the failure recurred. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 68,890.

Jul 2023 ENGINE I've had several instances where the car didn't turn over and all technology screens began glitching, clicking and stating the key wasn't in the car. After a few tries, it would start up. Ice also experienced engine failure WHILE driving. The first time was at a stop light and the engine completely shut off and I had to park, and restart it. This has happened twice. When it did, all of the screens were glitching, flashing, lights came on/off, and then went black. The next time it happened, I was on the highway and it started to sputter, jerk (like it was running out of gas but I had over 1/4 tank).

Jul 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was driving in the highway in fairly heavy rain. My lane departure system went offline first. Next my forward collision went offline. Shortly after that my check engine light came on and the vehicle started shaking. I stopped under a bridge and waited for the rain to slow. I turned the car off and on, but the issues remained. I was forced to drive 10 miles, at 30 mph, on the highway, with hazards on, to a hotel. This caused an unnecessary unsafe situation. The next day, I took to the dealer. The car ran fine. They reset the codes and said it was likely water getting into the cylinders causing 4 and 6 to fail. I really dont feel a car should do this from driving in the rain. This also caused me an unnecessary hotel stay.

Jun 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY The sunroof exploded and shattered while driving on the highway. It was very loud and startling and could have caused us to get in a wreck as it sounded like a gun went off. Also, we then had to drive with a hand on the sunroof cover so the glass wouldn't come into the car as it was very windy and it was unclear if the cover would stay shut. There were no warnings whatsoever. It is at the dealership now and has been confirmed.

May 2023 SEAT BELTS Rear passenger seat belt has come unbuckled at least 6 times while driving. The chimes/alert will start going off. This happens randomly (no hard braking, etc occurring prior to seat belt coming unbuckled). At this point, we are not allowing anyone to sit in this seat due to the safety concerns. We've taken the vehicle in twice to the Hyundai dealership and they were not able to reproduce the issue the first time. The second time, they didn't test it as they wanted to keep the vehicle for a couple days. No warning messages etc occurred prior to the seat belt coming unbuckled-only after the fact.

May 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The child safety lock system is failing. The issue started intermittently and is now regularly occurring. With the child safety lock button on the driver’s door (near the window switches) engaged, an audible cycling of the door locks occurs. After about 12 cycles, the locks stop cycling and an error message appears on the dash. The message states “Child safety lock failure”. The safety of children in the vehicle is put at risk because the system regularly fails, allowing children to open doors with vehicle in motion. When the vehicle is taken to the Hyundai dealer that sold the vehicle, they claim they cannot reproduce it and that they have not heard of anyone else reporting the same issue. However, this has been reported by many Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride owners online and they have been working with their local dealers for repair. No components have been inspected because dealer “could not reproduce”. No messages appeared prior to failure, only after (as stated above). Issue first appeared at around 30,000 miles. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

May 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Hyundai issued a safety recall notice on the tow harness. The harness may catch fire during use or when the car is off and parked. Don’t park the car in a garage until the fuse is pulled. We found out in august 2022 during visit to dealership. The interim fix is to remove the fuse for the tow harness. We are still waiting on a fix. We bought the car to tow a utility trailer and we can’t. We received written notice later that year. Calls to Hyundai customer care have no answer, the dealer has no answer and we have a car we cannot use. What recourse do we have?

May 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Component: child safety lock system Risk: we have a 6 year old and a 2 year old. We bought the SUV as a family vehicle. If the child safety lock system does not work out children would be able to open their doors while traveling at highway speeds. Problem reproduced: the dealership replaced a part the first time we took it in for the issue. The issue persisted. We brought it back when the issue happened again and the dealership said they couldn't reproduce the issue. It happens randomly. I have a video I made showing the issue happening several times in a row and provided the video to the service department. I have an appointment tomorrow morning to drop the car off again for them to diagnose. Inspected: not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance rep or others. Symptoms: you can hear the child lock system trying to physically engage over and over again when walking near to the locked car with the fob in your pocket. When inside the vehicle the same happens when trying to turn on the child safety lock via the button on the driver side arm rest in the driver side door. After the repeated clicking sound there is an alert that appears on the LCD screen in the dash above the steering wheel and a chime. The alert says: "Child safety lock failure" then goes away. I have a video reproducing this several times in a row: https://photos.app.goo.gl/LbvECtVyhA2LxLsp7 The last time we brought this to the dealership they said they could do nothing if they weren't able to reproduce the problem. We have an appointment to drop it with them again tomorrow to diagnose the issue.
