The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the rear sliding window needed to be repaired or replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,300. | Crash: No Fire: No | 51,300 |
| Feb 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While driving the power plant generator for my engine failed without warning, causing my truck to stop working. There has to be a major issue with the part due to the fact that there is 6000 part back order that has been in going for over 2 years. Someone is going to get seriously injured if this part isn’t recalled and corrected. Having your car shut off at highway speeds is unacceptable. Part number 68623194AC. Ram knows there is a serious issue with this etorque power generator and is not doing anything to resolve the issues, nor making parts available to correct the issue. | Feb 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While driving, the engine light turned on and the battery light. Truck started shaking and shut off. Lost complete power. Was right next to my driveway thankfully. Very unsafe situation as I have my wife, [XXX] and [XXX]. Had it towed via my insurance progressive. Mechanic confirmed it was the alternator which is a common problem for the etorque alternator ram rebel 2020. Order is back ordered by over 5,000 customers with no eta of getting the part. Very unsafe situation and now unfixable at this time. There should be accountability with Ram. No recalls have been issued, guidance, or reimbursement via Ram. Help would be greatly appreciated. | Feb 2026 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) in the vehicle’s diesel fuel system failed. This component is subject to NHTSA Safety Recall 22V-767 (FCA Recall Z96). The HPFP has failed more than once, including after recall replacement, and the vehicle is currently in dealer custody, making the component available for inspection upon request. The HPFP failure caused the vehicle to stall and become inoperable, resulting in an unexpected loss of motive power. This created a safety risk by leaving the vehicle disabled and unable to be safely driven. The recall itself identifies HPFP failure as a condition that can lead to engine stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. The repeat failure after recall repair further increased safety risk. The failure was confirmed by an authorized Ram dealership (Gene’s CDJR of Fairbanks). The dealer documented HPFP failure and fuel system contamination, performed the recall repair, and later confirmed repeat fuel system issues. Most recently, the replacement HPFP failed again during an extended test drive performed by the dealer, confirming recurrence of the defect. The vehicle has been repeatedly inspected by an authorized Ram dealership, including: Recall repair inspection and replacement of the HPFP and related fuel system components, Multiple follow-up inspections after continued symptoms, Diagnostic inspections following check-engine lights, noise, fumes, and loss of drivability. No police or insurance inspections were performed, as this was a mechanical failure handled directly by the dealer under a safety recall. There was no warning prior to the HPFP going out the first time. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | I am reporting a suspected safety defect involving the Motor Generator Unit (MGU) used in the eTorque system on my Ram 1500. The vehicle experienced an MGU failure that resulted in abnormal electrical behavior, warning messages, and impaired drivability. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Ram dealership, which confirmed the MGU has failed and requires replacement. The MGU is currently on national backorder with no estimated availability date. As a result, the vehicle is inoperable or unsafe to operate and cannot be repaired in a reasonable timeframe. Why this is a safety concern: The MGU is critical to the vehicle’s starting, charging, and powertrain functions. Failure of this component presents safety risks including loss of propulsion, potential stalling or failure to restart, electrical system instability, and vehicle immobilization in traffic or unsafe locations. The extended inability to obtain replacement MGUs significantly increases these risks. Additional information: Based on dealer communications and publicly available owner reports, similar MGU failures and extended backorders appear to affect multiple Ram 1500 eTorque vehicles, indicating this may not be an isolated incident. Dealer/manufacturer actions: The dealer confirmed the failure and ordered the replacement MGU. No repair timeline or permanent remedy has been provided. Request: I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue to determine whether MGU failures in Ram 1500 eTorque vehicles constitute a safety-related defect requiring investigation and potential recall action. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | SUSPENSION | The rear driver-side wheel detached from the axle, resulting in an immediate loss of vehicle control. As a result, the truck left the roadway. The detached wheel landedapproximately 150 feet behind the vehicle, on the opposite side of the road from where the truck ultimately stopped. Insurance has not yet completed its inspection of the vehicle; however, the crack and damage to the wheel were observed at the scene by a volunteer firefighter, the responding officer, and the tow truck operator. Additionally, an independent witness reported that the truck appeared to abruptly lift off the roadway, as though something suddenly caused it to “go flying.” Due to the sudden nature of the incident, no warning lights illuminated prior to the loss of control. All airbags deployed during the incident. The tailgate was dislodged, and the driver’s side of the truck sustained severe damage, including significant damage to the axle. The vehicle is not operable. While insurance has indicated the truck will likely be deemed a total loss, the claim has not yet been finalized. Video documentation is available showing the location of the detached wheel relative to the truck’s final resting position. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | STEERING | Vehicle experiences intermittent but repeatable safety-related electrical failures affecting turn signals and blind spot monitoring. The left turn signal remains engaged after canceling and does not shut off unless the opposite turn signal is activated, causing incorrect signaling to other drivers. This occurs without driver input. At the same time, the Blind Spot Monitoring system intermittently displays a “Blind Spot System Unavailable” warning and disables the safety feature while driving, increasing the risk of unsafe lane changes. Vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by an authorized Ram/Stellantis dealer. Dealer verified the concern and documented fault code B2225-00 – Steering Column Module Internal Failure, confirming the steering column control module is malfunctioning internally and not posting correct left/right turn signal inputs. Wiring, grounds, power, and CAN bus communication were inspected and ruled out. Dealer also documented fault code B285F-15 – Blind Spot Warning Light Control Circuit Short to Battery/Open, tracing the blind spot failure to a shorted passenger-side mirror harness, confirmed through load testing and a wiggle test. No aftermarket electrical modifications are present. These failures affect federally required signaling and driver-assist safety systems and occur intermittently, making them unpredictable and hazardous. Vehicle has approximately 48,877 miles and is a 2020 Ram 1500. Concern is ongoing and unresolved without replacement of safety-critical components. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | The generator bearings are making a wining noise. It was confirmed by an experienced independent mechanic that the E-torque generator needs replacement. The dealer said the generator is not in stock. Further research showed the part is on back order for months, with thousands of others waiting and in the same boat of no parts available. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | I own a 2020 Ram 1500 with approximately 61,000 miles. I started noticing a clicking/grinding around the motor area at around 59,000 miles. I brought the truck to a local mechanic, who diagnosed it as a possible alternator issue. He suggested bringing it to RAM service because it may be covered under warranty. I followed up by bringing it to RAM to diagnose the issue. After multiple visits, they could not pinpoint the issue, however recommended replacing the belts and adjusters. Over the course of the next month, the clicking/grinding got louder. I made another appointment with RAM, and while I was on my way over there the truck had catastrophic failure and seized all operations. Thankfully I wasn't going more then 20MPH or else something really bad could have happened. At that time, the truck was reading code U0594, which translates to "Invalid Data Received From Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module". I had to get the truck towed to RAM, where they have now had it for about one month. Originally they had said that I would need to buy a new alternator and associated belts/adjustors and battery because i was beyond any standard warranties on the truck, with estimates over what the vehicle is worth, however some personal research found that there is a federal emissions warranty that covers an issue like this. I was fortunate enough to get a loaner car from the dealer two weeks after my truck seized up. I have read online that this is becoming a more common issue with these trucks and feel the manufacturer should raise a warning to their consumers. Had I been on the highway when this happened, who knows where I could be. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN | I had just started my vehicle and drove about 3 blocks and was running 40 miles per hour when the truck sounded like it was revving up and it went into neutral and slowed down. I was able to pull to the side of the road and put the truck into park. I put it back into drive and drove back home. It was scary because I had small children with me and it happened at an intersection. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | ENGINE | This engine has failed by the head gaskets, literally all 4, cracking/breaking. This caused coolant to leak into the engine, mix with the oil, depleating the coolant, thereby causing the truck to overheat and break down. With repairs this continues to happen. 3 times to be exact! This cannot be normal for this engine especially when this happened with less than 90K miles on the engine. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | Unknown |

| Jan 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this email to document a vehicle safety issue involving my 2020 Ram 1500 (5.7L eTorque). In November 2025, the vehicle experienced a failure of the eTorque motorized alternator / belt starter generator system, resulting in a loss of the electrical and charging system. As a result, the vehicle became non-drivable. The vehicle was delivered to an authorized Ram dealership on November 18, 2025, and has remained there continuously. The manufacturer (MOPAR / Stellantis) has confirmed the failure is warranty-covered, but has advised that the required part is on indefinite backorder with no firm ETA. As of the date of this email, the vehicle has been out of service for over 60 days and cannot be safely operated. This issue appears to be widely reported nationwide (I was told by Landers Dodge in Norman, OK that the part is on backorder, and that there are currently 4,678 on Back Order. They also said that they’ve had a RAM there since last Oct. 2025 (this was on 12/12/2025 at 12pm) among vehicles equipped with the eTorque system, indicating a potential systemic defect affecting vehicle operability and safety. I am submitting this email in addition to my formal NHTSA complaint to ensure the issue is fully documented. Thank you for your attention. | Jan 2026 | SEAT BELTS | The drivers back seat seatbelt failed. My daughter and I were driving, and I had to stop suddenly, her car seat had been secured with the seatbelt and the seatbelt unlatched and sent her car seat flying through the cab of the truck. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2026 | AIR BAGS | On Thursday, January 8, 2026, I was operating my vehicle when an oncoming single vehicle traveling in the opposite direction entered a curve at an excessive speed, lost control, and crossed into my lane. I attempted to steer away to avoid the collision; however, the oncoming vehicle struck my vehicle along the driver’s side. The collision caused significant damage to the driver's side and resulted in a failure of the passenger-side rear wheel/tire assembly, complete detachment of the tire from the vehicle. During the collision, none of my vehicle’s airbags deployed, despite the side-impact nature of the crash and the force of the collision. 1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The airbag restraint system failed to deploy during a significant collision involving the driver. The vehicle and airbag system remain intact and are available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The lack of airbag deployment during a driver-side impact increased the risk of injury to me as the vehicle operator. Airbags are designed to provide supplemental protection in collisions of this type, and the absence of deployment reduced occupant protection. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No diagnostic inspection or reproduction testing has yet been performed. Evaluation by a dealer or manufacturer representative is pending. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Police responded to the accident scene. The incident has been reported to insurance representatives. Manufacturer inspection has not yet occurred, but the vehicle remains available for review. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights, dashboard messages, or other symptoms related to the airbag | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 2 Towed Medical attention | Unknown |

| Dec 2025 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,AIR BAGS | The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle veered off the road. The contact stated that the passenger's and driver's side curtains airbags and the front driver's seat and front passenger's seat side airbags deployed. The contact stated that no collision had occurred during the incident. There was no injury sustained. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The neighbors assisted the driver in cutting the airbags that were obstructing the road visibility. The driver then drove to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the front driver's side and passenger's side seat belts were replaced because the seat's side air bags deployment had rendered the seat belts inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to refuel the vehicle, the fuel could not enter the vehicle and splashed out. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 40,000 |
