Oct 2022 STEERING The Jeep steering system allows it to wander down the road with occasional slight lock. On the highway it will move to the left and right and you need to continuously correct its path. While passing a large truck on the highway the wind can cause you to move several feet to the left. Sometimes there is a feel like the steering locks. When parked in the driveway the steering wheel moves 2.5” to 3” before the front wheel move It has not been inspected but will be today by a dealer. I was told by the sales dealership (a different one) that this was normal. There are no warning lights Yes the jeep can be inspected anytime

Oct 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undetermined speed, the vehicle stalled. While using the Stop/Start feature, the vehicle stalled while in drive. The vehicle was restarted. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who informed her that the battery would have potentially exploded if she had continued to drive the vehicle. The mechanic noticed that the battery was smoking. The vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the batteries needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified about the failure but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

Oct 2022 VISIBILITY/WIPER Both of the sun visors became loose and the driver side in particular will dangle down in front of windshield, blocking vision. This is a common defect on Wrangler JL/Gladiators that is the result of a design flaw in the retaining mechanism. This can happen without notice and while driving at any speed. For me it happened on interstate that the visor fell down, blocking my view.

Oct 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM After stopping my Jeep on September 27th smoke was coming out of the engine immediately. There had been no warning lights on the dash or any smells from the engine. I got out and tried to open the hood and the engine was already fully engulfed in fire. Our Jeep had never had any engine trouble or been into the dealership except to have the oil changed. Upon doing my own investigation I have seen many of these fires. Something is definitely wrong with this engine. I could have lost my life.

Sep 2022 STEERING I have had issues with the Steering Damper (?)/"Death Wobble" for months. I took it in to get fixed in Dec. 2021 and was told they couldn't replicate the problem to fix it. It happened twice the following day. It has been getting progressively worse causing uncontrollable steering and the jeep swaying all over the road. I've had to pull over, slow down or break just to prevent the Jeep from going off the road in an uncontrolled manner. I have now made a 2nd appt. to get this fixed.

Sep 2022 POWER TRAIN While driving on the freeway at 75mph in 2wd the rear axle locker comes on by itself. You will press the button to disengage it and it will just blink. Sometimes it will release, but will turn back on by itself. This is not safe and left my vehicle in a compromising condition.

Sep 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I had been driving my car off and on throughout the day without incidence. I stopped by the the grocery store and went in for a very short amount of time. I came out and cranked my car, it cranked as normal. I drove out of the parking lot into traffic and the car just started going haywire then shut off. Lights were flashing inside the car, the dash lights kept coming on and off, the wipers were moving even though they had not been on previously. I turned on my hazard lights and they would only illuminate in the front of the vehicle, but also intermittently. I had no means of warning other drivers, this occurred after dark. The car would not go into neutral so it could be pushed from the roadway. There were no warning lights to let me know anything was wrong. I had no indicators prior to this occurrence and was left completely stranded in traffic in the dark. I was told by the auto shop it was towed to that the issue was the auxiliary battery. This battery was causing a drain on the main battery and therefore shut down.

Sep 2022 VISIBILITY/WIPER My driver's side sun visor does not stay in place while driving and pops out of its holder, even if the visor is folded up out of the way and not being used. When the visor pops out of place, it hangs by the wires for visor mirror lighting. I purchased my vehicle new Feb 2020, and my vehicle currently only has about 10,500 miles. The visor began popping out of place around April/May 2022. The visor popping out of place is dangerous because 1) it happens WHILE driving, especially over rough roads, and this obscures my view of the road (!!!), 2) it has happened multiple times, unpredictably, and 3) I cannot use the visor to block out bright light while driving because it falls out if I fold down the visor, which makes it difficult to drive comfortably around sunrise or sunset. On August 15th, 2022 went to the dealer where I purchased the vehicle (Autonation Jeep Bellevue in Washington state) to get this problem looked at as my vehicle is still under warranty. The service center confirmed the problem, as mentioned in the invoice, and they mentioned they would have to replace the entire sun visor assembly. However, I have not heard back from the dealer concerning replacement as likely the parts are on back order. The pictures I provided are for the visor popped out showing the visor popped out of place when it was supposed to be in the folded up, out of the way position, and the folded down position as well as the hinge that seems to pop out of place. According to different forums of owners of Wrangler JL like mine, visors popping out of place are frequent problems, and replacing the visor with the same visor assembly only temporarily fixes the problem because replacement does nothing about the bad design that leads to the visor falling out of place.

Sep 2022 POWER TRAIN Clutch pedal intermittently sticks when pressed to the floor. If you press and hold the clutch to the floor and release it slowly you can feel it bind up. 3 things normally happen. #1. It will stick to the floor #2. It will stick for a short time and as you raise your foot, the pedal will hit the bottom of your foot, jerking the jeep forward. #3 it does release as normal. I have taken the Jeep to the dealer last year 8/21 and they couldn't replicate the issue. However they reported a leaky hose that they replaced. I couldn't identify any hoses that were newly replaced. It has gotten progressively worse and now I can replicate the issue after a few attempts. When at a complete stop pointing uphill there is a risk of rolling back into another vehicle if the clutch doesnt engage. Transitioning from a complete stop to moving forward is not very smooth if the clutch pops up on its own. Sometimes it ends up in the engine stopping and having to restart the vehicle. The Jeep is available for inspection. I have tried to schedule another repair but waiting for a response from the Dealer. The Jeep has other recalls for the clutch and I believe all recalls have been applied to the vehicle. I have an email that I sent to the dealer with photos that I sent to the dealer when I first noticed this issue. I can also try to find the invoice from last year.

Aug 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM My vehicle is still at the Jeep dealership service center being repaired, but so far, the reported issue includes a "shorted" fuse block. As I was driving the vehicle, I was approaching a red light when my vehicle abruptly halted. The cars behind & near me were forced to go around to avoid hitting my vehicle. The dashboard initially flashed the message "safety mode" or something similar, the check engine light came on, the brakes locked, & the power steering & windows ceased to function. While I waited for the police, I tried to restart the vehicle many times, in hopes of getting it into neutral and/or getting it off of the roadway - nothing worked. The vehicle then began to flash the message "Service Electronic Stability Control." The DOTD serviceman & the tow truck driver were unable to get the vehicle into neutral manually, so it had to be dragged using chains. Once the vehicle was towed to the Jeep dealership (Covington, LA), I was first told that the battery had a voltage of 0. After replacing the battery, I was told that the fuse block was shorted. The representative explained the fuse block's purpose, & further explained that because mine shorted, the battery was unable to communicate with the rest of the vehicle, like the alternator & the PCM, on how much voltage was coming out of the system - i.e., since my computer shorted, the vehicle did not know that the battery was dead. Thus, when the battery killed abruptly while driving, the vehicle basically panicked & went into “safe mode” (limp mode) & locked up the entire machine. I asked repeatedly how this happens and how it can be avoided in the future, and while dancing around many indirect answers, the rep stated that my fuse block in this instance basically caused a complete electronic failure of the vehicle. I am an attorney & I have spoken with experts who suggest that this issue should be investigated. It is a serious hazard & a defect for one glitched part to kill the entire machine while driving.

Aug 2022 STRUCTURE The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated the front driver’s and passenger’s side sun visors would fall independently. The contact stated the sun visors were to remain upright. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer and was informed that the sun visors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,660. The consumer stated after reaching out to the dealer with no success, Stellantis was able to reach the dealer and both visors were replaced on 08/31/22.

Jun 2022 STEERING,SUSPENSION,WHEELS I experience extreme shaking of the steering wheel when traveling in the freeway and hitting a small imperfection on the road causing the care to shake and the steering wheel to vibrate violently to the point i have slow down abruptly from 70MPH to under 50MPH. Took the Jeep to have it check after a day the dealer was not able to reproduce the issue, advised them of the speed that it happens at and are not willing to work on it. They are asking me to pick the car up. No warning prior to issue happening, you can be driving smoothly down the road up to 80MPH once the imperfection in the road is hit the car starts vibrating/shaking.

Jun 2022 STEERING There is a large amount of steering wandering while driving at slow and faster speeds. There is a significant amount of “play” in the steering wheel while driving. I have to constantly correct the wheel while driving to stay in my lane. This is a very dangerous issue for me.

Jun 2022 SUSPENSION The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving approximately 60-70 MPH, the vehicle experienced a death wobble. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the dealer tightened the three bolts on the front end; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 14,500.

Jun 2022 VISIBILITY/WIPER Drivers side visor fell from mount and dangled by wires in front of me while driving. I needed to hold the visor with my left hand while steering with the right until I could come to a safe stop. Not ideal when the sun is in shining into my eyes. I was able to jam the visor back in but it will fall out if I move it too much, so I dont use it. The dealer said they had never heard of it and wants me to leave it with them but that is very inconvenient and I dont expect them to fix it under warranty. The internet has many accounts of this happening and DIY modifications to fix it.
