Sep 2023 STRUCTURE The rear liftgate will not close more than half-way down whether using the remote, the dash-mounted switch, the rear inner button, or manually. Since the rear lights including the stop and turn lights) are mounted on this door, this seems like a safety issue. We've contacted every Hundai dealer in town and were told they might be able to get us in 3 weeks or so down the timeline. Googling this particular issue came up with one earlier similar failure that turned out to be a plastic part that broke and jammed the door.

Aug 2023 ENGINE In June we noticed the car would stutter at certain RPMs or certain speeds. We took the car in and it was diagnosed to "need oil". The car continued to have this issue upon return and we took the car back to the shop where it was diagnosed to be an engine issue. The danger in the car engine could have caused much more serious damage had we not diagnosed it properly with the dealership. After 44 days the car was returned with a remanufactured engine.

Jul 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The alternator failed at 65k miles. Lost headlights, steering, all ability to drive on the interstate with children in the car. Thankfully my husband was able to safely get us off of the road and out of traffic without incident. Driving at 70mph when the battery light flashed once, then all dash lights started flashing then car lost power. No warning other than what happened in just a few seconds. Alternator failed and deemed bad by parts stores.

Jun 2023 ENGINE The engine totally stop in the middle of the road stoping an entire lane. Vehicle just popped a engine light I immediately called Hyundai and said i feel the vehicle has a problem its not going to last 1 min later it immediately stop and was towed to hyundai the following day hyundai notified me the vehicle did not have any oil and has oil consumption problems. It still had more than 2000 miles left for maintenance so its impossible for a new vehicle to have this type of issue so early. Im still under the 5 year warranty. Since then the vehicle is not safe to travel more than a certain amount of miles because the same issue can happen and put in danger the life of my entire family. Hyundai stated i have to take the vehicle every 1000 miles to measure the oil. The vehicle feels like the engine is going to stop and since then it's so concerning that this is a known issue in these vehicle and hyundai does not want to do there end with the warranty on these vehicles and straining to do the right thing and just recall these vehicle who are a danger to so many familys who rely on them. How is it possible a 28000 mile of 1 only owner is having these issues. I had to get a rental that day for work and additionally at the end they charged also for that expense stating it was not a issue of parts but of oil so its not covered by the warranty.

Jun 2023 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE Car began giving us an issue while driving several months ago : driving up hills at a speed of 20 mph or less, the vehicle begins to jerk and pulse. There is also a knocking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. Much of this also happens in parking lots at speeds of less than 10 mph. Driving at a speeds of greater than 60 mph / highway the car will pulse as well. This does not change with driving modes: ECO, Comfort, Sport or SMART mode. The engine is the same throughout modes- jerking and hesitating. When driving from highway to get gas or stop the car will have trouble when pressing on the gas pedal after being stopped then trying to enter the highway. The car is slow to respond to the gas pedal and will not accelerate matching your foot on the pedal. After some time the car will jerk forward and will not slow down when you take your foot off the gas. One incident in the past week I was pulling out into a 3 lane road, the car just stopped for no reason. Gas pedal down.. NOT moving. I was sitting in 3 lanes of oncoming traffic. I have reported this to my Hyundai Dealership. They are unable to locate the problem because NO codes pop up. They are unable to duplicate my problem when test driving. My concern is safety with having 3 children in the car and it just STOPS / lurches forward at a fast rate of speed. This happens on a daily basis. Unknown as to component or system failed or malfunctioned.. Yes available for inspection upon request.

Jun 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM n November 2022 my Hyundai Palisade was recalled because of the tow hitch being a fire hazard. I took my car in thinking that it was fixed. I didn't tow anything until March 2023 and when I went to hook up the u-haul I had rented it was not working. There was no power coming from tow hitch to make the break lights work on the u-haul. The company tested it to make sure it was my car and not the trailer and it was definitely my car not putting out any power. I took my car back into the dealership, and they let me know it was fixed again. In May 2023 I went to tow my jet ski and once again the lights did not work when I hooked it up. I took it back in and they said that I need a new wiring system and wiring harness, but they did not have it in stock. None of the dealerships had it. I started doing my own research and found out that this recall is the same thing for November 2022 and the reason the electric to my trailer wasn't working when hooked up to my Palisade is because back in November the fuse was pulled because of the fire hazard. Hyundai has repeatedly not been able to fix this problem. I bought my Palisade specifically for the towing capacity so I could tow small items around. I have not been able to use it. I have escalated my complaint to Hyundai USA, but no one seems to care to fix it. I have asked for a rental car to help me tow items, but they do not want to supply this or fix my car so I'm able to do it with my own car. Hyundai has had 7 months to get this fixed. This is ridiculous and very frustrating. I either need my car fixed as I am paying for something that I am not receiving or I need my car to be traded in for a new model that has towing capacity.

Jun 2023 SUSPENSION The self-leveling rear suspension on this vehicle has failed twice at approximately every 20,000 miles. I do not tow anything or haul heavy loads. It is a family transport vehicle that is primarily operated on smooth, flat paved roads in a suburban environment. The service writer at Don Moore Hyundai in Owensboro, KY advised that this is a very common issue due to poor design. The components require complete replacement. My personal research via vehicle interest/information forums seems to support this claim as many others have been experiencing the same issue. There is no warning that failure is imminent. The suspension makes a knocking sound, primarily at low speed. Ride and handling are negatively impacted, and the tires are subject to damage and premature wear. The vehicle is available for inspection and it is serviced at the aforementioned dealership.

Jun 2023 ENGINE Engine is burning oil in excess. Vehicle Stalled out, 'chugging' and poor performance as well as a knocking sound from the engine compartment. Upon checking under the hood, vehicle was found to be over 2qts low on oil. My safety and those of other are put at risk from the stalling of the vehicle in daily traffic. Damage to the engine could result in vehicle failure while driving causing accident putting self and those in the vehicle or around the vehicle in harms way. Took in to an auto mechanic, advised this was a problem they have seen/been made aware of in similar vehicles of the same Make. Now having to continuously monitor oil levels. Vehicle is currently at approx. 72500k miles., sluggish driving started at around 70k miles, thought it was bad fuel. Vehicle died multiple times at around 72400 miles, heavy chugging/vibration of entire vehicle and noise from under the hood, sounded like a heat shield. Upon checking oil found over 2qts low. Upon adding oil, the noise stopped. chugging/stalling has not occurred. Went in next day for oil change and to check for leaks. No leak found, oil level had already reduced from the oil just added. Mechanic advised of increased oil burn which is known to the mechanics with Hyundai's. Prior to becoming aware of the problem, no warning lamps appeared, No leaks, no burning smell and no engine sensor or oil pressure warning light came on indicating a problem. Vehicle had started to run a little sluggish, assumed it was bad gas. Upon the vehicle stalling and noise being heard inspected further.

Jun 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Recall 235 was performed incorrectly by a dealership in Tacoma, WA. My Palisade 2020 has an OEM trailer hitch and wiring harness. The dealership completed the inspection in spite of the fact that the instructions say not to when there is an OEM hitch and wiring harness. The Tacoma dealership pulled the trailer fuses and my local dealership in Kirkland WA refused to do the harness replacement. They said Hyundai would refuse to pay for it. I am also trying to get the dealership I purchased the car from three months ago to do the install. But that is in another city. The updated 235 recall is now out with the repair procedure shown and I am having trouble getting dealers to do the harness replacement due to the fact that they say there are 0 recalls left to do for my Palisade. I need your site to show that the replacement recall (just issued) is needed for my car. It is Recall 23-01-044H and is an update of the original 235 recall.

May 2023 SEAT BELTS The seatbelt is flush with the seat and does not allow for a safe and easy fashion to buckle our son in while in his booster seat. We can get it done, but it is extremely difficult and he cannot do it on his own. Upon doing some research, many people are now using seatbelt extenders to help with that issue, which is not allowed/rated for this use. I was considering it until I saw the potential danger involved.

Apr 2023 LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES I have a 2020 Palisade Limited and I experienced trying to open my tail gate all three ways: with the key, the button inside vehicle and the auto tailgate release by standing near the rear with the key and all failed to open the tailgate. I had my husband hold the button inside while I forcefully pushed the tailgate from the inside and finally it popped open. Then I had an issue with closing it went part way down and stopped. I had to manually force the tailgate shut. I took it to the dealer and after inspection he said it was covered under warranty for 5 years or 60,000 miles as long as it had not been tampered with. The hydraulic lift on the passenger side had split exposing part of the coil inside. He ordered a new one on 4/13/23 and it will be installed the following week. The dealer said the never had this issue so I told him that I saw plenty of complaints on the internet before going to the dealer. I will say that I absolutely love my Palisade Limited.

Apr 2023 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE I am having 2 issues with my 2020 Palisade. First off, for the last 7 months I can feel some sort of slip in my transmission when I am between 40-60 mph. I took in in back in November to the dealership and they claim they didn’t find any issues that I could reschedule and drive it with one of the techs at another appointment. Fast forward, took it to a different dealership this week for a second opinion because it’s still happening and more frequent. They told me they felt it happen once. My car is still under warranty. They suggest a transmission flush, but it wasn’t covered under warranty. My second problem is I’ve been caught in heavy downpour storms. Two times my car check engine light comes on and my car goes in limp mode. Basically puts me stranded because the car won’t run. After a day of letting it sit and dry out, it will run and check engine light goes off. They suggest that moisture is getting into the coil and I need a new coil pack and spark plugs. While at the dealership I ask if between the two suggested repairs will it fix the issue. They told me they can’t guarantee me that it will fix the problem. They want to charge me $1700 for something not guarantee when my car is under warranty. Has anyone had these issues? I contacted Hyundai Corporate and my case is suppose to be escalated.

Apr 2023 SUSPENSION With about 47,000 miles of use the suspension became rough, mostly in the rear when driving. It is like you are driving with little to no shocks. The smallest bumps in the road you feel it and bounce in the seat. It used to be a very smooth driving car and very enjoyable to drive. This suspension problem is making it less than enjoyable and more difficult to drive. I spend more time looking at the road and avoiding things that could a rough drive. I have had vehicles in the past that had auto leveling systems and air shocks which has caused similar driving, so it may be a design problem. With this low mileage it should not be a ware issue.

Mar 2023 ENGINE The engine seems to be consuming oil and diminishing the oil levels before the required oil change period. This causes the vehicle to make loud noises, cause erratic error codes/issues, including stall while driving. This seems to be a common problem across Hyundai Palisades from 2020 model year when I looked up in Hyundai Palisade and Kia Telluride forums. I'm surprised there is no recall despite such a wide spread issue with this model.

Mar 2023 ENGINE Excessive oil consumption. Consuming 2 qts of oil every 1000 miles. Has been to the dealership 8 times in the last 15 months. 2 spark plugs from the same cylinder have failed leaving me stranded. My dealership and Hyundai Consumer Affairs continue to give me the run around with oil consumption tests and combustion chamber cleanings rather than admit this is a faulty engine. The first spark plug failed at 25k miles and the second one from the exact same cylinder failed 7k after. Blue smoke comes out of the exhaust frequently on engine start up which I have communicated this several time proving that their fixes aren't preventing the oil from leaking inside the combustion chamber. But they will insist that that I have to continue oil consumption tests, despite having 8 done on the car already. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle knowing that the engine can fail at me at anytime on the road
